Anyway I found this part funny. Even the devs poke a bit of fun at thieves.

Everyone has likely seen a commander laying out battle plans and then subsequently seen that one thief mucking up those plans.

CuddleStrike….. Thanks for the hugs at JGBL Bay a few hours ago! Though I wasn’t expecting them to come in the form of an asura guardian charging out, being extremely annoying against 5+ then calmly returning to the keep multiple times. At least you only hugged when I wasn’t transformed

We’re still together ! Get at least another week of being a dysfunctional family Why we’re green I honestly don’t know though. Also about ET and checking scores…. No other server has any excuse of not being able to do the best they can with little coverage. Hope they get a transfer.or two to help them out a bit and give their current force a chance to be more competitive.

To all the people (mostly BG) who didn’t use their 20+ zerg to stomp over a poor Plush Griffon and understood that jumping is how Plush Griffons say “Hello!”, you’re awesome!

Makes sense the boats are gone. The Consortium have “trapped” the refugees there to work and with the Asura gate being the only way on or off the island, they have full control who has access to it (obviously not including us players). This way the refugees can’t leave without Consortium permission, which they’ll never get.. at least so far anyway.

Yeah but the problem is, which people are distracted by that statement, was when I came back to that area and I quote “I felt lost, confused, and flustered” as in re-learning a zone that is no longer the same.

Frankly, I am kinda tired explaining myself, sharing opinions of my own, only to get back lashed by the bad side of the community.

Its the apocalypse thanks to The Consortium.. Off course things have changed! There’s so much info everywhere its almost impossible to be lost and confused and that’s not counting the sheer number of people who can help you out. It just seems you want SC to return back to being deserted (I miss it a bit but doesn’t feel like a time sink now as you can actually do events).

This is by far the most casual thing EVER in the game and not sure how you find levelling a character before more memory worth than now. So much easier in groups and non stop events + the buffs make drops worthwhile and regular!

Though it seems anyone who disagrees is ‘bad’ so each to their own. SC is a snorefest compared to typical Asian MMOs anyway. Once we sort this mess out, things won’t be as hectic anymore since all the new events are based solely on this mess If this isn’t casual, not sure how you survived Wintersday and Halloween.. Just my two cents. Not for everyone but requires so little effort to get achievement even the most casual of people can do it quickly and never go back to SC till the next chapter.

Just like to add that this is possibly the last time our dysfunctional family of Quarrians, Rallians and Gaters will be together for a while before ‘The Man’ splits us up. So let’s all remember the good times and make this week unforgettable and go down in history as the greatest W3 week ever!

Sigh… This thread has gotten all serious again. Our three servers have become like family now so let’s just all get along before things shake up and we might get split up.

I have irrefutable proof why BG/SoR should be afraid of us and I shall present it wearing my stylish new silver hat!

Southsun Cove gives the tentacle backpiece and is all about fighting creepy giant bug monsters. Server name is Jade Quarry and by coincidence the bonus fractal boss just happens to be the Jade Maw, which is a creepy bug monster with tentacles… And green. Said SC bugs are red, and Consortium is blue/yellow. Coincidence? Add the fact it is the only place to get passion flowers from green brushes, which has a green name ,with stats which benefit necromancers the most, which just happen to also be affiliated with green!

In other words, we have a subliminal urge to get that backpiece and get rid of these phony bugs and the Consortium who are sabotaging us for the arrival of the Jade Maw, the TRUE terror of Southsun Cove! Upon achieving said backpiece , our urge to conquer W3 will return to regain our unofficial colour to worship the Jade Maw and things will be all good again even of it means siding with the phony bugs for a while to eliminate the Consortium

It’s part of the culture to not show bones or skeletons, hence the look.

He made LA chat fun! Actually knows how to troll properly and rather than causing flame wars, we (JQ) just have a good debate in LA… Nothing else to do most of the time. Obviously not 100% representative of BG, but he’s awesome as your JQ troll ambassador. No sarcasm at all in this post. Good trolls are far and few between these days

Now onto main matter. BG/ SoR.. You got your complex wrong. It’s supposed to be if you do as well as you hope it’s our fault for whatever reason possible, but if you win, it’s cause your server is the best thing since the discovery of fire whilst we are a mere single cell organism in comparison! A win is a win and unlike the other defeat which MAY have been influenced by siege shenanigans, whoever wins deserves it this time with no excuse. Each week is new so past means nothing.

GIVE YOURSELVES SOME CREDIT ALREADY!!!!!! Is it so hard to admit to yourselves maybe, just maybe, if all give their best effort, the variables become less significant and you actually perform better than you have before? Reading all this bragging of our apparent self destruction cos we’re not unbeatable( the horror) is getting childish. If you want competition, then keep bringing it! We never gave up against SoS and you both shouldn’t either.

