Hang gliders! New profession specialization! Those seem really cool!
PvP changes seem bad! Even with the new specializations and the new class and the effect it will have on the meta, the game mode will still be boring, old, stale, un-esports conquest! Meanwhile the new game mode is even less PvP than conquest! It’s practically PvE! Where are the arenas! Where is true PvP!
Oh wellz! Back to the Killing Floor 2 hype! CSGO until it comes out!Wahoo! Bye frands!
No healers = no arenas. Wont ever happen.
This game would be wonderful if it had 2v2 and 3v3. In fact it’s the missing link thst keeps me playing GW2 as much as I would. The lack of healers but everyone has self heals is the exact reason TOO have arenas. Healers did nothing but make games way too long. GW2 has rezzing, stomps, self heals and are perfect length, especially for a best 2 out of 3 system. Gw2 has 2v2 tournies which are AMAZING.
I’m super sad that after all the community push to make 2v2s happen that it’s still ignored. The community made 2v2s happen weekly and it’s just brushed off as a non-concern. It’s a gold mine. People like to PVP with fewer friends becuase it allows for more flexibility and “pick up and play”.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
pls take this stupid bird outta pvp…the game should be moving to a high skill cap not lower! AI needs to go
Technically, the bird increases the skill cap and people are complaining about it. What does this bird do? Ensures your enemy knows to keep moving, can exploit terrain, knows when to swap targets (to kill a 1m cd bird that isn’t hard to kill if you focus it for a second). Technically speaking, skill is a two sided coin, it does make players have to play better.
And now to discredit myself, MM+Bird (I was doing it before it was cool #hipster).
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Remove all non humans…from the entire game.
Why make a statement like this its common knowledge that asura animations are not quite right and running an asura gives a player a slight advantage. Also Tol is a serious tournament for gw2 banning asura from tol is a good idea. It also make things better for spectators.
You never know, he might be being serious and is just highly racist against plants, cats, midget aliens and giants.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Cheese just means “a build I should be able to kill with my skillset, but can’t”.
More often than not, that actually more comes down to “counter”, more than “cheese”, what’s cheese for one guy is cake for another. So if you dissect it to its core, every build is cheesecake.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
MM necro is not op. It’s far too easy to completely negate the minions if you aren’t really really dumb. Makes really kittenty players ok but almost nerfs better players.
never said it was op. its just an idiot spec which is “too viable” while too easy to play. thats why i didnt put it in the same line as thieves and strength runes. same for turret engis.
Good plan, something is “dumb” to you, so lets decrease build diversity. Pet builds have existed in many mmos, and they are unique, you should learn to embrace them. Pets are strong area denial, pressure for movement on the enemy, but in turn are severely weak against AOE, their own stupidity, and the master is much less of a personal threat alone. (In the case of MM, much weaker, no stability, protection, vigor, mobility, minor damage alone, and long cast times to resummon, and nearly paper when they’re dead). Quit crying about “its not my style of play because they can do automatic damage” and just learn to exploit their AI weaknesses, which there are many. Stealth, evades, stability, protection, auto-regen heals and other “passive” cast-and-forget defesnes are just as bad if you want to go for skill play only. In no way is passive damage worse than passive defenses (the trade off MM necros go for, less passive and active defenses for more *constant pressure). Think of them as DOTs you can aoe blow up and leave the master left for dead.
Just saying, if you’re “not saying they’re OP” then you’re just being close minded and ignoring the whole game’s mechanics. Much of GW2 is “press and forget” and passive, lets not single anyone out because you can’t handle one over the other.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
blu tried, Anet did not allow it…
That’d be admission to failure.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Anet reserved a relatively low budget for pvp. So they had to pick their nose.
Fixed.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
I have to say, and I know people are all “damage done doesn’t matter” but topping charts is what kept me PVPing in WoW for 8+ YEARS… Wonky “points” system doesn’t do my any good, I need to know I’m wrecking kittenes.
