I did not see any real improvements at all. The extra 2 secs on the speed buff.. woopie do. But you gave the thiefs from 30% – 50% increase. Why?, they did not need it at all. Also culling does not work due to all the stealth going around. I noticed today in www we were getting hit and in some cases one shotted before it rendered, if it rendered at all. This does not make the game balanced at all. Culling does not work, it has made it worse.
Go to the thief forum and see them QQ about 50% only in stealth is not enough and that all other classes are more mobile than thieves. They obviously never played a mesmer.
Made my day….a thief complaining about not being mobile enough.
Could be preparation for introducing a hard-counter to stealth. I can’t follow the reasoning for it either. I wish they’d annotate the patch notes with their reasoning instead of just “X now does Y”.
You mean like they did with Gw1?
It’s just a huge facepalm. It’s already hard enough to guess where the permastealth thief has vanished to. But with more speed it’s even worse now. I doubt that there is any reasoning behind this. At least no rational reasoning
Problem is that they adjusted Thief and Warrior accordingly….. I have the feeling it will stay unbalanced.
Well if ur a mesmer who knows how to play thief and warriors shouldnt be a problem for u really i think thier the easiest to take down but im more worried about thiefs stealth problem even after they go in stealth attack me i still dont see them for like 1 or 2 seconds sometimes.. idk wats up with that.
Well, they have even more speed now.
Problem is that they adjusted Thief and Warrior accordingly….. I have the feeling it will stay unbalanced.
I only see buffs for thieves and warriors. Should’ve rolled one to 80.
Because as a thief, you’re sooo slow. Bow, 5, done.
They are pushing too many contents into recent updates, so I won’t mind waiting for another day to make sure things don’t get messed up when they are released.
Generally I’d prefer
a) A lot more communication
b) More fixes, less content until the most urgent stuff is fixedAgree. Quality over Quantity is better.
I also prefer them to be more frank to us. If things need to be postponed, let us know beforehand so we can adjust. I think the majority would understand their efforts.
Yep. Huge delay but with communication, a given reason and maybe a few background infos? Sure, go ahead. Fix what you need to fix, keep us posted, I’m fine with that.
Small delay but no communication, no infos? Very disappointed. But I, and others, have been preaching that since the first huge “fail” in the past events.
The only thing that changed is that the class specific forums get attention by Jon from time to time. But when it comes to handling patches and events….they still have a long way to go. And I really hope that they’ll get there.

Come on now guys. It’s the Holiday Season! Your gift from ArenaNet is coming soon, so relax a bit. No matter where you are ATM, the time in which it should have started has passed. Nothing complaining will do about it. Try finding something else to do for the time being. Do a dungeon or something, or for the EU guys, catch some shut-eye, the event is going anywhere.
The complaining won’t help NOW. But seeing that they’re repeating the same mistakes again and again, I just hope that they’ll someday learn from it and communicate better. Before AND afterwards.

You guys from EU need to calm down. When Anet releases stuff like this it’s always been by PST. Everybody is going to get the content at the same time. You’re not special and are going to get it earlier than everyone else just because it’s almost the 15th over there. This isn’t WoW you know.
Edit: I’d also like to note that you EU people don’t wait for this any longer than we do. Everybody gets told at the same time and the wait time is the same for everyone else.
Nobody has a problem with it launching on the 15th in the EU. We have a problem with Arenanet lying to us and telling us it was launching on the 14th.
And if it comes after 9pm PST it will be the 15th in parts of America too. Stop complaining, get over it.
We will “get over it”, but we will still be disappointed. I think even you had your complaints every now and then, with events going slightly off plan.
Arenanet did not lie to you. They have always operated that their day starts and ends in PST/PDT.
Hm, apparently they didn’t make it clear to a large number of their non-PST/PDT customers.
Get that whole quote and put it here as im not going to go looking for it to disprove you. I am already assuming that the 14 that it was saying also had a time on it that would have PST right after that time… making it the 14th in california…
No, the one-time events had times listed (with, as you say, ‘PST’ clearly marked) but the European website simply stated ‘December 14th’ as the launch time for the ‘festivities’ generally.