There are tonnes of trash mobs in WvW. Minotaurs, wolves, moas, rabbits, skale, fireflies, sentries, drakes, yaks… the list goes on. If you can’t hit these guys with Ride the Lightning then you don’t deserve to get away. There are thief builds that rely entirely on engaging in areas where there are a lot of NPC mobs so they get free Cloak and Dagger hits, I don’t see how this is such a huge drama.

Tagging = combat = lower movespeed. Cutting 20 seconds isn’t worth running slower defeating the point of tagging in the first place.

Gonna be lame to chase now since the downtime is gonna be an eternity.

Meh at running away randomly like vapouring into tower after jumping 1vXX (which is sign of a ‘bad’ playstyle)…. But what about our chasing potential? In order to keep 20sec you have to hit a mob, meaning you enter combat and slowed down anyway. Now its going to be a lot harder losing the biggest gap closer on extended chases unless they mess up negating impact of waiting the extra time for RTL.

At least now if I see someone in the distance and I’m solo can probably just emote and hope they don’t run away or just ignore them and save myself a pointless chase. I would’ve just adjusted CD to flat 20/25sec and reduce range to 1000/1100. Just lame how classes are balanced mostly on sPvP/tPvP which is completely different style to PvE and W3. Silver lining: fast tracking plan for staff ele zerg buster since confusion got destroyed with mesmer and get awesome before any staff buffs happen… So got a few months to perfect!

Finaly made my thief ( third char after main ele and second mesmer) and not going to rely on kittentealth since it makes player skill slack IMO. Theory wise got play style but everything else is shaky except I’ll 100% S/D which is awesome for me.

About steal… Instantly saw it as an awesome juke tool and escape. In trouble? Find target, steal to them(now heal) and run away laughing after the instant teleport. Team this up with the sword 2 skill with the circles and you just jump all over the place. Way more to thieves than gimmicky glass cannon stealth 2second paperweight builds

Like I said all theory crafting but using it as a damage and not a juke tool seemed weird considering how strong it is. Team up with short bow…. You get the picture Guess I’ll level thief up faster since glamour isn’t gonna be great with confusion nerf anymore for mesmer. Not even level 10 yet XD

A small part of of me wishes this wasn’t the truth, but with how things are in T1, pretty understandable. Not going to be the same without those [EMP] pins though Still best thing ever was running with Christina Lee doing some duo recon only to get completely steamrolled by a 15+zerg we didn’t see one time (pre culling removal).

Yep 25! Didn’t take one when BG showed up a few seconds later (from the left) with similar number. Amazing three way battle for awhile though. Think I died getting greedy or we pushed and got flanked… don’t really care simply cos it’s nice to actually be able to see people, or in most cases a sea of nameplates!

Nah we can handle losing a garrison. Not sure how we would handle coming a distant 3rd every week though. Must be frusrating to have to come on the forums and boast about small victories to make you feel better.

That’s kinda uncalled for…. Remember when we were almost perma second to SoS back in the SoS/JQ/SBI days giving it all we had, so any major objective like Garrison was awesome to have? Then when we finally won, we boasted like we had beaten the game before calming down. Goooood times ^^

On topic of fights rather than zerging. Get a party and roam. Eventually you’ll get zerged but holding them off as long as you can defending dolyaks, scouts and guildmaster for a tick or two is the best thing ever! If commanders are attacking something, go defend/scout something as opponent will most likely do the same. Way more fun than 30+ zergs taking supply camps all the time, then moving past a tower to the next supply camp. Though I’m not complaining. Simple communication in chat = lots of bags for everyone for the loss of a supply camp

As long as there is a finite number of something, people will always grief others. At the moment one can:
- Use funny potions to dress like animal and not combat at all, wasting a spot
- Waste spots in wvw by doing Guild v Guild combats and other Dolyak parades or anything that does not involve gaining influence on the map.

Tarnished Coast wouldn’t be happy with those at all.

If the 26th patch+settings can reduce the lag in major fights, I’ll be happy.

If BG wins, you know there will probably be people who point to the idiot who kept siege capping us as an excuse. Who knows, maybe it is a legitimate one or maybe it wouldn’t have mattered.

Being sabotaged played some factor I guess but we as a server can’t stoop down to the saboteurs level and give them ‘credit’ for weakening us. If anything it just proves how strong we are even after stuff like that happens and we never EVER give up. Hope whoever was doing this gets caught though since no server needs people like that.

@BG: You may win this battle, but the war will go on. Same tactic isn’t gonna work twice. Fun fights all round especially guildies defence even in our un-fully kitted alt state!

D/D Ele from launch and love everything about it, and finally got around to making my predetermined second char (Mesmer). Honestly I understand why mesmers don’t have something like this, but requires so much effort just to do what other classes can do easily. Kinda annoying you have to have a specific setup, but 25% is too much. Based on the entire kit, any passive MS (not including clones) would result in nerfs in other places IMO.

To the person saying there’s no problem when in a group, that’s kinda redundant since all in group should be speeding everyone up anyway. It’s like saying it easier to come back from being downed in a group compared to solo =="

Find a few other games (non MMO) not as fun now simply because I can’t dodge. “Bad” thieves would just stealth instead of dodge cos no need to dodge if opponent can’t see you most of the time(hyperbole) Only hurts them in the long run as dodging is an essential part of the game and everything is based on the fact it’s possible to do so.

