To be fair, I think that trait was overrated in the first place. People are so used to it, just like with evasive arcana, that they don’t know how to play without it…

I agree here I think renewing stamina is a stronger trait than Elemental attunement.

Soo… i am forced to use the new heal skill now because Arcane Wave targeting takes too much time to be any use for combo fields ? great -.-

Also, seeing as i have to take time to target now, it cant be used to tag fast dieing enemies anymore, meaning not only is my effectiveness diminished, but also my income -____-

Just take ground targeting when you release a button and it should pop instant. Its a extra step but it should still function the same. Not like they can see it coming.

Well one of my guildies is testing 0/0/30/10/30 right now and I gotta say it is pretty strong against condi classes like p/d thieves, I suspect it will be against necro’s, and engi’s. This is just in a 1v1 situation but it looks pretty powerful.

Watched another condi ele running 30 earth also and looks good on condi eles also.

I suspect necro’s especially will not be amused fighting a 30 earth condition ele. Combine with rock solid for ether renewal heal bursting. Profit.

Pretty sure there is a ICD on cleansing water so you might not cleanse your allies when you attune to water and soothing wave regen procs beforehand.

In other words another selfish passive trait that doesn’t help your team.

In WvW there is no ICD on cleansing water the OP referenced WvW. sPvP there is a ICD. I have tested this in WvW myself a while ago.

So did anyone else notice we can now take 3 traits that give us regen at the same time? To be specific, soothing wave, soothing disruption, and elemental attunement. Coupled with cleansing water, and at least in WvW you’ll be looking at constant condi clears along with almost perma regen. Kind of renders diamond skin a bit more irrelevant imo (note I have yet to try diamond skin).

What I said from the beginning about soothing wave that it would a pretty decent trait IF you run 30 water.

Is Arcane Blast not used or you never used it? LightningBlaze stated that he wills stick with Blast over wave even after the change to wave. S/D ele’s I think are pretty fond of blast. Also Wave = AOE for the same damage as Blast with a finisher + now with range.

Blast = 1500 range single target projectile finisher BUT with only 20s cd not traited.

They are pretty different and I feel like wave is much better sure you have to aim it now but it shouldn’t be that big of a deal.

So far I have found that arcane retribution is actually working like arcane power now and lasts for the correct 30 secs instead of 5 like before.

The new burning fire trait is affected by cantrip mastery. So the icd is 32 secs haven’t field tested this but the tooltip changes to reflect it.

I’m a fan of the arcane wave change that radius is huge!!

Fire Magic II—Conjurer: Moved this trait to the Adept tier.

Fire Magic III—Ember’s Might: The effect of this trait has been changed. Burns applied now last 25% longer.

Fire Magic VIII—Burning Fire: This trait has a new effect and now automatically uses

Cleansing Fire when the elementalist has 3 conditions. There is also a 40-second cooldown. Moved to the Master tier.

Fire Magic 25—Burning Rage: Increased the damage dealt to burning foes from 5% to 10%.

Air Magic V—Soothing Winds: Increased the conversion from 5% to 7%.

Air Magic XI—Tempest Defense: Decreased the cooldown from 60 seconds to 25 seconds.

Earth Magic 5—Stone Flesh: Increased the toughness while attuned to Earth magic to 1.5 per level (120 at level 80).

Only the GS Zerk Mesmers running P/U are a problem. You can avoid the rest of them easily. In duels however P/U mesmers are annoying to fight as D/D because you can’t stay on them and they run around cast phantasms take a little bit of damage blink cast phantasms invis rinse and repeat.

Honestly the damage output isn’t that great except izerker the fight lasts kind of long and it is a fight that d/d ele’s can win it is just really annoying running around chasing them as they stall to cast more phantasms. Either way in a duel it is annoying in the open world I just ignore them. Shatter mesmers though that is a very hard fight that can end quickly.

Changes to the Dec 10 patch preview

Ouch bunker healing build eles will become a pain to beat with this incoming Soothing Wave redesign. I guess I have to burst more now with this patch.

More sustain I love it and you don’t have to go all out boon duration to keep decent uptime on regen

And I thought the purpose of these trait reshuffling and stuff was to reduce the dependency of elementalists on the Water and Arcana trait lines. Oh, the irony

But don’t get me wrong though. I’m not saying they should not proceed with the suggested change. It is a good change in fact. That’s one useless trait being modified and improved and that’s a very good thing. I just wish they push more modifications like this in the other trait lines though.

