Still 8 new skills not counting an F5 as long as it a realty power house off hand kind of staff level effects fields etc.. it should be good. I could image calling down a ice storm on a target spot or on your self. I just hope the sounds are very unique and realty strike fear into ppl when they here them hehe.
We already have 2 skills that call down an ice storm…
We definitely should get signets as utilities.
I did daily tequatl before megaserver and we succeded every single day. Because we were one big organised group with exotic gear set (no ascended needed and never will be). Tripple trouble was posible as well before megaserver. You just have to want more. Then you will succeed and get your achivs.
To be honest, ascended gear is scaled to exotic in non-80 content (and even further in lower content).
We might not kill him in the expansion but that’s probably because the expansion is far from being finished (only few new legendaries when they promised them in 2013).
When I pay for 100% of the game I want to be able to do 100% of the content. Not 98% or in this case if we exclude all dungeons and fractals maybe 80%. If there was an option where I could pay for 50% of the game because I know I only can feasibly do 50% game should I go for that?
Tell that to Anet because people who are below 18 can’t participate in WTS.
You mean Diamond Skin? Cause it’s an anti-condition trait while Stone Heart is an anti-direct-damage trait.
Also, I wouldn’t say that Stone Heart is a passive trait. It’s mostly used to stop spikes and it is a conscious decision based only on your cooldowns which you are able to manage.
HEY EVERYBODY! This guy says Ele can’t do damage!
He’s saying you’re at best mediocre and not viable to deal damage! Can we confirm this now, that Elementalist is at most a pity spot in group content and can’t solo anything within a reasonable amount of time nor get decent kill ratio in PvP?
I’m not sure how you get no burst spec → can’t do damage. I’m literally flabbergasted.
And just because a focus could do what a warhorn can regarding skill use doesn’t mean it will do what the other does and vise versa. Actually, I would go so far as to say they most definitely will not do the same thing if we do happen to get a warhorn.
Obviously, you are right. Focus doesn’t give swiftness.
Why does everyone keep assuming an Ele sword will just be a standard melee hack ‘n’ slash? Has no one seen the Revenant staff? Many new weapons are being designed as the opposite of their traditional roles, so why do people assume ANet is going to break this trend with the Ele?
Personally I don’t like the idea of warhorn. I don’t like the idea of only getting two new skills, I don’t like the looks of warhorns in general, I don’t like the idea of having to replace the focus in PvE or the OH dagger in PvP, and in general I just want a new primary weapon. But that’s just my two cents.
Because only revenant gets unorthodox weapons. So far, all specs had weapons with standard functionality.
I’m just not that hopeful.
@ rotten: and theres a rule to give them not more? However by that logic it would mean, Forger gets it, because the Engineer is so far the only class with no signets.
That would be a precedent and a really brightful future for a spec. Warhorn plus signets, can’t say I’m salivating.
It’s been said on multiple occasion why people dislike warhorn. Also, elite spec weapons work normally, there’s no “u wot 8” reaction, it’s revenant weapons that are unortodox. I wouldn’t expect anything else then some kind of pbaoe skills.
So its totally possible, that ANet has changed their mind about Eles and Swords and changed it now to the also free Warhorn, cause thematically makes the Warhorn more sense for a class, that shoul call up several kinds of elemental storms and natural catastrophes like Snow Storms (Blizzards), Sand Storms (Schiroccos), Fire Storms (Infernos) or Rain Storms (Monsoons), Wind Storms (Typhoons) and lastly Thunder Storms (Tempests!!)
Ele has already firestorm, ice storm, lighning storm and sandstorm. And 3 of them in 2 versions.
Wasn’t also there the speech about an E-Spec that will receive 6 Signets? I think the best fit for that would be then the first Ele E-Spec with a Warhorn to call quickly their storms and control them via activating their signets in a special way, while profitating from various passive effects while you don’t use the storms so that you can concentrate yourself more on your weapon skills and elemental attunements more.
Ele already has signets.
Maybe they’ll rebalance scepter once warhorn comes? So we’re not stuck only with dagger mainhand.
…
Nevermind, who am I kidding?
It’s cooldown is 30s because call of the wild has 30s cooldown. If you take warhorn trait it is reduced to 24s.
