[DIS] and [TTC]
Tarnished Coast
@Indo – I think you take all this stuff far too seriously.
My first post had no negative comments and was simply stating something I had heard over mumble. Now, posting some silly drama that happened on TC and assuming all of us think our server is idiot-proof is kind of silly isn’t it? The fact is, our server is a unique community. I don’t need to state the reasons for this. In some ways, it makes us one of the best servers in the game. There are some disadvantages as well. Still, even with those, we managed to get this far. I think you lack perspective.
Rumor is that the last two days before it closes, a lot of guilds are moving on to BG for some payback for all the guilds that transferred to SoR. Guess all is fair and war.
Should be an interesting Tier 1. I’m perfectly happy to be right where TC is. Love my server.
If that’s the case, you’ll have to love your server in T3 or below. But yes you are right, it will be interesting either way.
I do love my server, T3 or below. We fight no matter what. Don’t forget, a couple weeks ago, our two servers were neck and neck. We all know why that changed, and it isn’t because you suddenly got better than us. Its the game. Thankfully, in two days, that will become less of a factor and these things will stabilize. If that means we end up in a lower tier, that is where we belong.
The difference in our two servers is that we have a LOT of small guilds. We also have some fantastic and skilled big guilds. We don’t have enough big guilds to organize all maps and pack the punch you folks do now that you have all those transfers. Your server has many large guilds, some of who are extremely good at organization (note: FEAR response times last night were almost supernatural).
We don’t really care so much about being in Tier 1 that we will screw up our community. I’m sure some of our folks are very competitive and it kills them. The fact that SoR has kept a pretty tight community even after the transfers is a good sign for your chances in T1 (but your community is not at all like ours – your post is evidence of that). You shouldn’t get overconfident though, and trust me, some of you guys sound a little too overconfident . Also, if you have just one loss, some of those bandwagons are going to be awfully upset. Lucky they won’t be able to bail for free now.

Oh hell yeah. I’ll be happy to.
Do you have something to prove to me? or just this thread, because i’m not sure how me beating your butt in a fight would prove that TC zergs (at least the one in EB right now) are poor and sloppy to allow one person to cause so much damage to there push attempts.
Are you sure you can do that? I mean, you won’t have 30+ people backing you up or be standing behind a siege. I’ll be happy to meet you later this week after all the fun, perhaps Thursday night. Maybe some mutual respect can be had. Now, I’ve got some work to do. By the way, I’m not in EB, but some of my guildies are.
Oh hell yeah. I’ll be happy to.
My opinion is based on the numerous posts by you on these forums, and not just this thread, where you act like a complete idiot. That, and the screenshot you posted with the “playful banter.”
See that right there was angry post..
Calm down :I
I’m perfectly calm and stating my opinion. Some folks should just learn to play the game without all the childish ribbing and chest beating. If he’s a commander, he’s not impressing me.

Huh. I’m calm, nothing in my posts indicate otherwise. I’m just calling him out on poor behavior. There are some surprises in store for you guys.
@Ascii – Very good. Thank you for making your community proud.
I’m tired and can’t press any more buttons tonight. Had my Norn mesmer out there and it was fun in TC BL. Yes, I said Norn mesmer. You did not misread this. Close your eyes and relax. When I count to 10 you will wake up and think you are a chicken. Because you are now my chicken, you will be fed to my pet wolf, whom I affectionately named Rolf.

I don’t know what it is about the jumping puzzle, but when I enter it, I feel like I’m in the movie Goonies. Above me are a bunch oh campers, drool coming down their mouths, and they are jumping around making weird happy sounds when they knock someone off. I see their faces and they all look like different versions of “Chunk.” A voice in my head tells me, “Leave those Chunks alone. They are having too much fun to be bothered by the likes of you.” I leave right away.
This video of a SoR thief was taken by a transfer sent to spy.

Score update from SoR triple the score of the 2nd place team!
Seriously, given the circumstances this week, I don’t think we care about the score at this point. :P
@Mishi
I respected everything until you fed us until this last paragraph about none of the guilds moving saying anything about wanting to win. Seriously? Be honest. They want to win. If they wanted a community, they would join just about any other server below tier 2.

