I believe that it taking years is the intended design goal.
- This is likely where the disconnect occurs. They put stuff in at launch that was not intended to be seen in game for another 3 years.
Of course, they probably wanted everyone running around doing the same boring content for three years with no hope of gaining anything.
If this is true the game will be dead on its kitten in five minutes flat.
Now giving my opinion about what you said, do not take me on bouncy steps but it seems you did us a favor for implementing these features. We players got many alternatives regarding games. You did not us a favor. You did your job as a game designer to provide/bring fun and interesting content onto the game not neglecting low level players, bring underused zones to life again and surely one of Anet, Ncsoft and any other game company of keeping the players base steady growing, and have one of the best games of the year. Correct me if I am wrong.
You are wrong. They have annoyed a lot of people over the last three months of constant nerfs.
But you are right in that we have a lot of choice regarding games, which is why if they dont fix the issues regarding loot this game will be a graveyard by the end of the year.
Its not about Southsun, its about everywhere…dont you get that?
I think they allow us to farm, just not that much or for too long (DR). I think the way anet wants us to get our mats for whatever purpose is that we do a variety of different activities every time we log-in. We do a few cof runs, we do a few fractals, we do a few CS events, we do a few SSC events, we do the world bosses, we do a bit of wvw for the badges, etc. All of those things done incrementally can eventually lead to a lot of cakittenhink the point they’re trying to make is to reward people for doing what they want to do, not because they HAVE to do it, but because they WANT to do it. Granted the rewards might not be as big or superfluous as manual or traditional farming, but the point still stands on their intention. I suggest if you really wanna farm, do stuff that you like doing and you’ll find yourself getting rewarded.
This is rubbish, they have nerfed mats everywhere. I used to make a bit of gold doing Wayfarer Foothills stuff like the Grawl Cave with the winged horror and used to get over 20 bags…now Im lucky to get 3. Same with Harathi Centaur chain.
Mats have been nerfed everywhere. Not just Orr. And not just T6.
I do not agree with your assumption that casuals don’t pay for gems. In my experience, casuals pay far more than so called hardcore people and I will continue to do so.
In your experience of who? You? Well thats one customer ANet are making happy then I guess. Unless you somehow have have access to the bank accounts of everyone in the game that plays less than one hour a day of course.
I used to be fairly “hardcore” and occasionally spend cash…now I am “casual” because the game is so bad and I refuse to spend anything.
Great, thanks for the meaningless observation.
This isnt about “farming” and you people are making me angry…its common sense.
If you can only gather about 1-2 gold in the game in a day (say two hours playtime)and there are items that are available that cost between 500 and 900 gold to craft (any of the more desirable exotics like Volcanus and legendaries) that would take you somewhere between three and five YEARS to achieve.
Fact is you USED to be able to make about 10g in two hours and that, although hard work, was fair.
THIS is not fair.
Its not about farming, its about reward for your play time. I would expect anyone to be abkle to craft a legendary with between 9 months and a year of play time. This also used to be well within reach. Now it is not.
This is not about people playstyles or whether they are farming or not, its about NERFS.
It seems quite clear there is a problem with T6 Mats that is only affecting some people. Some people (as in another post) think you can still get between 1 and 5 an hour through normal play, and that certainly used to be the case for me. But I am seeing probably 1 a week now (15-20 hours play).
Is DR bugged and "sticking"on certain people is what I want to know?
This is a serious problem for me and, no, I am not a farmer.
I wont be buying Wildstar or any other NCSoft game until they learn to appreciate that rewarded and happy players spend money and support games. Not spending £60 to level to highest level and then find out everything you want is nerfed to the floor or hidden behind cash shop transactions.
I’m going to put this really simply.
Other games: you literally have to grind to see new content or else your gear is not powerful enough to do the content.
GW2: Zero, none, nada need to grind to see all content in the game. Nearly max stat gear is extremely easy to get.
I’ll put this really simply, you are right, you can experience all the content in the game without the cosmetic gear. But then what do you do? Do it all again? How many times do you do that?
Till anothergame comes out?
