any good spvp builds after dec 10 massive nerfs
0/30/20/0/20 for S/F for s/tPvP this also for S/D. This is what my guildie said he mains ele Ranked 5th NA for Team Que. This is IF you have to put a Ele kind of thing.
(edited by oZii.2864)
well seems every1 is celest fan! fine, i give up! celest is best
celestial is good just don’t put it on trinkets. I wouldn’t personally go full celestial armor I have 3 pieces of celestial.
Anyone optimized gear and traits post patch?
I’m relatively new to ele so any help would be great
There is no optimal because we are talking about essentially pvp so there are alot of factors. If your goal is frontliner and your new to ele full pvt with zerk trinkets is a good place to start. Boon duration runes as you get more comfortable playing ele then you can start to trim your hp down.
Azunai’s build is back loaded damage nothing wrong with that at all. Boon duration builds work well on ele. Even in his celestial gear. Just remember boon duration builds require a wind up to get rolling for great damage. Meaning you build up might stacks. Where as not running boon duration you have better front loaded damage and wont suffer a large dps loss if your might stacks are stripped.
All of the “reduce recharge on x element skills by 20%”. Every other class that takes these gets another large bonus, like range increases, bonus stats etc., but elementalists only get the reduced cooldown, which doesn’t particularly help anyway when you have a minimum ten seconds before you can switch back to an attunement and many cooldowns are less than that.
Yeah, have always thought the *Alacrity traits should also be reducing their respective Element’s attunement CD, ie:
X Alacrity: “reduces recharge of x element skills by 20% and reduces x attunement CD by 2sec”. Stacks with arcane CD reduction.
That’s not a bad idea at all if alacrity aligned with element cd reduction so you could still flow with your rotations. I know Jon mentioned the thought of making alacrity reduced by 25% not sure if they are going to do that or not.
For elemental attunement I think that if they ever gave it to use inherent that it would be a nerfed version. No more 5 second base.
If we look at the trait though and lets say we are devs and afraid of power creep. Would a Fresh Air S/D ele be to strong if it had elemental attunement inherent with the current base durations?
If S/D just so happened to be to powerful would elemental attunement be the first trait that would get targeted for a nerf if you wanted to “shave” if it was found OP.
S/D fresh air is the only build I can think of out there that would make them afraid of power creep. In theory you can be pretty tanky with S/D because of Rock barrier while still having over 100 crit damage WvW.
So the “scary” boon on elemental attunement with fresh air is protection. If elemental attunement was inherent you could move those points to power or earth for protection on aura. I don’t think D/D is scary anymore and really can’t think of anyway to make it scary as in survivable but able to instagib. Only thing that makes D/D instagib is double arcanes high power and crit damage.
So the power creep has to refer to sPvP. There the main complaint that comes up against eles is S/D eles with arcanes basically instagibbing. Which may have had a impact on the arcane wave change. Even still Ele isn’t really used in high ranking matchups. Seems more like a frenzy or thief 30/30/x/x/x build that they worry about popping up from ele.
My guild has one of the top tPvP teams in NA definitely Top 3 and the tPvP leader Genyen actually mains Ele but doesn’t play Ele for tournaments and hasn’t for a long time.
Hmm not sure what to think right now about Ele. Standard D/D is still in tact for WvW but in tPvP it has been replaced by Warrior. S/D is really the only type of Ele wanted if one is even wanted at all for high Team Queue.
If anything, water and arcana are even more important now, with synergy between cleansing water, elemental attunement, soothing disrutption, and the new soothing wave. Of course this is WvW only.
And there has always been a ton of synergy between water and arcana, since the lower your attunement cooldowns the more often you can trigger healing ripple and condi cleanse from switching to water. There is nowhere near this level of synergy for ANY other traitlines, and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.
Maybe we may have to accept fate that some points will always have to go into arcane even if it is 10 points. To make that better Devs should focus on getting earth and air and fire better synergy with arcana like water has?
Air somewhat does with arcane lightning but that is more with utilities than trait wise.
Fire is it’s own beast.
Can we please get arcane precision bumped up seriously though.
