@Saint: Not discounting mechanics since mechanics are against any AI based class in most games I’ve played (mesmer, ranger, necro with MM build?), but from the viewpoint of the OP, don’t see what the big deal is.

Not sure I see the issue being since no matter how much you try, the level of RNG is impossible to control, so the five hours was kind of a waste. Could’ve tried to use that time to try and minimise how much RNG impacts you to beat it in decent time rather than fighting an uphill battle you know is unbeatable. Not like they’ll survive more than one attack anyway which was my thinking for it and not the first time this has happened in the game, difference with these LS chapters is it’s concentrated and non stop like the Tergriff boss or Glint’s lair final boss with annoying AOE condi thing, unlike say.. the MF Transformers fight. At least there you can limit the RNG of attacks for awhile. Also speedrunning a semi RNG based class against a heavy RNG boss is asking for trouble.

Minor issue I have where things need to change with S2 living story if anything. Mesmer utilities need to be more useful so hoping future chapters will allow them to shine if illusions aren’t as effective against Mordrem overall compared to previous mobs. Only ranged Mordrem mob I think have been the Slingers which reflect doesn’t work on, or at least the only theoretical mob which it should work on (someone correct me if I’m wrong). Maybe Moredremoth just hates mesmers in general cos it gets confused with all the illusions and/or upset it will never get into the mesmer society Kasmeer is part of

Weird… I found this so much easier on mesmer than my ele and I’m a pretty average player. GS / Sword-Pistol. Dodge his attacks, then chain phantasms (pistol then GS since pistol is slower cast) between his attacks. All they need to do is hit their initial attack, don’t really plan on them surviving longer.

Summed up, dodge attacks, avoid red circles, use phantasms between it’s attacks, win. I did die once cos I missed a dodge otherwise it’s pretty straightforward.

@ErickDntn: That would be the final boss in Glint’s Lair who is pretty harsh to mesmers, luckily it’s easy to re-trait to so just takes a little longer than planned

I beat last year after losing my sanity, gold and sleep whilst this year it took about 20 tries so I got rid of an extra 0. I did do it on my mesmer though..

Apart from all the tips here, play on the lowest gfx setting now matter how powerful computer is. Need every FPS you get.

Most important thing is to stay calm, not panic and watch other people doing Liadri. If you’re lucky you might get a talkative gauntlet group who give each other tips. I usually tried 5 times then took a break to do something else, then went back.

Oh and both times I beat her after announcer said I’m running out of time ><

Humble in victory, gracious in defeat (which it seems the smaller servers do the most). Another is the strength of the militia and their tenacity no matter if you the largest or smallest server, no matter the odds they’ll always fight and give it their all…. and enjoy themselves!

Animal control did it’s job, thus culling hundreds of innocent yaks and their numbers never recovered. Never underestimate the power of a single yak though (old vid, but relevant)

If there was no bowing or some other emote to show it’s a fair duel, nothing to stop them running away. If it is an ‘official’ one where the emotes have been made, you shouldn’t run away and deserve to be mown down by a zerg.

Like the idea of channelling so you can detonate it earlier. So many times I wish I could detonate early when I mess it up rather than sit around for it to finish or just dodge to cancel it. Hopefully this happens

Definitely doesn’t need boons or bonuses when using it though.

Rebuilding mine for dual setup (yay for free refund on traits!) but it all depends on what you want to do or will spend the most time doing if you’ll just have one set of armour/gear. Are you planning on roaming, being part of a havoc or joining in the larger scale fights?

I’m sorry, but just because you use initiative as a resource instead of CDs doesn’t mean you should be immune to delay from being interrupted. There should be some drawback to having a build that relies on spamming the same skill over and over.

I understand that Thief skills are balanced differently, but it’s either they get a CD on their skills when interrupted or they lose initiative, and attacking class resources specifically seems like a bad idea.

Thieves are the biggest problem of this game.

Anet had the kittening idea to create a class without kittening cd and kittening casting time in a game where all other classes have cd and casting times over 80% of skills and it’s 2 years that anet dont find a way to balance this.

