Light’s Judgement vs Well of Suffering

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Im seeing a trend of godly overpowered skills on the new specs so far. But im willing to bet necro doesnt get anything anywhere near that amazing.

well does more dps per tick, (according to the database which may be wrong)
does 2 stacks which lasts 5 times as long
shorter cool down,
has a field
casts 4 times faster,
and has no activation time

honestly doesnt look that crazy.

Why bother with coding teleportation. Just fill in a randomly designated skill challenge after accomplishing X objectives in WvW/Killing Y number of players/Completing X world events/Completing a reward track/beating Z number of Dungeons/Fractals.

because teleportation items already exist. interacting with them will hit all the right already existing triggers. Basically this involves taking the already existing code for an item, and altering the coordinate values (just change some numbers, and some names)

randomly designated skill challenges may not be tracked, or stored or changed in an easy way. (requires programing new functionality, testing interactions, new UI)

also, keep in mind skill challenges are exploration. it doesnt fit thematically to give people exploration credit without having ever been to any of these places, or having ever done them.
It would be like getting credit for killing 1000 players by using the mystic forge.

I don't really understand specialization

i see… it so unds like elite specialization will almost always be taken just because of the overwhelming number of changes that it brings. no trait line is strong enough to overshadow the elite specialization + the heaps of buffs it brings, it seems

they are still balancing them, but if you arent into traps, and dont like the bow, you probably have more reason to spec into another line.

classes with weak lines will need to be cleaned up though, and they have to make sure there is some strong synergies between other lines.

right now they seem pretty powerful, but we have yet to play them. Its pretty possible they will be nerfed a bit.

…there’s about 0% chance traps of any class will require a trait to use cursor-ground placement. Seems like they’ve boiled all of those traits out of the game with the general re-vamp.

which annoys me, i personally like the option to make is spawn at my feet faster.

I don’t disagree, but I like to save my energy for battles I give slightly more of a skrit’s rump about .

(truth is they are greatly reducing the amount of nuance in the game. Mostly I’m just figuring out how to have fun with the new game I’m about to get when HoT hits, because the old one is largely gone from my perspective…)

from the vid, doesnt look like they are ground targeted, looks like only rng will throw traps.

Untill ANet tell us just how it will work, rather than just vague ideas of how it will work. I have to admit, I don’t really understand what’s going on with it all.

My hope is that utilities will be available as they have normally. Currently, skill challenges and utilities open up at 13. It’s.. kind of late, to be honest, especially when you get all three of them by level 19.

I shudder to think that they’d delay opening hero challenges at 20, when the whole trait/skill system opens.

traits is 20, skills will likely be from start, hopefully they remove the skill challenge level lock completely

New Charachter animations, probable?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Adding animations is totally doable, the only question is, will they?

Historically, it’s been very rare for MMORPG companies to bother with it.

WoW, for example, added a few genuinely new animations with Cataclysm, but has barely added any since (though they did re-work more or less all animations with the character re-vamp last year).

Still, if they are added, it will likely be with an expansion. It’s not something that’s technically hard to do or ridiculously resource-consuming, but new enemies etc. take up the same time from the same people, and they usually get strongly prioritized (mistakenly imo).

Perversely, GW2 seems to have removed far more in the way of animations and speech than they’ve added, which I think is bananas, but that’s how they want to do it (good example is “Hold the Line!” – every race except Sylvari has it recorded correctly – Sylvari say “Hold this Line!”, so Anet just stopped EVERYONE from saying it!).

if it is as easy as it seems, why dont more companies cash in, i think its has high value as an item of interest. (similar vein of new armors, weapons, minis or other cosmetics).
whether sold, or part of new weapons/skills/ content rewards its something that gives players a lot of value.

are animators just too expensive? or adding possible animations to the code?

There are few things more exciting than seeing your charachters moving in new ways, its one of the joys of playing the first time, and unlocking skills, and seeing them do new things.

Now, i have noticed it is extremely rare that we see this happen.
most new skills use old charachter animations new effects, we have seen some animations get altered or replaced here an there.