But also, charts are a good way to see just how much imbalance exists believe it or not. It helps collect a lot of useful information~ Who’s making the most kills the most often, what builds are dominating in damage ACTUALLY, who’s getting dem stomps and rezzes off. Stuff like that.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
2v2 and 3v3 is already pretty balanced in this game (not 1v1, though). There’s tons of diversity in both~ This is from experience, there’s honest to god more viable comps for 2v2/3v3 than ALL of conquest… So that’s not the issue.
The issue is: ANet waited too long to do anything with PVP, so most of the PVP population has migrated away. The game doesn’t have the population to take another split like that… Both would just end up dried up, but specifically Conquest. Conquest ques would basically stop going, which would look like a MAJOR fail for them. Ques would all be 10-15+ minutes and end up being rank 80s versus rank 1s because it eventually just took who it could get. 2v2s/3v3s would fire pretty frequently because it takes fewer people, but all of their resources and “balancing” has been around conquest which would basically stop existing. As much as the community would love it, it’d make them look bad and break half of their PVP.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
waits for sikari to come in to defend his “very high skilled” spec
Actually! MM is a “very high skilled” spec! It’s hard to avoid all the AOE, pets die in seconds, and it’s one of the few builds that doesn’t have a stun break (unless you run wurm and kitten yourself in other ways, and it has to be pre-casted), no protection/stability/evades/blocks/vigor, and low mobility etc. Very skilled spec is skilled! Thanks for reminding me Rubik! <3
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
No love for HWL Sikari, just trying to troll people with MM eh?
Sad day indeed.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
What is this build, anyways? I can’t say that I’ve ever encountered a, what I’d consider, an overly dangerous guardian. x.X
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Just because it applies to both sides doesn’t make it bad. That’s like saying OP classes can exist because both sides can exploit them. Such a goofy argument. If a team is good enough to beat 1v2 or 2v3 or even 2v4 strength in numbers should not say “well duh, they haz more so they should win”. No. That’s COMPLETELY and purposefully throwing skill out of the equation. If 2 people are tearing down the walls because the enemy isn’t playing well enough or don’t have a good synergy or communication they should not have even MORE crutch on top of outnumbering their enemy. I don’t know why people keep thinking this idea of “the game keeps going after you die, its a skillful and indepth play scenario”, it’s not. They balance damage around people dying, which means more time is spent dying and less time fighting with your actual skills than it should be to compensate for this goofy kitten mechanic.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
I did come up with solutions…
Like I said above. Downed stat COULD have been cool as a clutch IF:
- It was equal between classes.
- Once per “combat”
- no rallies, only pick ups and stomps (/dps down)
- A “give up” button like borderlands 2 had so you don’t waste time on the ground.
- In pve, if you’re downed and go out of combat you rally (so if you kill something in a clutch, you can raise but only if you killed everything)And finally they just tone down burst a bit to compensate (in pvp AND, especially PVE).
Then you can spend more time strategizing and being skillful on your feet, not “skillfully” picking up people off their kitten. d(‘-’d)
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Everybody is going to be a bunker unless they are a warrior or thief. Because if you are not a bunker you get gibbed by warriors and thieves. Warriors and thieves dominate the non-bunker field in such a lopsided way.
Bunkers are just the symptom. Nerf warriors and thieves, and more classes will go power spec, because the fact is most people initially didn’t want to go conditions. At the release of the game most builds were actually power builds.
Only bads are unable to use glassy builds. Every class has a viable power glass build except ranger. So unless you are a ranger its a massive l2p issue.
Like Power MM!
<3
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Lol glass v glass isn’t skill… A little bit of twitch, but when you see low ranks killing the best players because you can 2 shot someone, that doesn’t fully express skill. TTK needs to not be infinite (like bunkers can frequently cause) and it needs to be long enough for any type of thinking, not lucky dodging and exploiting terrain teleports or packing as many instkittennto a 2 second frame as possible (most zerker builds).