I feel that in order to make ppl less relying on DD arcane or bunker ele builds, we should just open up more build possibilities instead of trying to nerf water or arcane. The problem we faced most the time was the low dmg and slow animation in most skills. Thats why we are focusing on heavy rotation. Which needed arcane. And water is for survivability if we are going so close to enemy with just cloth and little hp. I feel the source of problem lies in our options. Our only far ranged weapon that can keep us safe is the Staff. But Staff has horrible offensive skills and low dps and uber slow animation. We can never be a nuker or glass cannon in range. No amount of changes to the fire/ lightning traits can help us if we are gonna rely on water and arcane as our staple. Earth is worse. We get targetted if we increase toughness. And condition isnt working as well as burst dps.

D/D ele is popular 0/10/0/30/30 is popular but it is not the only build out there. Can we just all understand that not everyone is bunker. It took 1 gm trait in fresh air to make people give up at least 10 points in arcana lets see what happens. If you change your weapon sets away from D/D I think you are foolish to still run 30 points in arcana this is before 10 december patch. Fresh air is great with S/D I like it with S/F also. I love D/D the best and the standard trait setup but it is not the only build out there. There is a big difference between 15 points and air and 30 points in air.

TLDR: Not everyone is a bunker and not every ele plays 0/10/0/30/30.

It seems like you people are disappointed because this skill is not overpowered.

NO, the reccurring theme is that people are disappointed that the heal does not address core defense and mobility issues with the class. Not to mention the AWave overlap change, which isn’t needed either.

If AB had been a 300range forward or backward blink, even with a very low base heal and say a 15sec CD, people would have been ecstatic.

What we got instead is nothing new.

So you expected a 6 slot heal to address the core defense and mobility issues of the class in 1 skill? Could you point me to any heal that does that for any class all by it’s self? Only one that comes to my mind is glyph since it would give you protection or swiftness, or regen mobility and defense all in one heal no traits necessary

If AB was as you suggested nobody would be ecstatic because you can blink 900 range and heal for 5k with ether renewal. So if it had a lower base heal but it did that people would say “I could do this with ether renewal”.

AB is niche but all of the new skills are niche all of the previous heals are more general use. Of the new heals coming out tomorrow I can’t think of one of them I would rather have than AB. The ones that seem good are on long cd’s like the warrior heal. The guardian heal is similar to AB, none of the new signets are better than SOR. I would say every classes new heal is niche and the one you will probably see ran the most is warrior and guardian in zerg battles.

Should be easy to test slot the trait, press 3 arcane skills watch if the duration is higher than 15 secs. Profit.

The traits icon appears on your buff bar so you can see the duration of the trait.

The Obsidian Sanctum is not good enough

Ugh really? Ok where is your post that says trolls stop interrupting the gvg area we created by the windmill? Better yet your post pointed at the people that decided the windmill was the best place to GvG?

The sanctum is awesome and it is in the open world just like the windmill is. The sanctum IS good enough until a better spot is made. I think most people are pretty happy with the sanctum I like it alot and there is always duels and build talks going on with other servers in between GvG.

It actually really cool your in there dueling or just chatting a big guild group comes to watch then your like is it a GvG? You spread the word in guild chat people come to watch its like a impromptu important event if you are into the scene. I find it pretty awesome.

I think the damage really should go up. If you’re running high crit damage and power you are looking at what maybe 1k damage. I agree that if it requires you to be in melee for the max heal it should move up in damage comparable to arcane wave. Then you would see more arcane traits used. If I know I can hit everyone for 2k+ if they are close then it is more attractive and maybe opens up decisions to use it offensively. The damage that it has now I think is to low.

I think the real gem here is the Arcane Wave change is a bigger change for all ele. I feel like you can always swap one cantrip if you are a cantrip ele. 900 range on wave is very tempting to run I always felt like waves weakness was the radius this allows you to now make sure you can hit it.

Its a instant cast range aoe with ground targeting. I already see churning earth setups with wave to bait a dodge. You can do this now with blast but blast doesn’t hit for as much damage as wave.

PS: looked at the stream again and there was no damage change to it or cast time added. Its the same exact skill just with ground target and 900 range.

Mesmer heal is healing signet on crack.
And you can’t even use the pathetic ab damage to kill illusions.