I d trade water 2 for 5 or 6 depending of need on atck/def, and arcane 7 for renewing stamina since your crit would be good enough and stamina is soooo needed for us in pvp
Overall you may lack condi remove imho
I see why he took arcane 7 since it has synergy with elemental surge. Hmm I have similar gear and can try this out using your setup though admittedly I am terrible with focus. I feel I may find myself forced to auto attack in attunements I don’t normally auto attack in since the cds are long on focus. I’ll give it a swing though. I would probably swap arcane wave out for shield though for another stun breaker. Definitely roll ether renewal with this.
I think that Ele is still in a decent place. I always felt that D/D is meant to run 30 arcana and 20 water minimum. It makes sense to run more defensive setup if you are melee.
For WvW if I look at the popular builds for classes I play there is a very common thread.
Mesmers now usually run 20-30 points in their toughness tree.
Thieves run majority 30 points in their toughness tree.
Warriors run 20 minimum in their toughness tree.
I don’t play guardian but I think many builds go into their toughness tree.
Necromancer- I actually run 20 into toughness now but many necros don’t but Deathshroud somewhat helps them with that.
Ele- Is the class that normally doesn’t dip into it’s toughness tree for many builds. Definitely not 30 points in.
In regards to D/D I would like to see something like rock barrier added to dagger mainhand. It makes alot of sense for melee.
I think that some specialized attunement specific traits should be done away with and a few more general use traits added. General use traits are always popular for all classes the less stipulations the better which means the trait is more versatile.
Like someone else said you can’t compare a 2h weapon to a 1h weapon. A better comparison is 1h vs 1h.
Dagger MH dps in air is great with lightning whip. For DPS I think lightning whip is the best dps elementalist have. Unless something has changed. Burst is a different story.
Honestly Dagger main hand is pretty good the auto attacks of fire, water, and earth could use some love. Earth especially a little bit faster cast and maybe range increase.
Water auto attack has vulnerability on it and if you hit with the return it is decent. I think the vuln stacks need to be a bit longer maybe an additional 1 or 2 secs added. It has range at 600 so I can understand putting a situational condition on it like vuln just the stacks are a bit to short.
Fire potentially is good but you have to hit all 3 to get good damage out of it. I personally would like fire to be a projectile finisher so you can combo with fire fields.
Hi all,
In my honest opinion Elementalist is now unplayable in WvW and in pvp.
In 1 vs 1 there is no way to kill a guardian or a warrior, i have to wait 14 seconds to make a combo with fire field (with 30 points in arcana), and when the combo goes well there aren’t other options to damage seriously the opponent which is still alive.
Physical resistance is ridicolous against heavy classes( i have 3000 armor, not bad for a light class). I’m not leaving water and arcana too, i had to spent 20 points in water to have cleansing wave and 30 in arcana to have a good mobility and cooldown times reduced as low as possible. The situation changes against light enemies, but for me and my experience (5 months only ele) this class is the worst of the game in most of the situations. I use S/D. Sorry for my bad english.
Is that 3000 armor with Rock barrier? That is alot probably should shave that off some.
lol at people who feel like arcana is a mandatory trait line
being addicted to evasive arcana is one thing, but that’s all it is: being addicted to it. it’s not at all mandatory, and it isn’t better than other trait linesit’s because water and arcane have the only GM trait worth a kitten (plus fresh air perhaps, though i find it a total gimmick trait).
EA/arcane is good because it works whatever attunement you may be in.
water line is mandatory for survivability.
I find fresh air to be great tbh but it is in my opinion geared specifically for a Staff or Scepter user.
Honestly I don’t even like to swap to scepter. Fresh Air is really great on S/D. The blind is on a short cooldown and you expect a cloak and dagger or another big attack you know Air is there and you have a instant cast blind.
Scepter 2 does alot of damage if you have alot of crit damage. I like to run arcane lighting trait getting to 125 critical damage with blast.
Asended armor isn’t really about the stat normal stats you look for in armor. It is about the defense rating! Armor is calculated as Toughness + Defense ascended armor has about a 5% higher defense rating over exotic.
Like ascended weapons have about a 5% weapon strength average over exotics. The raw stats hardly matter.
The weapon strength average for 2 exotic daggers is 952.5
Ascended weapon strength daggers average is 1000.
