<<<<< Commander PvE Scrubber here.
while i still hate the idea of the JP’s and map exploration in Eternal Battlegrounds, unfortunately, it is the quickest way for me to get my 500 badges towards my legendary right now. I zerg’d for 3 hours over the weekend (actually playing), and only received ONE Badge when i decided to wall cannon camp (actually playing) for an additional 2 hours.
i do appreciate the helpful mesmers for the free portals, and as soon as i get my 500 badges (260 more to go), i would gladly turn tail and never go back to World Vs. World again…unless i needed another 500 for another legendary. i just wish by then the system for more badges presents itself, and simplifies their acquisition rates/methods. Map completion yielded my first 10 badges (good start).
i am currently getting 14-15 badges per 80 character i have, every other night. I have 3 level 80s, and a low level alt that only gets 2-3 badges. i just wished the puzzle reset when the dailies reset.

i am currently stuck at lv21, but have only been kicked once, because it was my fault. apparently, during the cliff side fractal, i was “doing too much damage for the hammer bearer” and they rage-quitted with whiny QQ’s.
as helpful as the OP seems to be, maybe take a hint and just be quiet. i usually ask stuff like, “are we using wheel or pull to door?”, and leave it at that if i get no response. it’s a bit selfish to not help others in your situation, so maybe with enough of a lack of hand-holding, maybe the troubled player will wise up and learn a bit, especially since it would benefit them on later levels.
i started off badly for sure – i underestimated the difficulty, but picked up and just kept doing the fractals. i still get downed/high death counts, but i can at least remember what usually happens (mob spawn, puzzle solution, etc) – just enough to get by and not look like a total n00b. maybe i am just lucky, but i try to learn from mistakes as quickly possible. i try to learn a dungeon in 3 tries, otherwise, forget it. with the certain rotation of certain fractals, it should just come naturally after several times.
yeah it seems SBI has cleared out in the past few hours. Been looking for fractal group, and i have had no such luck since coming back from dinner. there is noticeably less lag in Lion’s Arch right now, and i suspect many players are jumping ship, as to regroup for free while the option is available. i am in the same guild as Siliconmana (at the moment), and i hope that my guild leaders come back on to decide our guild’s fate soon.
i sure am going to miss all the fun players in SBI. I do already, and there seem to be only a handful left around, until they possibly move to new homes.

why not just make skills different in the different game modes? like in Guild wars 1, when you entered pvp, the skills changed or behaved differently in function. why not just change skills based on game mode or type?
“LFG Arah for all paths, fully Ascended Elites only! NO NUBS”
^ what i am afraid of because i need my ARAH tokens for my legendary soon. ascended as a requirement is coming, and it will be ugly.
my main is an ele and i am scared. i aoe in wvw because i cant see anything, so i just guess most of the time. i still dont get any badges, but aoe was a good answer to the culling, and i want it to stay that way. with culling in place, targeting become difficult to impossible, since you can only see several opposing players at one time. so popping aoe on a inviso-zerg was the great balance, i think.
man, i finally got the hang of casting AOEs earlier to hit more stuff (I AM LEARNING TO PLAY) and now it is going to be nerfed? i think ele’s are all about aoe, anyways, aren’t they? why not give them more HP buffs, and increase effectiveness of healing skills, or change the cool downs on their healing skills. i only heal for 5k every 25-30 seconds, and i usually fall before using it again. sitting on 1956 toughness, 2000 power, and 1500 Vitality.
i learn to play more (because the community says i should) and now my newfound knowledge is worthless soon. WTH!>?
“No waypoint rez use in dungeons until the whole party wipes. It seemed pretty clear to me, though I don’t know if maybe I missed something? It’s to prevent people from just WPing as soon as they die and running at the boss mindlessly without any actual tactic. Party wipe >WP > regroup is what they’re going for.”
then the boss will reset! that’s not cool. being able to get back in time to finish the boss off is very satisfying if a group makes it back in time to do so. obviously they want the bosses to reset more often, as tough or cheap as some of them are.
idk i thought boss-zerging was a valid tactic to keep them from resetting.
maybe have it cost 5-10$ (reasonable?) and you get a character of your choice restored (in case you like your main). not all of them, just one. that way players “buying” back in would have one character to play with. all that extra gear and soulbound stuff the character cannot use has to be an eyesore upon returning.
or, fine players with in game gold and silver, and if they don’t have enough, they have to pay 5-10$ for access. or just take the items away. if the exploit happens because of some crafting material, just remove said materials from account and fine them a few silver.
i think the idea behind “playing safe” rings well with highly geared or “perceived wealthy” players – the more you have, the more you probably lose should you get banned, thus kind of making players play legitimately, out of some kind of fear of losing everything overnight.