So mostly to the devs, or people used to working in this type of format.

how probable is it, to get new charachter movements in the game.
different running animations for certain skills, new weapons with new charachter movements, new emotes/taunts, new spell castings etc.

basically is this something that can happen?
is it likely to happen?
If it did happen how often could one expect it?

What kind of specialization do YOU want?

Paragon.

Spear-using ranged sustained DPS and support, using burning attacks and chants (shouts that pulse) and refrains (effects that trigger when a boon ends/is removed) to help the party from back/middle line.

wtf? spear is only for underwater combat, you want them to make a whole new weapon along with a specialization? that’s stupid, think of an actual non watertype weapon

I realize it takes a genius like myself to realize something like this, but you could have a Spear work on land with a different set of skills than the water ones on the same class.

i have realized, they really dont want to create new charachter animations for some reason.

I absolutely hate this idea, the name, and even the weapon choice.

Played my guardian from day 1 of release because it was a front line fighter with supportive buffs to allies – kind of like a templar or paladin. Now they turn it into a fairy ranger. Really upset with this choice! Looks like I’ll have to find a new main.

I would be happier if they even forgo giving guardians a longbow (which doesn’t even match this class) and just fix our broken/useless traitlines/skills (zeal/radiance/spirit weapons). That would be my version of a new specialization.

I hope they give necromancer a rifle and kitten them off to.

Find a new main? What, are you serious? This doesn’t change the base class at all, this is just the specialization. You will still be able to play the Guardian exactly as you always have been.

For some, like myself, the base class is getting a bit stale, and we were looking for something new to renew our interest. The fact that this is essentially a trap ranger tacked onto guardian profession mechanics makes it feel like the proverbial nail in the coffin because it’s not new at all, and certainly not what we were hoping for.

The revenant looks like it’s more of what I wanted guardian to be anyway, to be honest.

Well, there is new stuff, but some of it might not appeal to what you like in certain classes anymore. I primarily use my Guardian and Engineer, and I personally think that I might enjoy what this specialization has to offer. It’s not what I was expecting, I must admit, but it is new and they will talk about that in 3 hours and 45 minutes. If it’s not new at all, I’ll be right there with you wielding the torches and pitchforks. I just think there’s more to this than meets the eye with the relatively nondescript preview post they did.

It’s just going to have to have traps and traits that function nothing like ranger traps and traits to hold my interest, and sadly I don’t think they’re going to make the traps work any differently than current trap builds. It just really saddens me that they’re rehashing something we already have instead of coming up with something new like they did with the chronomancer.

Speaking of the Chronomancer though, nobody is claiming that the time wells are exact rehashes of the Necromancer wells, right? Why is this instantly thrown away as a possibility for what the Dragonhunter can have happen to it? I tell you, it should not be. We don’t yet know how they are handling the traps that they give the Dragonhunter; maybe they are fired from the bow to be place really far away at the enemy’s feet (only to be avoided by dodging the attack), or maybe they can be detonated. Who knows?

My point is, they are rehashing the skills, just like they did with the Chronomancer and Necromancer, but they seem to be doing it in a way that makes it fresh. As I said, we’ll see in a couple of hours.

mesmer wells are functionally the same as necro wells far as i can tell, they just do different things.

But, again, you didn’t get “nothing new for guardians” you literally got everything you lacked, it just doesn’t hold up in dungeon content (at least what we’ve seen). I hear ya though, new content is ALL I desire, the professions I play I already love, especially with the new traits (for most of them, ele/war = zzzz)

I get nothing new to play around with in dungeons/fractals though. I was rly hoping for a bigger change, maybe an F4 ability. It’s just a shame imo, nothing to make it fresh again.

the changes to the f skills are actually probably more powerful/skill based.
im assuming these will be slightly more powerful since they must be aimed, and can probably be interupted/prevented

aimable burn beam, instead of pbaoe
aimable leap/cure/dmg instead of pbaoe cure
aimable block all for short duration vs pbaoe 1 block.

thats a pretty big deal, but i think the biggest factor is that guardians class mechanic had the least to do with the class, so altering the class mechanic doesnt change much.

it was basically just 3 signets that werent called signets.

