Obal sounds like good guy greg and Wethospu is more like scumbag steve
He appears to be a good player both skill and attitude wise to me from his posts and the one time I talked to him in game. This game could use more people like him in the community.
Congrats. I guess you gave up on the whirlwind approach to the bubbles. I finally got around to soloing him with my guardian. You only beat me by about 30min.
My guild and I are kinda trying to learn it. We have path 3 down no problem except for Lupi. For some reason he seems to reset on us in phase 2 a little too easily. [Like someone would die and we would have been spread out around the room to dodge his aoe, then he’d walk back to the starting position and immediately start phase 1 again] Any tips on that?
I can run it with your guild sometime outside of my normal times if you want. I’ve done that a few times and it’s seemed to help other guilds out a bit. I’ll pm in game about it if I see you on.
I did two runs so far with 2-4 people in the group with little or no experience and we got through it just fine. I welcome the challenge. I bet this update will make Wethospu happy since he probably won’t have to run after lupi quite as much.
to be honest i kick people at lupi all the time, usually happens when we post “LFM Must be experienced” then we get there and notice someone obviously isn’t experienced. Maybe join some groups that say its their first time, i see them all the time on gw2lfg, get exp in those then join the big boys
This is pretty much my inspiration for my thread. I don’t really understand exp only groups. If they are so experienced than why are they not good enough themselves to take new players? Every time I joined an exp only group half the time half the team needs to zerg back to lupi and the other half I’m the only one left in there. I take 1-4 people with little or no experience and I’ve wiped once at lupi since I’ve made the thread. I get a better player base from doing that and the time I spent before posting for Arah noobs only on gw2lfg.com than I ever did joining random groups. People really need to start stepping up their game and learning some manners.
If you are on a NA server than here is a post for you.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Arah-Vet-here-to-help-you-with-Arah-runs/first
I’ve toyed to play Arah, but every time I come to lupicus, my team gets wiped, and decides to leave. The simple way to fix this, is fixing the aoe attack, that’s does in phase 2. The aoe does simple not hit where the red circles show. It’s so frustrating, when you really want Arah gear.
Please make the developers see this.
If you want to see how easy arah can be then leave a post here for an easy 60 tokens.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Arah-Vet-here-to-help-you-with-Arah-runs/first
The aoe isn’t bad. You can dodge outside of the circles or use invulnerable or blocking skills. I play guardian and alternate focus 5 and shield 5 after dodging once out of the red circles and rarely get hit. Bring some defensive skills and gear and stick to doing that and you shouldn’t have a problem.
Are you still offering this? I would love the opportunity if so. Adding you in game, I’m free for either run. 80 Full Exotic Guardian.
I’m still going regularly. I’m plan on taking a break after hitting my 10k tokens mark which will probably be in about 2 weeks from now.
Don’t worry, these “experienced” people usually suck.
This pretty much sums it up. I’ve only ever joined a group that says experienced only if I’m cramped for time and that’s all that is up but will never do so again. If you think AC is bad just filter on Arah. I even join Arah groups that don’t post experienced only and am asked if I ever have done it quite a bit. I reply no and am kicked most of the time and am glad to not have my time wasted on a group like that even though I have done the dungeon over 100 times and have a full set on.
In short, make your own group and stay away from experienced only or speed run groups. All i do anymore is LFM and don’t plan on going back to LFG anytime soon. I’ve had a much more pleasant time that way.
I made a post exactly for this.
If you arn’t confident enough watch 1 or 2 videos on youtube.
This right here it is sound advice. I’d never been in Arah, watched a couple different Lupi fights on YouTube, and had no problems whatsoever with my first battle. In fact, every group I’ve been in has done better with the fight than the groups I watched
Back on topic, I just finished a run with the OP this evening. Great run and everything went flawless. Now I can join the ranks of “experienced” path 3 runners :P
That is pretty much the best thing you can do. I made another one yesterday of one of my regulars and I doing a 2 man run since there wasn’t anyone on/available yesterday and felt like having some fun trying to attempt it. It ended up making a pretty good video of what to expect and how to deal with his attacks, especially for a guardian, since I had pretty much full aggro.

I’ve gotten to just about everyone so far and still doing this at both times everyday. If anyone else still wants to go feel free to leave a post here for an easy and pleasant run. I start making a group at exactly the times I posted so be on and available and you will probably be taken if I haven’t gotten to you yet.

