U mising 10 points fom Traits loooooooooool
That’s because the last 10 traits are optional. roooooooooooooooooooooofl
Actually, you will be able to fire off a combustive shot every 8 second. You have 3 sources of max adrenaline: signet of rage, adrenal health and signet of fury. If you think about it, usually even with furious, you’ll probably get max adrenaline form either signet or heal before you furious fully recharges it. This is especially true in defense / offensive positions as you will not be able to stay at the front line for long.
You raise a good point. I’ll definitely give 30 strength a shot tonight.
Why no stronger bowstrings? Is there something I am missing?
I personally don’t think the two longbow talents are really worth their investment compared to other things.
Why not take those 30 arms and put them into strength? If you take heightened focus and a sigil of accuracy with some food, your crit chance is around 90% even without going into arms. 30 into strength will ensure your crits are crazy high.
The purpose of 30 arms and 30 tactics is to be able to do a Combustion shot every 8 seconds. While the 30 trait in Strength for Berserkers stance isn’t bad it only provides adrenaline boosting every 45 seconds, whereas extra adrenaline on hit is constant gain. Especially since it’s AoE crits, it usually guarantees at least 2/3rds of your bar full by the time you’ve hit your Explosive Shot.
But I will experiment with your suggestion and see if it works better than what I’ve got going on. Thanks!
Maybe you guys saw this get posted to Reddit last week, maybe not, but here’s a music video I did with the infamous Commander Too Huge and his brother Too Girthy.
so your arguement is invalid congrats you got your monthly without leaving wvw.
And what about the part about not being able to get guild merits in WvW?
(edited by robocafaz.9017)
While we’re buffing banners can we make it so they also show your guild emblem? I think that’d be pretty sweet. :P

Here’s a guide I wrote for my guild website a while back.
This is the one I personally run. It’s really versatile in just about every aspect of the game. It doesn’t have much burst, but it has good sustained DPS, survivability, and provides some absolutely insane support.
Traits:
Skills:
Healing:
*Healing Surge - Since this build relies more on storing adrenaline than spending it, this skill provides absolutely spectacular burst healing. At full Adrenaline this can heal you for almost half your health bar. If you’re running Runes of Altruism, you should be using it on cooldown for free ‘For Great Justice’ buffs.
*Healing Signet - The passive regen on this is 208 + 0.033 * Healing Power. This means at high healing power it’s about the effect of a low healing power regen. This signet can be valuable, but if you’re running a rune set that has an on-heal effect, take something else instead. You never want to be activating this signet.
Utility:
Elite:
Gearing Up:
Armor:
Your general guideline is:
Healing Power >>> Vitality > Precision > Toughness > Others
You can get Precision/Vitality/Healing Power gear with Ascalon Catacombs dungeon tokens. There are some available for Karma in Orr, as well.
You want Healing Power obviously to boost your regeneration. You’ll want Vitality to improve your survivability against the Warrior’s greatest weakness: condition damage. Precision will boost your damage, not just from crits but from bleed stacks. If you’re running health steal consumables, it’ll boost survivability too.
Runes:
You have a few good options here:

I used to run this build all day every day, but for the past few weeks (and since I started recording my WvW sessions) I have been running other support builds. I’ll try and get some videos up this weekend.
I know exactly what build she’s running, as well as the food, I’m just curious what runes she uses. May be we can compare notes?
EDIT: I talked to her in-game and she says she uses Runes of the Grove.
I decided to post a guide I wrote on this build a long time ago. You can find that here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/professions/warrior/All-Purpose-Banner-Support-Build
(edited by robocafaz.9017)
I’d love to know your secrets, Nick. I’ve been maining a Warrior since the first beta weekend and haven’t been able to find a build that I’m comfortable with for sPvP.
Does anyone on Kaineng know the gentleman I have targeted in this picture? I’d like to get in contact with him.
Red Guard…
I don’t think anyone is really arguing that Warriors don’t do well in WvW team play.
The problem with this is it never happens in real life.
I live in a castle and am at war with my neighbor across the street. I assure you we siege each other from the comfort of our own ramparts every day.
It’s the first day, we don’t know what other dailies they’ve added.
The descriptors you see are ‘at the moment’, not ‘overall population’. So yes, during the day the servers are less likely to be full.
The smart and reasonable thing for them to do would be every account gets one free server transfer.