Yea not sure what lightning tested it did say he didn’t have good success with it. Perhaps it is meant for S/F with earth 5 invuln on focus you can be immune to physical and condition damage and have a nice size window to put good damage down.
Once your earth 5 is up if you need to pop it. Go for control with the cc skills from Focus like gale, and comet, freeze to keep distance. Might have to see what I can cook up I always like S/F just hated the cooldowns.
Not everything is about D/D ele and 0/10/0/30/30.
Classic D/D ele is still solid.
S/D fresh air build is also a good build.
Staff for zerging is good run however you like there I feel.
Lightning blaze and others Run S/D and do well with it but if you read these forums you think there everyone is a D/D ele. I run it and D/D classic is my favorite build but I recognize that S/D fresh air is also very good.
Are we serious here or joking? Common sense will tell you people adapt and aren’t robots.
Remember when thieves all ran
30/30/put 10 points where ever you want backstab builds, and people cried about it?
I really think this trait will be better on another set /f not everything will work on D/D ele, abuse range with diamond skin in a S/F that is what effective condition classes like engi’s, and necro’s, p/d thieves.
Lets take it back remember D/D deathblossom spam thieves? That is complete trash now why? Cause people adapted and learned to move 2 steps to the left or right. P/D condi is way more effective than D/D.
Lay the smack down at range with S/F they try to spike pop earth 5 for invuln to physical and condition damage profit? I am not making a build around diamond skin just trying to give my fellow eles some inspiration.
I would rather lay condi down at range on someone applying pressure up front before they can even touch me.
My friend runs Dagger/Dagger necro in WvW. I’m like what are you doing? Sure you CAN do it but its not as good as S/x and staff.
Anyway by going 30 in Earth we are looking at giving up some healing possibly unless you want to put 30 earth and 30 water 10 somewhere else for a real bunker condi build. Probably wont die to a condi build with that setup but the question is if you can put out enough damage to kill someone else reasonably.
The trait was never meant to be auto win as soon as you fought someone with brains what is meant to do against smart players is basically give you a decent size window to go HAM on them before they break your threshold. Then you as the elementalist need to gauge if it is worth trying to blow skills to get back up over 90% or fight it out normally.
(edited by oZii.2864)
I was wondering this as well. I haven’t really played my ele for months, but with the recent changes, I have found staff to be way better now than it ever was. I’ve got a solid staff build I like, but was wondering if anyone had advice for scepter/focus in dungeons or wvw?
Check the stickies at the top Zelyhn and Neko’s guides are top notch. They don’t go S/F but D/F. I am sure you can move a few things around to make it work for S/F.
Harmatia V you can search his guide on reddit I think is S/D. His guide is in these forums also but not sticky so you would probably have a better time finding it on Reddit or youtube as he has a channel.
I really wish all the theory crafting stuff made more sense to me. lol
So it is recommended to use celestial stats on helm, leg, chest and weapon to get the most out of it and the rest of the armor dependent on what stats you are most interested in or lacking in?! It is my understanding the crit dmg stats are best on trinkets but would that include celestial? I am super curious if anyone can understand this crazy theory craft stuff.
:) it’s ok just remember most theorycrafting is pve focused but can give you good rules to follow on gear choices to get the most bang for your buck.
The crit dmg is best on trinkets but not celestial.
Look at it like what stat I am currently looking for. Look at your overall stats and if you say you want crit dmg then on trinkets go for crit dmg trinkets that aren’t celestial because they give more crit damage then celestial trinkets.
Or you want crit dmg you can go celestial helm, pants, or coat since crit damage is the best for those pieces.
Look at celestial stat ring then look at celestial coat. The coat gives you more all stats and same crit damage. So you grab a celestial coat and get a specialized ring.
It can seen confusing but essentially it boils down to you asking yourself what stats you want to improve, and then grabbing the gear piece that improves those stat the most with out sacrificing to much of another stat you find important. I enjoy theorycrafting and I do WvW mostly but I remember it isn’t law because PvP is different than pve.
Just remember you don’t have to get celestial items it really comes down to how much you value the defensive stats on celestial when assessing your stats.
(edited by oZii.2864)
Shall tune in just got back in town
Attack is a useless stat weapon strength + power
In game damage is weapon strength*power*skill coefficient/ target armor.
