yeah i had accumulated over 50 chests so far, and wondered where all the keys were at. looked them up on the TP, and was shocked that 5/125 deal. that is expensive. maybe i will just give them away, or something.
i think it is more for cosmetic looks. the backpack (which i own) can show your guild’s emblem on it for easy identification. the back brace does not.
it may also be simply: it’s a guild-based item. if you like your guild and want to represent it around Tyria, it’s nice flair to have. rings you cannot see anyways, but don’t actively show your affiliation (because you cannot see them).
So it’s a guild wars 1 Hard Mode for Guild Wars 2?
if this mode did not downscale, and gave way better rewards for completion, i would be okay with this. otherwise, it sounds like a highly-detailed respsc option.
i am on Henge, and i am karma farming in Orr. i think many players are, too. we have been losing WvW lately. so maybe they all moved to the current server winner for action.
needs a diablo 3 style of its “Nephalum buff”. increases magic find up[ to a certain percentage via kills, until you swap skills in combat or zone. might need to be tweaked for elementalists.
i was selling them on the TP, but after getting 3 of the same rares after a few events, i decided i would keep a few of them in storage, in case i need quick money or roll a character that is unsuitable to grind. my main gets the required gear for second character, and the second character doesn’t feel like grinding its toosh off.
might even be able to get a nice rare set going for my next character (whichever i choose)
isn’t the amount of xp at lv80 like 250,000 experience?
Definitely AoE target indicator. pushing the skill rapidly twice in a row will cast it at your character’s position, i think.
CoffeeShtoun….. shhhh don’t give them another idea of a gold sink in the game they have plenty of those already
i think maybe they meant like in Guild Wars 1 style of henchmen. i mean this would be nice, because you did kill Zhaitan, and none of the NPCs in Orr seem to recognize you for your achievement.
If you took part in the Vigil storyline, and shot down Zhaitan, a few vigil lackeys can be beneficial, as a special elite summon, or something. it could be like those summoning stones from Guild Wars 1 (summon fire imp or assassin).
this could lead to new “relevant” content.
Dat Winterknell Maze is horrible. especially getting aggro on the other sides of walls.
they must be on a 15 second timer, there. doing the Skill point challenge was difficult if going solo. that fish head in front of the skill point is brutal, along with the spawning mobs
also, how about, when players reach level 80, make all mobs in all of Tyria Yellow-status (hostile, though will aggro if attacked). those wishing to travel in high-spawn rated areas can do so without fuss. those who need the experience and wish to do combat can. it would surely be another minor benefit to being 80. then maybe this new “tactical” approach to the combat can begin.
also, undead gorilla cripple is way, WAY too long (Historian Escort + Veteran gorilla).

is it the AoE skills? activating the skill puts a target area for AoE placement.
God Kama armor should make you look like the god it represents (example: melandru karma armor makes you look like melandru).
i am going for the Dwayna karma god set, but i am hoping i grow to like the style choice before i finish the set in the next few weeks.
i do not like the dungeon armors at all, myself. i went into CoF, and AC a few times with guild friends, but the armor styles just don’t look that great for my character. i feel like my ele could be represented better.
attempted a Guild Wars 1 survivor character – failed at level 19. not the experience title, but the “No Deaths” one. without crafting my way to the top.
yes. backing up DAT File will quickly reinstall the game.
I do not use my extra skill points, hoping that if the level cap is raised, the Skill points will reconvert to exp, allowing me to gain some levels when i log in to play.
Armorsmith [Merchant] every 5 levels. All the way to 80.
Now i roll T3 Human, until i get my karma set for d/d setup
i thought the events would elaborate on the Factions/Cantha situation, without the need to “purchase” outposts/towns. In Factions, guilds/alliances purchased towns to own until out-bought.
i thought more of the dynamic events did this – like if failing to recapture the skritt cave city, they would be pushed outside around the surrounding outposts, waiting for the next event to retake the cave.
it seems like this kind of shows in the 70-80 levels, when you have to constantly retake areas and god shrines, but it would have been nice to see more of it in earlier levels – the contesting/contested waypoint’s thing. would have been perfect for the Icebroods(?)/Svanir to overtake half the area, and players had to push their line back to their homestead, in order to get those contested areas explored and completed.
in short, it should work like factions, with DE’s taking center stage for that.
i hope to one day go back to the spiral place in Caledon Forest – i need to finish the 2 jumping puzzles there, and the center plant thing allows me to do so.
The only 2 sets i like are the Light T3 armor for Humans and the Karma armor “Stately” set. both for elementalist.
i could also like Eir’s armor (norn T3 wolf), but the top two get my attention the most. dungeon armor doesn’t look good to me, at all.
some guild members pinged different armor sets, where, even though i am an ele, i can preview heavy armor. some of what i previewed looked sweet. i wish the armor class wasn’t locked for professions. Glass cannons with heavy armor might have better survivability, or something.
