story mode: has plot, linear but guided path with NPCs. one, single path.
explorable mode: not as many NPCs, if any, less guided besides main objective down multiple paths.
you can do exploration mode without doing story first, but you must group with somebody who already has done story mode. if you want to lead a party of 5 and do exploration mode, you have to do story first.

level 5 in art of war, and it should be the guild bounty mission.
I like the new dailies. i just logged in from work, and i like that i can choose to do several, and not all of them.
i have yet to start them, but i would like to know the following:
1) is there only the SINGLE Tier for all activities? i saw the jump puzzle one, and at Tier1, it only has me doing ONE JP.
2) because i like the new ones so much right now, will there be any bonuses if i go ahead and do them all? so like, if i do 5 i get daily, regular rewards. but after if i continue, does it give me an additional bonus if i do another 2 or 3 on top??
3) also, with question 2, finishing dailies disables the rest?
truth be told, i am really close to getting my req’d 500, so i am trying to hurry and complete that for the Gift of Color. i would like to eventually lead a guild team in the future with my found knowledge.
i find arah to be my “new flavor of the months”, since i have not returned into Orr since completing my story. i have been going on Path 3 runs, and learn something new each time. i have spykits to help myself cap at the last altar part, i listen to instruction if given early enough, but i lack in jumping skills (for the first part with the jumping on the lantern thing) and the running part (with all the mobs, after the lantern part). when running path 3, i am currently trying to apply what i have learned so far, and feeling out groups to apply where necessary. i have the base idea down (where bosses are, lupi phases, where to stand), but still come up short where i mentioned.
Name: Elosina Mayflower (elementalist)
NA server, Kaineng
Traited: power/toughness/vitality (in that order, for ele)
primary skill: fire, but i run earth in dungeons, with little bit of fire. earth shioelds help me some during lupi.
equipment: has ascended rings, recent amulet, back piece, plus re-skinned exotics. uses primarily staff due to high level areas.
availability: M-TH 9-11pm PST, fridays until 11pm (short break for dinner between 7 and 9), sat after 2pm, sunday all day until 11pm
thanks for your time, tolerance, and opportunity.

i was thinking the karma one, as well. i have been saving all my karma items for when i get the karma upgrade, so that i can get more boxes. with the karma one, guaranteed some okay karma if playing everyday in daily rewards. then, when getting boxes from Orr vendors, i can recoup some of it back, and try my luck again, saving a trip or two. also, when doing events in lower areas, it can be a passive boost i don’t have to buy from the gem store.
i already run 20% magic find, but it does not seem to help me at all. my guardian has 25%, but gets nothing either.
the +4 [stat] i don’t think is not really worth it, even at the cheaper laurel prices. i was thinking of gold, since i like getting gold. but if for a period of time i don’t enter dungeons or high-level areas, the karma one seems the most consistent across useability. if i don’t do a dungeon or fractals, the increase in gold is not used as effectively.
pray that maybe, along with usual “sales” on items, maybe there will be a discounted weekend for transfers, or something.
trahearne+zhaitan hybrid boss. after the ritual in Orr, trahearne fuses with the undead, and becomes part of zhaitan. in the final battle, spamming 2 not only kills zhaitan, but trahearne, as well.
make a sell-all button in the trade post UI, to combat the “error, cannot sell” error. one transaction option sells everything in one go.
ability to go back to search results in TP without having to search for items again. option to only show what you can use, and add a preview to the TP. armor and item icons can be misleading.
elimination of way point fees for map completion. 100% map completion should equate to 100% FREE travel costs. couple it with magic find buff, and have a possibility of gaining some copper back when traveling (buff disabled at 100% completion). exploitable, yes. fun? YES.
legendaries also give character a super saiyan like aura when equipped. the shiny armor is cool, and the unicorns and disco ball are also cool, but having an aura is also cool.
way more zones to explore. ring of fire islands will have 12 dragon events that last 15 minutes each, and cycle so that they may be farmed. or maybe something like the shatterer, but with 5 shatterers at the same time. they will all spawn at the same time, so that there is variety.
dyes become acct bound, more town clothes, more town games to interact with in the world or cities (like a merry go round). drinking contest at the city bars, and more moots in hoelbrak for players to take part in (for a race to boast about large moot parties and lots of drinking, they don’t seem to do any of that much).
i like the idea of the orrian chests for karma. put those in lower end zones and cities, as well, different areas give different items. more gamble yes, but with more variety.
downed skill “bandage” cannot be interrupted. if you are constantly being attacked while in a downed state, there’s no point in trying to bandage back up anyways.
put larger platforms in jumping puzzles, for more accessibility for differently-skilled players. jump puzzles will have checkpoints.
wvw maps will be smaller, so that there is more frequent group combat. zergs chasing zergs are boring. bottom tiered servers get an ecto drop % boost.
instance jumping puzzles in wvw, so everyone inside is marked as friendly to each other.
oh, and no diminishing returns, and drop rate mimics that of borderlands 2.