So you all are going to argue that your idiots? If the “one time events” had times marked with pst that would not make sense at all that the “days” would be the same would it?
Ok, imagine ANet being in Honolulu und you being in NY. That makes about 5 hours time difference. Now imagine the schedule “Patch and start December 14th” with no time and no timezone given. “1st event December 15th, 3pm UTC-5”
It then turns out that the patch will be out at 11:59pm UTC-10, which makes it 4:59am UTC-5.
What would you think, hm?
Halloween came out around midnight (PST) of the announced day. You guys are gonna have to be a little more patient.
I have no big problem with waiting. I have a problem with false advertising and my plans being mixed up due to it. If I had known beforehand….I could wait in patience for a long time.

We’re not demanding to get it earlier than the rest. What we’re demanding however is a clear advertisement.
Yes, it might be the case that most of the time they mean PST. But they have to state so clearly on the advertisement. And not by “huh, that’s well known, we can just put up information in PST and let them complain”.
It’s not “you guys from EU need to calm down.” Move ANet to a timezone -x hours from yours, and you’ll start complaining at some point too.
Omg the EU servers were lied too and nobody else was!
They already said that it would be out sometime today… which is about 8 hours left of today their time. So they still have not lied to you.
They have, because on every EU website it was announced to be on the 14th.

Well then with the above said, it will be up and running in 9 hours and 24 mins
They could be delaying release for a reason, like some servers not yet ready ect…
but that is internal, we don’t need to know why.I know I’ll be online when it hits provided I am done with work.
Just think of how grateful the engineers at ANET will be when it goes live
Server issues, last minute bugs, whatever happened…. communication is key.
https://www.guildwars2.com/de/the-game/releases/december-2012/
Is there SOMEWHERE mentioned that the patch will be on 15th or 14th? Only the event at “Der Hain” is said to be on 15th with pst time.
So next time PLEASE just say it on the offical sides also that it is pst time….
Ps: Even on the german frontpage “PST” is nowhere to be found….
Good point. The german site should tell GMT dates, not PST. So, the information on the german website should mean that the patch should’ve been out by today (GMT time).
Rootnode> Go to bed now, get up early, be awake when you know the patch will be available in the morning.
Yeah, unfortunately there’s something like work. Would’ve loved to get into some snowball fights before tomorrow, or at least download the patch.
I’m not mad about the delay itself. I am mad about the poor planning of the patch schedule or (if anything happened), poor communication. Both would’ve helped in planning the weekend.
Don’t be filling this thread with more QQ unless you are:
A) Spending $100 bucks on gems in anticipation of chest drops .
B) Can’t download the client patch on the 15th morning before the event on 10 PST.
C) Making plans to visit relatives via a trip and want to download the new content so you can play on your phones slow tether plan.
D) Download patches at internet cafes where you pay per hour and then use your phones slow tether plan to play.
So I can complain due to.
Oh, and they did specify here on the forums that the patch will come on December 15th according to PST, so the other US locations you mentioned don’t count.
Lol, if the servers crashed we couldn’t play at all.
The event will start tomorrow and they’re taking their time to check their patches a few times more or so, lol
To make sure that they included all the bugs? And I’m not talking about bugfixes…
Nope, the patch just hasn’t been released yet.
Wintersday starts on December 14th in PST time, not GMT. So, I’m afraid we won’t get any Wintersday today in the EU. Which basically rips us off of 1 weekend day, but hey… as if they’d care to communicate…
Mesmer nerfs and warrior buffs.
Don’t forget the thieves. They’ll get a new extra stealth with the new swiftness bonus.
And releasing it in the morning PST would give them more time to fix problems if some arise. Sounds better than releasing it in the afternoon PST and then having to work overtime, doesn’t it?
Well, I could’ve gone and get wasted instead of waiting for the patch, which most likely won’t come out until tomorrow in the EU. Both choices will cause headaches, but getting wasted would’ve been more fun.