The name I like the best is the Seeker. Since it infers someone who is searching or hunting for something (what that is could be up to the player to decide), plus it channels it’s Virtues through arrows that seek the target.

Plus the following phrases fits the Guardian; Seeker of Truth, Seeker of Knowledge, etc…

I also like the Seraph (mainly because the spec has angel wings) but we already have the organisation called the Seraph. The Herald could work too but then again we have NPCs called Heralds.

there is a book series that may sue them for that

well traps use to require you to stand on the area, but seems likely that is done.

I invite you to go read up on Thief traps and then say that again…

i mean traps baseline form where you stand, where marks were ground targeted.
And i also said that it looks like that may no longer be the case baseline anymore.

regardless, what do you mean about theif traps? the only difference is the shape, and persistence of effect from what i can tell.

A note on the “65” number: In the live stream revealing all this, they did comment that exact figures are still in flux. I’m using 65 as the baseline to get all my alts to, but I’m going to revisit my main fighters and shovel more skill challenges on them. First another 35 to 40 to cover the likely cost of the elite spec, and then any more I can stomach grinding out.

If 65 turns out to be a few shy of a full unlock for the core specs, fine, I can then do a bit of catchup whenever I feel like actually using the alt.

I just want to do my tiny, likely mostly unread bit to help forestall the outrage if people come to take “65” as written in stone.

yea, 65 is just what we are using instead of saying “estimated 65 at time of the reveal” but the suggestion is, at the time they were thinking in that family of numbers, unless the system changes.

I don’t get the hate against traps. They’re basically the same thing as wells (except that their effect only starts once enemy is on them – which is a plus, not a minus) and nobody complained about Chronomancer’s wells.

Compare them to “Marks” instead. Cause they are really just that.

Thank you! It has been driving me nuts that people have been comparing to wells, when traps are exactly the same as marks. I guess necromancer is just such an under played and underwhelming class that most players don’t know anything about marks.

being able to get 65 points from a different source would effectively increase the maximum cap higher, not only that, but people who chose to get all their exp from competitive modes would have 65 more that the other people could never get.

No, you literally do not understand what is being suggest. LITERALLY.

Re-read it again, because I’m not sure it could be clearer.

.

you would end up with more points total if you
level only in spvp/wvw first, you get up to 65 extra points which puts you at
465 points.
then you go out and do 220 skill challenges and you now have 685 skill points, while the guy who did all skill challenges first has already capped those 65 points from a different source.

if it doesnt work that way, and simply gives 65 points you can get from a different source, then you would be increasing the total amount of points available, and the costs of everything would have to go up to compensate for a higher cap.
in the future all new specs would likely follow that same number.

now if my analysis is wrong, you can either explain why, or dont explain why, but regardless it isnt clear to me how these would not be problems with the system suggested.

IMO the best solution is to create teleport consumables that give you access to teirs of skill points, that you can get in WvW
teir i hero point Warp scroll: warps you to 65 low level skill points
teir ii hero point scroll: warps you to 100 mid- high level skill points.

This is a wild fantasy, because they’d need to program in a whole new consumable, and then lay out all the points it could teleport to (carefully collision checking them etc). It would be huge effort and is not a reasonable suggestion.

they actually already had an item like this

https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Twisted_Watchwork_Portal_Device

so the code is there, all they would have to do is add skill point locations, which they also already probably have
look coordinates of skill point interaction.

since they already did this work for more types points, i would assume its not that difficult to do.

snip
let it only pick from skill points in the current zone.

Also a solution I support. “Closest incomplete hero challenge in the current zone” should be the logic for it. Keeping it zone-limited means a player won’t accidentally be shuffled off to places too high for him. And I’m okay with them being account bound to help with alts while the main farms WvW.

PvP gets everything unlocked for free as soon as this launches.
This issue is limited to the WvW populace.

There are some people who don’t like WvW and will prefer to level via PvP and tomes. Those players may want to transition their PvP-80s into PvE, so a similar option should be made available to them. (Assuming we wish to reward all play modes respectfully.)