maybe, make the content into the different guild upgrade tiers. with each tier, the amount of content increases, as the difficulty. maybe it will work like this anyways, but starting at level 5 of a upgrade tier kind of bugs some the wrong way.
at level 1, make the most basic modes (easier?) available at this tier.
at level 2, this would have maybe 2-3 additional event types. difficulty scale starts, here (maybe like fractals?)
at level 3, + number of events, or the existing ones get tougher.
at level 4, etc, all the way to w/e level of guild tier max.
so basically they should make it like fractals. with more people, and out in the world instead of shoehorning it into ONE AREA.
also give laurels for completion of guild events
should quell all of the complaining about laurels, since there will be another way of obtaining them, but only once a day, so you can only get one for daily, and one for guild event, per day.
1) ele – main
2) guardian
3) ranger
4) guardian – my last alt
maybe just my style of play, but my main paid for themselves and my #2 character, so it has the most playtime. characters 1+2 paid for 3rd, and now 1-3 are paying for 4th.

i believe anet gave a fair amount of warning before the actual locking in process for gem transfers. while i moved as soon as my guild told me i should, there was i think a period of a month or a few weeks before it went into effect, so i feel as if there was plenty of time for people to move and resettle.
not sure when you received the news, but at first hints and forum posts about it, maybe a need to get together (even just once) to discuss transfers sooner than later would have been beneficial.
this game seems to benefit more and more to those who “get it while the gettin’s good”.
the bounty one – that’s the one with a world-wide boss hunt? if they are champions, you are never gonna finish in what – 15 minutes? smaller guild will probably have trouble, of course, but larger guild with many non-reps or active members present at the same time might have trouble too.
i wish i could kick all my guild’s non-reppers, and make room for players that want to rep and play.
i still think it should be a guild’s separate instance instead of one where players can happily leech or join up randomly. it should not work like Dynamic Events, where players congregate for 5 minutes at a time then collect rewards and then leave. i am still hoping it is a solid GUILD experience, with only guild members.
there are enough DE’s in the world to satisfy that niche – guild bounties and map races and other guild content should be guild-only events. i didn’t join a guild to just repeat new dynamic events that can include EVERYONE on the map – i joined to have fun with the people i joined up with.
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
Really? The forum kittened “a w kward?”
yes, because you didn’t add the space between “of” and “awkward”. so it ends up censoring the wordplay of a swear word. NOTE: even putting the space between the words, is still censored, oh wells.
they should make it 3 votes, i would pray for 4 votes, so that if running with a friend +3, you still have a chance of staying. otherwise, 3 player vote will boot you and your friend.