The amount of grind to get the gold or fractals to make the back was too high as is. Adding 250e on top of that is overkill for 1 piece of equipment with the lowest stats. All it does is gate players from proceeding which is not what was intended based off of previous statements made about your game and it’s intended design. The recipe to infuse the rings is fair and should be the same as the back. The second 250e upgrade for the awesome skin enhancement is more than fair though.
I’ve just spend 8 hours with guildies in the dungeon, 4 straight trying to defeat Simin. Maybe we didn’t have enough DPS, but the worst part was to deal with the Spark’s AI and random targeting. If you’re willing to help, we would be glad. It’s the very last path I need for the Dungeon Master achievement.
I don’t think I can stomach a full path 4 run anytime soon but I can sub in for someone for the dwayna fight and sub back out so your team member can finish the run. I did this for a group of my guildies since one of them lacked a dps set up character so they couldn’t kill her. I have a warrior and a mesmer.
Someone just posted a guide which is exactly what we did and it was pretty quick and easy here https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Simin-Arah-Path-4-Easy-guide . It is just a matter of having high burst dps so have a glass cannon set up to start the dungeon instance and so the other 4 can go back to LA and retrait to full dps trait lines or bring a better dps character they have right before the dwayna fight.
It did take me 8 hours the first time. We lacked the dps as you did and the sparks were extremely bugged for us. I did the same steps as that guide the second time and had no problems.
how you kill the last boss of p4? She stealth then heals, and even if you had placed the sparks flawlessly (say under 10 sec) she will heal up to 75%, and will go stealth again at 45%. it’s like a endless cycle, I don’t get how you could bring her below 45%…
I did it the bs way the first time where you dps her while she is invisible. I did it again after that update with 5 glass cannons + 4-1 spark trick.
Look up the 4-1 spark trick. Have a glass cannon make the instance. Have the other 4 retrait to glass cannon with as much berserker gear as they have. I would have a party of at least one warrior for fgj/banner of disciple and one mesmer for time warp. Aside from that theifs/warriors/eles to fill out the group. Full burst damage with 5 glass cannons and 4-1 spark trick took her down the second try for us. We had 2 war, 1 theif, 1 mesmer, 1 ele. I don’t think the other professions would be as good and conditions are bad for this boss you just want full burst damage.
I am interested in this. Do you need the exotic gear to be beserker’s? Also, are there any class requirements?
Class make no difference to me. Defensive gear is best for the midboss (lupi) that stomps pugs. I run a mix of knight and berserker and then swap to soldier and knight for the lupi.
I’ve noticed from forum posts and my own experience how hard it is to get into Arah. If you are new to Arah, a guild that wants to get into running Arah, or just not had much luck with Arah and feel pretty defeated I will take you for a nice easy and pleasent run. I run path 3 only since its the most farmable and will teach you the run. I’m not willing to do path 1 or 4. I’m also not looking for more regulars at this time.
My backround:
I’ve earned dungeon master and earned over 10k Arah tokens so I know Arah pretty well. I run a guardian so I can handle lupi pretty well. I’m not a fan of the player base that does Arah (just look at the posts for Arah on gw2lfg.com alone). Given that, I’ve posted for Arah noobs only for awhile now and and have always finished the run and we rarely wipe at Lupi. Some of my best runs have been with first timers. I usually have 1 or 2 regulars with me and we have done path 3 runs with just the 2-3 of us so that makes the run easier. I have soloed lupi so that makes the run even easier.
Times I run Arah:
7 pm est (daily reset time) and 12 am est (daily reset time + 5 hours)
I run it twice most days
I will make an exception if you have a full guild team but most likely will have to be an hour after my normal runs or on a weekend.
Requirements for joining my group:
On a NA server
Have full exotic gear (will get slaughtered if not)
Have a ranged weapon on you (warrior- rifle, guardian – scepter + focus or sheild, theif – bow)
Have some dungeon experience
Will listen and follow directions
Won’t act pushy/elitist
Be on when I go or set a time that would work with me
Make a post here. I’m no longer responding to requests via in game pm/mail (can’t keep track anymore this post helps me do so). I will pm you in game when I go if I have room and will stop asking if you don’t respond after 3 different times.
Here are my solo runs if you want to see the fun that awaits you and how to deal with Lupi which also has a link to my Guardian guide (shameless self promotion ).

Bring a guardian to the fight.
http://www.guildwars2guru.com/topic/78673-a-guardians-guide-to-giganticus-lupicus/
Arah is my favorite. I have earned over 4k tokens and still run it for fun. Needless to say I am very tired of elitists since there are plenty in Arah.
I often post for arah noobs only on gw2lfg.com. I’d be more than happy to run it with whoever if they are serious about doing it, have full exotic set + a ranged weapon, have some dungeon experience, and will follow directions. I run this 1-2 times a day at around 7pm or 12am est. If you are on a NA server pm in game and I’ll take you if I do a run and need people. I will only do path 3. Please don’t even ask me to do 4 again…..

