Since infractions seem as if they are thrown around willy-nilly, it would be useful if under “My Account” I can find how many infractions I currently have, how many have expired (do they ever expire? Or is the inevitable end result that we get banned eventually?), etc.
This thread is irrelevant. There is a sticky on this topic.
English is not my first language. Is “gears” (meaning multiple pieces of equipment) a real word? Or is it just some people trying to be cute?
I think that is an excellent idea and a great opportunity for some fun.
WvW, sPvP, alts, working on your legendary, playing the Trading Post, farming, dungeons, exploring further (even at 100% there is still a lot to find in the world, as I was surprised to find out).
The fantastic thing about GW2 is you have so many things you can do every time you log in. The only thing this game is missing would be the gear treadmill, which to many people is a great thing.
They already know that. They want to complain about there not being a never ending gear grind. That endgame.
Not sure how to respond here, endgame as a concept has been warped too far to make any sense anymore.
“Endgame” is that ill defined term used by naysayers, and anyone else with a negative agenda towards a game, to complain. It is an endlessly fertile and slippery word.

I learned a new word today: “ninnyhammer”.
It would be so awesome if there was a hammer by that name.

“While i understand that there are people who want to improve the game, there is a certain manner that you have to present yourself to do that. Not only were some of his points against anet removed, but also some of his points against players too.”
Yes, ANet seems to be enforcing a certain level of maturity. And thank goodness for that!
It’s funny how insecure these little game dictators feel in a free environment, where players can actually do what they want.
That unhelpful statement says more about you than it does about the problem at hand.
Yeah, I hate the whole representing/not representing, belong to multiple guilds thing too. My daughter and I finally shut down our guild because it was a major pain in the kitten’s rear end for all the reasons in the OP. We wanted a core group of people to party with and what we got was an amorphous, constantly changing pool of people who we never felt we knew. So we said “Screw it!” and closed the guild. I’ve only just joined a new guild and now I feel the problem from the reverse direction.
As far as I can tell the Google Authenticator vis GW2 is working in exactly the same way the Blizzard authenticator worked. The only difference I have noticed is that the Google Authenticator codes are shorter than the Blizzard authenticator codes.
I’d like to see a collectibles area for event items. I have already purchased four more bank slots since I started the game at pre-release and now my entire bank is full. A very large amount is all the Halloween stuff I got. I don’t know how I am going to handle all the stuff I’ll get from the next event.
ANet, I’ve now spent $100 on your game with the entire $40 extra to buy bank slots. Don’t you think that is enough to have sufficient bank space?
My war is level 69 and I took it to Queensdale. She was one shotting things quite often. That is just not right. Our gear should be downleveled too.