Truth be told, not much in this game at all really requires skill, but saying zerker specifically does is nonsense. 2 shotting anyone is never a skill factor.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Well, simple concept everything has some sort of weakness, but it’s those with the fewest that really shine.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Erm.. IDK the most annoying thing I’ve witnessed so far are condition engies. o.O They certainly aren’t “lacking” in the burst damage compartment…

I like downed state. It makes the PvP more coordinated and skillful play can be used around it. It makes the fights more intense. A reason GW2 might have this is because we don’t have dedicated healers to keep people alive. You can have support, I know this, but there is no “healing class”.
I see valid reason within other arguments, though. So I can see why you want it removed.
Actually, with support we do have healers. Everyone can heal themselves… That’s actually pretty unique to this game. The healing isn’t really ignorable neither. Zerker eles can pop back to 100% constantly. We’re our own healers.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Because it’s not as rewarding as botting in PVE. Duh. :P
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
To be fair… Rank 80 isnt any different than having a Legendary. Rank 80 is the “grind” legendary of PVP, whereas Legendaries are for PVE heros. A grind is a grind. All rank 80 says is “I’ve done this before, quite a bit”, but doesnt say “I learned from my time doing it”. It CAN, but it doesn’t directly mean that.
Yes however the amount of rank 80s that are completely clueless are few and far between….
You could say the same about people with Legendaries in reference to PVE and WvW, and at the very least WVW can offer some pvp insight. Learning to stand on points and rotate doesn’t take long. Long story short; if anyone has to say “I have x, so I’m obviously better” for ANY reason, chances are they’re over compensating. Some people will be bad no matter what they achieve (grind wise).

Well, generally speaking if you ever reached 55 (outside of hammer farmers) you should at least know the move very basics of how to fight in a circle…
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
It’s easy. All they need to do is make it so that if your character stand still for longer than 10 seconds they automatically start /dancing.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
It ruined what could have been a good game because of the balancing around it. I’m not going to try to prove it to you, but I deeply believe if it didn’t exist, the balance around it NOT existing would make the game much more enjoyable for just about everyone. Being the same (a place where the game would have never even ended up had it never existed) but taking away downed state, yeah, it wouldn’t seem like such a great idea because PVE would be near impossible and pvp would be zerker bate ahoy, but if numbers were balanced around not expecting you to die every few seconds in PVE or being bursted down in PVP, the overall gameplay could have been improved.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
No, remove it in PVE too. Downed stat is the reason roles don’t REALLY exist in PVE, and why boss mechanics only consist of GIANT 1 shot mechanics. It’s because it’s the only way for people to die and not be constantly picked back up, just have cheesy mechanics to force people into a twitch zerker meta and win in 20 seconds or lose. And out goes strategy and good game design.
If I had my way, there would be no rallies except hard rallies and manually picking people up and only once per combat, otherwise you die for good. Simple, clean, and 2000x more fun/risky.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Yeah really… when another class with 2600+ armor and near 30k health comes and crits you for 7k on one move lemme know. Warriors are still way above viable at the moment.
While warriors may still be pretty good, quoting warrior HP/Toughness versus their damage is a pretty broad generalization of class balance. They also don’t have as much access to a lot of defensive boons, teleports and evades (the biggest contributors to survival in the game). They’re kind of like sponges. They can suck it up but generally speaking they have less “rebound” than say an ele who constantly goes from 20% back to 100% in the course of a fight.
Unless of course you literally apply no pressure to the warrior and signet out heals you. Sounds more like a personal problem.
(I don’t main a warrior)
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
I don’t get it. As far as my pets damage and my normal TTK, nothing really seemed off. (Not sure if you know this or not, but MM pets don’t scale with stats)
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
The strange thing is I don’t recall my minions (Necro) hitting harder than usual? I certainly wasn’t having buggy hits doing ridiculous things like Mesmers… o.O
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Nah man this but makes mesmers OP, and makes them confusing again. It’s all like. “k, ton kill dis mezmur.” Then it’s like “Wtf, am I get attack bye 2 different mezmurs?!”
Just saying. Its a buff!
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
The 1111 on necro is mandatory, what else can a necro do?
Almost every necro skills have a long cast time.