Disconnects during dungeons, mining ore nodes, and during combat, when my skills are about to cast, the world seems to freeze for a second or 3 before it dumps me out to character selection. Also happened in fractals, leaving me dead in Lion’s Arch when reconnection occurs. Occasionally shows me as Offline on reconnect, forcing a relog anyways to resync with guild panel.
My world completion went back to 99%. also NOT COOL, because idk which WP i need to rediscover to re-complete it (since, you know, i HAD THEM ALL ALREADY). Still have the character title.
Edit: Removed my account name pic from character selection
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
updated my Eir slightly since putting a pic in the “Show Us Yer Norn” Section. Having fun hearing from other players out in the world, and especially during missions.
it’s either at fort trinity or the black citadel.
although i think the “players can drop by and help out because it happens in the open world and not instances” is a good idea, it might not help grow a small guild. players will probably tag these events like other popular dynamic events, and small guilds will continue to be small. if it works well, smaller guild i feel could use this as another recruitment tool, and make new friends.
i sense it will happen much like the current dragon events:
1) small guild, or any guild starts a guild mission, hoping to recruit new players
2) advertised or not, players show up seemingly out of nowhere to help
3) event finishes, mass of players leave, and not join guild
4) merits are collected by guild for seeing mission through to the end, and random helpers get compensated w/o connection to the hosting guild.
also to add: PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THEM PART OF DAILIES OR MONTHLIES.
someone had to hurry up and say it.
“This expanded unlock system will include new rewards like combo banners, gold find bonus, reduced waypoint costs and, of course, the missions themselves.”
REDUCED. WAYPOINT. COSTS.
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
i think the guild missions should be instanced.
i think you can decline invitations in the guild window. i found the random invites with no actual conversation prior to invite annoying
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
i hope the drop rate mimics borderlands 2.
1. Daily Kills : LOVE THIS ONE
2. Daily Dodger : I like Hyleks
3. Daily Healer : Not as bad, takes awhile because there’s an apparent cooldown between resses. if i res 2 defeated NPCs too fast, only one res will count, so i may have to do 12 or 13 resses if “speed ressing”
4. Daily Aquatic Kills : Hermit Crabs, helps Slayer Title. Underwater kills ALSO count if you are underwater, and shooting nearby LAND foes with speargun/spear, etc. if you have correct line of sight, it’s easy pickings.
5. Daily Events/veteran kills : This one’s okay, but i thought dungeon events and fractal events counted. my experience with them so far has been no, they do not count.
6. Daily Crafting : WOOD PLANX FOR DAYZ, YO.
7. Daily Gatherer : Cheaper tools and Rich nodes are the best.
8. Daily kill variety : okay, i guess
9. Daily Laurel Vendor : LAMEST THING EVER… Rename the daily to “Daily visit to Lions Arch”. < or other town hubs – does not always have to be Lion’s Arch.
Porous Bones all day in Orr. Loot tables do not like me being there.
So unfortunately, the Slayer ones can be re-achieved by just playing the game. However, The Gold Hoarder, Overkill, i hope are on the fix it list.
So while the “To clarify, I am not telling you the solution is to go out and do them all again, just that when a solution does come about you will regain those points.” statement is comforting, i THINK the Slayer points may not be given back, because i THINK by then, many may have already reclaimed some or all of them by the time a fix rolls around.
So i will wait by playing more and expect a fix to the Gold Hoarder and Overkill achievement tiers.
here’s to hoping precursors get wound in with the new “guild” quest/mission system for guild play.
the children have cooler dance moves. i want cooler dance moves (the knee one)!
are you in the same guild? you could use the guild’s bank tabs.
The trick is to fill a bowl with m&ms and every time you kill a mob you eat one. Or put a bunch of different treats in little bags and grab a bag when you kill something, Ooo I got a good treat that time. Anet isn’t going to reward you, you have to do it yourself.
take that one step further:
take lots of M&M’s, separate colors to represent drop rates for items (blue, green, yellow, red, etc). when you get say, 4 blue drops, eat 4 blue M&M’s from the pile. at the end of a gaming session, log how many of each were either eaten or left, and report drop rate data to appropriate thread.
you now have a constant snack flow of M&M’s, and you collect data for science!
i just farmed Orr events for the survivor. at first i thought it worked like Guild Wars, where it would tally at level 1 until you died. after getting defeated at level 19, i was super mad, but noticed the counter had gotten stuck. so i logged out and kept at it, and after a few hours in Orr, it pinged. to be clear, i was rolling an alt that i later deleted out of anger, so i swapped characters and went to Orr.
so i guess it starts when you enter a zone, and keeps tallying until you are defeated.
whats the max number for Giant? killing 1,000 giants sounds worse than doing 2 slayers in a row in the same day (which i have done – bat and skale).
Since rgrwng.4072 was already so kind as to put up the list of achievements that need to be fixed, I’ll just add one he seems to have missed. (If not, pardon my poor eyesight.)
Lifetime Survivor is also 499,999 rather than full.
i only put up the ones that were broke for me, some of the ones others have that are broken are not for me (for example, my lifetime survivor intact). i went through my listings 3 times to be sure. i also did not take part in Keg Brawls, or some of the other achievement paths that others have, so my list may include most, but not all.
i did go ahead and re-complete some of them, as i updated my list post. spent about 50 silver this morning traveling around before work.
thanks for the responses! i will try the hammer suggestion for massive crit’s later tonight.