(I do agree though that it’s questionable planning for a company this large to not have patches run on a fixed schedule. The patch should, by all rights, be ready to launch.)
It should have been ready since at least Monday or Tuesday. If planned good and safe.
I just find it odd that the response message as the day drags on remains “the game update will arrive sometime today”. Not to throw salt in their coffee, but that’s a bit impersonal (somewhat cold) and very uninformative stance.
Instead of replying the same thing over and over, why not just say what’s going on in the background, as I’m sure it’ll abate the hunger mass a lot more effectively than the current method would.
It sort of reminds me of Anet treating the constant enquirers like they’re the kids in the backseat. :P
Forums: “Are we there yet?”
ANet: “We’ll get there when we get there.”
Exactly THAT. They’ve handled it like this with every event so far. And this lack of “background news” was one of the biggest concerns from us players every single time. Did they learn from it? Apparently not.
I love the game, I really do. And I loved Jon Peters’ comments in the profession specific forums lately. But the team handling the patches and the PR….not so much.
1st of. That is an enjoyable picture.
Now, here’s what I don’t get.
“it will arrive sometime today”.
As far as I see it, there’s only two scenarios here;
1. You’re not done with the patch yet, (testing, tweaking, changes, what-have-you). But, how can you say sometime today then? You might find errors/bugs/whatever. How can you guarantee the patch today?
2. It’s already done. Finished – and ready to be pushed. But for some reason, I’m not going to speculate as to why, you decide to wait.
Not sure which one I hope/fear is right..
If it’s the 1st case, then I’d at least expect some news on the forums and/or twitter. “Sorry, we found 1-2 problems and want to get them fixed before we have to roll out another patch. Sorry for the inconvenience” bla bla.
Atleast give us the patchnote pls…
I want them too. But I don’t think we’ll see any patchnotes until the patch comes. And I’m starting to think that because with every event I get a stronger feeling that they are programming the patch right now. Ok, kidding.
But seriously ANet…patchnotes, pretty please? As a christmas present?
given they still do not know what time they can get this out today gives me chills, expect ALOT of bugs as they didnt give themselves enough time to fully test the final version (should have been ready 2-3 days ago with patch being today) to have only very minor hot fix type issues before sending out today…
I still want to doubt that, but as of lately (Halloween and Karka), I am beginning to question their project planning. It may even be the case that some problems occured and the original schedule got delayed by a few hours, but in that case they need better communication.
“Patch will hit the servers in roughly 6 hours tops.”, or something like that would suffice.
Seriously? A hedgehog?
But back to topic: a rough timeframe would be nice. For example for players in the EU, it’s a matter of “do I wait a bit to start downloading the patch or can I go to bed because it won’t happen until late at night?”
At least patch notes in advance would be nice.
Try 0/0/30/20/20 with cleric armor. Build with high survivability and still enough damage.
Really, if it takes them more than a couple of hours to fix the star issue something is seriously wrong with their development team.
Or with the code….
Farm the Karkas. With Feedback and Focus traited for reflection, and in addition with Mimic and Mirror, you have plenty of reflection skills. Just wait for the Karkas’ initial projectile attack and they nearly kill themselves.
Thief can do the shenannigans with his wire.
Berserker not doing the correct damage is known issue. We don’t know where this issue is coming from but I intend to solve it by the next build. 12/14/12
I know that seems a long time but it will be set back to viable. If you have good data on the damage it used to do to heavy target dummy vs what it does now that will help me track down the issue.
Thanks,
Jon
That’s all we want to hear. We know you guys are busy as hell (hopefully fixing a lot of bugs ), but a message like this is worth A LOT to us. Just promise is to keep this kind of communication up in the future.
Ok so its sounds like you could counter the summon delay by having a subset of traits. So we fixed a bug that lets all those triats work together but that also makes them not able to exploit the delay anymore. Since it seems like they were working and mostly balanced without the delay I am going to go ahead and reduce the delay on this stuff to .25 seconds. I just tested it at 0 seconds and that breaks some other things so I think .25 is the best compromise.