Answer = yes
Without a purpose (advancement in power / skills or vanity items). There literally is no game. Never mind end-game.
So is this really meant to be a play-through once or maybe twice if you have an alt you can actually be bothered to level without crafting it to 80? Until the next expansion comes out maybe? Or wait, there is living story…which so far every time it was added took me less then two hours to finish and then wait a month for the next two hours worth?
Meh. Bored senseless.
(edited by pricer.5091)
You realise they can be transmuted right?
Its about making as much money as possible before everyone leaves. Sad but true.
Someone mentioned Volcanus. Try and go from 0 to about 500g right now and see how long it takes. Because I can tell you it didnt used to take as long as it would now. I know, because I did it and now I’m trying to do it again. And it will take YEARS.
OMG….an answer from a dev. Im impressed. Admittedly he did answer a completeley different question than the one that the thread posed, but hey its a start.
For clarity. Forget about Southsun…what happened everywhere else?
Not really, but I do find it kind of stupid that a deer can be looted for anything other than meat (always) and leather (if you have a knife and know what you are doing).
Cant recall any of the great fantasy novels having the hero pull his mighty sword out of the butt of a pig he’d just had for breakfast.
Or weeks are blured together into Paychecks
I can certainly sympathise with that feeling
So they add similar processes to games to make it more realistic and to give you other activities to do in between killing things.
Except, just this morning I killed a stag in Wayfarer Foothills and it dropped an axe. They do this quite regularly in fact. Clever are the ways of the deer. Sometimes these stags have a hide and sometimes they dont. Weird genetic mutation?
Realistic my butt.
Er, you know a week only has 168 hours in it? And if you work 100 you only have 68 left? Of those 68 even assuming you only slept 5 hours a day, thats another 35 hours gone leaving you 33, which is not a lot by anyones standards and if you dont work in your house you must be travelling. Do you eat…lets assume yes. Toilet? Most likely. You probably have less then 10 hours free a week and yet you raid, stay up to to date with games and still have a rewarding social life?
You must share your secrets. Im amazed.
By definition a game that doesn’t have end-game but only “game” needs to add new and interesting “game” far faster than is occurring. Or people will go and find a new “game”…which may or may not contain “end game”.
But once people run out of “game”…thats when people disappear. And that really is “end OF game”.
Unless of course you are happy doing the same things repeatedly day after day with no concept of boredom. In which case you should become an accountant. See, theres a place for everyone under the sun.
I won’t buy RNG for the following reason, one I’d say people should consider before parting with money you presumably worked hard to get.
There has not been one patch that did not require fixing, on most occasions multiple times. The recent admission that salvage kits weren’t working as intended was one that only cam after multiple complaints and people providing enough evidence that this was the case.
So, who’s to say the boxes you are buying aren’t bugged too?
I am so bored of this “A-Net wants you to play the game” rubbish. The game is, in a nutshell, wandering about killing things, and thats it. How long can you expect that to occupy even an average mind, much less an intelligent one.
The only differential is WHERE you choose to wander about killing things and whether you choose to wander about on your own or in a group. Without an aim this becomes so boring very quickly. With an aim, you proceed to do the events and dungeons and kill the things that enable this aim. But where are they? The minute you find one, it gets removed. So you are back to wandering about killing things. Doesn’t matter if its world bosses, dungeon mobs, random mobs or event mobs.
You are wandering about killing stuff. With no easily identifiable reason. They come back, you kill them again. And again.
“Play the game”? I’ve played it. Ive killed everything twice, been everywhere (been there and done that). Man, I ’ve killed a lot of stuff. And I still dont have the resources withint the game to buy or craft the few remaining things that interest me.
Kill stuff. Get junk. Kill more stuff, get more junk. Do it again. New content. Kill it. Kill it again.
Wheres the stuff that motivates? Wheres the shinies, wheres the baubles that keep you interested? Cos its not porous bones and globby glooby goop….no Sir it isnt.
People make it sound like the game is a candy colured lane of never ending possibilities. It’s not…its a place where you wander about and kill stuff repeatedly with no effect on the world, no loot and little to no variety.