Yep… Life blast being 1.3 seconds between hits and really horrible detection of a person being “in front of you” to cast, all other utilities having absurdly long CDs not worth the wait, generally speaking, its no wonder MM is popular. I too wish the pet actives hit harder and MM got buffed, but at the cost of some minion damage. That’d be great, but we’re talkinga bout anet. they don’t fix stuff fairly. They either overbuff or kill stuff entirely, they don’t shift power properly. :P
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Lol.. kitten A t s e, do we have to go through this every other day? xD
A, Spirit rangers aren’t “afk specs”, spirits have a pretty long cast time and they don’t attack. They’re just buffs. Unless shouts and other boon-related builds are afk specs too, spirit ranger isn’t. They’re just powerful, and suffer from animations all looking alike on short bow. They press buttons to win though, even if you can’t tell that a split-green poison shot, a jump back, a daze shot and a snare are something other than SB #1, doesn’t mean they’re only pressing 1. Not that it matters, thieves are the kings of 1 button combos.
MM, has tons of downsides to its passive damage. It has basically no passive defense (outside of DS, which for any MM build actually weakens you the longer you stay in it because you can’t control pets, apply layers of CC, and you give free time for enemies to kill your pets) . I’d love to have evade on every other attack I have, stability, stealth, etc, I guess not all builds play the same, oh my.
PU Mesmer, don’t care. It can burn in a fire. Literally the only build in the ENTIRE game that I can say I actually “hate”. Condi damage + stealth + ai scaling with stats applying massive condi damage doing actually GOOD damage themselves, weakness spam, perma cripple and the Mesmer never once having to try to engage in the fight themselves is pretty lame. Let alone the actual PU trait itself. At least MM has some sort of relation to their AI (MM ccing so AI isn’t useless).
That’s my two cents, BAI! See you in the duel rooms (lol)
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
I feel that power and condi necros are good against mm necros… or is it that i never encounter a decent mm necro?
Power Necros shouldn’t stand a chance against MMs. You just don’t have the damage to drop the MM quickly enough, and MMs have so much CC you’ll have major issues staying on target. The best you can do is try to cleave down the minions, and even that won’t be possible all the time depending on the MM’s spec.
Condi Necros definitely have the ability to kill MMs, although it is (I would consider) an even matchup. It depends heavily on who gets the first hits in, and if you have epidemic or not. I haven’t personally lost this 1v1 any time recently, but also most condi necros shouldn’t really be 1v1ing anyway.
As proven by Mhuljora, power can be at least DECENTLY effective against MM. The primary reason being, you will pretty much always get max effect LF gain from specrals, wells can wipe out many pets at once, and Warhorn 5 allows for insane amounts of frontal LF, if they have piercing LBs critting for 4-5k you can wipe out an entire mm set up then just focus them down. Of course you have to be very timely and it isn’t “easy” still, but it certainly can be done. If anything I’ve had more issues with Mhuljora because of insane LF regen from my pets dying (giving them LF) and them having LF per-target effects, than Condi, which I can usually just train down before they become too problematic. Plus I run staff and CC so I can send stuff back or heal from the conditions.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
You guys don’t like that there has been like 6 new PVE sets added since release but there has been like 30-40 sets added for gems since release?
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Frailty will definitely be underrated but it’s SO kitten good. A “filler” cover condi every 2 seconds is phenomenal to avoid your meaningful conditions being cleared.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Yeah. You’re kind of a cleric MM and I’m more Soldier MM. I don’t really enjoy playing the healer MM tbh, but I’ve become “rather” proficient as a Power/Soldier MM.
For cleric, wurm also provides streamlined heals and a got out of jail card, so yeah, totally different. Soldier is much more about rushing and overwhelming the enemy before they can even really do much damage, supported by high armor/hp in case it doesn’t work the first time. :P
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
I use shadow for stomps (this is tricky) and for Life force back up. Sometimes as MM things don’t go as planned and you got longer than you’d like without a good reserve of LF. Shadow fiend reduces that issue almost entirely. Unless it misses, cause he’s kind of a kitten .
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
At this rate, MM are severely underpowered. It takes friggen 1.5 seconds to summon just one of those beasties.
WTB instant MM pet summons, it’s only fair.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Don’t use dagger with mm.