I have been going through and getting the slayers done again (see above), but i wish i knew why it happened. The Gold Hoarder one was a kick in the groin for me…
My broke achievements:
NEW! World Completion: 99%, docked a single Waypoint
- I do not normally check for it, because Character Selection still displays 100%, and so does the Achievement panel in Character Selection (the World Star)

I am guessing i lost points too, but i have no way of proving, because i don’t take screenshots every night. Jumping Puzzles seem to be unchanged, which is nice.
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
yeah all my “completed” slayers from the past few months are rolled back -1
my golden achievement is no more… i now have not enough money to put back in to reclaim it, because that was the first one i did. it’s not like i can just add ONE copper to the bank to get it, it needs to be all at once, apparently. just tried adding 5 silver to the bank, did not proc title again.
i should have not been so anxious to log in this morning.
does anyone know if the points were also rolled back, as well, since they went “unfinished”?
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
i like how there’s a mini replica of the puzzle at the laser
should be able to jump across to that tomb. jump when you hit the edge of the rooftop you are standing on. you should barely make it. speed boost helps some, also.
i am still playing, hoping to get more out of the more social aspects the game tries to present. i am working on my legendary journey, and am nearly ready to start the wait for precursor.
the guild i represent with only my main has started dry up over the past 3 months, and i find comfort in playing with others outside of the united states, that are still in the guild. many issues with non-reps makes it difficult to organize things to do. since many of the members feel that this is a solo game, there really isn’t much to convince them otherwise. they seem to already have “one of everything”, while i am working on my 3rd and final alt, because i feel like there isn’t anything i have yet to see, after getting world completion on my main. this 3rd alt i have i am only doing it so i can give myself another short-term goal – to get a character with T3 human heavy armor.
i hope the new guild content coming near the end of February brings some much needed social time to my guild. if it turns out to be a let-down, i may finish my legendary and my 3rd and final alt, and hope my account isn’t compromised when i go on a break.
while i was playing my ranger and leveling, i wandered into frostgorge a few levels early, to see if i could get an XP boost to get to 80 one weekend. a guardian started following me for maybe 15 minutes. i thought he wanted to party up after the 15 minutes, so i attempted to invite them to join me. luckily, i tried to invite, because they mentioned in chat that they were about to flag me as a bot, and wandered off without apology.
i was wearing T2 Norn armor, with an Owl as my pet at the time. admittedly, i did have a shortbow, and was looking for hearts to do, and stuff to mine. while i guess i got lucky, i no longer play my ranger unless absolutely necessary, and make every attempt to not leave Lion’s Arch when logged on with it. some times i do leave, but only if i have more than 2 guild people at my side.
next time, i won’t be so lucky. thanks to that player, i am too scared to play my ranger, and have only taken it to CoF maybe 3 times in the past 4 months. i have a few alts anyways, but if i happen to catch someone on a bad day, i could lose my ele, my guardian, and 80% of my legendary materials and gifts.
thanks for the heads up! i will get going on that sometime soon.
and just to be clear, it is the combination of crafting part, and the “Discovery”?
/opendoor
/getonthefloor