i have 3 level 80s – light armor, medium armor, and heavy armor class. all i needed to fulfill my leveling commitments. after my first character, the process of leveling was significantly easier the second, and then the third times going through.
my first character i took my time. i originally had planned to just have a single character, and not branch out to another alt character. when the DR hit last year, i made a second character to combat it as best i could by switching characters (whether or not it helped, idk). when leveling my second character, i saw Eir Stegalkin, and thought, “i want a character to look like her!” so i rolled a ranger (third character). however, as the leveling got faster, i started to become bored with the same terrain, events, npcs while leveling my alts.
by now i had a full-time main, a farming character for dungeons (guardian for higher survivability) and a ranger for hand-me-down equipment/bags/boxes/dyes. so far this system has worked fine, as i can park my alts in different locations for Slayer achievements, or some added variety.
i currently have no plans (or wishes) to roll a 4th alt. There isn’t much else for my possible other new characters to see. my current focus is the legendary weapon i hope to have eventually, and have just acquired my second fractals ring for my main character. So fractals and legendaries take up my time, as well as helping some interested guild peoples get through fractals to catch them up to play together. i still do dailies and attempt the monthlies, but besides these, i still need to figure out how i am going to get into arah’s dungeon as a noob so i can get my 500 shards, and world vs. world to get my 460 left badges.
i also found that levels 1-30 are fun, but the journey from 30-60 i found very uninteresting, maybe because while it isn’t the halfway mark (lv40), if not actively going out of my way to level in certain areas, leveling becomes tedious and slow (or hitting all of the 30-60 zones seems like too much). however, 60-80 picks right back up, as the maps and quests start to re-converge towards the straits of devastation, and i think, “wow! only 20 more levels – it’s like the home stretch to 80!” and the grand feeling of leveling and readiness to acquire appropriate gear or finish the storylines carries me the rest of the way.

I hope they add Mystic Clovers and WvW Badges to that crown item list. keeps scrubbers like myself out of WvW and allowing people who actually want to fight to do so.
i stand around in Lion’s Arch these days, because of Fractals and storage/merchant availability.
also end up in LA because leaving WvW doesn’t put me back out in the world (if i queued up in Fireheart Rise, entered WvW, leaving goes back to LA) where i entered from.
maybe they should just add the checkboxes to all pieces – similar to the helm, shoulder pads and back piece.
maybe someone should create a GWLFRes website….
’shopped by me.
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
it should provide ample chopper support for players, instead of hovering.
do you have enough in game gold to buy black lion kits with gems? you can convert gold>gems if not wanting to spend RL monies.
if you can afford to buy ecto at current prices, you could do that.
i want in, but i am on stormbluff isle. i have the furniture tonic.
i try to make new friends, but just end up getting kicked from parties and hearing about how “your commander – go and wvw – nub” kind of negative harassment. i don’t even have my title ON (i leave my party UI at disbanded) so my icon does not show up on the map, but it must put the boon/buff icon on other players’ UI, though.
joined some random PUGs for fractals this week and players kept restarting the dungeon set because they didn’t like the first random choice, and kept returning hopefully to get the one they wanted. still got dredge suit and swamp+tree combo for the last 2 before Maw, lol.
i am scared to go back into wvw to get my 500 badges for my legendary, and worry i might face worse opposition there from both sides of the fight.
i want to try to look for a guild that does fractals as a friendly group, but maybe i am looking in the wrong places. my current guild has many invites passed out, but when they join, they don’t try to converse, and not rep, so they miss out on all the fun stuff the guild i am in is doing or talking about in guild chat. then they leave 2 days after joining, lol
i mostly spend time getting funds for clover attempts, but i do my dailies and play with color combos for armor, because that’s what keeps me invested the most right now. i wave to random people, and most of the time they just run off after i /wave to them
while i am still a noob for that CoF dungeon, i expected myself to pick it up after 2 times through. setting my personal bar for info retention helped a lot when going in without my guild once. i still died numerous times in there, but i was not totally oblivious to how each section of that path worked, which made it look like i knew what i was doing, i just wasn’t good at surviving the process..
