Definitely signed if Scarlt’s backstory of lack of therefor remains on same level.
As it was mentioned nearly all of problems(at least mine) with that annoying character would disappear if we were given chance to see her “genius” in action. Maybe in form of new fractal. Imagine this:
We are transported in past and take form of some nameless mooks helping forge Flame Alliance alongside Scarlet. Players believing they are reliving past events just go with it. In the end we find out that Scarlet knew who we were all along(thanks to her Mist related backstory) and WE are ones responsible for all events that came to happen in Tyria. Not only we would be able to see Scarlet in action, maybe learn something about her goals or at least see how she/we managed to get two different factions together.
Scarlet is not a bad character, she is extremely lazy designed. She is in a way emulating Personal Story of player character – bringing different factions into a Pact to fight common threat. For us it was Zaithan for her it can be Pale Tree. Maybe we see some nice connections between those plotlines.
Too much is unknown about her to make her even remotely interesting and that what we know doesn’t help.
First of all I admin I’m casual player who only occasional joins WvW. My input is not based on any actual testing, only on gut’s feeling.
I don’t understand why people, even among necro community dislike Dhuumfire so much. True, it doesn’t make sense lore wise but as a skill is first thing we can say is useful for Necro. While I read from links provided from Flow, it seems everybody went “Necro can do sth now – let’s nerf it”. Dhuumfire is good, powerful even in right hands, but it’s not like burning can’t be cleansed. 3 second of burning in right moment can be crucial but than anything can be. We were told to learn how to DS to appreciate it, why others can’t learn how to deal with burning?
Necromancer:
_For the necromancer, we felt that a few traits and skills were too powerful,
That one made me laugh.
Well, I must have missed update when we got something OP. Dhumfire is powerful but is it so over the top? I don’t play much, but that was first changed trait I was 100% content about. Did that one thing made us so impossible for other classes to handle?
That’s not why MLP fans don’t like Bronies, BTW. It has to do with being sexist, racist, homophobic and pretty kittening awful behavior that shouldn’t be discussed on a family friendly forum.
Bronies came to be on 4chan, it’s where the term came from. It’s a great series but a lot of us really don’t like Bronies and what they did to Pinkiepony kinda was the last straw.
I have no idea what happened to Pinkiepony, sry.
Well, you and I must visit other parts of internet. While a bit sexist bronies I know are everything but that what you described. All I can connect with their movement is petition to restore kitten y to her original form and battle cries like “I’ll love and respect heck out of you!”
We must agree that 4chan while being….let’s say weirdly entertaining, gathers specific type of people. 4chan recognized that movement as a thing, in it’s own creepy and offensive way. It’s true that 4chan coined that name but they didn’t created movement itself.
TL:DR Please don’t put 4chan and bronies in same bascet.
It has nothing to do with “nerd” fandom.
Ok, let’s say geek fandom, “nerd” term (in my huble opinion) is connected more to computer related interests. You may be right, although I think Bronies weren’t created because that a trend but because new series are simply fun to watch :P

I didn’t played that new path yet. Do you mean that Scarlet and Nightmare Court now work together?
You can love FiM and not be a Brony :p
Yes, if you are a girl/woman. Than you would be called Pegasis.
I think dislike from one nerd fandom for another fandom for being, let’s say, unusual is like pot calling the kettle black.
Also vote Discord for new ruler of Tyria
I’d love to see Canach joining Braham and Rox
Best idea since discovery of internet :P Canach as token evil teammate cound be great source of snarky comments and maybe some dark humor. Nice spoil to over the top heroic characters we meet so far.
No, please no. Don’t ruin best thing we got resembling anti-hero by mixing him with likes of Scarlet. I would personally chose Canach as ally/nemesis over her any day. Also like that was pointed out, his personal philosophy is different, but like Eatherblades he can be forced to work for her. It can end with him helping us, maybe with his heroic sacrifice as a result.
I like that event but landing on overflow with less than 30 players most of the times is frustrating. That’s the only thing that rubs me the wrong way.
I think short stories are welcomed addition. I didn’t like fact that we must search for lore outside the game to know what is going on but I like that they are trying to help us understand the world.
A propos divinity and gods, maybe not much of addition, just my thought in that matter. In advance I’m sorry for drawing a parallel to real world, I myself don’t like such behavior too much. For me Six, final fall of Abbadon and exploits of player characters from GW1 are treated in GW2 world in similar fashion like for example Christianity and first coming of Christ. Some believe it happened, some things it’s just a fairy tale. With one exception. We as players actually saw all of that things happening, we 100% sure of their existence, hell we talked with Six.
It was told few times already, I also think that during story less human-centric creators overcompensated. Humans as loosing race is interesting twist but making them wrong about most of world’s cosmology is a stretch.
