Can we vote on this? ..or will a democratic vote not work?
How many posts have there been of people who would be offended by revisiting Cantha?
I only skimmed through that discussion, but it seams there were only two posts stating that they understand NCsoft logic behind that decision.
You say hammers are ugly/ boring? Try staffs. Either too small and they look like simple sticks or over-sized plain tops making them look like oar. Truth be told few look good and maybe two of them is great, but that is all.
Too bad that ever-changing home instance was one of the selling points of GW2. I already accepted that it will never be as advertise but fingers crossed for housing.
Too bad. Warbands are like close family(at least as I understand it), they should stick together till the end.
That is true, but not useful for everybody. If only there were more interesting supplies in exchange for skill points.
So that is what happened with Margoyls :P
I agree to some point. There should be more armors suited for specific classes but wearable by all. I mean, there should be some clearly necromancer or elementalist themed armors but if you want to dress your mesmer as scary necromancer be my guest. It can be used as deception against enemy players.
I looked for similar topics but with no luck so I decide to star a new one.
While traveling through Tyria I stumbled upon some outstanding greatsword and shield skins, some really good swords’ and bows’ as well. But when it comes to weapon like maces or staffs I’m underwhelmed.
As a necro player I can speak more about staffs. I know that main problem is lack of space on weapon where artistic team can put graphic effects. For example I bought recently T3 Warden Staff. It looked fine, nice blue something on a stick. Then I looked at sword, whole edge made of shimmering blue glass-like surface and I was envious. Don’t get me wrong, staff got some really nice skins but when compared to other weapon it comes a bit pale.
Similar thing with daggers. They ca be too small to add as much details as in swords, but they should have some other unique flavors instead.
Possibility to sit on chairs
As I recall from pre-launch reviews Anet was considering that approach but in the end decided not to. They want player to be the hero. I can’t blame them for that because going otherwise could rise age rating and made story telling much harder.
Truth be told I would like to see such idea implemented but as most people pointed out it is nigh impossible to incorporate it into current system while making it fair for everyone. Better is the enemy of the good in that case. Although small exp bonus for no other players in area may be it.
@ arrownin I died a bit inside
If that was true Charr would be unstoppable.
But a bit lore-wise. Thera was discussion that maybe all horses and other ride-able creatures went extinct along with Margoyls.
Three during last two days.
Who cares about that.
Baby Quaggan Backpacks, Baby Quaggan Backpacks for everyone
Good God Anet, do you really want me to sell my soul for gems? Because that’s what I will do to get that one :P
I must strongly disagree. First of all dyes in GW1 were for example on use only. You allied it on PART of armor and it was gone. Now when it’s character bound it’s much more fair. I can experiment with dyes all i want. If they were to became account bound dyes would loose its’ value and game will loose one of gold sinks.
About Necromancer lack of burst and escape mechanics Anet used “It’s not a bug, it’s a feature” philosophy, calling necro attrition based class. But with only a few mechanics to do so and upcoming unknown rework of AoE, it may be harder without any major buffs to play even that role.
For me it’s not enough. Truth be told I’m steampunk fan so my opinion is biased. I would live more weapons skins like “Steam” ones. Maybe less big parts but more smaller elements.
Like most I’m very grateful for implementing guesting. A bit shame about restrictions. While most of my friends are in UE servers I always liked visiting american servers in GW1, people there were really colorful bunch
Hope some day (year or so) guesting will be trans-continental. Fingers crossed.
@Ratphink Most likely. New bad joke would be handy, “L2P DS” is getting boring :P
As much as i would like make fun of the devs I have no idea what would heal Necromancer and I’m afraid neither do they. It is true that before nerfs in beta DS was powerful, hell necromancers were scary dudes back then :P That didn’t agree with devs idea about attrition class and they changed it in the last minut to what we see now.

I would love to see some Axe buffs, better minions AI is a must (my golem prefers fighting barrel instead of mob I’m fighting with).
@Nayru You might not found that out yet but you are playing in game i genre of MMORPG where RPG stands from Role Play Game. So i think that RPlayers are closer to really playing that game than you or me.
Some servers should be just considered RP-only or at least RP-friendly where breaking character would be not welcomed or bannable in extreme cases. Maybe even some 16+ servers for so we can stop worrying about every time we got excited?

Or, as it was proposed some time ago, give necromancers unique condition, maybe called “necrosis”. It can work just like bleeding but can be applied only by necromancers so no more (or at least less) problems with over-stacking.
//xev had similar idea few minust before me :P
I’m traveling with Steam Staff. It’s more like Laser staff in brass colors but it does trick for me, although yes, I would much appreciate more weapons(especially staffs) like that.
Maybe it would mean some race specific classes? Dervish only for humans, golemancer for Asuras etc. I think that can be a good twist.
Maybe not Fable like. I’ have enough problem fighting mobs I don’t want fight NPC spouse :P
But adding romantic storyline would give game more depth. Maybe some passive buffs in PvE for choosing one or another NPC to pursue. Like in Overlord – choosing Mistress gave your minions mounts.
I liked better idea behind minions from GW1 (creating from corpse etc.). But that about it. Applying Death Nova’s or Jagged Bones correctly was nigh impossible for human. If you wanted to play as Minion Master most of your skill were bounded to that idea. Only viable choice was making one of your heroes as MM.
As much as bugged AI gets on my nerve I think they are good thing for necros. Apart straight forward way of using them (I’d like some more tricky mechanics for MMs) I like traveling through Tyria with my minion escort.
First one is a feature, second one is a bug.
</irony>I would sell my characters soul for Hammer. Since I saw NPC necromancer with Ram Hammer in GW1 it was my dream
First of all I admit that most of my problems can be most likely answered with L2P.