You realise you’re going to use a shorter dagger with a warhorn?
The warhorn skin looks quite cool tbh and its really fitting a “tempest” theme.
Who cares about theme? It’s about functionality.
50 bucks for the expansion. Features, maps, and new things. You’re not paying $50 for the warhorn itself. Bruh.
It’s coming in the package for which I have to pay. It’s far from generous.
I’m excited about the possibility of Ele getting warhorn. I would like to see them make it main hand rather than offhand for Ele. How hard could that be?
Offhand only weapons have weaker weapon damage.
Looks like Meteorlogicus may get a bit more popular.
Scepter is an awful weapon of choice for eles in pve.
Generously added for 50 bucks.
Nah its not only that at all. That is like when everyone said might was the problem with cele and they nerfed might and it did nothing. Burning itself is too strong and the way elementalist in particular has to apply burning is broken. It has many repetitive burning skills
What about engies and guards?
That aside, you just make a list that ranges from pure bias to downright making crap up.
That’s a very logical argumentation. Please, maybe make your own list of how a decent weapon warhorn could be so we can be convinced.
What’s wrong with getting war horn?
I could make a long list but thankfully ele community is well aware of warhorn issues.
I keep hearing about people talk animations. You know, if ele really did get a sword, the animations would mostly be recycled anyway. Besides, it’s not all about character animation but also particle effects and sounds. I’m hoping if warhorn is a thing, the visuals will be fancy and portray a great force that big storms are.
What is wrong with getting a sword? That it’s probably a melee weapon? Imagine that with a warhorn, you are stuck with the only non-horrible mainhand that is actually a melee weapon. With sword you can at least pick between a focus and a dagger.
I don’t know if it’s actually OP or not (been playing Mesmer and Engi since the patch) but people used to never go into fire because you need water and arcana to survive. So even if you could blind someone, you’d still die easily.
Now you can take all the 3 lines and I’d wager that’s why the trait is being used now.
So basically, before the trait revamp, a profession was too fragile to run it?
I wonder how necros feel about this change since they were supposed to be the greatest condi class in the game.
I think you’re mistaking necros for engies. They were always superior and only losing a direct confrontation because of their inherent weakness against condies users and necros ability to transfer everything back to poor engies.
It’s amusing to hear that fire line “perma” blinds is OP since that trait hasn’t been changed since ever.
So what made it OP, OP?
It’s definitely easier for animation team.
No need to create anything since every single warhorn skill has the same motion.
For speed runs? Not a chance. Both dagger and scepter can’t compare to staff and getting a warhorn probably won’t help us.
More assasin gear/precision food is needed now for people that want to get 100%, even the ones with prec signet will need some changes (apart from warriors I guess, cause of the signet trait). Guardians will be ok with 1-handed weapons, but hammers and gswords are more appealing than ever now. And you lose out on the virtues or honor line if you go with radiance. On the other hand this does make ranger a bit more appealing.
But screw the meta and fiddling with crit chance, new Ursanway is here – https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/dungeons/Easy-mode-Team-comp-for-dungeons/
Wut? It was rescaled so you still have about 4% crit chance with base precision.
Dagger mainhand with sword offhand? That would be quite… unconventional.
Taimi – The little child asura?
Really now? >_>
Maybe asura grow faster than human. Who knows?
You KNOW at some point there will be an elite spec that gives Elementalists access to the warhorn. Now is no better or worse than later. Now may even be slightly better than later when they have more room to maneuver to deal with a conceptually tricky tool. And right now they are very interested in promoting Support specs, and warhorn is much more Support than DPS in most existing examples.
Ele has enough support, in fact it’s being “rebalanced” because it gives too much support.
You’re going to be so disappointed.
Homophobia and Transphobia doesnt exist in the DSM5
so I dont know what that is.. because its not a diagnosis. …
I think those terms are quite misleading. No one fears lgbt people.
1. put on zerker gear
2. yell at everyone how pro and meta you are
3. enter dungeon
4. turn off brain
5. abuse lack of character collision
6. nuke legendary foe
7. …
8. never care about patchnotes
You can remove point one with generic “put on exotic/ascended gear” and it would still be truth. Unless you believe dungeons aren’t a joke.