Always use a dagger as mm… Dagger/WH + Staff 20/0/30/20/0 is the way to be.
On another note, I can help you out learning how to wreck people in PVP. Just message me.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
This is more along the lines of where I’d expect FT to be.
Buff FT to actually do this much damage in 1 channel anet, pl0x. It won’t be too unbalanced! At least not by your standards.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
(edited by ronpierce.2760)
MM does kinda suck now. I gave it up for tPVP because AOE and burst is just too night for playing something with so little AOE and defesnes/mobility. There are far better and more useful options now that basically render them useless in higher play.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
And complaining that against multiple opponents it gets you killed… well, you where outnumbered to begin with. What did you expect?
See, this is the thing, i was fighting outnumbered (although not at first), but i was actually winning that fight, until i got morphed, which completely turned everything around. Had i not gotten moa’d, i would have killed the elementalist that i was initially doing 1v1 against, and then either ran away from the mesmer, or killed him too if he was a baddie. So you have to understand that in the situation that i was in, it really felt to me like an i-win button.
the elementalist’s mesmer team mate came to save him / her.
too bad for you.and yes moa morph is balanced.
it can be blocked.
if the mesmer is blind, it will miss.
if the mesmer do not have line of sight, it will miss.
And mesmers can’t stealth cast it neither, amirite?!
/highfive
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
No one will understand how bad it is until they give necros a trait that says under 20% hp you’re immune to power damage.
I say we give this to death tree and see how it pans out.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Necro is the easier to play but slightly less effective engineer. So, probably.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Okay, lets think this through. I think PvPers should be the RICHEST players… Why? We’re like the football (Insert other sport here) players of Guild Wars 2. PVE players are like the daily workers. They can grind away their lives but we’re the real excitement worth watching. When you want to hype someone up over the game you don’t show them a chump-train you show them a guy beating some other guys kitten in some BLOOD SPORTS ACTION!
So. Because I feel like PVPers, the blood sport-athletes, should be the most well paid, I suggest games are paid based on ELO/Rating.
- PVE heroes come in, do a team que, they get like 10s lose/20s win.
- Top tier players do a game in tpvp they should get greatly increased rewards per game like 50 per lose and 2g per win. AND contract bonuses… And a Ferrari. Why? Because we do something worth getting paid for.
Thanks for your time.
Hire me.Sorry to burst your bubble but “sports stars” and “super stars” and what not are not anywhere near the richest people in the world.
Sure they make an alright salary, but someone is still paying that salary.
Sure, the econ guys are, owning businesses and what not. This change wouldn’t make PVPers literally the “richest” if you looked at my proposed numbers. In fact, the people who flip the trader would still be BY FAR the richest.
I just think PVPers should get a normalized reward and not be forced to swallow lesser rewards just because they’re “doing PvP”. We deal with the least amount of new content in games, do harder things, and get rewarded far less in just about every game. Theres really no reason for it to be that way, except that it’s become standard.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Class stacking anything is a royal pain in the butt, just think about 3+ guards…
But as it is with anything outcomping is often the dealbreaker for most matchups.
And if you encounter 2+ MM you need some AoE’s in your team.
Even if this might not be a direct solution you should consider getting a powermancer or dd ele as an alt. Imho those builds really make short work out of minions. Also keep in mind MM without minions is dead weight for 20 sec and needs to resummon for ~5 sec total.
Actually, 6 seconds total without being interrupted (never happens) and 7.5 if you run Bloodfiend :P The downtime for MM and vulnerability frame is huge. xD Plus they have no stability/protection/evades, and DS only tends to save about 5-8 seconds for an MM under heavy fire.
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
It’s just that papers ALWAYS get screwed, and for what reason? Most of us have just come to assume we’ll get kitten on constantly. Apparently pvp is its own reward but new content monthly isn’t for PvErs. This is a movement. Equal pay for PvPers! :P
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
Exactly.. I don’t think I’m being real unreasonable here. o.O Maybe even 2.50, people aren’t going to win every game…
Warlord Sikari (80 Scrapper)