I play mostly PvE and DS combos similar to one described by Karl were thing I was using for some time. One problem though. They nearly never worked on moving target. Dark Path really tracks target? That’s a huge surprise. Mine were missing even when mob made one step left. Not to mention random inequality of land or tree appearing. Slow projectile was useless unless I was on a plain field.
Moving on. Thank You Jonathan for description of design philosophy behind Necromancers. I think it fits them nicely. I must say though that attrition for Necros wasn’t working too good for me in PvP. Truth be told I play PowerCrit Necro inspired by one of earlier developer’s reviews describing Necromancer as takny scholar :P Right now enemies couldn’t care less if I try to prevent them from running away. Some of them have no problem with that(Thieves, Elems) other simply have no need (Warriors, Guardians). Necros as attrition based class is great thing but most of skills and traits don’t let us (or at least me :P ) to be on equal footing wot other classes.
I’m so sad that I took Skritt story instead of Quaggan one. One of my biggest mistakes in GW2 :P
I agree, Skritts are cool but they are not Quaggans. To tell the truth Skritts with their hive mind-thingy a bit freak me out :P
As much as it sounds interesting the synchro-dances during would be kitten hard to pull of after such change.
sry but -1.
If not for bugs after going into that dungeon I think that was a good mini-event. I would like more like that. It’s both amusing and I will not QQ too much when I miss it.
I cannot comprehend why you are getting so worked up. Beginning of act 3 won’t contribute to any title. I don’t remember where is that dev response but I read it something like two days ago.
I most likely would be unable to attend and it is a shame but maybe other events would be hosted for other timezones as well.
I love idea of one time event, it would give some feeling of uniqueness for that attending. If it will be played right it can be something great for few instead of sth good for many. I can live with not being among them but cheers for lucky ones
It was celebrated simply Mad King wasn’t appearing since 250 years.
Early twenties and as for now loving it but I didn’t reach lvl 80 nor Arach yet. Will see how it ends.
Maybe not exactly on a topic but is that only me or Vigils light armor is kind of lame? Well at least when put next to Order’s and Durmand’s one.
You have ever seen night in GW2 because they are so bright. You can tell night from day only by looking directly into the sky. Shame there are no additional shadows or any more visible effects during nights.
I think lore-wise it’s logical that in DS we can’t Revive allies. Well it is called Dead shroud for a reason. Stomping on the other hand would give us to big of advantage, cause it would give us more time /life during stomp. Sometimes I got downed while stomping other downed player. That gave his teammates more time to help him.
I can side a bit with Bruno on that one. I chose Vigil as my order but only later I learned that their light armor looks the way they looks while Priory’s and Orders’s are very good looking. Maybe quest in which our order sends us to negotiate with other orders and we temporary join other “teams”?
I haven’t seen other Legendaries in action but I think that greatswords are worth their price.
They are great if you want to troll people. Flower bow can be good for Sylvari. Maybe they will make thorn version like they did with greatswords (twilight/sunrise).
<offtopic>
Now imagine gloomy necromancer with rainbow making Bifrost
There was disscusion before launch of first BWE that maybe some skills will work differently during day/night. Of course that would be pain in the neck to balance but idea is cool.
So great idea but also so impossible :P
I may be looking at GW1 through nostalgia goggles as you say as well, but I think first game at least tried to have plot twists. White Mantle being bad guys return of Rurik as undead even betrayal of Vizier. Truth be told other stand-alone expansions were really strait forward with less engrossing characters kitten stupid Kormir.
I’m not saying that GW1 was greatest RPG ever, but for MMO standards plot of Prophecies was one of the kind. To this day I like to nostalgia trip to Pre-Searing Ascalon.
And for characters accompanying with story there was that team of NPC’s: Dveona, Mehnlo etc witch helped player feel as part of the world.
I like idea of hidden events. It may be harder to play them but I think that it will add flavor to game and be rewarding for dedicated players.
I play axe/dagger and swap with staff. For a while I’m going typical power/crit. Maybe not the best build but I like idea of book-worm scholar suddenly attacking mobs with blooded chopper
As you can guess I use axe more because of look of it than because of it usefulness.
I agree.
For the first week of the game I thought that there were no day-night cycle.
I mus look specifically into sky to see that something changed, even shadows are the same as in day-time.
Queen Jennah could support Lion’s Arch all she wanted. It’s like Queen of England supporting Canada. Is Canada obliged to attack enemies of Great Britain? No.
You can sign a “peace treaty” but keep in mind, all it is is a piece of paper. Something I never understood from history. In Kessex (not sure exactly where) there was a centaur emissary in the Lion Guard outpost but the dialogue between the centaur and the Lion Guard members reeked of suspicion, passive-aggressiveness, and ulterior motives. That’s what I got out of it, anyway.
I agree. It made me think about centaurs as 100% untrustworthy race. Why, after introduction of Ventari and centaurs from Elona we have only evil centaur tribes. Not even one neutral or at least trying not to fight humans too often.
It still astonish me how people who made such incredible legendaries like Sunrise and Twilight could make flower and rainbow shooting bows.
Where I can find Bifrost animation? And yes, I googled it before asking here.
To tell the truth I got hard time killing centaurs ant hyleks. They too much resemble native americans (although centaurs take slaves). I felt really conflicted when we were raiding hylke village. Truth that they will attack humans without remors, but destroying their homes in which may have been hidden non-combatants just doesn’t sounds right.
</offtop>I think that treaty is foreshadowing (hopefully) of possibility for centaurs from elona to by a playable race in future expansions.