Nah I don’t think it will be that good compared to what most mesmers use now. I think it will allow a mesmer to bunker in sPvP possibly, signet of illusions, 20 dueling. 30 chaos, 20 inspiration will become popular bunker mesmers with phantasmal defender.

Out in WvW maybe for trolling but regular roaming don’t think it will be that good. The best DPS is shatter mesmer, the other ones take longer to build up damage. That mesmer heal isn’t designed for shatter mesmers at all.

Something else I picked up in the stream.

Conversion traits are bumped up based on tier this is uniform across all classes. Example like soothing winds.

Adept conversion = 7%
Master = 10%
Grandmaster = 13%

My thoughts after watching the stream in organized group setting I think this heal will be pretty decent for support if you can keep your personal sustain through weapon heals. I will run this for sure with staff and 30 air.

With D/D I think SOR, Ether, Glyph are better options for solo roaming those heals are better options.

What I do like though is Arcane Wave 900 range guaranteed crit. Arcane wave hits for pretty substantial damage if you are geared with good power and critical damage. I will probably run this for groups when I go S/D 30 air 1v1 the buff to arcane wave I think is pretty good. Solo roaming I’ll stick with my cantrips. I like the arcane wave change alot. It is the hardest hitting arcane skill and they just gave it 900 range.

Traited your looking at the hardest hitting arcane skill at 900 range, the only arcane trait I like is arcane lightning.

can't deal with thieves

The most annoying spec in the game is a P/U mesmer doesn’t matter what kind of ele you are. I think P/U mesmer is the most annoying build I think created so far in Guild Wars 2.

I find P/D thieves to be much easier to fight now post nerf to perplexity runes. It is enough that I stopped running -condition duration food and went back to dps food. P/D thieves where never a extremely difficult fight you just really need to be aware of the Ice Spike they still from us that will wreck you against a P/D thief.

I still believe S/D is the #1 Thief spec vs Ele. D/P really doesn’t have alot of dps because the rotation they use allows you time to heal up. S/D thieves, with signet of agility, withdraw, shadow step will port all over the place.

Against thieves I feel like D/D and S/D have about the same chance against thieves with S/D having it much easier against P/D condi thieves as long as your getting good blinds when they try to CnD. I don’t see alot of S/F play but S/F seems to do pretty well against thieves.

Part of the reason I believe these aren’t finished heals is the ele heal isn’t affected by arcane mastery. It does work with endurance regen and elemental surge if you look at the tooltip after you change traits. Didn’t check if it works with arcane lightning.

The tooltip we can access in-game probably isn’t the finished one, no. You’re right about that.

The one Dulfy is showing should be, though. She has early access to the new patches (she’s either a tester, or its because of her website, maybe both). She’s said as much herself in the past. So what she’s showing should be the one we get on Tuesday, unless they change it in the next few days.

What she is showing is the same ones posted on reddit. They read exactly the same for me as the ones she is showing. The chat codes she provided are the ones on reddit. Dulfy doesn’t get early access anymore why she hasn’t had a preview of content release before the patches go live in a long time. She stated so herself on reddit that she doesn’t get early access anymore. If you look on the thread on reddit these tooltips have been in the client for some time now.

Its a burst finisher who needs it to have base healing?! Its also on a 25 sec cd and its a 20% per target life steal like heal. Burst ele is going to be godly in wvw and spvp i am just going to love to see the faces of though reg wars when they find out that there reg is nothing skill related.

I don’t think these are the finished tooltips for the skills. Everything I read says they have been in the client for some time.

I think dulfy has 521 healing power because the signet of ether is the same value I have for 3 illusions.

Take the mesmer one for example it is 788 with no healing power. 3 illusions is incredibly easy for a mesmer to have out and if that is per sec that would be crazy high. The base for just 1 illusion is higher than SOR.

The dev stream preview is tomorrow I think these are probably the names but I think the functionality will be somewhat different than just what is on the tooltips currently.

Any reason why Lightning Flash is so buggy...

? LF works everywhere that blink does. You can blink and lf onto the same obstacles.

Also Lightning flashes damage is not minimal it can do more damage than arcane wave it just isn’t guaranteed to crit but when it does it can hit for decent damage. Personally I get 1.5k+ up to 2.5k on squishy I have been using it alot lately making sure I actually hit with it to make use of it’s damage. The cooldown is a bit long at 40 secs but I always run cantrip mastery so it doesn’t bother me.