Which makes me like phys’ teleport scroll more. It can be a competitive-play reward that extends into a PvE shortcut.

well its up to them to decide whether you should be able to fully level a charachter from SPVP, i personally think that every one who wants to dip in to the PVE/wvw mode should have to do some sort of progress based gameplay in that mode, since that is the focus of that mode. Basically pve/wvw is adventure mode, and i dont think its unreasonable to have to have some adventures in order to reach max unlocks.

but it wouldnt be the end of the world if they did put them in spvp.

should definately be soulbound though.

Why are MMO communities always calling for the end of the world? Seriously, would it hurt to have even a shred of faith that A-Net cares about the player experience? Remember when they swapped Trait systems last time? How all your characters kept the traits they had access to unlocked? And DIDN’T have to unlock all of them again? This is the EXACT same situation.

except that time they were very clear that they would be grandfathering charachters. This time what they described as the system they are putting in place, would leave some types of players with a bit of work to catch up to their old selves.

Hero Points & old characters: breach of trust

It’s something I was thinking of earlier. If PvP rank and WvW level were counted in some limited fashion as hero point rewards, it would be a decent way to reward competitive players a way to sync better with PvE. Maybe a 1:3 ratio? I’m not sure how high WvW levels go, but one of my guildies said she had over a thousand so.. That’s definitely going to need a cap.

If there’s concern that too many hero points would go out, just make the cap for all competitive points (PvP and WvW total) 65, no matter what ratio is used. That way, those who invested in tomes/gold/scrolls don’t lose so much of their progress for playing outside of PvE.

being able to get 65 points from a different source would effectively increase the maximum cap higher, not only that, but people who chose to get all their exp from competitive modes would have 65 more that the other people could never get.

if the cap goes higher, the effectiveness of skill points goes down, assuming they want you not to be able to get all the skill points you need for the next spec instantly.

say they make wvw skill points give you 5x vs pve 1x
now the total skill points available is 700 instead of 650ish
so instead of 6 lines using 100 points, they have to make six lines use 115 for example. which means more work later, for less skills per work.
also you end up making people go to WvW just for skill points which both WvW players and PvE players often complain about.

IMO the best solution is to create teleport consumables that give you access to teirs of skill points, that you can get in WvW
teir i hero point Warp scroll: warps you to 65 low level skill points
teir ii hero point scroll: warps you to 100 mid- high level skill points

it should be unlocked challenges, but if that is too much coding work, have it lock you in place and prompt if you want to warp again, scroll is consumed upon accepting the prompt, and you can interact/move.

let it only pick from skill points in the current zone.

They could make getting teir II books require you to be a higher rank, or level, or do different things in WvW if they want.
they should also be soul bound
let each book sell for a few silver, and have note to sell it if you have unlocked all of those skill challenges on that charachter.

Spvp does not need to give these scrolls, spvp players get everything they need, and money and gold/items. people who level from spvp dont need to be immune from playing pve or WvW in order to progress their charachters.

the keys here is you need a system
that has a limited amount of hero points
is charachter bound
doesnt give an advantage to stack skill points/items giving skill points.
doesnt create a big surplus of skill points that messes up the work/reward ratio later.

There’s a huge difference. The main one being:
1) World completion does absolutely nothing for you mechanically, the only thing it’s used for is legendary weapons, which aren’t particularly special other than for their skins. Stat changing is kind of nice, but without Sigil changing, it can’t be used particularly well. It’s still cheaper to just get an ascended copy for every type that you use. If I’m correct, almost everyone should be fine with grinding for skins.

Secondary, but much less relevant point: They already had to go into the PvE world for map completion, and for far more than the WvW side of it included. It would only be an apt comparison in that regard if more than half the hero points could only be acquired in WvWvW, and you needed to play both of them to unlock your traits/skills.

Tertiary point: You’re generalising PvE as a single entity. But within that sphere there are also other playstyles which don’t include map completion in their purview who suffer from it. It was possible to earn your traits from playing dungeons/fractals under the second system.