thankfully, that group did not kick me, and i pulled my weight as best i could. sometimes i randomly ask “do we pull to door?” or “run past?”, because you can never be too sure what the rest of the group is going to do. asking these types of questions makes you retain the processes and shows that you know something about what’s going on (like on Magg – with the 1-2-2-2-2-2-2-2 until finished tactic) even if you dont survive it.
an accordion or bagpipe would be cool to have.
i am currently 10 for 16 tries. i have been attempting 2-3/day after doing dailies since the weekend, and have gotten some T6 materials i also need for my legendary.
there already is a drinking achievment – the thirst one in the community tab (i think). it sits there with the All you can eat title (eat 800 consumable items).
the drinking one requires 100,000 points.
the all you can eat title takes 11,200 karma – buying slices of eda’s pie for 14 karma/each. (just finished that one, starting on drinking one)
maybe a /swoon, which gives characters a bunch of hearts like the nightmare hounds (when you interact positively with them in the nightmare court post north of the spiral puzzle)
/nyan would be cool, too!
maybe use a screen recorder, or FRAPS the crafting process? i saw a few video attempts on youtube, maybe you all can do the same? a screenshot might not have the same effect as an actual attempt video.
also, there is also a title/award that displays on the character selection screen “Equip a Legendary”
[self-confirmed] caledon forest is nice. i am currently farming trolls in their camp to the right of the exit. if you go to he middle of caledon, there are skale, bats, and wurms for their respective achievements. there are also fish in the water below, and crabs for the shell title (the npc crabs with the white names – you can one-shot those)
[self-confirmed]the norn starting area has that group of jotun, and there is a concentration of them at a chest location by the shaman’s jump puzzle. they are located on the Jackalope event path – you can’t really miss it. there are also minotaurs there, as well.
[more obvious]Undead are easy, just do events in Orr, and 100o undead kills accumulate really fast.
there’s a spot in queens dale, i think with a hilltop of raptors and griffons – have not started on those yet.
[self-confirmed]also found devourers outside the AC dungeon. facing the entrance outside, head east to find a nice area of quick spawns. harpies can be found behind the AC dungeon around the ascalon wall, and that event at the nearby merchant (campfire, merchant, and tent) spawns a bunch of harpies to kill off.
I finished the wurm/bat/skale ones at the same time in about 4 hours of auto-attacking. the “Plant” one i have only found by killing the 4-legged plant walkers in gendarran fields. i don’t know if there are other plants available/around.

I love your website! it is very informative, and i enjoy the links and pictures! i was able to find my dream armor and efficiently go about getting my exotics!
Thanks, Dulfy! you are a life-saver!
maybe it can be redesigned so they can be thrown into the forge to make a super ring?
how about some kind of timer, that blows up sieges and removes all players, resetting the puzzle after 30 minutes, or something? then even if you get booted halfway through the puzzle, it will have reset, forcing grieving players to rush in and rebuild before the puzzle resets again. having to rebuild sieges and stuff at the puzzle might be time consuming and wasteful, and it may deter some of those grievers.
i am going to need 460 more badges for my gift of battle. i hope stuff like this gets fixed before i head in to scrub more.
i might try harder in WvW if this happened, for sure. my first month of visiting the lands was for actively scrubbin’ for world completion. i followed zergs but ultimately did not partake too much in the zergVzerg system. now that i have my gifts to make, i need to revisit WvW sigh for badges of honor.
something that makes it at least interesting for me to stay and participate more would be appreciated, because i plan to scrub more frequently in the coming months, if the drop rate is so low.
i went to check it out and attempt it, once. i got into the waiting area, there was a timer that did not decrease for a minute (maybe i lagged) and there were no snowballs left to occupy the waiting time, so i returned to lion’s arch without trying it.
check with your bank’s fraud department. my bank flagged the purchase query when i bought gems for a friend at his house as a gift, but had to make 2 purchases back to back. the randomness of the amounts and the “unfamiliarity with the source” (said the associate on the phone), i was able to straighten it out (ant they approved the transactions) with the bank over the phone.