On it’s own merit most would take blink from mesmer but when you start factoring in traits I think LF beats blink.

Blink traited = Distance, CD reduction, stun break

LF Traited = Regen, vigor, remove a condition, might, damage, cd reduction.

I run D/D most times when I am zerging I put dat staff on change food curry butternut get the crit damage up to 88 crit damage (celestial stats I was wrong about you and apologize) Lay some cc spells and when the opportunity is present Meteor shower into tornado to watch 8k-10k hits and lulz. After that is finished switch back to laying CC.

This is running 0/10/0/30/30 and just swapping traits on the fly. When I know I am going staff for a while I run 0/30/0/20/20 which will probably change to 0/30/10/20/10 after 10 december patch.

Any word on when this is coming? I personally love new runes and sigils and am excited for the rework of many of these runes and sigils.

As it is right now there are maybe 10 runes that people want all 6 pieces.

This will open alot of new builds up and hopefully it is coming soon. I think they are on the right track as some of the more recent releases have been much better than originals.

I actually think (even though alot of people hate the rune) that perplexity is a well designed rune as a condition damage template. The 6 piece needed the icd which it finally received but as far as how the rest of the rune is set up it is great.

I am disappointed with Rune of Resistance the 5/6 is good but the 6 piece is pretty bad. I was really hoping it would have been something like: When activating a signet gain aegis for 30 seconds 60 sec cd. 5 second of aegis for using a signet is very good imo. I thought I would throw it on my warrior it would be perfect until I saw how short the aegis is.

Had some really great fights today with a necro, and the first couple of fights he would completely demolish me, but after asking him if he could give me some pointers on how to counter his play/build (staff, condi/fear spec) the fights became much more even. I started saving my stun breakers and blocks for when I was up close, changed to ether renewel and constantly moved to be behind him (he told me that was pretty much the most annoying thing for a necro) and the fights started swaying more heavily in my favor. Sadly I didn’t get the first couple of crushing defeats recorded like I wanted to.

I really wanna give that Necro a big shout out for sharing such (imo) vital information with me, because I don’t think many would do that and it completely changed my way of thinking prior to going up against a necro (with that kind of spec)

His advice on staying behind a necro is sound it looks like this

This was a few days ago this necro is 30 points in curses for pretty much perma weakness so it was wrecking my dps. I have a necro also but most necros don’t run this build anymore he didn’t have 30 points in spite so he didn’t burn on crit but did transfer burns back to me when I put them on him. Necro was really good I think I went 5-3 against him. I don’t know his exact build but I assume X/30/20/X/X with greater marks. He was pretty tanky which is why I also run 20 in death magic because the typical 30/20/0/0/20 necro (the popular instagib condi spec) is really squishy.

You will notice that at one point I immobilze use cone of cold but don’t chill. Necro’s heal is increased for each condition on them. Which scales very very well it is 100% aka scales like cleansing wave and per condition scales like signet of restoration.

The big reason to kite behind them is that you can sometimes force important skills to go on full cooldown(bug). Necro’s don’t really have telegraphed moves outside of dark path which most necros’ wont use until after they hit you with doom.

I think you guys are downing ether too much. It may not be the best heal for every situation, but it’s a good choice for when you don’t know what your next opponent will be. I roam with ether and it is a very good all purpose heal. I also duel with ether as I prefer to keep my duels as close to real fights as possible (unless it’s someone I can’t beat with my usual setup and really want to.

The interrupts really aren’t that bad except for a couple builds, and the massive amount of condi classes out there atm make the removal quite nice to have. Admittedly, it does seem there is currently a shift towards power builds again for roaming and I have been thinking about other options.

Agree with this, in the end it is all personal preference. I roam with SOR the only time I ever pull ether out is against a necro in duels if I really am trying to win the duel other wise I don’t change the up stuff when I duel because it is what I usually run. I always run cleansing fire so most of the time when I duel I run cleansing fire even if I am fighting a Warrior with power build.

It is all personal preference though I don’t think ether renewal is a terrible heal it’s great for S/D fresh airs or S/F and staff. I always think as if I was fighting myself and I know I would interrupt my own ether renewal in a mirror match so I don’t run it. That’s just my logic.

I moved my boon duration set to my celestial gear because it lacks power and toughness, and therefor gains more might that helps with condi output, and brings the power up exponentially when coupled with bloodlust. It also increases the time on protection. I use this for D/D 3-5 man roaming, and sometimes in dungeons, as boon duration makes all of our boons carry over to our allies, and friendly npcs.