A propos Elder Dragons being stronger/weaker than Six. I believe magic consuming dragons are something like Krypronite for magic fueled gods. Is kryptonite stronger than superman? No, it’s just glowing rock. Can it kill him? Very much yes.
Arguing about godhood of the Six is without a point. For lore standpoint they are gods or even Gods. Beside Spirits of the Wild and maybe Great Dwarf there are no other creatures of that power magnitude. Beside that as Konig wrote: Devs said so.
If there is introduced power greater than Six we can argue about their Godhood. Now we don’t have enough information.
I see it being on the same fundamental level as the Weave in WoT, or the moral balance of certain eastern religions. An Asuran might disagree with that interpretation, but it does seem to have some level of direction to it.
Eternal Alchemy is not a religion nor philosophy per se. Its more like philosophy meeting mathematics meeting theory of everything. Asuras got machines using concepts of Eternal Alchemy.
One last thing. Wasn’t Lyssa called also Goddes of Beauty and Mayhem?
Those changes might be interesting. I must say I’ll be for ever grateful for better AI for minions.
Although reading official discussion under that changes there was mentioned that necros are OP in WvW together with Warriors. Is it true?
Still not interesting enough. Lord of the Rings apart of orks and Uruk-hai got Sauron, Saruman and many other minor villains. Hell, Sauron as a giant eye was more interesting character than most villains in GW2.
One question. Minister Caudecus, is he villainous character or just political adversary of Queen? I think he can become interesting anti-villain/hero.
I made similar rant few days ago
Every story needs heroes. We like them, or at least we are told we should like them, because they are good or just because they are heroes (I’m looking at you Trehern and Kormir). But story need also villains. They got it harder, because to be compelling they actually need to be interesting. And that’s a point where GW2 is seriously lacking. We have Dragons, but they are just forces of nature. Tsunami given shape of dragon. Bandits and other factions evil for the sake of being evil are boring. Centaurs are like xenophobic indians(native americans) without any redemption values. Only interesting antagonists so far (in my humble opinion) were Dredge and Canach. First got quite tragic backstory being slaves for Stone Summits. It’s kind of understandable that they overreact on any attempt of outside influence. Canach is extremist with a cause. He got his own twisted agenda, but he is more force of self-serving and moral gray area than force of evil like Scarlet. Now what I think about Scarlet. For me she is copy-paste Duella Dent. For those unfamiliar with DC comics imagine steam-punk dressed female Joker. Like it was pointed out in other topic, she is villain sue.
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/livingworld/speech/Is-Scarlet-a-Villain-Sue-Merged
And villain sue is usually boring and lazy design.
So to sum up, I believe GW2 needs more interesting, multidimensional villains for it’s stories. It can only help.
@TheZeus You definitely never played “I wanna be the Guy”
First time I hear that Tribunal Mode is supposed to be fun. It suppose to be hellishly had from what I heard. It’s plain challenge with prestigious award. Not for everyone. Not for me definitely :P
If you want to have fun, Normal Mode is for you.
I didn’t like fountain. Lion was ok, as it is symbol of the city but rest was weird.
It’s High Fantasy game in Crapsack World aaaaaand it just don’t works out. Flame and Frost had good idea but presentation wasn’t immersive enough. I dare to say that Southsun Cove living story was darkest part so far. People forced to work after signing unfair contracts, powerless law keepers, and to all of that antihero/antivillain commanding giant Krakas.
My emphasis was on that more avid players deserve better gear. If they can muster time to gain necessary materials why not let them. We need to keep in mind that difference between exotic and ascended is not game breaking.
Why? Now go back about what they said about legendaries and your statement goes against everything they said. In fact they sold the game under “skill not gear”
In fact in competitive environment 10% (ascended gives much more) is HUGE.
Why what? Why somebody who plays more deserves better gear, than casual gamer like me? To show off , to reward for commitment. I would be disappointed if somebody who plays less than me got better items(now I’m not talking about buying via market).
They told what exactly? I must say I don’t remember to which statement you are referring.
About selling points. One of them was home district changing alongside our adventure. I’m still waiting on that :P Some thing change, some get sidetracked. Maybe they decided that gear progression is what players want.
Huge, but not game breaking. I don’t think it’s so easy to distinguish tier of armor in for example WvW (I rarely do PvP). Maybe with introduction of duels problems would arise.
I on the other hand don’t mind changes. Hell if somebody play more than me, he deserves to have better stats than me. It’s not USSR where everybody is equal. If it’s in form of ascended gear I’m fine with that. Those things will be account bind so no pay to win also (some of ingredients will be buy-able but not all of the).
So legendaries are P2W.
