Hey y’all.
I have just a quick question regarding the new Halloween costumes. Is it possible to just equip the broom or axe with your normal town clothes and use their abilities without equipping the entire set?
Thanks!
Like everyone said, zerker for pve. For WvW, not so much, since you’ll just rally enemy players when you die. So you’ll want something a bit beefier.
But whatever you decide on doing in the end, make sure you have +crit damage stuff on your trinkets, since it gives the best ratio for crit damage to the replaced stat.
Crit damage is best placed on the trinket’s upgrade slot, not the actual trinket.
These effects are the only reason to craft legendaries. If their effects become toggleable, then they will look like just valueless exotic skins. I hope anet doesn’t add such a senseless feature. If they add this someday, they will have to refund all 1600-1700 gold cost to legendary weapon owners.
People who would turn off legendary effects don’t care that you have a legendary in the first place. So if they turn them off, you aren’t losing anything. You won’t be losing the awe factor if it would never have been there in the first place.
If your enjoyment of the game comes from flaunting a sparkly, expensive weapon in the faces of people who don’t care, then you may need to reevaluate your priorities.
Some people don’t want to have these weapons shown on their screen, sometimes it’s just a bit too much.
Then as i say, anet must refund legendary owners’ 1600+ gold at first before making such a mistake.
These are vanity items, you can be jealous of other players’ items and you may not want to see them because of jealousy, but that doesn’t mean you can prevent hardcore players’ effort to get better visual items. This game is only about visuals when it comes to items. If effects are lost, or toggleable there’s no point to craft a legendary.
It’s like wanting rich guys with ferraris&lambos disappear from the streets just because you don’t want to see them anymore. People don’t craft these to just see these in their own screen. So toggleable effects = death of legendaries. An ascended weapon would be more than enough then.
I don’t care if they make it toggleable but they have to add an option to refund crafting cost/materials of legendaries for existing owners before adding this, or they have to buff their stats much much more to compensate the loss of visual effects. Legendaries must have an advantage or prestige somehow. Legendary weapons are the game’s main objective, get over it. More than 50% of regular or hardcore players just play to craft a legendary(or many more). You guys cry about rainbows and unicorns then you have to cry about legendary shortbow and other ugly ones, not all legendaries. Ugly effects need to be replaced with better ones, mustn’t be removed completely.
Stop and think for a second that players may not actually be jealous of a legendary item. That maybe this toggle wouldn’t be used out of spite, but rather to tone down graphics or keep obnoxious effects away from their own personal line of sight.
And your Ferrari and Lamborghini comparison is awful. Your need to assume that people want to spite you out of jealousy is so far off base. A better comparison would be if your car made a loud screeching or reflected the sun back in everyone’s eyes.
But I guess I’m just blinded by jealousy. Because who wouldn’t be jealous of you?
Won’t ever happen. This game is almost entirely built around cosmetics and looks. If they make it so that no one can see your looks then the entire purpose of the game is gone and so is the carrot and by extension their money.
You can already give every other player a generic model, it just won’t hide their weapons or footfalls.
So no, they are not against giving players an option to hide certain cosmetic aspects of other players in the name of improved performance.

How often does the stealth actually keep you stealthed, though? I’d imagine if you have auto attack on, you’re likely to have a projectile you fired before becoming immobilized (and stealthed) break you out of stealth as soon as it lands and deals damage.
I have this problem a lot as a pistol/X thief. I need to time my instant stealths (blinding powder, stealth on steal, etc) between my auto attacks if I actually want the stealth to last longer than it takes for the projectile to travel. Except engineers won’t have that luxury.
I’d also imagine if you use a flamethrower, this trait is almost always out of the question. Unless I’m missing something, of course.
I picked this one to respond to since it most accurately describes where I was before I improved at PVP. What I learned was: If you have auto-attack active on your weapons and a majority of your kits, your chances of escaping with Cloaking Device will be greatly reduced. You should weigh the risks of having them in each scenario. I turned it off for my pistols when I became a multi-kit engineer. Good FT engies a while back figured out the issues of FT versus retaliation. i.e. don’t have it on, deselect your target mid-stream, or back up off out of range so the auto-attack stops. Fighting confusion-based engies and mesmers should cement that concept. The best advice I ever got here on the forums was to deactivate all auto-attack, and maybe keep it for bomb kit 1. Seemed difficult but I tried it for a month. Once I gave it up, my ability to escape and reset a fight dramatically improved.
So when you get immobilized and whooped on by 1-3 enemies, Cloaking Device gives you an opening but it’s up to your other traits and utilities to save you. like Protection Injection and 409. I had it set up with elixir S before so I’d get cloaked and I’d walk away from the immobilize, right through cleaves and AoEs, with only health-affecting conditions left cleanse once I got back to regular size. It’s cool but it doesn’t get you very far so you’ll be spotted again in an open space when stealth wears off. Or I’d use rocket boots but those can suck if you get cloaked and you RB against a wall trying to break the standing immobilization. So you gotta weigh the risks on each map and how you’re playing that day.
Also you should know that most non-damaging attacks won’t break or prematurely end your stealth. That goes for Shield 4 Magnetic Inversion in a smoke field or Slick Shoes to impair your enemy (I believe). Either way, careless auto-attack will unilaterally reduce your ability to escape from immobilize-based burst with your Cloaking Device consistently. Auto-attack makes tanking a lot easier though, so that’s the tradeoff I guess.
This is all very good information and can be helpful, but you can turn off auto attack and still run into this issue. On my pistol thief, I turned off auto attack for this very reason. Turning off auto attack helps, but it’s still very easy to have a projectile going when you are hit with an unexpected immobilize. Bombs have a delay and are a huge culprit of this.
Rocket boots are nice and I almost always have them on my utility bar. Unfortunately, using them while stealthed with an enemy in melee range will reveal you, which is generally the case.
- Toss Elixir S while underwater still has a chance to grant either stability or stealth.