Agreed. Though it should probably expire if not used within a certain amount of time. Whether it be a month or a week.
1) Would you prefer ascended gear to be the last tier implemented for the remainder of GW2?
Yes.
2) Would you prefer ascended gear to be equal to exotic gear in all statistics except agony resistance?
In it’s current state, yes. But since they’ve announced plans to add Ascended gear rewards to all gameplay modes, no that won’t be necessary.
3) Would you prefer the level cap to remain at 80 for the remainder of GW2?
Yes
4) Would you prefer if WvW was set up on an equal playing field similar to PvP?
No
5) Would you prefer if WvW / PvP / PvE had separate skill functionalities?
Yes, I think that’s necessary. In fact, we already see it with confusion: a change I felt was very much appropriate.
6) Would you prefer if Magic Find was removed from the game completely?
I would prefer that it would be removed from gear. I have no problems with it being a consumable buff, though.
7) Would you prefer if Magic Find was divided equally amongst all party members?
Interesting idea, but no. I feel like that’d result in people advertising “LF1M MF MONKEY FOR FOTM10”
8) Is GW2 too ‘Grindy?’
With FotM, yes. But other than that, no.
9) Does GW2 need less RNG?
Yes. But the RNG stuff doesn’t need to be removed. They just have to introduce alternatives.
10) Has the Trading Post [and all its users/farmers] positively impacted the economy?
The TP is fine. I just have regrets for it being so flooded all the time. Any negative things about it will stabilize over time.
11) Do you have as much faith [and/or enthusiasm] about the game [and/or company] as you did before launch?
No. I haven’t lost faith, but I have been questioning ANet’s motives lately. One day they’ll be super awesome and release a big post about EXACTLY what they’re doing (i.e., that dev post about culling a few weeks ago.) Other days they’ll just say “We’re going to do these things eventually! We have no time frame! Here’s a patch that ‘fixed some bugs.’”
12) Do you reasonably expect [many of] your primary concerns to be addressed in early 2013?
Early 2013? Not all of them. But many of them.
This entire thread reminds me of the hippies from that one South Park episode.
(edited by robocafaz.9017)
You’d be surprised how easy it is to farm up the mats for a full set of armor and weapons. Honestly, the T6 mats are the only thing that’re really a pain to drum up (if you’re going for Berserker’s especially.) But with a bit of craftiness that’ll be your only major expense.
Hey, this problem doesn’t really concern me or most of us, but it’s something that I feel should be brought up.
After guesting is implemented and free transfers are shut off, are there any plans to allow new accounts to server transfer for free? New players may not quite understand what they’re looking at when they receive the first realm list, or the server with their friends may be full. I think it’d be a good idea to let new accounts realm transfer for free maybe once or twice, or during the first week or something along those lines. I think it’ll save newbies a lot of hassle.
Again, not a problem that affects me, but I just thought I’d throw that out there.
ANet doesn’t need more money, they need some temporal shenanigans so they can churn out these patches faster!
Start a kickstarter for a time dilation device, then give it to Colin when it’s been engineered. :P
Protection on dodge roll is a nifty idea, but that’s not a level 5 trait, that’s a level 25 trait. That’s a huge game changer. If it’s at level 5 just about every non-glass cannon build will probably grab it.
I would argue that Warriors are one of the best and most versatile classes in PvE. It does take some time to master, though. You need to figure out proper cooldown usage, strafing/kiting techniques, etcetera.
…but in all honesty the easiest and typically most efficient way to level a warrior is to grab a greatsword, throw on 5 signets, and hundred-blades everything into a fine paste before they have a chance to really hurt you.
Once you hit 80 you can worry about doing things right. ;P
Much of the ‘perma’ in ‘permastealth’ thieves comes from culling. The game not rendering players quickly enough can grant thieves an extra second or two of stealth every time they pop out. What’s worse is the inability to target them.
When ANet fixes this, you’re going to see a lot of thief tears~
I’m sorry, I really don’t think GW2 would benefit from any sort of structured raid. What it does need is more end-game areas with large boss events with better rewards (and bigger repercussions for not running back when you die.)
I think the Temple of Grenth is a good example of a boss fight with interesting mechanics that will wipe the entire zerg if people don’t pay attention to them. But the boss himself is too much of a spank.
I think the Gates of Arah is a good example of a boss fight that’ll wreck your face off (like in that one movie with Nicholas Cage and John Travolta) if people aren’t paying attention to him, but he lacks interesting other mechanics.
wall jumping is an entirely seperate issue.