My PVT set is melandru, and knights has travelers. As to whether I have chosen the best sets to have those rune sets is yet to be determined. I have a zerker set with eagle runes for staff. I use the knights and zerker for staff, and zerker for s/d pve.

With 30 arcana, and no boon duration from gear, I average 13 stacks as D/D. That’s good enough for me. Most of the time spent in WvW is cleansing/ breaking out/ kiting when solo roaming. As thus, knights/traveler, and pvt/melandu excel at making it take the absolute longest for non-zerkers to get me even close to dying, if at all. While I might not win, I don’t die if I’m smart enough to break away when necessary. I really only die, roaming, to running into more enemies while having already used my cds in escaping others.

I miss having boon duration on either knights or pvt, though. Because having the swiftness kind of makes up for not running 25% movement speed. It’s a passive speed boost that works without wasting cds, though. At times I have even used windborne dagger instead of the vigor on crit, just to make a certain build work my way. I really dislike using signet of air.

With celestial I use power+vit food.
With staff I use 200 power on kill + 10% crit food.
With knights/pvt I use anything with power or vit on it as it doesn’t matter much.

I wonder, you guys running boon duration, are you more partial to -condition duration food, or +boon duration food ?

Another really good food as D/D front liner is Loaf of Saffron Bread

-condition duration food all day everyday no substitute for me personally. I don’t run ether renewal so it helps alot. I keep the omnomberry cream on me for groups with my 2 traveler 2 monk 2 water set that is all PVT armor with PVT ascended amulet. I have a few different trinket sets I use when I run my PVT set sometimes I focus on healing or just get as bunker as possible or run it with my dps trinkets.

When it is staff time I run power and crit damage food or precision and crit damage food.

My main roaming set is – condition duration food though.

If I am correct looking at the video he has around 410 healing power which is plenty for SOR. As a comparison I have 518 healing power and it heals for 254 in the video he is healing for 243. Ether renewal takes the enemies heal skills, cooldowns, and basically reduces their recharge rate by 3.5 seconds. To each his own but personally I feel that if you are D/D SOR is the better heal there isn’t anything wrong with popping SOR in a pinch and using the active a ele can stall and heal back up for it to come off cooldown and it takes 50% of your healing power so it isn’t terrible. Most of the time when you are running around using ether you are taking damage anyway and not getting the full heal or you are blowing important cooldowns just to get it off.

SOR is better you just have to be careful and dodge important attacks. If he would have fought that guardian with ether renewal he would have lost or it would have been a tie because he couldn’t engage with good pressure and if he did engage he would have to back off and heal every 15 secs.

The guardian was dps but was also healing the entire fight passively, the guardian also had retal and SOR helps deal with retal look at his health every time he started to lightning whip the guardian. He just needed to abuse the lightning whip range better and not stay in the Symbol of Wrath which was when he started taking the most damage. I honestly just think he isn’t really familiar with guardians or dps type guardians like that one. They are starting to become more popular and I was surprised the first time I fought one but SOR is definitely the better heal against dps guards.

Anyone decent would have interrupted ether and if you notice that guardian was running Bane Signet! and would have easily interrupted his ether.

How and What to Gear?

Thanks for all your feedback, I like Crosknight’s idea since i dont like being too squishy, but can someone tell me where to get all this better PvP gear? Only PvP gear i can find is stuff like “PvP Light XXXX of the Ogre” where can I get the better gear? And im assuming the PvE gear comes with instance runs? Thanks again

You can get PVT gear is called Soldier Gear or Invader gear its same thing just named differently depending where you get it. In WvW with badges there is a vendor that sells it for badges and some gold, I think the top is 1g and that is the most expensive piece I think. In WvW it is called Invader, you can get pieces from the temples in ORR I know grenth has 2 or 3 pieces but you can look up the chart on the wiki to see where you get power, vitality, toughness from.

But remember that Mesmer’s Blink is only 1200 if traited.

Very true it is usually 900 range and not alot of mesmers actually take the trait. Phantasms have fury and blade training share same tier and are way better than that trait. It would be like putting a range increase to lightning flast in the same tier as zephyr’rs boon or throwing a trait like that anywhere in water.

They would probably do it if but would remove the damage portion of it since it potentially does more damage than arcane blast(just not a guaranteed crit). It is also good to remove aegis and blinds and clutch kills on runners.