This doesn’t just hurt WvWvW players, but every single play style other than; Map Completion, 100% sPvP (Or some combination of the 3), and 100% City Roleplayers.

Humm… Actually, World completion gives a ton of exp, a ton of craft mats, stuff like BLC Keys, Exotics, etc. Mechanically its a very rewarding activity. Exploring the World is fun… If people prefer to run around in packs from point to point, ok WvW for them, but i don’t see much the point of people complaining because they got through the game without playing the vast majority of it.
NOT TO MENTION that for over a year you didn’t have Scrolls of Knowledge to use, and no one complained then.

I also am uncomfortable with the thought that stuff people already unlocked will have to be unlocked again, but then again masteries seem completely based on unlocking the same thing twice, so why are you even complaining.

Hey here’s a thought. They could actually add a repeatable mastery track specifically for WvW (like there’s masteries specific to the new map, and others for the original map, so make another for the mists) that adds 1 Hero Point on completion (which replaces gaining 1 SP every level even after you hit 80).

people keep saying things like this, but keep in mind they wanted limited amounts of hero points, and it to be primarily limited by the number of skill challenges and your level.

Then make a cap, and make it so that if you hit it by any means, the hero challenges would stop giving you anything beyond map completion ticks.

The problem with a cap, is it goes up to full.
say the cap is 540, people get 540, buy all skills, now when the new spec comes out, they have 540 points saved up.
they want people to have to play some new content, so they have extra skill points in the new zone, so now they have to make the new stuff cost 600 points.

Now they could have a really low cap, like 20, but then people would be annoyed when they have to leave to go over cap.
Skill point challenges would need to not work if you are over cap.
and what about when players level and they are over cap?

creating a flat cap doesnt make the system work they way they want it to work.

I have little hope for longbow being any good, but traps could be legitimate if they have strong damage components or really awesome trait interactions. Additionally, I’m hopeful that the elite specialization trait line will at least be pretty good. If it’s really just an attempt to enable the condition Guardian then it will be trash, though.

Honestly, I’m kind of sad about this (and especially about the name). Chronomancer set the bar so high and this was a major letdown for me.

I actually really like it, no disappointment here at all. Guard is as solid of a profession as they come. And with the new traits even more so. We have damage builds, we have more tanky builds, we have solid mixes with solid support. If we lacked anything it was condi and solid soft-CC… sounds like that’s what they brought us. May not suite PVE very well, but again, did guard need anything in PVE? I mean outside of trying to maximize damage with Ele stacking a guard is always a welcome sight in a group.

Personally what I was hoping for was a more offensive offhand, something with some real oomf, but with the new torch trait we may already have that more offensive option to bump focus out when it’s not needed. So I think it’s a good move to fill in the gaps with the specialization.

Chronomancer had to be what it is becuase mesmers simply lacked across the board with their impractical mechanics and weak damage, so I’m glad they got that boost through an amazing specialization.

I hope they follow this idea with Necros and give them some of that support they lack. And then for Ele who doesn’t really lack anything, I hope we can just get a competitive option to staff but with a more fun rotation Warrior a DPS option that isn’t facerolling the keyboard would be nice also. Engi, well I don’t really give a kitten because Engi looks awesome as is!

well one thing they mentioned, is that they want the specs to have a higher skill cieling in general.
warrior was always a little too basic for me, perhaps they can get some more interesting mechanics.

People should stop trying to imagine up class hybrids as specs. Chronomancer has NOTHING to do with Necromancers. They share Wells, but the Wells don’t even operate in the same way! And Necros don’t have shields!

I seriously expect shouts on the Tempest, and less seriously could see elixers on necromancers (Alchemy and its ties to reanimation/ever-lasting life). The weapon doesn’t have to make sense.

actually someone mentioned recently that necro original death shroud was a rewind mechanic. Other peoples have mentioned it gives you a kind of extra HP

but its not so much that the classes become exactly like another, its that they will borrow the skill set from another class. and some of their playstyle.

its not fully guaranteed yet, it could just be these two. but regardless, its a pretty good bet that they will spread the skills around, and not reuse them.
i doubt anyone else will get wells, and anyone else will get traps.