Nothing in game is calculated by attack except attack. Your tool tips are based off the damage formula with a 2600 armor target.
Why it’s better to state what your power is. People can then suggest if you could squeeze more damage out.
About celestial. Celestial Gear – A Comparison

http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/1kigzm/a_comparison_of_defensive_gear_in_build_making/
There are more on reddit but those are 2 good ones. Especially the second one since that is usually why people take celestial when they do is looking for defensive stats.
(edited by oZii.2864)
Currently running exotic celestial
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fEQQFAWhImcbwx3gjDIkCwg4xF4AcY5xOMD2AA-jQCB4iAEEAJfFRjtMKsVXRr8KIqaCpKbYqYRGA-eand ascended is not so big difference
I need more powa :P
Exotic → ascended weapons is about weapon strength not stats.
Exotic→ ascended armor is about the defense rating not so much the stats.
In a PvP environment like WvW it’s minimal on a fight outcome
Celestial stats are best out on armor helm, legs, chest in that order then finally weapons.
Celestial armors value totally depends on how YOU value the defensive stats.
I’m on a plane I can go more in depth later.
Or look up on gw2 reddit for defensive stats in build making[math].
Very good read. Celestial is comparable to soldier and knights pieces.
If fire grab had a base of 25 secs no trait it would totally change fights with offhand dagger Eles.
I’ll take a stab at full pvt armor knights mix or some variation of that. Possibly celestial trinkets. My reasoning is 600-700 lightning whips. Decent crit damage and power should give you 1.1k easily. 60+ crit dmg and some power should give you 1.3k no problem. Just my guess
Um fresh air = forced 30 air magic? What kind of madness is this?
Cleansing water = forced 30 water? Ugh this balance is horrible. I should get traits I like for just 5 points.
Seriously an investment is a investment you want a trait you HAVE to put points somewhere. Renewing stamina is a much more powerful trait than elemental attunement good thing many people on the forums fooled them and they moved elemental attunement up and not renewing stamina.
It sucks for people the want it but only the people that value that trait that high are forced to take it, only because they value the trait that high.
(edited by oZii.2864)
It has to be tied to the class mechanic that is consistent across the game. Auras are like stealth for thieves or mesmers it’s apart of the class but not THE class mechanic.
Unfortunately I don’t see it changing. They just recently brought warriors inline with points towards its class mechanics recharge rate.
Mesmer, thief, warrior it’s all reduction in class mechanic recharge.
Now necro’s get life pool for investment and a trait for cool down.
So the best we can hope for I think is the base to be reduced further.
I do agree water adept now needs some love. The choices there where easy cause the good traits shined and people ignored the rest. I think soothing wave is fine at adept but it needs 30 water to be decent on its own it is pretty bad. Cantrip mastery is good at adept. I like diogo suggestion to help the other traits.
I kind of see what they did was have weapon cd reductions move up and utility traits down to adept. So arcane, cantrip, glyphs, signets, conjure cd reductions are all adept now. Once they fix the traits affect traits it will be better. Like cantrip mastery works on burning fire trait but not armor of earth.
It’s about similar functions not appearances. They didn’t want two skills that function almost exactly alike. PBAoE Blast finisher and PBAoE Blast finisher that heals, was too similar.
Warrior:
Endure Pain – Take no damage from attacks. You are still susceptible to conditions and crowd control effects.
Defiant Stance – Heal yourself. Absorb all incoming strikes for a period of time. They’re both stances, they both cause no damage while active. One heals at the same time. It’s exactly like both arcanes blasting nearby enemies but one heals at the same time.
That can’t be the reason why they changed Arcane Wave, since they didn’t change Endure Pain. So what was the reason?
Huh? Endure is physical damage but still affected by conditions. Defiant works against condition damage also. So change endure pain and zerker stance cause defiant stance does both of them albeit for only 3 seconds.
So your running around instagib mode and your instagib has taken a slight hit. I can see the issue you would have with the change. It still is a very slight hit on your setup. Running that spec every bit matters I understand your reason why you don’t like the change since that’s what you run.
I agree with some of what is said here. About people thinking every balance change should revolve around 0/10/0/30/30. I love standard d/d there is nothing wrong with loving that build and that being your main build but it isn’t the only ele build.