Wake up.
I’m pretty sure a world boss with 2 guaranteed rares or exotics, plus a chest and a drop off a legendary mob will inspire people to do it.
Yeah the lure of making maybe 40 silver (assuming your salvage kit is working) and repeatedly dying in one shot to something (presumably 10 million karka due to the damage I just got dealt) you cant see due to the horrific lag and culling whilst being surrounded by 30 other instantly dead folks is well worth a visit to somewhere that doesnt even have a waypoint next to it.
And that wasnt even the event, because that didnt spawn (is that bugged too?) after we finally corpse dragged our way to getting 4/4 settlements back off the 10 million karka.
It won’t get me going back very often thats for sure. But it might make me reach for a gun and a bottle of scotch. Fun, fun, fun.
“or exotics”………yeah right. And I’m the crazed karka Queen of Sheba.
And while we’re on the subject the vendor weapons look like garbage, have garbage stats and cost too much. The medium armor set makes you look like you have gained employment in an abbatoir as a cleaner. Oh look its another boring overcoat. Yawn.
(edited by pricer.5091)
Erm, yeah. You missed the point, it was buried in the bit you didn’t read.
Well, whatever, we’ll probably have the last laugh, seeing as game industry salaries hit their peak back in Tomb Raider (mark one) days, games houses are closing more frequently then pub doors in Israel, anyone that works in the industry is totally at the whim of an extremely fickle customer base and cheap Korean and Indian labour is making it increasingly hard to negotiate anything approaching a decent package.
But still, theres loot in them thar hills right?
So is this ANet admitting that they can’t make gear with multiple slots?
Because the previous notation style looked like normal gear with a locked in place jewel to make room for a infusion slot. Now instead they look like every other gear except they have a infusion slot in place of a jewel/rune slot.
Finally, an intelligent response. Although the point was in fact more aimed at there being an unnanounced change (and one of many judging by the loot nerf threads), rather than the content of the actual change.
Its a change, it should be a a frickin patch note .
This is a minor and unaffecting change…..others are not so minor. But they are equally unannounced.
Didn’t bother with bold or capital typeface because I dont like to come across as an angry shouty moron. Others styles my vary.
so previously on lost:
Exotic berserker amulet listed as:
90 power
64 precision
5% crit
+25 power
+3%crit
15 precision
Ascended used to be listed in same way. ie. as if you had slotted the piece with a berserk jewel. ie. 2 sets of stats
Now ascended is listed like this:
115 Power
79Precision
8% Crit
Unused offensive / defensive nfusion
There si obviously no change to stats overall, but how about a heads up in the patch notes that you’re gonna change it?
OK. So ANet can let the anecdotal evidence pile up, continue to ignore it, deny there is any problem possibly and what? People who are fed up will leave.
Couple this with expansions like Frame and Frost and Soutshun and erm…game dead by the time Teso/ Archeage / FFX or whatever the next big thing is.
Like I said, dont care…Im just not financially supporting a company that doesnt care either.
Of course now might be the time for you to start back peddling.. seeing they have highlighted the "bug introduced into salvaging… its ok though, I am sure you can find some other use for the rose tinted glasses you just trod on
I like to re-iterate this, but the ecto thread had mountain of hard data, thoroughly recorded and presented.
What does this thread have? None of that meticulous evidence-gathering.
Until posters gather sufficient data and post it, this thread remains utterly unconvincing that there’s some “nerf.” I really hope the success of the ecto thread persuades people to actually present some evidence when making accusations, right or wrong.
Who actually cares what you think? The onus of proving a complaint is not on the customer, it is on the company to investigate it and confirm if there is a problem or not. The fact that there are hundreds of posts about this should be evidence enough.
If you bought a camera that you thought had a fault, would you be expected to take hundreds of photos with it and send them to the camera manufacturer? No, you owuld complain, send it back, they would investigate it and if neccesary fix it.
Its called customer service.
The reason there almost certainly wont be an admission of a fault on this one, is because I’m fairly convinced its intentional. Bag drop rates for example have dropped in every single zone, including the starter zones.