Yes
Want to hear it from him since he went to elaborate how its “not P2W” without putting much thought in it.
Doubt well hear from him again though

Pretty much. Most people are annoyed about Ascended gear not Legendarily items. I like idea of legendaries, idea of them being sold on market not so much.

That was plan in the beginning of GW2, one of selling point even. Too bad it’s not priority anymore. Something like Hall of Monuments will be nice addition for sure.
My pug got wiped few times at Fizz’s lab. We didn’t get past him and although we didn’t win I liked every minute of that fight. It was different, hard(for me), but not boring. Truth, I don’t like golem pulls but it forces players to pay attention to surrounding (in which I fail miserably :P). Maybe other mechanic, some kind of snarr?
Nice armor sets and all, but why male light looks like creators just did run out of ideas. I love steampunk genre and it was my hope to have character in dressed according to that theme but srsly, any first time homemade steampunk cosplays looks like that one (apart from shoulder piece. Shoulder piece is cool).
ditto.
I’m still downloading patch so I’m in the dark, please elaborate.
Wings looks kind of meh but fingers crossed for Shattered Dragon Wings. Horn(y) helmet is not for everybody but can work with some armors.
I doubt that. Most of them are Group Events undoable if not for zerg provided by living story happening. Maybe if they tone them down a bit.
The thing is, that ship had Black Lion Emblems on sail. Maybe covert Consortium ship, but there was idea on forum that, that ship was used by BL to spy on consotrium’s endeavor.
Sunken ship is overgrown with sea flora. I think it’s at least “Lost Shores”-old.
Just a few days ago there was Black Lion ship just next to Pearl Islet. After patch it disappeared. There is some story behind it or just omission. What do you think?
I just died 3’rd time during Canach mission because of lag. 2 lags and one DC to be exact. I just wanted to ask is that just my kitten connection or some other players got similar issues?
@ Rhaps Maybe will appear with Karka Queen?
@Papish What armor is that?
I didn’t play Crab Toss yet but in near future it may happen. While whole thing lacks proper way to immerse players into story I must agree that it’s really enjoyable. Maybe it’s nothing but I had so much fun going with bunch of players and hunting Veteran Karkas. Achievement with swimming goggles made my day
Isn’t that written on wiki pages regarding meta-bosses?
Indeed, Cristoba’s is best so far. Sylvari+ Sclerite Karka Shell. Hell, he looks scarier than most bad guys in game :P
On the begging I must say i really like Sclerite Karka Shell backpack. It’s first one that remotely fits my necro main. Truth be told I wouldn’t mind if shell part was a bit smaller compared to tentecle part, but that’a a minor thing. My suggestion is that maybe if that one gets update or new similarly themed one appears, tentacles get more animations. For example while in water I would love to see tentacles trying to help swim as well. Maybe while fighting tentacles will try to grab opponent (ofc only animation-wise). What do you think?
I think that topic would be useful to keep track of event.
I wasn’t able to witness all of them. I wouldn’t even aware of Cancha involvement if not for that discussion.
During first few days I got only one crate. I started farming something like two days ago and more than 4 crates droped. I think either slight chance increase or just events mobs don’t drop crates :P
@duckcheeps: Your thing nearly gave me heart attack :P
Also, was Alliance defeated? we only destroyed some testing facilities, important infrastructure but not essential. I think that it’s natural that they around. Moreover I think that old dredge and Flame Legion Characters should be updated to reflect changes in politics of that factions.
Thank you

Bug(I think) i encountered:
During “Defeat the riot-instigating settler” quest boss put players on fire. Although “\burning” applied by him cannot be removed with Consume Condition. It can be moved with Putrid Mark or signet.
Now question to fellow necromancers. Is it bug or feature?
A propos that problem. It would be good if there was similar recap on wiki. On GW wiki there is summerized whole story of campains and missions incorporated in Guild Wars: Beyond project. It would be harder for one time events but maybe Anet can help with that(some day).
Where I can find translations of warning signs from Southsun Cove? I remember reading some translation of such signs from Lions Arch.
I didn’t listen to podcast yet, so my opinion is based just on game.
I can’t shake impression of Braham being a bit whining baby. Everybody had their hands full during attack of molten alliance and he still insisted on sending additional troops in the field. Truth be told other character could explain him that, but still he didn’t strike me as much of a long-term-plan kind of guy.
Rox despite being a bit generic is more interesting. She is focused on task, she understands what is happening around her. I think I liked her character more.
Wouldn’t it be interesting to transfer, in some way, bonuses gained by WvW exp into PvE? Something like Power of the Mists but on smaller scale. Of course it would be downgraded in compression to WvW bonuses to avoid breaking balance of game. What do you think?