Simple to fix. Instead of CD’s, if something gets interrupted, initiative # goes down by X for some amount of time. It means abilities can still be ‘spammed’ but you’ll only be able to autoattack. It punishes the majority of fail thieves, yet rewards good play just like every other single class.

Anything as a reward from GW should never be obtainable any other way. I never played it but if I spent all those hours playing it, continuing support through GW2 and getting limited stuff, only for it to show up in the store and be bought or unlocked some way, I’d be pretty annoyed.

As suggested if you really want it, can just unlock through GW

There’s an extremely easy way but most people would use it for abuse which is kind of sad. Emotes are the best way though since it’s like a universal language, plus jumping up and down helps as well. Even better if you do so with a tonic since nobody in their right mind runs up to somebody and will be hostile jumping as a tonic

This sounds interesting. Been too undecided on what to change my ancient 2-2-2 runes to since I switch to other weapons which don’t rely on boon duration as much so they’re kind of wasted then.

:( Did this pretty much for fun with the rewards a bonus, but now with this change, no point trying to make faster times for no reward. Was fun while it lasted though!

Stand on the far right of the stairs and pan camera so you can see as much of the clocktower turning anti clockwise as possible. When you glimpse the window, count to 1.5 then jump. Lag or no lag, you should make it then. Might have to tweak timing a tiny bit but averaged out that should be fine.

EDIT: To add a bit more, don’t rely on what you see or hear since that’s only 100% effective with no delay, so just go by the self-timing.

We do a pretty good job. Obviously there are farmers, but for the most part everybody ignores them and carries on with the event. Always finishing with at least five mins or so when I’m fast enough to NOT get into farmer-flows.

No way since they are fine as is. Sure it’s down to luck if you get one and even then one you can use/want, but that’s what makes them so special. Got the speargun randomly which is cool so leaving in bank for my thief one day but probably just gonna keep as collectors item. Idea I have to keep the exclusivity of the weapons but benefit fractelers who want a skin would involve rings.

Rings currently are nothing but a bank filler or a few silver since you can only use them or sell to merchant. On the other hand if you are lucky to get a fractal skin, might not be one you want, can use or already have. So idea is to be able to trade rings for fractal skins but in order to keep the rarity up yet taking into account the potential time and effort needed to receive a skin, could trade rings for a specific skin.

Something like:
- 30 ascended rings(which you trade for an item like ’ Dessa’s power ring’ so you can forge it)
-100 pristine relics
-Legendary stuff which costs a lot to make but not clovers or honour badges. Something accessible by playing the game cos I have no idea about legendaries ><
-Named/themed exotic of weapon you want ( so unofficial ‘fractal bound’ which drop within the fractals like Tribal stuff I’ve gotten)

Any soulbound, bought, self upgraded rings or crafted/karma exotic won’t be able to used either. These numbers aren’t set in stone just seem reachable to me with dedication but not in the reach of just anybody who does fractals as you have to do a lot of fractals to get the relics but more importantly the random drop rings.

Kept all my rings in the hope they become useful one day hence this idea. What do you think? Pretty sure the 48+ club have gotten way more rings from that alone and either have or working on a legendary.

Edit: forgot they’ll still be account bound to keep in line with Anets decision to keep fractal stuff exclusive to fractals

The Nightmare Court is a threat though currently focused on sylvari whilst the other ‘non standard’ sylvari Canach was dealt with. My guess is although Scarlet (and Canach’s) vision of how they wanted to change the world might have started well, something changed causing their goal to remain the same, but the means became more ‘twisted’. Forgot what happened to Canach for change to happen.. Think he got captured or something. So in that respect, they’re not evil at all as their end goals aren’t to wipe out living life like the dragons but to simply improve the world as they see fit and unless Ventari’s Tablet commandments are opposed beyond reasonable doubt, the Pale Tree deems it OK … Different but OK.