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
if not questing with guild members, i am usually soloing in Cursed Shore, farming karma and selling Rare dropped items on the TP.
besides the “dynamic” events, which happen on some kind of timed/success rotation (especially around the Penitent Path, i think it’s called), most of the time it’s lonely and devoid of group play outside of PvP/World v. World. You can get just about anywhere by taking a bit more time by yourself than with a group, but is it worth the 60$? i would say so.
i am going for exotics now on my one character, as i have explored 94% of the map, already. i should go back and finish exploring World versus World and dungeons, but my skill level is not “up to par”, yet.
I do not have a major reason to re-roll – my ele has been everywhere in Tyria (except dungeons and Realms) so i kind of saw all of it once already. I will stick with it for awhile longer if i can. maybe by then new content will peak my interest. I am trying to re-roll 2 new characters, but i can’t bring myself to enjoy it a second or third time through.
i think the initial “WHOA Factor” has subsided, and i am just stalling myself from leaving.

But players can just get the Commander Title. that blue player marker is a lot better than the regular party dot, which is also blue. can also be easier seen than the regular party dot.
i would like a colored aura for each title i achieve. be cool as an ele to roam with some kind of cool Super Saiyan aura.
I did Scavenger’s Chasm 3 times over 9 days (every 3rd day), and still did not score anything remotely useful. i always get stuff i cannot use (not the right profession), sadly.
if the puzzles aren’t too bad i don’t mind going through them again. Wayfarer’s in Sharkmaw/Lions Arch was the best one i have ever completed. I think the other puzzles do not compare.
there’s a facebook page?
oh well. i thought this official forum was supposed to be the news bringer for me. or even the Wiki.
maybe by mini games they meant the events system?
Divinity’s Reach has the animal exhibit, the Bar, and a merry-go-round i can’t ride. i did the animal exhibit (too short, though interesting) the bar was so-so (it was empty), and the merry-go-round was not interactable.
the asurans have Golem Chess, which i think is a mini game.
let me trade or convert my Skill Points for Karma.
i got one last night, actually. but chat has been pretty devoid of gold spamming, lately.
i follow the Orr-Zerg when needed, because it’s better traveling for the auto-protection than by myself. some outposts have bots – which is okay i suppose for the extra protection when the Risen try to overtake the outpost. i find myself making more gold in Orr than i had previously – alone and weak – because i am not downed as much with the extra protection. i am still alone and weak, but the extra player trains and botted outposts protect me from the mess that is Orr.
also, game should not scale down for 70+ to 80 levels. only less than 70 zones. survivability may then be up some percentage.
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
they should also remove “combat speed”. all the applied buffs in the game go away once you get tagged by accidental aggro. if they apply cripple, fine. poison/bleeding should just do those things, not slow me down -50% normal speed. getting hit by mob axe is okay, but should not lower my speed. In Orr, you are just better off with a full group so you can get everywhere.
used ele fire skills to illuminate the area, and jumped while it lasted.
solution below (that’s my ele). my guild had a blast with this one. i wish the rest of the puzzles were this fun. especially the pirate theme.
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
Probably should also add that we are located on the Henge of Denravi server
In Orr, the amount of XP is nice for events, but the Karma does seem a bit low. at level 80, i heard you need skill points to craft, which is cool and useful for those who keep leveling. but 12,755 xp for an escort seems like too much xp sometimes.
maybe raise the karma amount, and lower the xp amount. the 1 silver per event is okay (its better than nothing) though in reality i wish it was more. shoving xp in everyone’s face is nice, but at level 80, it doesn’t seem like we need all that extra. Just raise the karma amount to hurry players along. the faster they get it, the faster they leave zones to go do something else. that would work for me, anyways. the sooner i get to where i want to be, the sooner i can move along.
i may camp at the Penitent Path for 2 hours a night, but i do make an effort to help my guild mates around the world. but then i always go back to the tunnel for the quickest boosts.
when i finally get my exotic Dwayna armor, i will then move on to other things, like maybe PvP.
If Orr is hard, i cannot imagine the expansion zones if they come out. ring of fire = 4x Orr? i am not down with that.
i have been camping out at the penitent path for 3 weeks now, because i need karma for armor and it’s oddly the safest outpost i can reach with all the bot circles and other karma farming players. it also is the closest to the TP outpost (which is bugged this morning before i left for work)
Orr is definitely for party play. I hope the rest of my guild gets to Orr, so i can move on and see the rest of it.

