Running power/leech d/p build

- Medi burst guards require a lot of taunting, one wrong move and poof, doesn’t help they have 3 lives.

- Condi bunker or turret bunker engies, but that’s not new, in fact it’s getting worst every update and i’m amazed the community is fooled by the few who say “moar button mashing high skillzcap”.

I used to play SWTOR at launch, their pvp scoreboard was interesting, and the individual achievements (medals) were something that made sense considering the objectives (except for huttball i guess.).

It had its flaws, like not enough medals for healers, but it was much more accurate and educational.

Would love to see a scoreboard overhaul inspired by this one.

Even playing from within Europe (servers are in germany iirc) i would recommend to anyone serious about pvp whose connexion runs through Paris to use a VPN, unless they plan to play from 1am to 8am only.

There is one particular router in Paris that is absolutely overloaded and most internet providers tend to give priority to HDTV over gaming, so during peak hours you’re double kittened.
And that one router is actually a step to Anet’s servers in germany.

There are a few free VPNs out there doing a great job, since in most cases you don’t need performance improvement, you only need your datas to avoid the overloaded areas.

Forcing a meta would… force people to learn the roles.

Try to force people to go to school, then come back with more briliant statistics.

No offence but this is a typical idea that sounds good on paper and results in utter failure.

I think maybe you need to go to school, that isn’t a statistic. Maybe then you can call yourself “briliant”.

And no “offence” but, anything is better than what we have now. Of course its not going to be perfect, but for the most part I believe that the quality of matches would skyrocket. This happening at the cost of longer waiting between matches.

You’re implying a faire ratio (%) of people becoming better at the game because they got force fed meta builds.
Like you just repeat it since you assume “the quality of matches would skyrocket”.

Again, apply your idea to real world school, add to that the fact that a very high ratio of player are here just for the fun (there is not even a matter of life betterment) and understand how such a measure would negatively affect players, creating mostly frustration and resentment.
The people who are willing to submit to the all mighty meta already do and thrust ToL for example. (Because we’re talking meta right, not easy rewarding cheese which is a whole other subject.)
Also you’re confusing education and standardization. Many people like to grab the current meta builds while adjusting them to personnal preferences.

If you’re a GW1 fan, then you may have noticed soloQ is pretty much GW2’s RA, except the mmr system tries to soften the level gap between players.

In GW1 you had nothing like this and could land with wammos or x/R with level 8 pets in your team 24/24.

It’s not perfect but it certainly soften the issue.

For those who are having issues targeting the player through the AI layer :

Assuming it’s a “duel”, press closest target, then press next target, it will automatically give you the enemy player. (Except if your first target was the actual player ofc.)

Aside from this, i personnaly really hate how the map rotation changed in hotjoin.

Before i could join Temple of the Silent Storm and do every regular (read real) map without interruption (ToSS> Niflhel> LoF> Kyhlo) while avoiding capri skyham and spiritwatch all together.

Now i have to join during skyham if i want to play a full Kyhlo game.

I just spent 3 gold and 20 skill points on Bewildering Ambush, which didnt unlock.
Relog didn’t fix it.

How should i proceed to get it unlocked like it should ?

Could not weapon swap the ENTIRE match, even after i died in a matched game. Dont know why, the weapon swap button was just greyed out the whole time.

Happens a lot to me, to fix it go swap from the equipment menu

the downed state mechanic is bad enough as it is.
you’ve already been defeated. stop complaining that you can’t delay dying for a few more seconds.

guardian, elementalist, warrior, and mesmers all have counters similar to stealth stomping. except they are actual invulnerability skills. stealth does not prevent damage being done, or certain push/pulls like magnet pull.

This – at it has been told countless times.

Also, you want a proper counter to (stealth) stomp ?

Have proper teammates with you who actually know how to press that button that makes your red bar go up, in fact faster than the stomp animation plays with only one person on it.

There are number of these strange bugs, some are actual rooting, some animation bugs, and some permit movement when you’re actually meant to be rooted.

The most common one I encounter is simply unable to move for no reason after being stationary. Press forward and your character goes rigid, as if it took a half step then got paralysed. Releasing the button puts the character back into their normal stationary appearance, and pressing forward a second time works as it should.

The second most common more of an animation bug, which presents itself if you are moving in a particular way when you use a shadow step, resulting in your character appearing to slide around the map with their legs unmoving.

The third most common is when you go to evade an incoming knockdown, and hit it JUST too late. Your character takes on the knocked down appearance, but can move – sliding around on their stomach/back. In this case, on your screen you are disabled but moving, and out of harm’s way. Yet, you’re still getting damaged as if you didn’t move. When the knockdown is over, you’re still where you moved to, and your opponent has to run to you to get in range. What?

Lastly, is what you speak of. It appears to be a bug when teleporting, but I have no idea what variables cause it to occur other than that. It’s not a result of “being too wild”. It’s happened to me on infiltrator’s arrow, infiltrator’s strike, infiltrator’s return, and lightning flash. The only way I’ve got out of it is by teleporting again, whether by a utility, skill, or respawning. If I were to guess, I would say the bug causes your character to go outside of the allowable bounds for characters on the map. Then, positioning validation (the type of code that says "nope, you’re not going anywhere because there’s an object in front of you) prevents your character from moving. It could be something small like 1 unit below the ground which marks you as “inside an object” and therefore cannot move in any direction including up, or it could be something much more severe that we aren’t seeing because the engine simply says “uh, I can’t put you at that location, so I’ll redraw you here, and treat you like you’re here”, or you could be stuck in an infinite loop.