So Im still waiting for the answer? What I’m not waiting for is specualtive, ridiculous, fan statements like yours with no grounding in fact.
So John Smith – Bug or intentional?
Thats great, it really is.
Now can John Smith please look into the reduced drop rates overall, especially Bags in Orr and the drop rates from them, but loot generally.
Or is he not looking at the many hundreds nd hundreds of posts about that?
Did I mention ectos? I did, and said I haven’t noticed them nerfed. Thankyou.
Am I a farmer? No I am not. Thankyou.
Are you a fanboy who doesn’t even read posts? Yes you are. You’re welcome.
Fact is the entire forum is full of people claiming loot nerfs and none claiming that loot is great. Whilst I accept that the forum isnt representative of EVERYONE….it can be taken as a good indicator that there is a perceived problem. As far as Im aware Anet have neither confirmed or denied increasing loot nerfs over recent patches and they werent in the patch notes.
As stated at the beginning, I actually dont care if they have or not, I just want to know (for definite), so I can use that as a basis to decide whether or not to continue pursuing the game and also investing in it. because right now, for me personally, there is no point as I will never achieve what I want to achieve in the game. Which 3 months ago, I reasonably thought I could.
I am under no illusion that they will answer the question….unless of course there is some kind of bug they intend fixing. Because if the nerfs have been deliberate and they say they were deliberate, the game will drop players like nothing on earth.
(edited by pricer.5091)
Makes me think of football, another great game ruined by greed.
Looking at volume of sales I do not see a decrease in sales of Tier 6 mats.
I wish we could see how many Tier 6 mats the OP here is trying to sell. I would guess quite a lot, to go to all the trouble of trying to pretend their drop rate has been nerfed.
Im not trying to sell ANY. Because the amount I have gathered and been saving over the last three months is worth less than 10g…and thats the problem.
Door is over there, thanks for popping by with your worthless inanity.
Frankly would be the third if not fourth “accidental” nerf discovered by players….
Nope. It would be the tenth time players stand on their soap box to complain about a nerf that doesn’t exist, due to lack of knowledge about statistics. This community loves lying through their teeth about drop rates. Most do it out of sheer ignorance, a few do it to artificially increase the price of items they are selling in the TP.
No sorry, you are wrong. I play enough hours and have continuously played enough hours to NOT be basing on this speculation. The loot I am receiving is definitely, categorically a lot worse and has continued to decline with every patch since November. FACT.
Whilst your results may be different that is my experience (and a lot of other peoples, including my guild) and its based on hundreds of hours playtime…not a casual observation. I worked up to approximately 400g worth of mats and gold to make Volcanusmany months ago. I wouldn’t even bother trying now, it would take far, far too long. In fact I’ve been saving every T6 mat I get for the last 3 months and I have way less than 40 of most of them. I used to get 10-15 Heavy Moldy Bags on a penitent event, now I get 5 if I’m lucky and they mostly drop silk and leather. I used to get 5-7 lodestones out of 250k worth of Karma in Jewellery boxes…yesterday I got one.
The only thing I personally havent noticed a nerf to is ecto hit rate, but I dont grind world events so dont actually salvage many rares.
edit: would really like an answer on this, as right now there is not a lot of point playing as what I want in the game is legendary (like a lot of people) and other expensive stuff. Which, whilst I’m ordinarily happy to pay the occasional microtransaction for I am certainly not going to spend hundreds of pounds of real money on….and wont spend one penny until I’m told what was done to loot, at which point I will need to make a decision whether to keep playing or not.
(edited by pricer.5091)
I suspect that the following items have had their drop rates significantly reduced and I would like the compnay to confirm this please.
I dont want an argument about it, I just want to be told categorically whether these have been reduced as I strongly believe such changes should be included in patch notes. and I very strongly believe that these have been very significantly reduced.
1) Heavy Moldy Bags
2) Tier 6 Mats
3 ) Tier 6 Mats from Bags
4) Lodestones from Orrian Jewellery Boxes
5) Tier 5 Mats
6 ) ALL crafting mats and bags throughout every region in the game.