i do not see many LFGs in chat, lately. however, i have been receiving numerous random party invites. the invitations come without warning, as i check the chat to be sure they were not asking me beforehand, and i decline them, because it’s too random.
are they trying to test me somehow for being a bot? if i decline, will i be reported for something? and they don’t really say anything or whisper me, and just expect me to accept their random invites? maybe they just really wanna party up with me randomly for awhile. but not letting me know whats up is annoying.
maybe i will accept an invite tonight if i get one, and see where it goes.

a guild i joined is very play-oriented. yesterday i spent maybe 14 hours straight with a small group of guild players, and we rolled events and helped each other discover way points and areas.
going solo kind of sucks now, due to the botting and not being able to kill anything for myself because the amount of bots take down veterans and champions with such ease. watching a veteran go down in less than 40 seconds by a mob of bots makes me think that my exotic items just are not worth it. and that makes me sad.
i also do not like that some of the waypoints, vistas, and points of interests located in the PvP or WvW are reuired to get 100% map completion. i was disappointed that i got to 93%, cleaned up all the maps and am sitting at 94%, because i finally got into world versus world, and walked around for an hour and a half. only when i left i realized the 1% i got was from those points inside. why are pvp worlds required for exploration? that is a letdown for me.

Here is an updated version of my Ele – finally was able to get the dyes i needed to replicate the vendors. as close as i can get, though their shades must be a bit different.
sync-idle ftw
– Tier 3 Cultural, with Helmet, but the hairstyle hides it almost completely.
i want to learn to play like the OP. Never gonna give up my ele, either! i unfortunately am still getting used to the dodge and the whole “i can move while casting most skills” concept.
it’s my first character, which i created so that i could learn the game so that when i start consecutive characters, the game progressively comes to me easier, i guess.
Male Ele’s should be able to dance like Rick Astley.
1. Were you satisfied with the Guild Wars 2 launch and your first week of play?
YES, until the first set of bans(?) came out, and my account was locked for 12 days without reason) after the 3 day head-start, despite being level 2, and had just spawned in metrica province with 24 copper in my pocket. When i finally regained access, it had been 14 days. So first week was non-existant for me. up until the large surge of botting, it has been a fun experience, though.
2. As of today, do you think ArenaNet has done a good job of taking care of bugs, communicating with their customer base and making most players happy?
Some skill points were broken for me for a few weeks. Some events in Fireheart still are broken, i think, so if they don’t plan on fixing things, it’s a one-handed way of keeping players coming back, even if only to complete them finally…
3. Are you still recommending Guild Wars 2 to friends?
I did for the first week (while my account was closed, in hopes that when my account was freed up, they would be waiting for me), but since then, not at all.
4. If no new content has been released will you still be playing Guild Wars 2 six months from now?
Possibly. I want to help other players when possible, though on Henge of Denravi, it might be a lost cause. I will play for awhile, but maybe put it under the heat lamp while i go play Assassin’s Creed, or something.
5. Overall would you say Guild Wars 2 delivers as the game you envisioned it to be?
many of the anti-farming stuff and botting started while i was still in the 70-80 level range, so i did not know of many changes until searching the forums for answers and things to read. I have to say, compared to how the game is currently (meta?), the first 2-3 weeks were perfect and full of bliss. lots of new players, some already in Orr and enjoying themselves – no complaining, and lots of positive vibe in chat. but now the wall of anti-anything hits, and it’s probably bugging other players. i am starting to feel the burn of the zerging going on, and my connection with the in game community is waning.
chat has been reduced in some areas to politics and other childish banter (though funny to read). some of the chat i like to read along with, and spend my game time idling in outposts reading the chatter, because it seems more interesting to me than killing Risen for an hour. I could go to WvW, but on Henge, the queues are full (maybe its peak hours?) and i am not really a PvP person. helping lowbies is fine, but when i attempt dungeons with guild mates, my lack of skill ends up burning all my silver, so i am stranded in Orr scraping by to be able to leave. to hit up the trading post. i could go to the one in Cursed Shore, but it is always nice to way point OUT of Orr, even if for 10 minutes.
i think changes to the game are being made, but too fast for me to keep up. one minute, i am doing just good enough to survive out in Tyria, next day, maybe not so much luck with that. it is a very confusing time for me, and i wish the changes would slow down for everyone to feel what is changing as they play.
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
I don’t think i have ever seen Jormag. i always pass by there, and the cannons shoot the ground a short distance away, but i see nothing.
i just try not to kill so much in those events. as an ele, i can just pop healing rings and breath to people. i think that helps more than kill stealing. then i could practice healing skills for later.
sometimes i will help weaken the boss to a low percentage, then run away and let them finish it off. speeds up the event maybe for those low level players.
I tried again this morning but still received the “Card Approval Failed” message.
