The other thing is that you Mag guys love dueling, but we almost never see small groups roaming apart from that.

Because a 5v1 isn’t a duel. A 1v1 is a duel.

When I roam I try to play honorably:
– Don’t attack uplevels.
– Don’t attack people who are clearly don’t want to fight (gathering, trying to get to their karma train, etcetera.)
– Don’t jump into an even fight (unless the enemy tries to stomp.)
– /invite or /join people to tell them ‘good fight’ if the situation allows for it.
– Try to warn enemy roamers when a zerg is inbound.

… but more often that not it just gets me zerged down, killed, or insulted. I should really stop trying to be nice and start being a jerkface.

Considering the state of Warriors up until about two months ago, I’d say he’s abused child whose parents are now trying to win back over by showering him with gifts. All his friends come over and are super jealous of all the stuff his parents give him but all he wants is to be like everyone else and be loved. ;-;

BUG: The six-piece set bonus on the [Superior Rune of Maguuma] does not actually do anything.

Maguuma will resurge and pull out a first-place victory every week until the end of the season, taking their birthright as #1 PPT server NA. Calling it right now. It’s 100% definitely probably going to maybe happen.

The meta achievements are based around normal WvW play. You can’t compare them to the living story achievements because those funnel you into one area and are only available for 2-4 weeks. Whereas these achievements exist in the entire game mode and are active for 7 weeks.

The season rewards are fine. They provide a nice flashy reward that doesn’t make much of a difference for those who joined high-pop realms before the transfer cutoff and they’re only around for the following season. If they had much bigger and better rewards for the top-placing realms then there would be some face-slapping going on.

We haven’t seen what the actual season-end reward chests will be so we can’t complain about those yet.

Stability negates all CC (except Immobilize) for its duration. Stun breakers are your “trinkets.” You have access to both of them. Some classes more than others, which is inherent in their design.

Adding DRs to CC would require a complete overhaul to the game’s combat system from a design perspective. If it went in as-is it all CC would pretty much instantly become useless due to the abundance of stun breaks. And how would stability affect it?

I don’t get all these “roamers” complaining that they don’t get good fights in WvW. If you want good small scale fights go do PvP.

sPvP doesn’t offer the same diversity as WvW. The gear is too limited and the class balance is even more out-of-whack. Also there is still zero incentive to play. The rankings don’t even mean anything anymore thanks to that nasty glory farming exploit.

WvW is special in the way that the consumables, gear, and stacking bonuses allow so many different builds to be viable. I don’t remember who said it—one of my old Warrior podcast buddies—but he put it best: “People can be so overpowered, it practically balances it out. Because _everyone can be overpowered!”

Unless you were getting those 9 stacks during the Warrior/Necro encounter, the Thief was likely running Perplexity as well.

You said he was never knocking you down, but were they interrupting you? Did they ever interrupt your attack animations, whether a knockdown or not?

DeathTouch actually explained Maguuma’s attitude towards PPT perfectly here, and it’s absolutely true. We’ve long abandoned the PPT game because it wasn’t worth the effort. There in’t a single server on the same level as Maguuma. In the PPT game, everyone either completely rolls us over or we would completely roll them over. There hasn’t been a close matchup with Maguuma in it in a very very long time. But at the end of the day we’d prefer to lose the “war” and have realms like BG and SoR who actually show up and fight. (Even if it’s in overwhelming numbers and ya’ll’re stinky and poopy and bad.)

When we found out that there was a possibility of us making gold league, we put on our try-hard pants and played the PPT game really hard. Even though we have absolutely no business playing WvW against T1 servers, we went for it. As soon as we clinched the 6th seed we turned in our Flame Rams and immediately went back to our old ways.

My guild doesn’t really even go for territory anymore. We roam around looking for your blobs to try and break open. Most of the time when we do take something, it’s in an effort to get you guys to pay attention to us come out and play. (Why else would we set up trebs in the middle of an open field? :P)

Maguuma knows that we’re not going to win the PPT game against you guys unless Australia collectively decides to transfer, so we’re just going to keep doing our thing: looking for fights on the road, in the field, in the ruins, and on the forums. ‘cuz we don’t want first place. We don’t want your fancy Golden Dolyak finishers. We want YOUR DELICIOUS LOOT BAGS!

Been to EBG recently? They’re smack dab in the middle of the mercenary camps. And unlike the BL mercenaries, the EBG ones are actually relevant to the gameplay tactically.