But Split/Shift is nothing like DS. It can kill you as easily as save you. I genuinely don’t see enough functional similarity to back the claim.

its basically a rewind mechanic, gone further in depth, im not saying they are identical, im saying its a combination of ideas.

is dragon hunter identical to ranger? no, its like how would guardian approach one aspect of ranger.

shouts could still go to ele,
but i really doubt necros get elixirs.

but yeah the weapon doesnt have to be linked. chrono shows that, although they said chrono, the weapon came last.

I checked back to the beginning of April, you haven’t hit DR since that time.

Thanks for posting the results (although I fear that 20 other people are also going to ask you to check for them — I would have though you would want more evidence before taking the time).

I assume you are talking about DR for drops, not event DR (which seems much easier to trigger).

I wonder how many types of DR exist?

assuming you are talking about the OP, are you saying he doesnt actually see loot drop offs in a pattern from when he starts?

is it possible that some non official drop reducing effect is at play?

which DR is he talking about, what he says doesnt give you all the info or clear info.
I get event DR from doing SW and Cursed shore, i doubt there are only 26 people in the events farms experiencing that.

no one knows what he means by DR, or how many DR/limiter systems are in place.

Event DR in SW? Is that taking into account which tier the fort is?

yes, just doing a bunch of events really fast tends to trigger event DR, and its pretty easy to tag multiple events in SW.

Well either that or my account is bugged from release and triggers event DR faster than other players.
either way, it means what JS is describing doesnt match what players are experiencing in the actual game world. And since most of the details and mechanics are hidden from players, its pretty hard to say what is a bug/odd occurence, or something normal and expected.

Many people think that the necro is going to be the 6 shout spec.
Marjory talking about Rox teaching her stances with the gs makes me wonder, though.
So yeah, engineer could get shouts.

Even though shouts are kinda lame, stances would be even lamer. At least shouts would give us the group utility we so severely lack. I’m hoping it is neither, though.

what skill type from another class would you want/expect.

A skilltype that doesn’t consist of 6 of the same? Not that it will happen, but there are so many cool skills they could give the necro, limiting their elite specs to use what others already have is a flawed system in itself. You could easily give the Necro cool skills like creating a bone wall/cage (a skill that was removed from Tequatl for whatever reason…), creating bone spikes as an attack/knockdown etc… but they cannot press that in one “type” of skill that already exists, so just not do it at all, right? I mean, Necros corruption and spectral lines have a common theme… but aren’t just 6 instant cast AE’s (shouts) or 6 pulsing ground targeted spells (wells). The best would be having a type of “Mantra”, with standard “passive” effects but unique attack and defense-type actives or something. Or steal the Revenants Mallyx-line of skills

well your best hope would be a broad skill type then
but yeah, looks like they will always be 5 new skills of one type. Which kind of makes some type of sense.
not much use in having any traits/runes/sigils that benefit a skill type if you only have like 1 or 2 of them.

3. Its copying ESO and Final Fantasy to the Cheesiest degree

I’m pretty sure hunting dragons wasn’t invented by those titles.

One game had the Dragonborn, the other Befriended a dragon from birth. yet still fight dragons. So fine, even if we don’t Need the close association with dragons to have Dragon in the class spec, Why are guardians any better at hunting Dragons than every other class. its just too broad a term for a name to give to a Specialty.

just cause you put something in your title/job doesnt mean you are better at it than anyone else.
penciler: are they better at penciling than every other artist out there?
laborer: noone else does any labor, and they are the best at it.

its just a name, not the encapsulation of their being.

So, what about by Thief, Elementalist and Ranger? Aren’t they Dragon Hunting?

the guardian is actually going to hunt them apparently, with light, bows, and traps.

theives would be dragon stalkers
mesmers would be dragon dominator
engineers would be dragon dissectors
warriors the obvious dragon slayers

anyhow the key here is the specialization is about hunting enemies.