Signet of Resto all day everyday! Anyone decent is going to interrupt you I run signet against Engis who use conditions. The only place I would recommend Ether is against a necro but even then if they are decent they will interrupt it. It doesn’t even take a second to go into deathshroud and doom you might as well consider the combo instant you can do it so fast.

Signet is doable against necros but ether makes the fight more even. Everyone else its always signet a dps guard will roast you if you run ether and they regen the whole fight constantly so you have to keep up.

Anyway I’ll watch the video now, apologies for the rant SOR is my favorite heal despite it’s weakness against condis.

Edit: Just watched the vid yea if you ran ether there the guardian probably would have gotten you or the fight would have never ended.

I m quite happy with them

I gave this a go today dropped my water runes for 2 melandru and so far it is pretty good. Have to duel a engi but against P/D thief it held up good. My other set I just switched from melandru to hoelbrak so the dps there is much better but it is glassier.

You might have seen me dueling actually lol i just recently made my own perplexity ele build 3 days ago with scepter/focus i don’t use dagger.

It’s absolutely beast mode 1v1 but lackluster in group battles I have yet to lose a duel against anything that isnt a hammer war

Forgot about lightning hammer. That’s very true. For me though it’s just something missing that would make the player feel like they are hitting hard/packing a punch. I was thinking more of an explosion. Something similar to big ole bomb from engineers. I just feel like especially in WvW or in dungeons I feel more like an annoyance than a threat. My main is a thief and I feel like people are much more cautious when approaching me. Than when I play my ele.

Cause thief has a backstab and everyone knows about backstab and stealth so you have to be aware of them that just goes with the territory. Engi’s can insta gib you but people aren’t as cautious around them as thieves either.

It just goes with the territory of thieves and I would say necros. The popular builds can kill you in less than 10 seconds so everyone knows to be really careful around them.

S/D eles or S/F eles people should be very careful around them. D/D glass isn’t popular.

Engis can kill you as fast as a thief but that burst build isn’t widly popular and it’s easy to spot rifle or Pistol even then I don’t see alot of Engis running it full Mr Beetus or Five Gauge glassy.

@frownyclown they added a 8 sec icd to the 6 piece the rest of the rune is unchanged. It does hurt your builds ability to apply the confusion rapidly with shocking aura, earthquake and updraft

@LightningBlaze what server are you on? I remember seeing your char pic here on forums and one day there was a little asura ele that got me with the FGS when I was on my thief he looked like your character. Don’t think I ever ran into you on my ele though.

Nothing against my S/D elementalist users but do any of you think that D/D should get something similar to rock barrier?

When you use magnetic leap you get rock barrier. People don’t like to use magnetic leap often cause you take damage after its awkward ending animation. The cooldowns are close at 12 and 15 secs maybe just remove the option to hurl?

I am always thinking about ele stuff.

So previously it was all about boon duration now many people take a specific focused rune like ogre. While Effective Power isn’t a completely accurate calculation of damage it can give you somewhat of an dea between 2 builds which will do more damage.

Maybe alot of people know this or I am not really bringing anything up new but if you have 30 in arcana is there a better choice than boon duration for dps?

I ran some the same direct damage builds into buildcraft take ogre for example good dps rune right? With only 30% boon duration you are probably looking at maybe at best 16 stacks of might and you won’t maintain that for very long. So lets say 13 realistically if you have the same gear and trinkets boon duration runes will do more damage once it reaches 20 might stack which is really easy and can be maintained easily with 22 probably being where you would sit if everything goes your way. With ogre you won’t have 100% uptime on fury realistically with 75% boon duration setup you will realistically have 100% fury uptime the 75% boon duration allows you to not focus on stacking if your stunned, dazed, or knockdown and still maintain 17+ stacks easily.

So it is really frontloaded damage vs backloaded damage. The beginning of the fight the dps specific rune will be better for damage but after about 15 seconds of the fight boon duration is better all while healing you more since regen will last longer, protection lasts longer.

I have 2 armors one is a more focused rune set and another is boon duration but I can’t really see at all why take any other setup up if you plan to kill people in WvW than boon duration with 30 in arcana and D/D. Divinity runes which are really popular aren’t even in the same ball park.

The biggest downside I see is that it can be stripped but that can happen if you have boon duration or not so it isn’t really a problem imo.