After buying up 400$ in Gems in September, it is a nice way of saying “slow your roll, bro”. i really should not be spending so much on this game, anyways, now that i think about it. I just hope the money they get from me is being used for good and not evil.
if it will be fixed this weekend, i think i will be able to wait a bit more. However, i will take some time to scrounge up some extra cash.
i find that if you wait between postings for several seconds between, you can post quite a bit before “error”.
i have only bought them through the in game UI, but it seems like when i buy the 4k gems pack for 50$, i can only buy it once every 24 hours. maybe because i max it out (the daily limit).
Endgame to me would be having best armor i can get for or at my level, and then being able to use my knowledge (if any gained during my travels) to help guild members or others reach their goals.
i could use my lv80 character to help others complete difficult quests and bosses, and prolong my life in the game until there are no more people to help out or i just get bored.
i like helping people, but when they come back and ask “why do you always ask to help players?” that is discouraging to me. i thought it was a grouping game, but many players are able to ride solo, with as much success. so i feel in a weird spot
Elementalists – 15% faster wielding a dagger (arcane trait), or Air Signet (5% faster for every 10 seconds moving – up to 25% faster speed)
i think ride the lightning is a good speed skill too. saw an ele use it to fly past a mob and continue on – it was so cool to see!
i tried to purchase 8k Gems yesterday, but after buying the first 4k, it locked me out. before that, maybe sunday or monday, i tried to buy 8k Gems in one go (2 purchases after one another) and could not complete the second one (credit card failed).
so i thin kit is on a 24-hour timer. buy gems at 7am, cannot buy until 7am the next day, because i bought 4k gems, went to work for 10 hours, then came back and i still could not get more until the next morning. hope this helps.
Risen. or the Centaurs. A harpy would be cool too, but we could not really fly, but i like to play as the Koda (bear peoples)
i think i might have spent about 400$ so far just to try to catch up to them bots there. i walked into the mob hoping for some kills recently, and i get no damage in before they drop dead. same with the other end of the tunnel. i think there’s a ranger that haphazardly lays traps under the bridge to the south, catching all the spiders and laying waste to them before my ele gets a fireball there.
400$ worth of gear and runes (so far), and i still cannot out-dmage a bot? that’s insane.
just so ANet knows, attached is my confirmation of Gem purchases for 400$ USD of Gems to acquire what i have now in hopes of out-damaging bots and being able to enjoy some events and other areas. i am not selling gold, and i understand that there is some kind of limit per 24 hours (because i tried to buy 8k gems yesterday, and it failed), as to maybe not seem like i was spending US dollars to resell it to players or something (if that makes sense).
at 50$ USD for 9-10 Gold at current conversion prices, that’s a lot of gold BOUGHT through the use of gems. the hidden systems might be joyously cheering for me to buy more gems, but dangit i think i see more bots now than say, 2 weeks ago. i probably have put way more money into this gold-sinking game than i should have, but i hope that one day when i finally have all the gear i need to be able to play, i would be able to enjoy this game and not need to spend another dollar with what i have. pay 2 win was not what i thought about when i started my Guild Wars 2 career – now it seems like with all the unclarified DR systems, game bugs (SP’s and events) to maybe keep people coming back (because they want to clear the zones eventually), and other limitations, the problem sounds a lot like combating piracy, or something. i did not think about paying to win until i made my first gem purchase, but it still irks me to think that my characters gear still isn’t the edge i need to overcome the current pitfalls.
i am sure many other players will think i am stupid for buying gems in the first place, but even if bots are geared low, they seem to have the strength of 3-4 characters, and the timing of a lighting bolt to pull off such amounts of damage to mobs versus legit players. i will still continue to work on gear that might give me the eventual edge i need to out-damage them and enjoy my game, but after that, i am not really sure.
sorry if this is in the wrong thread, but after reading some more, i thought i should just post this while i could think about it and get it off my mind.
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
they could make mountable transportation another type of event. maybe those escort things.
Objective: Protect your transpiration until it arrives at it’s destination.
you could pay maybe 10 copper, catch a ride! (as said by scooter in Borderlands), and protect it as it travels. longer distance travels would have you on the transport for longer periods of time, so players will invest in distance, while being able to protect the ride from enemies. it would also make various stops near way points or outposts, where players that paid x-amount can get off and be on their way.
once paid for your trip, you cannot get off, forcing players to stay on until their stop.
don’t want to pay 1 silver or more to travel? pay maybe 50 copper, and enjoy a slower (but event-able) experience, while earning something (like small amounts of karma per kill), and when you get off the bus, you get that total earned during the event. of course, there might be availability problems, but even the buses come around every 30 minutes to an hour. makes them a rare occurrence, yet fun and random paths can make it interesting, as well.
Caravan Oxen Bus,ride through Orr, anyone? trains can even be unique to the areas – asurans get hovercars, swamp lands get hover boats, charr and humans get trains, and norn areas get oxen and maybe wooden wagon made of HUGE hollowed out trees.
more content for everyone!