Keep in mind that elite specs are meant to feel like a new experience. They’re almost like entire new professions, but within already existing professions.

A guardian might be a holy knight, but for their elite spec, they’ll be a holy hunter instead.

I think you’re overplaying Elite Specs. Elite specs are

  • 1 Trait line.
  • 1 Weapon.
  • A rework of profession mechanic skills.

They’re just a new spin on an existing profession, not an entirely new one. 2/3 of all your traits will be old, and unless you pick all of the new abilities and your class gets a 2H weapon, you will be using old skills too. Elite specs are not like entirely new professions.

but they are supposed to take a profession in a new direction and give some different play elements.

guardian with actual abilities on the virtues will play signifigantly different. Use of traps as well. I dont think its great, but it is different

Hero Points & old characters: breach of trust

in Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns

Posted by: phys.7689

phys.7689

After this dragonhunter crap, I have no faith anymore in Anet, that most of the rest will actually be something good.

I’m pretty sure they will ruin this game more with Sniper Rifle Thieves
Death Knight Nekros will do further the job of ruining this game more
Tempest with completely unfittign gameplay will finally hit the nail in the coffin…

druids might be good at least, from what we saw so far, it had at least the same good quality of beign a fittign good elite speizalization like the Chronomancer that fits into this game and especially also to the theme of HoT bringing us into the jungle. What would be better, than to have druids guiding us there.

the engineer thing looks at least promising so far, but I think they can also easily crew themup with auch an childish clichee name that is totally immersion breaking, somethign like Demolitionist…

About rev I have no clue, the rev in itself is also something which i think doesn’t fit really into the game and comes over like a mixture of guardian/necro/thief >.< not to mention its silly name that is no profession at all.

Warrior no clue, i just hope they ruin them not with something stupid like pistols, but after seeign the dragonhunter today, I wouldn’t be surprised if they totally wreck this game to ruins with garbage like the Commando.

So in fact, i think we all can just be happy, that thankfully the stuff so far won’t be the only elite specialization, but that classes will see in the future more.
Hopefully will get the guardian with the next elite spec then somethign fitting, that actually is part to the whole classes theme and design and fits to them also, somethign like Crusader for example, that doesn’t try to turn guardians into wannabe rangers without pets, but why pets, when they have their spiritual weapons that follow them around and are eactually same as crappy like pets already when it comes to the A.I of this game in regard of AoE control

i see what your saying, but most of these sub classes are going to take the proffesions in a different direction.

I personally dont like the guardian spec concept, but i realize no matter what, it was probably going to not completely fit the old guardians idea.

My guesses are

Warrior becomes the Commando and gets pistol.
Ranger is going to be Druid and get staff, what else no idea.
Engie is going to be Mechanic and get the hammer and maybe shouts
Thief will be Sniper and get Rifle and ?_?
Elementalist will be Tempest, get MH Sword and mantras
Necromancer will be Ritualist? and get Greatsword and spirits

i could see the engi getting shouts, but then how do the drones fit in?

Hmm perhaps the drones replace the f5, and act as a burstish skill?

I think you have to look more at the added skills than the class combos. Dragonhunter sure throws things wide open, though, much less predictable than I expected.

Engineer -Still predicting something more like Engineer with Necro minions for this (seems more likely than Spirit Weapon-style – not that there’s a huge difference).

Druid – Ranger w/Guardian Consecrates, only they’re all nature-based.

Warrior – Could go a lot of ways here, but realistically I’m expecting Pistol or Dagger. Venoms seems a bit too literal, so I’m expecting Pistol offhand and a sort of Buccaneer-ish “Fire-then-enter-melee” deal with BIG modifications to how Adrenaline works for them (not an F1-skill as usual).

Necro – I’m going to take a risk here and go with Necros getting Stealth and maybe more Shadowsteps, via new utilities and having a modified Death Shroud in the Elite spec (Reaper, maybe?) which perhaps grants stealth – agreed that they will gain burst. Necro/Thief if you want.