Did give a warning when Scarlet was undergoing her transformation exploring the metaphysical universe as at the end of the day, she is her child and just had to make sure she didn’t end up trying to wipe ALL living things. The Pale Tree is weird like that simply because of the above two commandments so Scarlet is nothing more than a weed who must be allowed to exist in the world and is essentially needed to be in line with the tablet plus I’m sure the Pale Tree is sick of Trahearne as much as we all are!

Regarding OoW’s non involvement, maybe they had no interest in her as she was more of a Durmand Priory type or if they did know, for whatever reason let her be though this is assuming the orders haven’t been mentioned for a reason rather than being forgotten they exist out of the personal story, which I feel is true in the vast majority of the living story overall.

@Instructor Mancito: Thanks to that annoying thing called ‘Real Life Work’, unable to enrol a new student into RATS but the two weeks of classes a Lightbringer participated in will definitely be used in future assaults against the lesser races! (not so much sylvari who aren’t bookahs)

The true winner in any matchup is whoever is having the most fun, no matter the score. Take a leaf out of ET’s book.

Unless you get lucky with a random group of people, doing really high fractals where you have to know these stuff otherwise you wouldn’t reach that level or doing in a predetermined group (guildies, friends), it’s not as easy as it seems. People have hard enough time with range on them cos they can’t dodge. Better to be safe in these situations. I like getting Mossman cos around half the groups don’t melee Bloomhunger for example.

Nice vid though. Learnt a lot from it so when I get higher level (33) I’ll at least have a rough idea on new techniques.

Wow, I have probably one of the kitteniest connections this side of dial up, and I have never had the issues managing my gold that people are “concerned” about. Over buying at merchants, fat fingering or multi-clicking the TP, game errors? (I must be uber kittening lucky apparently), etc. I really think some of you are overreacting just a tad.

Tell me … do you keep all your money at home as well in real life? Stacks of cash? Gold ingot? Maybe piles of diamonds?

Do you carry all your ingame gold on you and have always had a bank balance of 0/0/0? Seems like a money management problem people have and not having it centralised as this change will remove the safety net on overspending. If you want a separate bank feature, dev posted you can use the ‘individual guild’ method which is possibly even better if you keep at it to get the guild bank upgrades! It means as well as this new stuff, you get a personal gold and item bank.

Now stop overreacting since I just fixed the situation for you and don’t forget all the other currency storage

IMO this doesn’t have to deal with being able to beat everything. A thief won’t win vs. several other classes already for other reasons anyways.

The real question is… should 1 boon which can be easily kept up 100% of the time be able to passively shut down multiple builds/classes just because they involve multi-hitting attacks? I say no.

Most of what I was going to say has already been said so I’ll keep short. Doesn’t seem to be easily kept up unless built for it, meaning they sacrifice a lot, so in that respect it’s ok I guess.

Also if I’m reading right, it’s not the single target retaliation but the multi target retalition which is a bigger problem. Honestly, nerfing retalition aimed at reducing effectiveness of AOE aspect would make the single aspect kinda pointless. Still think the best thing in World would be to just not use these attacks and try remove the boons. Not that many rapid fire attacks so needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few. Not a L2P thing at all, just gotta not rapid attack or boon steal somehow either yourself or somebody else.

I’d probably run though and take out rage on some skelk or drake. Can’t take retaliation damage if I’m running away Muahahahahahahahaha!

Thief mains (at least the posters) need to learn one simple thing :You can’t kill everything. Thieves who post here seem to complain about anything which they can’t burst/kill/involves adapting to the situation more than anyone else. I personally don’t waste my time with thieves since they’ll

A: Burst since I mess up and they get the initiation
B: Stealth every chance they get to wear me down
C: fall behind then stealth and just be annoying since neither of us can kill each other
D: they are P/P – X so I just cry and bleed to death though I’ve improved since the last time I met one (can only remove conditions so much)

If retaliation is a problem to your build, simply adapt and try to find an opening or accept your losses and run away since every class has a build / profession its probably better to not fight solo or similar especially if you use Unload against Guardians. Kinda like limiting conditions against Necromancers so they don’t send them back to you. It’ll make you a much better player this way too!