Yup, getting all of these on a regular basis, especially the first one, very annoying.

First one i can’t tell, but the three others are most probably due to latency, where the server doesn’t agree with what you see on your screen, resulting in contradictory information.

Dodge hammer > computer says on time, server says too late, server has the priority. Then you proceed to get beaten while your computer is unable to sync the proper informations the server considers true.
(I’m no programmer, sorry for the popularized explanation)

This is also how you sometimes take fall damage from the slightest fall, because your position on your screen slightly differs from server side, and there was no “in between” step for the server but an actual “full fall”.

0 control over your withdraw, lots of random evasions wasted, obviously playing against people who don’t know what it means to keep pressuring through stealth – especially SR.

Especially love the “so bad” after the engi fight, you meant that for yourself didn’t you ?

Hey, these videos are old.

The trait “infusion of shadows” used to give 2 initiative every time you applied stealth on yourself.
Now, only when you use a skill that makes you enter stealth.

Along with this, the minor trait “Meld with Shadows” only works with stealth skills since then, you get no benefit from it using stealth combo fields.

Sleight of hand : stab denial interrupt on a 21s CD + bountifull theft prioritizing stab (and apply vigor) makes the entire acrobatics line look very weak in comparison.

I don’t understand the hate here towards Ostricheggs. Y’all guys jealous or what? This guy is getting skrewed over by ANET really hard and he should be compensated. This guy played what, 10k hours or something like that? In PVE land he would be king and swimming in gold.

People who are saying that at the end of the day he got an equal amount of chests that is just wrong wrong wrong. r69-r71 takes 900k which gave him 2 CRAP chests, people who farm 900k nowadays after the patch will obtain 45 chests.

It’s really ironic really. What ANET is trying to say is, we don’t like our current rank system where the amount of time it takes to get a reward rises exponentially. So why don’t they reward retroactively on the amount of rank points obtained instead of the amount of ranks, that’s the whole point of this patch!! To reward people on the amount of rank points you obtain so why don’t you reward Ostricheggs and others on the AMOUNT OF RANK POINTS THEY OBTAINED. I am rank 52 atm, and boy am I glad that I didn’t waste any more time of my life than necessary.

That, or make a little something to acknowledge the effort while not turning the old system page into limbo like a shameful piece of the past.

This is the kind of things i personnaly like to remember “used to be like this”, when seeing for example (in this particular situation) players running around with titles or stuff from “another era”, little things to celebrate the game’s different stages over the course of its lifespan, and what better way to do it than through its dedicated players ?

I made a thread some time ago where i said solo q was in the worst state ever.

Well i was wrong.

NOW it’s in the worst state ever, to the point that i don’t even understand why so many horrible players even queue.

Moreover everytime i play, ranked people are like 2/10 ( wut), sometimes totally none.

Has EU really reached NA level ?

I’m getting so discouraged that i may even try to play with a team. OMG.

I’ve fallen from ~280 to 95% over this week end

I’ve seen 4 of my teammates stacked on close at start

Players dying to chieftain and svanir with no reason to go for them to start with

Entire teams celebrating starcraft mid point while the buffs are active

Players lost somewhere in the maps, prolly looking for vista

Players asking “lol what do i do” during the starter timer

I had some people standing mid next to me while bunkering asking me why i was the one to stay mid, it’s their turn now

And way too much skyhammer, to the point where it feels like the map is rigged to happen more often than the others.

Again, veterans don’t care about rewards. We care about the title, the prestige that comes with our commitment to the game. If we wanted chests we’d go play PvE.

This is totally biased, stop saying “we” pretending your way is the only true way.

It is fine if you like your experience this way, but don’t assume other people’s objectives are wrong.

For example, some people spend countless hours on steam games in order to unlock every achievements possible.
Following your opinion, they don’t enjoy games the proper way.
Don’t generalize your own – viable but not ultimate – opinion.

Especially considering you wouldn’t end up spoiled in any way if people had the tiny reward they ask for.

It’s a bit sad actually.

r70+ players are very few, it’s going to be hard to make their point.

I don’t understand why the vast majority of the counter arguments focus on saying “but that’s just mindless grinding” or “70 = skyham”.

I personnaly haven’t met a single r70+ who didn’t deserve his rank – over 6k+ games played.

I’m not affected by the issue, i’m currently almost done getting my r60, but i have been through that long and painfull way enough to feel their disappointment.

People must understand that between r60 and r70 there is a HUGE time investment difference – and most probably a better win ratio.
Going from 60 to 70 is a bit more than the same amount of rank point you need compared to 0 to 60.

This is an achievement, no matter how you turn it.

If the rank revamp stays the same, a little something to show off for the people with your rank BEFORE the patch hits would indeed be a nice move.

Never underestimate the power and preciosity of vanity show offs in a pvp environment.

GW1 bronze/silver and gold capes were a perfect design choice before guilds started to sell them.

There is no way a “very small percentage” of the pvp player base means r55+ players.

We are a LOT of people there, most players who play on a regular basis since launch are between r55 and r70.

That very small percentage probably affects people with r73-74+ and it’s perfect this way.

Great changes, cant wait for that update.