Oh well, well see after the patch what happens. QQ will be from those who can’t adapt and if the posts in this thread are anything to go by, players who didn’t rely as much on stealth could potentially be buffed in a big way as long as the class changes don’t mess things up a lot. Nothing more terrifying than thieves who don’t rely on stealth or try instgib in 2 seconds since hey know how to play the class to its true potential.

As far as I can tell this + culling will hopefully get rid of all the bad thieves who relied on using a tactic which was borderline exploitation. I’m all for a stealthy class but there’s no fun in fighting something which hits like a truck and appears so little you can blink and miss them (hyperbole but you get the point) Pretty sure most of the the thieves who are upset the most don’t realise you can dodge in this game since they relied on almost perma stealth.

Can’t wait so can finally see more thieves who don’t abuse mechanics If I’m gonna die to a thief, it would be nice to actually see them for once!

Really?! Guess that shows just how much I rely on Vapour Form since I never knew that and played Ele since the game launched. Then again I view downed=soon to be dead so try not to be downed in the first place.

Warriors can do similar near door. Sure they still take damage, but chance is still there to survive and they’re probably the toughest class in the game, not that I care since it makes sense.

Think of ele’s who do this constantly as the thieves who spam two buttons. Relying on one or two skills to survive means you are a bad player IMO.

Awwww sad day. Going to miss the days of seeing 15+ SoS (MERC) charging at me whilst running around… then hightailing it as fast as humanly possible or at least trying to! Starting to think the transfers we (JQ) got did more harm than good. I know we improved tactics during SoS domination so having the transfers was kind of overkill. Just my opinion as casual W3 player.

Just wondering is DiE still on SoS? So many screenshots of chilling/informal dueling/chatting from ages ago. Haven’t W3 in ages since hardware can’t keep up till I upgrade since it’s not fun watching a slideshow when more than 10 people are on the screen.

Can we all just drop this already anyway ==" Breaking your winning streak I think showed just how fragile morale can be, but since SoS bounced back stronger than ever, all is well and competition is back to how it was.. if not even more fierce.

Hopefully our fourth win won’t take another 3 months since we’re pretty stable in our position. Not a fan of the colour green anyway :P

If I have to Vapour Form (the DOWNED skill, not the utility Mist Form), then I’ve stuffed up since I shouldn’t have been downed in the first place, especially near a portal. People who jump headfirst, try to take on the army, do nothing, get downed and Vapour Form into a portal are only hurting their team.

Though Vapour Forming on the offence to a safer distance to be rezzed can be a lifesaver which the other mobile classes can do in some way…. note the ones with the lower health :P Couldn’t care less about Vapour Form anyway since I shouldn’t be in the position to use it on a regular basis. Not doing a good job defending in that case :P

Can solo enter a dungeon or fractal. ‘The Omphalos Chamber’ in The Grove probably the best place I can think of. Awesome setting too!

Duels are fun…. mix it up from the usual war. Met ‘enemies’ and had some awesome duels or even just chatting(nothing W3 specific) / chilling for a few mins to have a break before parting and continuing our endless struggle to obliterate each others server

I don’t actively seek duels since that’s what sPvP, but if I’m just roaming around looking for somewhere to help or doing the minor stuff (camps, yaks, quaggans etc) and come across someone who does the unofficial duel request (standoff, /wave, /bow, inch closer to make sure we want to fight… then unleash!), 100% going to duel! If more people come in, oh well that’s war. I stay away from enemy 1v1’s though cos I got better stuff to do. If it’s a teammate, I’ll hang around to support them.

Don’t duel that much these days since things are a lot more intense and nonstop now. Team glory > individual glory at the end of the day, though being the sacrificial bait is a good enough reason to drag a few enemies into a duel to waste their time if it means teammates have an easier time at a supply camp!

No problem!! Guess we both think the same way running solo so was surprised to see another solo capper since it was all groups of five or so I met that night. Sorry about the random “attacks” though whenever I stood up. Kept trying to autoattack when you got close and couldn’t cancel it without running away and spoiling things. Always on the lookout to just chill with the enemy when solo roaming too since it’s a nice break from the constant fighting.

Also if the Female Norn(or large size human) I battled for a few minutes on SoS BL near the JQ gate and didn’t finish out of respect is reading this, that was easily the best duel I’ve ever had! Can honestly say I got lucky with cooldowns to cancel one of your heals at the right time otherwise you would’ve won through pure perseverance. Was getting worn out by then so if I had missed, you would have one deservedly.

About DiE, met a few who just chill as well (and chat) so they seem pretty nice though just a small sample I guess. Gonna assume anybody who is cheating is doing it cos they want to, and not a fair representation of the guild as a whole.

Gotta love the universal language of keeping distance + /wave + /bow + other emotes = friendly