/walkthedinosaur
would like the male ele dance from the first Guild Wars, as well.
ok so i think i am having trouble understanding the crafting to lv80 deal. maybe i am doing it wrong, maybe i am not as skilled as the rest. but i tried to craft to 80 over the weekend, spent about 1.5 gold, got to 100/400 artificer on an alt, but only gained xp for 1.5 levels. for my preparation for the grind to The Bifrost, my ele was already lv80, so the crafting things i did not get to experience the whole leveling to 80, starting from scratch.
do i need to stick with it more, or -
1. get crafting to 400 (max)
2. make high-tier (400?) items (spending more gold for those mats) to get the XP to get to 80
i have 10 gold sitting in my bank, and have started a guardian. i would like to craft to level 80 this time around to avoid most of the PvE, and be 80 and geared before attempting my lv10 story mission. i was using the “discovering” method at pwniversity on my ele.
find enemy arrow carts and sieges. or try to evade the flame traps in EB jump puzzle, if someone is activating them. maybe also in the pitch black section of the puzzle (has traps).
hop into cliff-side fractal, get to the scaffolding with the wind gusts. dodge through them a bunch of times, then leave, or be helpful and finish the fractal with group. you got daily dodger, and you finished a fractal. if you got extra drops, that’s a win-win (to me, anyways)
rurik’ kitten made me think of Mr. Bean
power, toughness, and vitality for me, so probably either the thackeray crest or the barradin one.
Hylek poison darts. you get 2-3 each avoid. regular Hylek mobs shoot in sequence. from my daily’s experience, the hylek dart pattern is:
shoot one dart
1 second pause
shoot one dart
1 second pause
they jump in air or wind up (obviously mad by then)
3-4 dart attack
thers a small camp with 2 hyleks near a campire, and if you get them to attack at the same time, it almost doubles the num,ber of evades
the hylek boss at Morgan’s Spiral shoots them, too. you can avoid them until you get enough, or die first (his darts seem a bit OP).

yesterday, when roaming around in Queensdale, i came up to the Hunter’s Lodge. I came in contact with Logan’s distant cousin by the moa stable, which was cool. But the cousin NPC changes every time i go there (maybe resets/changes on log out?), so the second time i went to show my guild friend, they were presented as an African NPC (the first one was white) . we ROFL’d for about 10 minutes.
also, the kids in the small cave by the river in Queensdale. there is a group of 6 or 7 kids that roleplay as members of Divinity’s reach members. their roleplaying is quite good, but the kid who plays Snaff takes the cake. Could not help but laugh at him, though i feel sorry for him. feels for Zojja, too.

i have slowed on my materials collections and gifts. i got very lucky, and got 10 clovers from the 10x recipe on my no MF% Ranger, after trying on my 25% guardian and 15% Ele. i am currently at 76/77 clovers. i still need 245 ARAH shards, 250 ectos, and 139 Elaborate totems to complete the necessary gifts.
if i received a precursor weapon TODAY, i would finally give in, purchase 5,000 gems with RL $$$, purchase the rest of the needed materials, get the shards via path 3, and complete The Bifrost. i would then leave my current guild, as it is pretty dead now, and continue playing Guild Tag-less.
of course, with a Commander Title AND a Legendary equipped, i have to prepare for the relentless player harassment that will eventually follow.
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
an ex-guild member and myself used the guild bank. we made a separate rank that we could have that only allowed us access (to avoid random access), and with mutual understanding and large enough cajones, we shared enough for the both us to get the achievement.