I’d be willing to join you or take you in one of my groups if you want to complete a run if you on NA server you pm in game. Having a good guardian in the group really makes a difference. That is what I play and I only ever die from reviving people. A guardian with scepter/focus + scepter/shield, heal sig, stand your ground, save yourself, retreat, renewed focus can last a long time. As a warrior I run the heal based on adren, balance stance, that sig that increases endurance, endure pain, and warbanner. If I’m in a bad pug I’m usually the last alive with that set up but guardian is a lot easier.
Having revive skills like warbanner, endurance skills like the warrior sig that regens endurance or something that grants vigor, something that gives stability or teleports for phase 3 bubble, and something that makes you invulnerable for reviving, bubble, or general o noes moments are what you want on your bar. I use the 9% attack/defense vs undead potion and the 20% faster regen food (Bowl of Spiced Meat and Cabbage Stew) which are not the best but pretty cheap. The problem with phase 2 is that lupi follows the squishiest person with the shadow step attack. It is difficult to res them unless you have a warbanner or something like that. Phase 3 is a joke since he goes after the toughest person. If you have a good guardian or warrior with the set up like i said above they shouldn’t have much of a problem if lupi follows them around for most of the phase.
Phase 2
- He follows the squishiest player. Have some people with instant revive on down skills and ping them when using.
- Start out spread and stay spread the whole fight. Clumping together is awful since the single spark or shadow step will waste dodges or hit multiple people
- Start out will have someone kd and spawn 1-2 grubs. Have most of the group focus on killing these first as well as any locust that are left. Have at least 1 attack lupi so he doesn’t reset though.
- When he shadow steps and the shadow is almost right where you are standing dodge. If he knocks you down use your stability skill and get away fast. He may swipe ate you which is pretty much instant death
- Dodge the single spark he throws. This does a lot of damage and is easily dodged. Again, stay spread so you can tell who is the target.
- Red circle AOE. Dodge out of the circles and get as far away as possible from them. There are stray sparks that go outside of the circles that can hit you so watch out for them or use a skill to block like guardian focus/shield 5 or ele earth staff 3 etc to be safe.
Phase 3
- He follows toughest player. If you are a warrior/guardian it is good to have 2+ things to get you out of the bubble or block while in it like the guardian focus 5. Everyone should have something to get out of the bubble since he wanders some times to others
- If someone is dead and it is close to phase 3 its not worth running back if you have a good guardian/warrior to lead him away and keep him occupied. It is easy to revive the person in that case
- HP vacuum attack has a huge vacuum sucking animation and you will see rapid hp degen. Dodge twice and you won’t lose much hp
- Dodge the single spark he throws. This does a lot of damage and is easily dodged. Again, stay spread so you can tell who is the target.
- He makes a big red circle and does a flurry of sparks. You can use one dodge when you see the circle though you may get hit for a little damage if you are still close to the circle after the dodge
- He makes an animation and starts to float. Dodge far away from where he is and out of the huge red circle that appears.
You can take me along for a path 3 run. I’ve gotten over 2k tokens so I can show you what to do if you want.
For the path 1 end boss you figure out who the npc is following and have that person stay outside with it and the rest go in and kill the Jotun.
My group spent over 2 hours on the path 4 Simin fight because of the sparks.
- The circles aren’t lighting properly after pulling the sparks to them. We had instances where a circle appeared unused but the spark would not go on so we dragged them to circles that appeared used and they triggered them instead so I guess they are lighting properly
- Some sparks stacked on the same circle after triggering different circles which made it difficult to tell which is still needed for remaining sparks
- Some sparks weren’t even near the shrine but it triggered the shrine for us 2 times. I’m not really sure what happened but the one time it looked like we lost aggro on the front one that is alone along the rocky divider and it floated back and triggered the shrine. We liked this bug.
- After about 2 hours the circles were all bugged out. Only 1 random circle was there when the sparks spawned and the other 4 were completely invisible so it made it difficult to tell where to put them but the circles appeared after we put a spark in that area. When the sparks spawned this same cycle repeated itself.
I guess all you have to do is play this and fail at it for awhile to see those things. It took us about 8 hours to finish this path and this added a lot of time and frustration.
path 1
- if your skill bar gets locked by the tar boss it stays that way until you log out and back in and then you have to run a mile back to it
- wtb a waypoint at tar boss at the very least
Also, I have one suggestion. Lupicus is an epic boss which deserves some decent loot. I managed to get a white leggings drop from him yesterday.

What I’m looking for
- Dungeon focused guild (can have other focuses but this needs to be a big one)
- Does Arah
- Does harder dungeons and paths (would like to get dungeon master)
- Not casual
- Yak’s server or doesn’t care if I don’t transfer since I have friends on mine
- Small active guild looking to stay small and familiar with each other would be preferred but a bigger well organized guild that does a lot of dungeon runs and not mostly fractals/cof/ac would also be fine
- NA server
What I would bring
- Guardian fully geared up
- Done all dungeons many times except for TA/CM which I’ve only done once each
- Would be willing to help out leading runs
I’ll do it if you or someone knows the run.
I’m looking for a NA guild that does mostly dungeons and does harder ones more often than easily puggable ones. I’m looking for a smaller more experienced guild rather than a 100+ casual guild that runs only AC/CoF. I’m mostly interested in doing Arah (have finished it a few times) as well as CoE, fractals, and others. My main is a guardian and I’ve done most dungeons/paths.
I’d like an invite. I’ve done most other dungeons but have been wanting to do this for a long time.