Thief – Errr, well, if Guardian wasn’t Paragon, maybe this won’t be Sniper? Um, still, assuming that masked man with a rifle was Thief, let’s say it is sniper. What would that get from other classes? Engineer does seem a possibility, but there’s no way they’re getting more than 1-2 kits, maybe sniper rifle is itself a kit. Maybe Steal is necessary to get the Kits or ammo for them or something? All seems a bit unlikely TBH so I’m very unsure on this.

Elementalist – Mantras do seem a good fit, I admit, if they were done right, but with the Tempest name and swords, I dunno, expecting something fast and aggressive, not something with a lot of charging and discharging. Maybe Stances, Warrior-style?

Revenant – Is it even confirmed that they get an Elite spec? I could see all their specs being “Elite” in a sense.

well, if they are going to reuse classes for different skills

yeah minions fits better than spirit weapons thematically, though they are pretty similar in use.

they did confirm revenant will have an elite spec.

ele could get revenant, and its stuff is called stances, but revenant sub is tricky because we dont know that much about them yet.

i doubt they want to give people more stealth, though it could git with some concepts of necro, but necros are seen as a selfish class, and shouts is something that can give them a different direction, at the same time improving the necros DPS. of course a bunch of classes have shouts. so i guess it could be necro/guard.

i do think they are tying them to subclasses conceptually, but its possible they arent married to it. like perhaps ele might get warrior like attunement bursts and a sword, but mantras for utility.

right now ill follow the pattern though!
bow/traps very /rng
wells/continuum shift very /necro (i heard originally necro was going to have a rewind mechanic for its mechanic, but it was too complex for starter players)

What I have noticed about Guild War’s 2 is ALL the Gold coming into the game comes from the Gem store.

This is 100% false. The majority of gold in game comes from either Dungeon rewards (majority) or selling items to the vendor(all those grey items). Teq gives 2 gold minimum each time it is completed per person. I am sure the 3 headed Worm does a similar amount and other world events give a handful of silver. That is just raw currency rewards right off the top of my head.

BTW, I stopped reading at this point because when someone is SOOOOO wrong in the first couple sentences there is no reason to read the rest of a wall of text like that. IF there are any salient points made they will be repeated later on on a lesser wall.

Cherry picking one long boss event that you will likely do once a day at most to get you just 2 gold when it costs hundreds of Gold to craft anything epic? Really? All the other trash in this game sells for coppers and most of the bosses don’t give you any trash to sell for gold or even copper. Even the level 80 junk sells for coppers.

You tell me how do you make the hundreds of Gold needed in a reasonable time frame to level up your crafting & craft Ascended gear without selling anything on the black market (as your salvaging it all for mats) and without spending weeks or even months grinding?

the gem market creates no gold, it actually reduces gold.
All gold comes from event rewards, gold drops, bag loot (give like 3 copper) and people npcing crap.
then people trade each other thier gold on the bltc.
yes, most people are poor. The rich people got their dough from the poor people, or they did a ton of dungeons.

You buy gems. You use gems to to buy gold directly or you use gems to buy keys for black lion chests and sell the results on the black market.

The market for Gem to Gold soon drops when there’s nothing in the gem store worth buying. Why? because a lot of people convert gems into gold.

If no one was doing it we would not see massive shifts from from 350 gold right down too 250 gold. There are a lot of people buying gold with gems otherwise gem to gold prices would stay above 350.

A great example of this is all the Black Lion Chest ticket weapon skins, Dyes, Contracts and mini’s on the Black Lion Market. They all sell for lots of gold. Most of that comes from store bought gems.

[edit]Some might come from key grinders but the time investment is not worth it. It takes well over a hour maybe a few just to get one key that way. In just one hour at a min wage job you can make enough money to buy 25 keys. (what most people do who work and havent got time to ruin their fun grinding keys)

oh, you dont mean gold is generated, you mean its easiest way to profit.

ehhh buying gold yes, thats a quick way.
but the actual items arent very profitable. Black lion key items are extremely ineffecient in terms of earning gold, you make more money selling gems for gold directly.

Most of the value of the gem store items, are the things you cant sell in game. armors/outfits/bank slots etc.