Hey all.
I’m curious if it’s possible to join the Lunatic Inquisition with your friends specifically. A friend and I came across this, but were puzzled as to how to play together.
Is it just not possible? If so, that’s somewhat disappointing.
You won first place in competition " Biggest Troll " this month
Congratulations Mr randomly.6395
I hope I don’t come off as someone who actually wants any of these nerfs. I main a thief and find people who suggest nerfs that are completely overboard to be hilarious.
These would be the patch notes if every suggested thief change I’ve seen ingame or on these forums were implemented. Feel free to add more that you’ve seen. (note that I am not calling for these nerfs, quite the opposite.)

Bumping this because the transformation should last 30 minutes to an hour! With so many different cats, having to cycle through them every five minutes for the one you want is too much hassle for an item that costs 100 laurels.
Ricochet and pierce? So if I pierce 5 targets and 3 of them produce a ricochet, how did I suddenly end up with 4 bullets?
Fun fact, MF caps at 300%. Making the infusion useless at that point. Go with gold find.
You won’t be capping MF anytime soon.
So all of you people that complain about ascended in wvw, you don’t kill up levels right? I mean, that would be just hypocritical. You also make sure to party your enemy and make sure they’re wearing the appropriate gear so that you’re both on an even level right? Do you at least make sure to ask them how many hours they have been playing and their estimated skill level?
Wait, you don’t do this?
Then stop complaining.
Upleveled players still contribute to their world, no matter how small. This problem is that time gated equipment punishes experimenting with builds.
When there are quotes flying around that level 80 characters would have the best gear readily available, many people looked at this as a way to get right into the game without having to worry about working on your gear. Without having to worry that once you’ve got this gear, trying out any other builds would be a hindrance.
You call it complaining, I call it leaving feedback. Some people on this forum are certainly complaining, but I don’t see that in this thread’s OP.
I’m indifferent toward where this game goes regarding vertical progression. I’ll get to it when I get to it. But I can understand that some people feel this game is going in a direction it had not originally intended to, and I’m confused why you think people shouldn’t be miffed at that.
Also, let’s downscale Exotic to rare because that’s unfair. Don’t stop there? Ok, next let’s downscale rare to masterwork because those are cheaper! Still too much grind? Ok, I’ll take those masterworks down to Fine.
There is a much wider gap obtaining ascended than obtaining exotic, including a time gate. It punishes trying out different builds in WvW.
But I don’t care, either way. I’ve been doing WvW in rare gear and have been doing more than fine.
I think this would be the best idea. Currently WvW is the only place I can understand people’s upset about them, as you’ll be fighting people with ascended. But PvE is more than easily done with exotics.
They really REALLY need variety in their armor skins. For a game that was touted as cosmetic armor as the endgame, it is sorely disappointing to see a complete lack of sets centered around pants for both light and medium armor.
I really hope we can start seeing sets similar to the OP’s screenshot. Simple, yet interesting, fitting a theme.
Arenanet, my wife is too hot, I want a divorce.
What if they replaced your wife? But she’s even hotter, so who cares, right? She’s not the same person you married.
I personally think the footfalls look bad. Doesn’t mean they are bad. But when you take the time to craft something as hard as a legendary, you deserve to have the option to toggle off new things that are added to it that weren’t there before.
It doesn’t matter that the majority think the new footfalls are better. It’s a slap in the face to work for months on a weapon with a vision in mind, only to have it changed. Having the ability to toggle legendary footfalls on/off would appeal to both crowds.
And no, I don’t have the Dreamer, nor am I working on it. But it’s not hard to look at something subjective and realize you’re looking at something subjective.
but what if you went into McDonalds thinking you were getting a free burger and they gave you KFC instead?
Great analogy. That’s pretty much what happened from my point of view.
“I don’t want your free finger-licking good drumstick!
I want my free cheeseburger!!!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW!
I hate you!!
You’re a loser!!”Spoiled brats that you just want to high five
on the face
with a trebuchet.No, not really.
No grind – Yes there is.