I feel that d/d Eles should run minimum 15 water and 30 arcana because your melee it makes sense to get as much incoming healing as possible nothing wrong with that. S/d has 2 high heals and is partly ranged so I go 0/30/0/20/20 do fine with it evasive isn’t needed with s/d.
It’s ok if d/d revolves mostly around 15 water and 30 arcana. All classes have build/weapon sets centered around certain trait lines.
Shatter Mesmer 30 illusions. Every build 20 dueling mandatory
Warrior hammer 20 minimum defense have a gs? 20 arms. Warhorn? 20 tactics.
Thief 15 shadow arts kind of mandatory no matter what you run.
Necro condi minimum 20 curses, want to kill ppl fast? 30 spite
What I think we will see is d/f and s/f builds for fire line in PvP. Not sure which one but not ever trait change made will be for d/d or s/d or staff.
Well you wouldn’t really have anything up once you cycled once or twice. In a sense they could just remove it and icd the swap traits like you said. If it was like that I don’t see it being op. I just think the global icd should be removed and I would be happy.
Not sure what you replace with investment into the arcana line. Celestial was suggested before but +30 to all stats is meh. After I thought about that suggestion. +60 with 2 critical dmg would be really strong easily reaching 120 critical damage if you wanted with gear. 3k lightning whips would be fun though.
You know I got <3 for you Nex I just try to be a voice of reason. There will never be a build that beats all builds no matter the profession but we all want competitive builds. Every class including ele has weakness vs certain professions builds.
I think classic d/d and variants do well against, guards, power thieves, engineers, rangers, any warrior build that doesn’t have a mace, or hambow wars.
That’s not to bad at all
My S/D ele’s fresh air buddies out there can do well against more specs than d/d. It certainly is the more desired ele type in tPvP. I don’t run s/d mainly but I think it is ele’s best spec now. In a 1v1 s/d vs d/d ele I give advantage to d/d but against every other build out there I think the edge is s/d.
Those are set ups I know the most about and I think ele does well and no 30 arcana isn’t required for all ele’s.
Not everyone plays d/d sometimes the forums act like that is all everyone plays. I use to be guilty of it but our s/d friends don’t get frustrated with the same exact fights as d/d. If you haven’t given fresh air s/d honest try everyone should the fight dynamics are very different than d/d. Range pressure really changes things.
Anyway it isn’t that bad my friends we will be fine
Let’s be realistic here for a second most of us all recognize each other’s name on this sub forum.
If you take the regular posters here you might have maybe 15 people? There are way more people that play ele that don’t post on the forums.
This is a silly suggestion my friend. You can always chime in with the I rolled x or post a video of you deleting your ele. Can become extremely bitter and bring RTL revert into every ele discussion.
The ready up PvP stream is every 2 weeks so I think the best thing to do of you want changes is bring things up there.
I won’t stop playing my ele for anyone here I don’t know any of you irl and I paid my own money for GW2. I am friends in game with people that post here including mbelch but it isn’t that serious.
You do well on your Mesmer because Mesmer play is passive extremely passive especially prismatic builds. Nobody runs shatter much and everyone rolls dueling builds stealthing to make phantasm and clones.
The important thing to remember is that in WvW just about every class can ignore every Mesmer build.
If you like dueling then since launch Mesmer has been king. When out roaming around you need ego driven people to actually stay around not ignore you, and stay around and blow up your clones. It’s boring but people think p/u is skillful but it’s not tbh. Of course you work harder on ele cause you have more skills to cycle if you gave guardian more skills to cycle he will inherently have to work harder.
I get what your saying but the work harder angle was your choice. I know you didn’t expect to kill everyone cycling through just airs and fire one time?
(edited by oZii.2864)
@nicknamenick the problem I see with you analysis is that it seems to assume your fighting a necro or condi warrior I don’t know many classes with bleeds that long especially the base of 10 sec.
If the base duration is already long before +duration then of course the melandru setup isn’t as effective as it is against lesser base durations.
I have a warrior and necro and I can permachill a warrior no matter his setup.
Condi builds will apply as much as possible as fast as possible. After you wipe with lyssa you will probably get condi spiked before it is up again.
