also, when the event is successful, kill off the catapults that bombard the middle, even when the event is finished. using the merchant(S) there is very annoying. also it seems like if every one leaves, more risen show up after the event is over to retake the shrine. that’s cool and all, but not enough merchant time, i think. sitting there checking out the cool gear, and the temple gets retaken.
i dont have full exotics (only have exotic weapons from TP), and i already missed out it seems on getting the good stuff in a timely manner. i guess i played to casually or too slow, and missed out on some great content. kudos and grats to those who plowed through while the getting was good, and benefited (and sitting on fully decked characters).
i camp at an outpost, and draw mobs to the outpost npcs. i may not get stuff every time for kills, but it beats dying and spending silver to res IF i go down in the middle of the sea of Red.
i got to a way-point and have not deviated from it much, so yes, i do look like i am a bot but am honestly “playing”. since there are risen everywhere you go down there, there is no need for traveling to the next outpost – it’s all the same enemies. so i camp out at my favorite outpost and hope that eventually i can continue farther down on the map.
why do the catapults at the lyssa temple bombard the merchant? that temple in the middle DOES have a roof. after retaking the temple, why do the catapults still bombard players there? just kind of annoying when looking at gear for merchant, and you get slapped with poison and flown back from the merchant.
i thought zhaitan’s fight was gonna be like the other dragon fights, except with 4-5 players.
but maybe it could be changed to a dragon event, on Orr. most of the island is in need of more areas, anyways.
when i can outrun a centaur.
i hadn’t thought about the diminishing returns, as i thought i played slow enough to gain what i can. i was looking into buying gems to counter the negative returns, but then i looked at my karma, and thought “i could just go for karma armor, instead!”
well i cannot now, and it pains me to think that this may be an excuse for players to need to go to the Gem store. Chest keys used to be easy to come by, but overnight it seems like more chests drop than keys, and the keys can only be acquired (seems like) on the Gem store.
right now 50$ gets between 9-10 gold (4,000 gems). and i think you can only buy a certain amount every 24 hours, as to not spam-buy gems. would be nice to trade gold for karma, but they would probably limit that, too eventually, because then karma sets would be easy to get
in my travels, i have a few karma/xp/crafting boosters which i thought of using. i don’t think they are as good then to use if others state that the DR renders them useless. i think they should eliminate the animal potions, and drop Karma potions, which give karma, not turn me into an owl for 5 minutes. the transformation potions worked in GW1 because there was( i think) a party title or something attached. there isnt one in this game, so it is worthless as a drop. plus, being an owl doesnt make my character any stronger, because it disables my combat skills, and replaces them with not so good animal ones.

not to mention the gathering quests – those clearly can be seen on the map with the large orange circle. more heart quests should have them, too.
like in the norn areas, you get ones to “kill Svanir” and find myself walking too far out, killing 5 of them and noticing late that the 5 kills did not count.
if the gold sellers are gonna start bribing me to use their services, they need to send me more silver/gold in the message, otherwise i am not interested.
i’m kind of on my last legs here, myself – i joined a nice guild, so for about a week i set aside my time to help members’ lower alts level, or help with story stuff, etc. i offer help, and one of them asked, “why do you keep asking to help us? what’s your problem?” that kind of struck a chord with me, negatively.
was it wrong to ask in guild chat if anyone needed assistance? i mean, it’s a social game, and i might not know much about crafting or pvp, but if you want to know how to get the vista or SP, i will be nearby in passing to help out, if possible. i guess the game can be solo’d with the right mindset and skills/gear – i am very sad that i can’t go out of my way to help people in this game.
someone in the guild finally took my offer, and all day sunday, we played for hours together, and it was amazing.
i will probably stop playing once i get my bearings on my Elementalist – i am going for armor sets right now, and probably will stop once i attain them, and wait for new content to arrive.
besides Events and daily grinds for dungeons and such, it seems like solo play is prominent in PvE. maybe someday i will just leave the guild and go back to true solo play. i seemed to be more helpful to random players when not attached to a guild.