if i had to do it again, i made a note to myself to “have the bank on the phone when you do it, next time.”
i am sorry, but i am having trouble identifying the one in question. have you tried going into the dungeon, or starting the story mission?
the links show the map, i just not sure of the one in question.
i like the Gold/Silver/Bronze system already in place. shoot for gold all the time, and you can almost never lose.
i like Golem Chess. can be played solo or i think with another live player.
i am hoping for:
1. monthly “dailies or weekends” – like in guild wars, sometimes they had double faction weekends. i hope they bring this to karma and other various items (+chance for extra pristine fractal relics?)
2. not so much as more ascended gear, but additional ways of acquisition. while adding more fractals is nice and probably needed for other players, i would like to just be able to acquire it several ways, instead of just inside fractals.
3. some account or soul-bound items should be able to post on the trade post or be salvaged.
4. dungeon revamps? i heard very little about it, but hope they adjust for difficulty and fun. i have yet to attempt arah and honor of the waves, but i am thinking about going for The Bifrost, which requires the Gift of Zhaitan (500 arah shards). this part, besides the 500 wvw tokens, scare me lots.
you should add the “boogity boogitty boogitty amen” to that.
i had to read it a few times to get it – it is well-written.
1. Eir Stegalkin – i love her so much, i made a playable copy for myself, using look kits
2. The beach patrol captain at claw island
3. Magister Seiran (the fun, exploring Sylvari)
4. Queen Jennah
5. My ele
6. the large female norn Citizen at the Mystic forge
still would not work if you get kicked on the way to the chest after revival.
what if you just visited the 3 jump puzzles in LA ONCE every day? does that count? the same easy 3 puzzles to discover/access over 10 days might make it go faster. haven’t tried it yet, just a thought.
i thought early preparation was the focus to fractals, using 1-10 for experience and obtaining the ascended stuff so when i venture into 10+ i would be okay.
is early preparation NOT the objective?
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
i wish i could buy rings…i may never advance past lv5. under-geared elemental lf more ways to get ascended stuff outside of fractals. willing to pay up to 25 gold for one
if you play in the wee hours, you might be able to hop onto the winning servers. choose wisely, as transfers are allowed once/week.
/Edna (no capes rant) from The Incredibles movie is what this thread reminds me of.
i think it’s difficult for some players to render effects and other players in game already. having more stuff that moves on characters or in the world will make it worse. the only option it seems is to get the Guild armor skins for 1 gold each.
players can already see guild tags, isn’t that enough?
If looking at the ones on the Trade Post, they are labeled “Spine guards” – not sure if it’s one or two words.
i spent an hour looking for “back piece”.
(edited by rgrwng.4072)
thanks for the clarification on the color changes. the website looks very informative at first glance.
as an ele, sometimes my opening auto attack crits for 700 (low, i know – i am working on it). because i think it “spikes” the target as an opening move, enemies go invulnerable, so i have to run away and then go back when they reset.
with no prior instruction on how to identify the different level “tiers”, could someone please explain? this question may sound crabby, but i don’t know what these tiers are.
i thought it was just a random match-up of servers, that just happened to be SoS, JQ, and SB. i did not know of this beforehand (actually, at all), due to lack of instruction/introduction/hand-holding in game. but maybe i should stop trying to report the charr NPC at the spawn point for AFK-ing and get to know him better.
i just thought i would log in and be able to roam freely, looking for interactive points around to find out what to do. this is not currently so, and players i guess either “just get with the program and go with it” or are inexperienced scrubs (players call me scrub – i kind of like that title). not the best wake-up call, but i’d rather not combat any other players – just get my points in peace(?) and leave. scrubbing on the map probably took up some much needed countering spots when i guess times got tough in battle, but i have been at it for about a month now, and just feeling a bit burnt out. i just want to finish exploration so i never have to go in there again.
i finally got the grasp of waiting to queue for entry, and the different maps. I still need 100% completion, and those 2 points i may look at again tonight – maybe i will get lucky by the end of the week.
a guild member says that the colors do rotate, and it’s on a weekly basis? if so, that makes me very happy if the change were to be this weekend. SWITCH ME TO GREEEN!