^ THIS! 10.000x THIS! This is exactly what we’d like to see more of. I’m not even talking about the change itself, but about the communication. Jon, this thread was handled exactly as it should’ve been handled. More of this please. Even the grey post worked, where it said that the issue has been forwarded to the team.
Keep at it
I’m still trying to figure out what the first sentence was supposed to say. In lure of…
I think the communication is actually typical for a MMO. They don’t have much to say, largely because there’s basically no bug fixes. If you’re moving at glacial pace, there’s no reason to keep updating us. You wanna hear weekly “still broken” “still broken” “still broken” … ?
Nope, it would suffice to say “We know about the problems, we’re going to fix this, this and that next, and this is what we’re planning to do. What are your opinions and are there any other issues we should look at while we’re at it?”. This would please A LOT of people.
I’ve said in another thread. It feels like that “When it’s ready” attitude :/ I could respect that then because the game was still in development. But with things as they are it feels like we’re back at the development stage…
Well, then it feels like alpha-stage. Introducing more bugs and more content instead of fixing bugs and freezing new content (which would relate to beta-stage).

I’m a Mesmer. So, I feel your pain.
In lure of the past weeks, I want to ask the other forums members if they are either satisfied or dissatisfied by the communication towards the customer base.
I for one am getting more and more dissatisfied. Especially regarding the communication in each profession’s specific subforum.
I think they hear it, the question should be: Why are they not communicating with us?
They never will. Us mere customers just can’t comprehend the changes. THEY do, WE don’t. ANet is turning into a religion, can’t you see it?
But seriously, they just don’t seem to learn. They kittened up the Lost Shores event big time, and for 99% the kittenup consisted of failing to communicate with their customers. It’ll be the same this time. And it’ll be the same for Winter’s Day.
I’m going to pull a Nostradamus here and say: Winter’s Day will be bugged as hell, the Winter’s Day update will contain further “fixes” (a.k.a. bugs) for every class except Warrior and Thief, and some Winter’s Day events will be blocked due to bugs. Plus: they will never apologize nor admit failure. Instead they will proclaim Winter’s Day a huge success and happily continue producing “new content” instead of fixing the kitten game.
I can safely say that Anet AGAIN introduced a new bug when fixing an old one. My Izerker is dead before he does anything half the time and thats with the fury trait.
Thanks for nothing. How do these things make it through the test ? or do they even test their patches I wonder.
Hahaha, testing…. on mesmers…. haha, good one. If anything, they only test Warriors and Thieves. “Hey, can you still faceroll kill people with your Thief?” “Yes, and you with your Warrior?” “Yes. So we’re good to go, release the ‘patch’.”
Hate to be a Debbie Downer, but really I just see that as “new content before improved content”.
I would much much much rather they said something, anything, about the few major issues as seen on the forums (for example, a party search that actually works), panic over the potential future of gear treadmills, t6 mat drops, and so on. New stuff is great, but it’s starting to feel like they’re ignoring the current playerbase, “w-what did you say? The concrete we poured for the foundation isn’t dry yet? But look at the beautiful backsplash we’re putting in your kitchen!”
Hopefully, new content doesn’t mean new bugs – this time around.This. I’d be 100000% more impressed and excited for class bug fixes, trait fixes/improvements and build variety as well as making old content actually worth playing more rather than getting new content where the old stuff just get’s completely forgotten and thrown away.
Purely my opinion, but their priorities just plain suck.
I second this. The amount of bugs (and sometimes how these bugs were produced) is astonishing. Instead of new content I’d really love to see more bugfixes, especially because I fear that the new content will introduce another pile of bugs.
Couldn’t even get it to spawn ONCE. But maybe it’s just a change we don’t understand and can’t appreciate yet </sarcasm>
Same here. Doesn’t spawn at all. Even in melee range
The support is there, it’t just the font that’s not supporting it. The encoding is processed correctly. They just need to change the font.
Changing the font to something that supports most languages can’t take that long. So please ArenaNet, fix it as soon as you can!
Same problem here. I’d love to play with my Japanese friends while being able to communicate properly with them.