Heck, anet removed 8 dungeon merchants and combined them into one while at the same time they split black lion merchant. Tells a lot about anet attitude towards instanced group content.
Heh if you guys are just going to quit ele or even the game just because they didn’t implement the weapon you wanted (and not taking said weapon off the table), then it’s hard to say but I doubt the community would suffer losing you.
At least wait to see what it offers before raging. Sure, be upset, but to quit? Wow.
Saying you’re quit is certainly an overreaction. However, if you would learn that your profession is getting 8 new weapon skills whose all animations are the same (blowing horn) that says something about the attitude of anet developers towards that class.
I’m saying what is almost certain, mesmers got an awful offhand but to balance that out they got f5. Eles won’t get it (too much work to be done).
Moreover, most of the revealed elite spec utilities are bland. So far we got wells, traps and shouts.
Like someone said this perfectly, I was expecting nothing and I’m still disappointed.
I lost hope in Karl long ago.
No. Not really.
I do apologize for sounding combative earlier on this score, but this really is a matter of false equivalence. Your (and I mean this in the general usage, not specifically directed towards you) discomfort is not REMOTELY a good enough excuse to complain about someone else’s life choices.
The same thing goes with being gay, lesbian, black, asian, hispanic, Muslim, Jewish, or any other “minority” or “lifestyle” you wish to pick here.
I like how you put different races, religions and lifystyles in the same group, And how blacks, asians or muslims (arabs?) are “minorities”.
http://i37.tinypic.com/30m0391.jpg
US isn’t the only country in the world, there are far more blacks, asians and other “minorities” living in the world who are not that happy to put other “minorities” onto a pedestal (e.g. there are no minorities rights in those countries because minorities shouldn’t be treated better than the majority).
As karl is our main designer whatever spec we get will still be terrible. This why I plan on jumping onto another train.
Y u no believe in Karl?
To balance that out, ferocious winds is bugged and converts only your base precision (which means it always gives 70 ferocity).
The shield is glint-themed, which will probably be for the revenant’s elite spec.
The warhorn is wave/ storm-themed, and fits very well with the leaked elementalist’s artwork spec.
Datamined torch is ranger-themed and I’m pretty sure it’s not a torch for druids.
There are 6 weapons with “ascended” prefix in that datamine and they all are connected to elite specs:
Ascended Longbow → Dragonhunter
Ascended Shield → Chronomancer
Ascended Greatsword → Reaper
Ascended Warhorn → ???
Ascended Staff → Druid
Ascended Hammer → Engineer spec
So most probably, we will have another 3 elite specs released soon and those specs will be a druid, an engineer spec and some spec with a warhorn. That can be a thief, a revenanat or an ele (warrior already has warhorn skills). Out of those, only an ele had datamined sword (not confirmed) so I would put my money on a thief spec.
bursts out laughing
Yeah right. Dream on.
He doesn’t dream, he’s mocking your intelligence.
No, it’s because part of pre-purchasing is getting access to the betas and possibly other in-game rewards. So you’ll have got something for your money straight away (or at least when the next beta event occurs).
Nothing stops them from having a pre-order together with pre-purchase.
And if I don’t trust ANet to deliver a great product, they show me the middle finger instead of trying to win me over. That’s encouraging.
ANet has already annoyed a lot of players with their low-quality LS updates, stupid NPE and trait revamps and a multitude of other things. I haven’t played GW2 for months. I checked out the expansion, thinking maybe it’d be a good place to come back, but it’s “pre-purchase or go away”. Ok, I’ll go away, I suppose. Again.
It’s because Anet isn’t confident enough so they make you pay for the unknown product already, unlike a typical pre-order which you can simply cancel because you haven’t paid for it yet.
Anet devs stated multiple of times that HoT focuses on “foundations” rather than a typical content (even in the most recent ready up, Jon Peters repeated it). Which basically means it’s a paid feature pack (foundations are basically features) with some living story put on it.
Can’t blame them though, that’s what expansions are essentially. What is different is the usual ratio between new features and new content.
Change the topic to “Stop pushing the pre-purchase so hard”. Let’s be precise.
It never fails to amaze me when people think there is some correlation between how many blog posts are left and the release date. They can do 5 blog posts per week or none at all if they planned so.
I’m sure players would be grateful for skipping preview of some elite specs.