7) Chance of T6 Mats from Mystic Clover Crafting
I used to be able to make about 10g in a good gaming session…now I am making next to nothing. And no I wasn’t “farming”…I was “playing the game”.
I’m not spending any (real) money in the store until I get an answer on this. That’s a promise.
The actual game being what it is, is one thing. Either people will like it and keep playing or they wont. But bugs, especially major ones are another issue. They should be fixed on discovery, and yet there are still bugs here from launch.
So does Legend of Zelda on Nintendo…I still play it from time to time. But I didnt buy it last year. Fine to introduce stuff like that and I agree it was fun, but not while there are so many things to fix and sort out.
The fact that it was so popular with players could also indicate how little else there is to do. Two sides to every continue coin.
any stealth changes in this patch? because there always has to be some, you know.
Yes…but I cant tell you what they are because then they wouldn’t be stealthy
You only just noticed? You didnt notice that berserker gear on the TP costs roughly 4 times what any other set costs?
The loot tables for the entire area of Orr have been changed. Fact.
Based on many hundreds of hours of played there and based on the money I bank compared to the money I banked before. And if nots so, I want a dev to confirm that it is not so. In hich case I want them to explain the DR that I must be suffering from were that the case. Which it isnt, as my entire guild have noticed the nerf.
People who want to whine about a game usually congregate at the games official forums. Everyone else is too busy playing.
And you are where exactly? Genius. Pure genius.
I recently patched myself and want the company to be aware of the changes.
- Player will log off much quicker after killing 100’s of mobs in Orr, doing DE’s and receiving only trash
- Player will log off much much quicker after thinking “lets have a go somewhere else” and repeating the mob killing in Mount Maelstrom only to get endless globby goop and trash.
- Player will display a “disgusted” emote every time killing more than 5 mobs in a row in Orr results in NO loot.
- Player will no longer pay for gems in the store. Player used to when player considered that the game was fair. Player is tired of being slipped the porous bone.
Gem purchasing will recommence when game is fixed, that is all…thanks for listening.
I found the OPs statement to be very profound. Sad only deaf ears have responded for the most part.
I’ll go a step further.
Get out of your chair and experience the real world. if it is too much for you, don’t look to have the void filled by a game.
If you feel it is a spiritual thing you require. I will chat with you in private messages
I’m so tempted to go and edit Wikipedias definition of the word “irony” to accomodate your post.
Irony: People on the internet telling people on the internet to go outside.
if players wanted a challenge at lower level zones they would simply remove their Elite skill and their armor .
Or more accurately, if people wanted a challenge they could go play something more challenging…like Angry Birds or Tetris.
You want “replay value” effectively, so just roll an alt? Seriously, if I get to be fully level 2 -4 again and spend more than one second killing anything when I go to Wayfarer and feel like gathering some quick mats or doing a quick daily, I will quit the game altogether.
AND, if your soultion were put into place…why bother having levels at all? As every single location in the game would be the same…difiiculty wise? Might as well just roll create a character, get given all traits immediately and access to all waypoints in game immediately. Its a frankly stupid suggestion.
(edited by pricer.5091)
Yeah Im all for an easier method of getting a precursor, seeing as I still dont have one.
Oh…as long as someone refunds all the money I’ve already spurged into the mystic toilet. About 250g I estimate. I’ll be happy to have it back. Till then you can just go suck a lemon.
For instance, in the dredge fractal, when you are fighting the insane aoe veteran bombers, why does the aoe affect the party and not the enemy? Thay just threw a bomb…if they are standing in it when it goes off it should affect them too right?
Having previously sold all of any mats I gathered, I am now saving them in an admittedly slow general idea that someday I will obtain a legendary. In 2 months I have less than 35 of every T6 mat. This is admittedly “casual play”, at this rate it will take me probably a year to gather what I need. Does this really matter..no. Is it understandable why people get frustrated..yes.
mmoRPG. The RPG bit stands for role-playing game. What if the role you want to play is “someone who makes money” from providing a service? What on earth is wrong with that?