i try my best to res other players when i come across them, and i see many others do, as well. maybe, along with the experience (XP) amount we gain for ressing, why not add some Karma to that?
at least then you can get some extra on the side just for helping other players, instead of running past or away from them. might also relieve some traveling costs between way points – because some one might just happen to show up that wants 10 karma (or w/e amount). you don’t pay the 1 silver to teleport to WP, and the resser gets Karma points . maybe even as far as – downed state res = 15 karma, while from death state = 20 points multiple ressers on a single person maybe divides the amount across players, so 3 ressers on a single person like during events or dungeons) will still benefit.
unless ressing gets nerfed or removed, i see this as a positive for casual players. of course, you can still gain them from the existing ways. with so many other ways to get XP, many probably just run past or ignore ressing other players.
stupid idea? probably. i would res-farm a zone for karma on the side for sure, but it would be getting players on their feet to continue on with what they are doing. res farming may be more prominent in the lower level areas, but it could be a life saver in the higher areas and dungeons.

if implemented, maybe there can be a gold sink for a PKer’s Handbook. you can buy it for 60 Gold at merchants or trainers, and it will “unlock” your PvE status to this world PvP/PK mode, allowing people to gun for you when they feel like it. thus, players that don’t like it need not buy it. maybe even make it a Gem store item, for 10 Gems. your name will be a different color than everyone else’s, and regular PvE players would be able to go after you (as well as other PK’ers). Karma can be awarded off of PKs, as well for an interesting journey.
or just add it to the commander title, so everyone knows where they are at anytime on the map.
we don’t need mounts, because Elementalists outrun centaurs. Doesn’t get any faster than that..unless it is undead/Risen.
or maybe cycle saying randomly. the elementalist, for example:
“Too fast. Too Furious. chuckle "
“Speed is of the Essence.”
“OOh! So Fast.”
“OH SNAP! V-Tec Just Kicked In!”
also, if you do happen to outrun a centaur, as soon as the centaur breaks aggro and rubberbands back to its spot, my character does the Usain Bolt pose.
i think just a few more random quotes would be cool.
gw2cartographers is how i finished cleaning up the explorable areas. the map is nice, but you do have to keep switching to it and count all the points ma few times trying to figure out which ones are missing. i bought the strategy guide, and some of the hearts and skill points were in different areas in the map flipper calendar thing.
following the cartographer map got me to my 92%…now i just need to get the WvW and dungeons, i think.
i am hoping for a TexMod sometime in the future. an overlay would be helpful for me to pick out things i still need to work on.
i also wish for a world map window that displays completeness of a zone when i hover my mouse over it, so i don’t have to travel into a zone and read the loading screen.
i think NPCs get special treatment with armors and dyes, as they are special characters. i was looking for the same outfit Zojja has, but i cannot find it. i think its so that NPCs can be distinguishable from regular players.
that screenshot must have been taken on a good day – i NEVER have it that easy with my ele there. i always see way more red and Risen than in that picture. Kudos for having a group, though.
make a dragon version of that large shark boss. i was swimming around its area when the DE started, and when i looked down from the water surface, i wet myself and swam back to shore.
hybrid dragon shark would win. it would also have a laser on top of its head.
well if the dead enemies stayed on the ground, navigating those areas would be worse, especially if we could not clip through them, or jump over the pile of bodies left by the last DE.
i summon things in hopes that they tank enough for me to do what i need to do for damage. they do okay, but then after 60 seconds, they die off, so i have to waiting to charge up for the next battle while the Risen i just killed respawn.
as for weapon skills, not until i talked with another ele about skill point tips, that the hammer is actually pretty fun. i bought all the skills but never used the conjures before.