(edited by oZii.2864)
This game is so incredibly dumbed down that playing anything other than the ele for an extended amount of time makes me want to smash my head into my desk.
This sums up my feeling also
If this was designed to counter condi builds, fine, but what about power/tanky necros who rely on (non-damaging) conditions such as Chill or Immobilize to even get close to a ranged Ele? Its not like we’re anywhere in the neighborhood of needing nerfs (quite the opposite in certain areas)… it would be one thing if Diamond skin read “you are immune to condition damage when over 90% health” but this is far too much for such a low mobility class running melee to not be able to use these tools to slow our enemies. That’s all we have aside from the easily dodge-able Dark Path.
It’s the same thing as DS power builds. You run tanky da power builds so you essentially soak up all types of damage. The thing is if your running power build why don’t you life blast? Spinal shivers to remove crucial boons? Life transfer? Axe auto? Use damage attacks snare after you reduce their health.
Why else do you pick a class and invest time and in it? Cause you enjoy punishing yourself? No you pick it cause you like it. If you don’t expect highs and lows on balance then your new to mmo’s. All 5 of my professions have received buffs and nerfs since gw2 came out but the buff and nerf train isn’t why I play a class I play it cause it’s interesting to me. Instead of I think it’s op I should roll one.
People that jump to the current strongest class make threads like this. Ele is my fav class and mine was my 4th 80 but my first character.
My warrior is my second favorite class and I played it when it was f-tier pre healing signet buff pre cleansing ire. My first 80 was Mesmer but it’s boring because the play is passive unless you go shatter and I been there done that.
I’m ranting but these threads pop up every time after a balance patch and the people that make them aren’t happy. People that are satisfied with their play or builds don’t make kitten threads like this. See state of elementalist thread also on first page which is a kitten thread.
Wave with range takes predictability from its use. You can open with wave all on its own heck you can put someone down close to 5k health with d/d as long as your in 900 range with out pressing a weapon skill.
There was not much thought to using wave or blast with d/d
Before you just used it within your rotation just a extra button press.
(edited by oZii.2864)
I thought it was that AND it didn’t fit
Ele scepter 2 and electric discharge trait don’t do a lot of damage. They are definitely not high impact skills. It is scepter 2 electric discharge, double arcane. So 4 skills doing the main damage on their own none of them are super strong. So the question is the investment to instagib balanced? You do take 2 precious utitilty slots so you can attempt instagib.
This like people saying move the ground target to brilliance so they have the arcane wave from before. Moving the ground target to brilliance doesn’t do anything but make it worse. Who wants to ground target a heal? Or even have a heal that requires a target to do anything?
Not sure what people expect here. There are many traits that don’t impact every fight.
Anyone with 30 water has a wasted trait when they aren’t fighting condi. Cleansing water is garbage folks. 15 air is garbage unless you have fresh air.
The most popular traits among all classes are the ones that are the most effective in all situations. Then the niche traits shape your build. It’s like saying fresh air is garbage when your in air. When we know that’s not the case.
Effective general use traits are powerful and always taken. Diamond skin is not a general use trait but neither is many of the gm traits. The only strong general use GM trait is evasive arcana and when I switch to s/d I will still take fresh air over evasive.

I also want to add that I don’t think cavalier armor is very good at all. Since it is on the tp now and you can get it ascended.
Heya. Our builds are really similar indeed; nice job with all the minmaxing. I don’t actually run this build, and I minmax’d it in about 20 minutes. I chose celestial where I chose it because the stats I get from those celestial pieces are much larger than what I would receive by using any non-celestial piece. The weapons especially give you a massive amount of stats. It’s quite crazy. I don’t sacrifice much stats on the celestial armor pieces I chose, and gain a lot more. Yes, crit damage was also a thought. If I were to personally consider using this, I would likely spend a bit more time in the build calc, minmaxing the stats as I see fit.
The toughness infusions were effectively an afterthought – I personally prefer to have as close to 2.6k armor as possible when running DD ele. The build I linked will, with fury and without might or bloodlust, do, on average, 1.6% more damage than the one you linked. Yours has ever slightly higher toughness, healing power, and condition damage, though.
Happy minmaxing hehe.