I like how on that page about GW2’s bot problem there is an ad for a gold seller:
Rift does this also and it was quite popular. I think it is a fantastic idea.
Since I already previously proposed that idea, I’m “thumbs up” for it.
Well the back door inspect can be avoided by making them all private by default and optionally public (to various levels of trust: friends, guild, everyone).
I have the feeling that it is not the way you suggest OP because ANet wants to encourage people to buy dye packs from the TP and to encourage a healthy dye economy. Having said that though, I would love it if dyes were account bound as I don’t buy dyes and rely on what drops as loot.
This topic has come up over and over and the answer is generally the same: it’s not ANet’s responsibility to alleviate your boredom because they made the game they said they wanted to make. If you don’t like it, find one you do like.
There are more than enough people who do like GW2 as it is designed and if folks like yourself leave it doesn’t matter.
When I get tired of the same five skills, I just swap weapons or equip a shield and then lo and behold! New skills.
Maybe we can get a “LFG” chat channel.
Several times in LA map chat I’ve seen someone pull this card, and when they get utterly demolished by the actual friendly players they say “Oh I was just trolling.” No, you weren’t, you were being an entitled buttcrack. There is no such thing as trolling anymore. Trolling is just a lazy internet word for being a dick.
Ok, that is just spot-on. There is no such thing as trolling anymore.
Bravo OP! Bravo! +1
In my opinion, the OP’s point is a complete non-issue (no disrespect intended). Getting adequate gear is stupidly simple. You absolutely do not need maxed gear to do anything well in this game. Frankly, the only reason you need max gear is to satisfy the elitists who won’t let anyone in their dungeon group who does not have max gear. But for the other 99% of people, it’s all good.
So while doing the Mad King Clocktower jump puzzle for the N^15th time our group was standing in the staging area waiting for the puzzle to reset and someone said “ kitten the norns I can’t see anything but the norn when jumping”. Part of me just smiled at that.
Let me just note that I got the “Master Carver” title last night for carving 150 pumpkins. It was not difficult to get and I got it without trying to get it. If ANet’s philosophy, as implied from some other posters’ comments, is to make getting a title difficult and something worth being proud of, “Master Carver” seems to be antithetical to that philosophy.
Warrior all the way! Second is elementalist. I look forward to my asuran thief.
I have a female norn warrior. I had a sylvari elementalist but I deleted her and made a female norn ele. I guess that makes me an addict. The only thing I find a bit disturbing is that both of my norn females have exactly the same voice. So after 63 levels of hearing my warrior’s speech I now associate that voice to a tough warrior. So it seems quite odd coming from an elementalist.
Yeah, it is pretty awesome. It’s been hard for me to participate much as I work all day but from what I have been able to do it’s been quite impressive. I hope it keeps going past Halloween so I can do more but if not, it was a fun ride.
I didn’t claim anyone didn’t like it. I was questioning its state as a bug by virtue of the fact that it is appearing on the bugs subform. For me I can zoom out like that at will now using the mouse wheel. In some situations the camera automatically pulls all the way out like it has always done, but now it is further. Hence, as far as I know it’s not a bug; it’s a new feature requested ad nauseum by the user base on these very forums.
I thought everyone was whining about not being able to zoom the camera out enough. Now you got what you wanted and it’s a “bug”?
2. Don’t repair your armor until it’s broken (red). Damaged armor still gives you full effects, and there’s apparently a cap on repair costs (per GW2W).
Oooh. That’s good to know. Trying to make money by not using the TP is ridiculously hard with repair costs and waypoint fees.
I agree. Nerf the gear when downscaling. Not doing so defeats the purpose of downscaling.
Logging out does not reset it. Neither does shutting down the game completely. At least, it didn’t for me. You are basically screwed. I get the sense that it is like 20-30 minutes. If you don’t say a single thing during that time then you can make a few chats. If you try to say anything during that time, the suppression timer resets. At least, that is how it seems to me.
Totally ridiculous.
Makes me think ANet is an “agile” shop and they don’t do much testing. Just push iterative changes on to their consumer base and let the consumer test their code for them.
I get the feeling that it resets the timer each time you try to say anything. So you can easily be screwed for hours trying to figure out what the threshold is. For me I am guessing it is around 20-30 minutes of pure silence then you can say something. Talk about being treated like children!
So I have my status set to “lfg” but it never accomplishes the goal: getting in a group. Not kidding. Not once. Besides, I cannot say what I am looking for so it is not terribly useful even if it was remotely effective.
It turns out I am looking for the Mad King dungeon from LA. Everyone, and I mean everyone, yells “LFG MK”. So I do too. I do it three times within a two minute period and now my messaging is suppressed? Seems like I have to wait quite a long time before suppression turns off. What the hell ANet?!?
I mean, if we had a real LFG tool then I could understand. But as we do not have such a tool the only effective way to join a group is to yell out you want to join a group to do X.
About half of the time when my team wins this Halloween PvP fight we do not get any reward. Is this by design or a bug? If a bug, do we get compensated for it or shall we just avoid it altogether? Thanks.
“If you don’t like PVP, this isn’t the game for you.”
Why do people always say that here? I detest PvP and have not done it in this game and yet I am having lots of fun with the game.
I tried to whisper to a player with that Æ in his name, but it didn’t let me do that for some reason. I am using a US keyboard so I can’t type these letters manually
You can use this site to know the keyboard shortcuts:
http://www.nouilles.info/keyboard_shortcuts.html
For example, Æ is alt-0198 (hold down the alt key while typing 0198; when you release the alt key the character will appear).
I know for a fact that you can use ‘Æ’ and ‘ä’ as my warrior has them in her name; I wanted an authentic viking name for my Norn and needed those letters.
I agree OP. I stopped using teleports altogether and ran everywhere. It has gotten to the point where I have reversed my opinion about mounts. Now I want mounts because the teleport costs are absurd.
I’m totally with you OP. I will not buy anything that uses the RNG. I will only buy what I know I will receive and only if I think it is a fair price.
One of my gripes about this game is how hard it is to make money. To make money you really have to use the trading post which I don’t want to do in part because the markets are distorted by bots and gold sellers.
There are probably a lot of people who don’t know buying gold from third parties is wrong. As far as I can tell the only way for someone to know it is wrong is by reading the ToS and who does that? Not too many I imagine.
So, assuming ANet is actually closing\banning accounts of people who are selling gold, I suggest that ANet make the consequences of buying gold from third parties more “in your face”. I suggest making some messaging changes such that it would be nearly impossible to not know buying gold from third parties is wrong and will get your account permanently banned.
If fewer and fewer people buy gold from third parties, the gold buying market will become less and less profitable and, hopefully, bots and gold sellers will all but disappear. This assumes that ANet is vigilant at banning the accounts of gold sellers as this can only work if the $60 cost of a new install significantly cuts into their expected profit margin.
So I suggest adding a message to the login screen that says something like:
Buying gold from third parties is an account bannable offense.
Number of accounts banned for buying gold this week: X
Number of accounts banned for buying gold last month: Y
etc…
Don’t buy gold from third parties.
Yes, please. Make waypoint travel free. Or eliminate waypoints and give us mounts (that we can ride for free).
“They are like paranormal shaman viking peoples who are also druids.”
Lol. Wow. That’s a great way to put it.
I will do almost anything to get rid of my norn’s dance. She needs new moves!
“Wide Charr”
Love that name. So geeky.
I was going to report this post, seeing as it’s not a suggestion. You’re unnecessarily angry, and this makes your post come across like you’re a petulant child.
However, maybe you’d like to reconsider the title (I believe you meant to use “vulnerable”) and offer up a real suggestion to the proposed problem? In that case, we’ll see if anyone else has held off reporting.
Well, in Rift, if your character is standing on something above the target monster, the monster can easily climb up to you. So there is no advantage gained from being on something high and no need to make the monster invulnerable.