Underwater Vortex transformation(?) doesn’t show for me. i don’t see my character or any effects.
oh that’s what those are…i thought they updated the party dots – when in a party, you get a blue dot, as well, though i guess it looks different. i spent 40 silver following one, thinking it was my leveling buddy, who was in my party.
i find the current party member dot really difficult to find when fully zoomed out of the world map. it should be larger, and feature a customizable icon.
i wanted to actually shoot at multiple dragons on the boat. i mean, there’s lots of cannons, but there is no real chance until the end to use them. i only did the mission once, but most of it was fighting on the smaller deck, with AOE poison covering most of it at any time.
i hopped into the turret, but there was nothing to shoot at. and being hit while in turret mode.
Correct me if i am wrong, but Kormir, i think, became a god in Nightfall. maybe her presence will be more common in the next expansions, but as an ele, i was surprised i could choose Kormir as a deity, but i only get a condition removal skill that removes 3 conditions.
so maybe because of her ascension to a god only happened in Elona, of course it would make sense that she does not show up at all in this game at the moment.
is that all? this may be more of a game play question, and for that, i am sorry. Just seemed weird that after finishing Nightfall, all i got was a condition removal with her name on it.
i think that you cannot spell horrible with out Orr.
While my ele is a work in progress, reading the forums, it seems i have some learning to do with my current main character. I am also trying out a guardian, to see if it fits my play style better, but do not want to completely drop my ele.
Normally i would just run through a zone to travel, but with the quick respawn rates and broken skillpoints, it’s a chore to run around from the safety of outposts. of course, i could just fight my way there each time, but i am currently stranded in Orr, next to my personal story marker, with 34 copper in tow. i can get some silver to start getting around, but with the rest of the maps/areas nicely paced, you hit the sea of red names. most zones have their walk paths cleared and devoid of enemies, thus it shows that “staying on the path” won’t lead to any trouble. but In Orr, there is not set path, and just hope that another player has aggro to give that window of opportunity to move on with ease.
my character shouts “i can outrun a centaur!” when i use my air attunement to run around Orr. however, Risen seem to be faster than Centaurs, and this seems a bit unblanced to me. the damage might be okay, since they are lv80 undead, but do they have to be able to outrun me? just getting hit automatically puts my ele into “combat speed” which allows the risen to catchup at fast speeds…
“be more careful with aggro, then” they may say, but when there’s always an enemy in your sights, it doesn’t hold much as a useful strategy, because you are always going to aggro something.
world vs world counts, as well? aw man, i thought i could get by with just PvE stuff…and that pvp was a separate thing. i have yet to complete any dungeons, so maybe i need those too, but for me, i am 3 bugged skill points from completing the zones (not the dungeons or pvp stuff)
crud.
i died when i jumped from that altitude off the boat after the event, so i can only assume (since the Big Z was not wearing any armor) that he suffered worse than me.

I was able to get the set’s name after some googling and a few hours, then wiki’d it on the site.
norn males look like Space Marines when fully decked out. i hope that was not intentional design.
yeah i want this implemented. i finally finished the low level (50-60) armor for my ele, and since it doesn’t do level 80 any good, it would be nice to wear it, and not junk it.
+1 to badonk-a-donk. my ele looks great, but yeah the ankles are weird – especially when wearing certain boots. right now my ele has elf-like boots on, and it seems awkward when running around towns and zones.
make it so that 100% = free (or discounted) WP costs. when you FIRST enter a zone, the progress is 0%. as you travel within the area doing all the hearts/vistas/POIs, the percentage you get goes towards how free it is.
if only doing karma hearts, and nothing else, then your discount % would reflect your commitment to that area. then there might be something to work towards.
Thanks to the wiki, i finally found what armor i was going for in the first place. Too late though, as the set is for levels 50-60. I am level 80, and would like to know where to re-acquire the same set (if available at my level) for level 80s. i saw on the wiki it was a pvp set, but i do not think that i can use pvp armor in pve.