They tried to fix that too, ended up having to revert it because they broke all the jumping puzzles in the game. I hope they get it figured out too.
The remedial fix they reverted seemed to put a limit on the number of times you could jump in a given amount of time. Hence why jumping seemed so screwy that night it was in. The actual solution, which I assume they’re working on, is likely going to require changes to the game’s collision detection. Which is going to be very unpleasant work methinks.
I’d love to give my explanation of temporary solutions, but that’d have to involve me explaining how to perform some of the jumps, so I will keep it off the forum…
I can confirm that wall-jumping over the outer and inner walls of that keep is still possible.
I assume the exploit that was fixed didn’t involve wall-jumping.
You speak as if we didn’t get pounded quite a bit before we were able to rise up.
You haven’t had a complete shut-out matchup in the past two months. In fact, you’ve won almost every single one of them. So don’t even pretend.
Get some Cajones.. pull some people together and push .. just think of how good of a morale boost it would be to take something that has steel walls… even if we do take it right back.
We do. We do every night. Every night we’ve retaken at least 100 points worth of real-estate. But apparently that ain’t enough to keep you guys from talking junk all week.
I’m kind of wondering what it does to your server morale to have so many people just give up.
It’s a snowball effect, but the giving up doesn’t come before the morale loss. People don’t give up when there’s high morale. People give up when they see things as being hopeless. Which, quite frankly, if you’re a casual, participating in WvW is hopeless when you get in a situation like this.
(edited by robocafaz.9017)
There is simply no way to do that without it being exploitable. The only workaround I can really think of is being able to start a bug report, have it take the screenshot, and then you can finish it later or something.
I am still waiting to see something I can compliment either of these servers on, but alas all I can give them props on is way to ride a break out event and leave.
There is literally nothing else for us to do this week. When you guys find yourself on the receiving end of a matchup like this, you’ll understand the situation. When your opponent has held everything long enough (about one night) to upgrade everything to max level and put waypoints everywhere, it is near impossible to make a comeback.
You have infinite supply, an untouchable map presence, and you’ve crushed the morale of the casuals who make up a majority of the servers. The only thing for us to do is run supply camps, and if we don’t do that in a very sporadic fashion your response team will typically catch up to us after about 30 minutes.
There is literally no time of day they can release a patch without screwing up somebody’s plans.
Because of the way patch deployment works (there’s a one-hour talk about it on Gamasutra) if they don’t bring down WvW servers immediately after patch deployment players will find themselves in two separate instances of the map. This isn’t a big deal in PvE, but you can probably understand why it is in WvW.
I have found ways to get into just about every single WvW keep and tower without breaking the walls, and I have reported each and every single one.
The ball is in their court now.
LOL you think that’s the reason they ran the golem train?
I see my sarcasm has gone undetected. Fancy that.
Anyways, someone needs to say this. You guys need to get some toughness and vitality, so many glass cannons its a joke.
Please relay that message to your roamers. I’ve been running around on a level 28 Mesmer the last two nights and somehow I’ve come out on top of nearly all of the fights… Thieves, Dual-Dagger Eles, Warriors, I should not be able to take them in a fight with my gear and lack of elites…
It’s a shame that SF who isnt outmanned has to wait and spawn the NPC champion to take towers. It’s even numbers out there late night fellas. .
It’s a shame that DR who isnt outmanned has to wait and spawn a dozen siege golems to take garrisons. lol look how many of u it took to kill us
You act like not having the outmanned buff somehow means we have the supply to gain a foothold in the map. Like somehow us not being outmanned makes it so you guys don’t have the towers maxed out with waypoints in all the keeps. Our lack of extra karma and experience from events is draining you guys of supply so you can’t just keep repairing or out-siege us. Or the lack of outmanned means when you guys see that one of your towers is under attack you won’t bring half your server over to respond to it.
You do good ONE week and suddenly you’re big man in the house. Well, I wish you and your guildies the best of luck when you get in a balanced matchup.
Y’know that lag you get when your zerg combines with their zerg? Okay, now imagine that at all times. That’s what’d happen if there wasn’t some sort of information throttling.
Now I’m not gonna say that justifies the less-than stellar algorithm being used now, but that’s the reason why we need some sort of culling in WvW.
WvW = PvE with PKing.
Just saiyan.