Heya TB <3 yea I prefer about 2.6 myself. I remember when I was fascinated with 2.7k armor glad I am out of that phase rofl like no deeps at all. I think I will replace just 1 celestial accessory for either a zerk/valk or cav one not sure yet.
I will wait on going ascended armor I think the defense rating is higher by about 5% I believe but I was a late adopter on my last ascended dagger.
Ascended armor will be nice; I’m hoping it’ll be easier to get from WvW soon. Right now, it’s harder to minmax for vit moreso than toughness from my experiences, so the extra armor will be nice, but extra vit would be even nicer.
I was looking at cavalier armor but I don’t think it is good on armor at all. Maybe all zerk/valk trinkets cav on shoulders, gloves, boots. knights on the rest? Haven’t really tried to min max anything with cav armor though.

In a 1v1 it is powerful against necros but like mid way in the video some random thief hits the ele and the necro finishes the ele pretty easily.
Full celestial lacks too much power. I recently minmax’d the average 10 30 30 DD build as such http://intothemists.com/calc/?build=-k;4BJ-V0y47NkY0;9;59-TT;10;349A54AUN;4V19cV19cm-kaed;4V0-u5A1v5K3w537WLN1i;5cYDucYDu;9;9;9;9;85-6Y
I have similar set up to this now that I am back to all divinity runes. My question is why celestial on the pieces you have it on? The gain or loss is least there in the pieces you picked so wouldn’t it be better to put the pieces helm, chest, legs for celestial? Its like picking a armor slot that gives you critical damage.
You grabbed celestial my guess because you wanted the critical damage but you would get better damage if you just changed those pieces to zerker. The infusions are toughness but 1 knights minor armor piece would have given you the same amount as all those infusions. I am personally a fan of Vitality infusions on the defensive side because you get more out of it than you would 5 toughness the damage reduction is so small for 30 toughness that I think vitality is a better return.
Our builds are really similar if you put them both in build craft and compare the effective power. This is with celestial accessories still mucking up my dps till I replace them. Your build pulls ahead slightly when you add 10 stacks of might and consider 100% fury up time.
Unless I did something wrong though your build actually has 82 critical damage in buildcraft. On into the mists it says 74.

Took me a while to realize you were talking about wvw dueling. If you however WERE talking about PvP dueling, you must be from another planet than me, since I see almost no other class in PvP duel rooms than dps Guards and thieves.
Also, no matter the game mode, PU condi mesmers (along with all other condi classes) autofail against eles starting this patch. Phantasm builds can still give you a headache but having heavy AoE options on all weapons makes eles one of the best counterclasses to phantasm mesmers. And remember, no phantasms, no damage AND no healing with the new healing skill.
Stop complaining, start playing
Well I play both classes in question here and Diamond Skin is a joke. I can take it down in less than a second and then stack conditions at will making the point investment worthless. iZerker, Mirror Blade, or iDuelist take well more than 90% as soon as they are summoned.
From talking to my guildie he says that if it is full condi builds he can roll their faces with diamond skin its not even close. If your power based mesmer then yea getting the ele down below 90% is easy but it is designed to battle conditions.
Most mesmers are either or though. I haven’t played my mesmer in a while though just got bored with it. A full condi mesmer though gets rolled by diamond skin ele it’s kind of funny seeing the mes pop all the phantasm goodies torch and everything and ele just is running around a full hp almost the whole fight.
I play D/D to not use any ground targeting, however with scepter it makes more sense. ANet, Is it possible to change targeting so it depends on main hand weapon?
Use fast cast if it’s taking too long to arcane wave
Good luck aiming for Burning Speed combo field.
You just have to hit the field with wave and it should give you the might. I just messed around with it quickly and no fast cast was able to give myself the might mid burning. You do have to am it a little behind you though.
Planting your face on the keyboard to win won’t be as viable anymore. Conditions will now require timing to cast, just like physical damage.
I’m getting some vids of his duels I’ll try to upload this evening
So I watched a guildie in duels running 0/0/30/10/30 run through a p/d thief who is pretty good, and a prismatic understanding mesmer hybrid both pretty easily. The mesmer is more direct damage than condi but uses the condi to supplement kind of like we do with fire etc.
The annoying cripple on clone death traits aren’t even affecting him. Diamond skin so far doesn’t seem that bad at all.