New Content – New mini games for 2 weeks at a time.I couldn’t care less if its free or not, but doesn’t mean I am getting what I ordered when I walked through the door.
And it isn’t free because you paid to walk through the door.
That’s a pretty bad analogy. You paid for the gw2 game as it was. These content patches are free. It doesn’t matter that the developers are being paid in gem store purchases. Did you buy gems for whatever you wanted those gems for, or did you pay for them knowing if you didn’t, there’d be no content patches?
The point is that you bought the game, you bought gems, but you didn’t buy the new content. Free. An overall better analogy would be to say you bought a hamburger for the hamburger, and got some fries thrown in for free. (let’s ignore that in this scenario, these fries may have given you food poisoning.)
I apologize for the bump, but is there still no word on this set? It’s absence continues to plague me.
The pants have been missing from PvE content for what appears to be a year now. Can we ever expect to see the rest of this set implemented?
Portals don’t effect me at all, so I don’t mind, really. But at the same time, they propose a strange problem of being able to completely skip content to gain a reward. While the rewards are often not the best, the principle remains the same.
What if players could skip directly to the end of dungeons and pick up the rewards at the end? Or skip their whole personal story , skip the entirety of world exploration, or have all achievements given at login. From a game design perspective, it promotes being rewarded for things you have not done.
“But how does this hurt you?” It doesn’t, simply. But how does it help the player being ported? If there were no rewards at the end of the puzzle, why be ported up there in the first place? If players can be ported, why not instead have the chest and achievement at the beginning of the puzzle? They aren’t there for the jumping.
I’m experiencing the same problem, specifically the ground becoming invisible. Specifically happens in Divinity’s Reach when loading in. Both bottom two settings are on low.
Divinity’s Reach is also insanely more laggy after the patch, for myself, at least. I would prefer to adjust my settings exactly as they were before the patch, as this appears to have made things worse for myself.
Hey guys.
I’ve been holding onto The Crossing staff skin for months now, keeping it safe in my bank. But today I went to go grab it and to my surprise, it’s gone. I’ve checked all of my characters with no trace of the staff to be found.
I’m assuming I must have accidentally deleted or sold at one point, as there is no way I would intentionally throw it out. I wouldn’t be surprised if I had vendored it, as it was transmuted onto a lower level staff skin, which does not show the transmuted icon in the vendor window.
Moving forward, is there anyway to recover lost items? At the price the staff is at now, buying a new one is completely out of the picture. It’s incredibly disheartening to find something like this can happen so easily and permanently (more so with the vendor list not showing transmuted items).
Thanks

Rubric armor is given as story rewards and drops uncommonly from enemies in level 40+ areas.
What was the name of the armour from the story reward?
EDIT: Ahhh, it’s called Stalwart’s Pants, it’s from the Tower Down PS mission.
I really appreciate you going out of your way to help me find these pants, but that ign link has said the same thing for months now and remains to be false information. They simply do not drop or have such a small drop chance that they haven’t been up on the AH once in little under a year.
As for the Stalwart’s Pants, it’s likely that these pants were supposed to have the Rubric Armor skin, as to match the chest piece earned earlier in the story quests, but unfortunately they do not.

Using the link in-game shows these pants to have a different model.
Hey y’all.
I’ve been playing since the GW2 betas and I have to say, I still greatly enjoy this game. The armor sets and designs are lovely and I enjoy collecting as many as I can grab. Any game I play I just go crazy for the armor designs, but one in particular has eluded me since I first stumbled upon it shortly after release.
The Rubric Light armor that can be found in the PvP locker. I’ve added a screenshot at the bottom for reference (the boots in that screenie are not part of the rubric set). The leggings, specifically, cannot be obtained in PvE. I’ve managed to snag the top off a story quest on my human mesmer, but the leggings appear to be simply missing from PvE content.
Is it possible we’ll ever see this set fully implemented into the PvE game? Those of us after a more simple, studious, caster class would be overjoyed to see this set finally make its way into the game outside of the sPvP scene.
Best wishes.