Pic related, i picked up the lv56 set this morning. The armor is “Stately”, and are “-of Hoelbrak”.
i also wanted to transmute this armor set (which is green) to change the look of my gold armor pieces that i am currently armed with. i have been receiving quite a few BASIC transmuting stones, but nothing higher. I tried to use the basic ones, but did not work – though both sets are Light armor.
which stones do i need to do this (use lv56 skin to apply to level 80 gear)?
i am buying for looks. though i wish they had better stats, this idea will never be considered, and i am okay with that now. i am 3/6 pieces (half way), and it’s been an adventure getting gold for it.
i ROFL’d when he hit the flying boat the second time, after my party hopped onto the way better “logan lives and got this new ride for us in the nick of time” boat.
i mean really? all them cannons, including the “Main Gun” was hilarious.
he shows up, cripples our current airship. that part was cool. so we jumped on Logan’s new ride, then he swipes that one, as well, seemingly right after we get aboard. Too funny.
when Zaitan went down, i thought i was gonna spawn in his cave, and admire a HUGE DRAGON-THEMED CHEST. That did not happen, and the loot was mediocre.

i chose to play as an elementalist for my main character, though it seems all classes are secondary /Mo, because everyone can heal themselves (i assume). they took the strictly monk class out and distributed its class skills across the other characters.
changing classes should just require a re-roll.
NPC animals (deer, bears, etc.) should not have skills attached to them. nothing more embarrassing than running from deer or bears, and watching players laugh at me when the animals catch up.
i think at level 80, all mobs (besides in Orr/Cursed Shore) should be at yellow status. the aggro level of some mobs is insane, i think. try all i want to avoid, then aggro-ing something else is disappointing.
i like the idea of surveying the gaming community – i liked when during the beta, after every quest, they asked me about it and i could give them some opinion on it. at least it would help compile some of the common issues.
since the launch, it has been pretty quiet in game, aside from the gold sellers and spam emails.
It is on the Henge of Denravi server
<3 Help the Priory’s excavation of the ruins.
Protect and repair golems gathering artifacts and put any artifacts you find in storage crates
There are no golems in the area to interact with. This is the last heart that i need before moving on to another area.
aggro with Staff #1 fireball
run to target, or wait for them to be in decent range
circle target so they don’t hit me, hoping not to aggro additional heat
spam Staff #3, using Staff #4 for quick getaways
maybe i will summom 2 fire elementals, but the long recharge times make me hafta choose
i wish more groups take Ele’s (but maybe i just don’t see it happen) – my first character in this game is my ele, and i hate to see it get no action. If these PUGs are being selective about classes to roll with in dungeons for any reason, defeat the purpose of the class or game entirely, kind of like GW 1 (have to be a specific character spec to roll with group). i thought that in GW2 this was not as prevalent, but now i have been in Orr for 1.5 weeks, and level 80 for maybe 4-5 days, and i might be feeling the pinch soon.
if other players are going to start hating on ele’s because we cant effectively survive situations, then not take them, the ele class has been defeated. i can’t learn to play well with others if they don’t give me the chances for me to learn how to play. “well, then solo dungeons first” they might say – that isn’t going to help me any, is it? at least in guild wars 1 i could hench a mission or something to get the idea on how to play, then go group, but i think that the lv80 content restricts ele’s a bit much.
class discrimination i think is going to be the norm if classes don’t get fixed/balanced/etc.
i am simple-minded right now, since i have only been level 80 for 4 days. I do not pvp, so yes, i would be missing out on all that jazz, but yes, that’s my endgame answer (for me).
besides, all the other problems in the game are already being voiced – i just want my armor!
i think if the waypoints are in the same zone, it should be free with 100%. going from the middle of FrostGorge to Say Lions Arch in one move should be discounted by 50%.
so within a zone it should be free, leaving the zone to another one should be discounted somewhat. i would then port freely to the nearest WP to my destination and gladly walk through to the other side. that would solve getting downed next to a waypoint, i think.
please don’t make the bot bother me. i have enough trouble while in combat stayin’ alive, random golem spawn to stop me will be the death of my Guild Wars 2 career.