I wouldn’t call that an exploit. The spawn areas are meant to be the only safe haven in WvW so if it doesn’t belong to you you should probably back off.
To the SF mesmer [SANC] that continuously tried to do terrain exploits all night, I respectfully advise you to stop.
Ah, my Necro friend. Yes, that was me. My Mesmer’s name is “Glast Heim” and he’s level 17. I heard some hubbub about terrain exploiting and decided to see what the extent of it was. Much to my surprise I was able to get inside every single tower, keep and garrison in the Borderlands. I assure you, however, despite my Mesmer-being, I had no intent to portal anyone inside, and every method I used was reported. I also took videos which I will not be sharing with anyone except an ANet employee, because god knows sharing that information would probably screw up the entirety of WvW until it all gets fixed.
I recognized you swimming by when I was trying to shimmy up the water-way. I was glad you didn’t attack me right then and there. I knew when you started following me inside I wasn’t going to get a chance to climb inside the keep lord’s room, so I did my best to show my non-malicious intentions. Sadly your magical non-rendering thief friend didn’t agree…
When I first saw you, you had embedded yourself in the top of the outside wall at Hills.
That was completely unintended, actually (and I also reported that.) I was trying to get away from the Veteran Archer atop the wall and I used my staff 2 and it embedded me in the wall. When you came buy I was trying to emote at you for help but I couldn’t seem to stop my character from moving.
If you want to contact me in-game tonight we can discuss this more in-depth. I don’t want my experiments to reflect negatively on my guild nor my server.
(edited by robocafaz.9017)
My only complaint about portals is being able to portal-bomb into towers/keeps. Because you can’t knock someone out of stealth having a single nimble jabroni can completely counter a server’s defensive strategy. It is too much reward for so such an easy strategy to execute.
if (Player.getClass == WARRIOR && Player.hasTrait(FAST_HANDS) == true)
weapon_swap_timer=5;
No brackets on your one-line if statements? Pig disgusting!
But I kid. I see that you have some knowledge of computer programming, so you should understand this. If you’ve listened to any of the dev chatter you know that they’re aware of the bugs at hand, but pushing out the fixes takes a while. Why is that? Because they’re fixing the issues in the game engine itself, not applying cheap little patches like this one as a hackney solution to an issue.
A further issue is that with a game this big and an engine this involved, fixing something can cause other issues to arise in other locations.
The slow process of bug fixing isn’t due to a lack of caring or a lack of talent, it’s because debugging in systems as large as these is a much more complex beast than it looks like from the outside. Especially if you want to do it right.
Could someone tell me where Colin said that they wouldn’t touch WvW until February?
HAHA it only took you 25 people to take it man that was hilarious.
Don’t be that “lol look how many it took 2 kill me” guy. Nobody likes that guy.
Human female, black skin, white hair.
I don’t think it was you I ran into then. The only time we managed to catch her, I’m pretty sure she ALT+F4’d before she got spiked.
She inspired me, though. I freakin’ love high-mobility builds so I’m working on my own Ele now. :P
My character is the elementalist in NOM guild because I’m the only one in it. So yeah, I’d say I was called out. And it’s hilarious because I’d never dream of hacking.
Ah. Yeah, I should’ve known that because I can see your character, server, and guild roster via your forum post.
Are you the human female with the pink bow hair? ’cuz I kept seeing one last in the HoD borderlands who was super-duper slippery.
AND BP NOM Guild and a few other Speed hack cooldown ELE’s are big time hackers.
I’m being called out for being a hacker? Hahahaha.
Nobody called you out.
We at Sorrow’s Furnace have established amazing prime time presence. Unfortunately our overnight and midday shifts are still lacking. Thus Borlis gets to upgrade the entire Eternal Battlegrounds to steel. :P
We’re gonna keep picking at you guys, though. No matter how many Ballista lines we have to knock over outside our spawn.
Have plenty of them, our commanders and almost all of the players ignored the portals and took it the right way. Happened a few times till the guy got the point, we aren’t going to cheat.
Good on you, guys. Good on you.
Well, it took about 4 hours, but the stalemate at the Henge of Denravi Borderlands just ended with Borlis Pass taking Greenbriar tower. Henge of Denravi caught the Sorrow’s Furance defenders by surprise and whittled our gate down to about 10% when Borlis Pass scooted through, wiped them up, and took the victory for their own. It was a fun battle, gentlemen.