Sceptus, these stories are awesome. Keep writing them. They give me a unique vision of whats happening in WvW while I’m at work.
Will do!
The Battle of Champion’s Demise – Part 2
“You know, Erk, you can make a poison bomb out of all natural components? You don’t have to rig a Rallian head to do it.” Sceptus suggested. The Charr looked offended.
“Come now my serious friend! This is far more fun. Just imagine the indignation, confusion, and anger as this head rolls in front of our enemies, spewing forth its destruction! Vulkus is a—” The Charr stopped short as his eyes widened and he reached his claws out to push his friend aside. Sceptus stumbled in confusion, hoping the Charr hadn’t tired of his good heart. His hopes were confirmed as a stream of arrows flew through the spot he had been standing in previously. “Duck and cover!” The Charr yelled as he went for cover.
Howls of battle emerged from the treeline as two Rallian humans charged into the camp. One carrying a bow, clearly a Ranger, and the other wearing spiked armor wielding a gigantic hammer nearly as tall as himself. Their fury unmistakable as they charged the engineers.
Sceptus rolled forward using his shield, evading a swing from the hammer Warrior that would have felled trees and split hillsides, drawing his pistol with his other hand and spinning to meet the next attack. Out of the corner of his eye he saw Erk Muss downing a couple potions.
The Charr smiled with glee, raising his flamethrower while pressing a small button on its handle. A fireball spit out with a loud bang and arched into the startled ranger’s body. Erk pulled the trigger on the weapon and rushed his opponent, turning the poor Rallian into a pile of screaming, dripping flesh. He tensed as he heard Sceptus grunt in pain.
The Norn engineer had taken a knee on the ground and raised his shield over his head to block a jumping overhead two-handed hammer strike from the warrior. The shield buckled on his arm and broke in two pieces. Sceptus shook out the numbness in his arm, a snarl on his face.
“That was my best shield, you son of a Dolyak.” He said while pulling a large wrench from his tool belt. He spun it in his hand much like the pistol earlier. He rolled under another hammer swing and smacked the warrior on the bridge of his nose with the wrench. Grinning as he was awarded a sickening crunch, and a startled yelp from the warrior, he dropped his pistol and pulled a huge magnet and pointed it at the warrior. The Rallian flew through the air into the magnet and fell to the ground in a heap. Sceptus bashed him repeatedly with the wrench until the helm caved and blood oozed from the enemy’s helmet. He stepped back, wiping the sweat from his head with the arm still holding the bloody wrench.
“Uh… Sceptus?” Erk said as the Norn looked over at his friend questioningly. He followed his friend’s view to see fifty Rallion soldiers charging across the bridge towards the camp. He sighed, and then stood to his full height, ready for battle. Erk Muss walked over to stand at his side, ready for the wave of death to approach.
“Aint no Thang.” The Charr said with a toothy smile.

The Battle of Champion’s Demise – Part 1
The supply camp overseer grunted in pain as she fell to her knees at the feet of the two Tarnished Coast engineers. Her armor fused to her skin by the intense heat, and a single hole between her eyes trailed smoke. As she fell flat-faced into the dirt, the engineers moved into the camp, checking for additional enemies.
The Norn Engineer spun his pistol and shoved it in its holster in one fluid motion. He hung his shield from his back and moved forward to kneel at the overseer’s body, his blonde hair blowing in the smoke-filled breeze of the battlefield. His ice blue eyes narrowed as he shut the eyelids of the fallen enemy. He muttered his prayer.
“Here I lie
The same I fell at first.
Give me anything but apathy or love and curse.
Waiting for my soul to stir
And wake, rejoice, and come alive again.”
The other engineer stepped forward. A striped Charr wielding a heavy flamethrower, his fangs wide in a smile, like a Cheshire cat. Only his red eyes betrayed his true emotion. Concern for his friend.
“Aww. Aint no thang, Sceptus.” He said as he watched the Norn’s strange ritual of honoring a fallen enemy. He looked down at his hairy clawed feet, not knowing what else to say, his ears fidgeting nervously. The Norn grunted and stood. Eyeing his friend, Erk Muss of The Tarnished Coastguard. The poor Charr had very little understanding of his sorrow in taking a life. The race of warriors lived for battle, and a death by war was the highest honor. Still, Sceptus would consider no being a greater friend than the great Erk. Always a smile on his face and a joke rolling from his fanged mouth the next moment. The Norn nodded once and turned to study their captured camp.
“Right then. Let’s setup some defenses to the north near the bridge. Do you have any mines left over from the last skirmish?” He asked as he looked over his own supplies. The charr pulled his gigantic backpack to the ground and began sorting through its contents.
“Hrmm. Huh huh hmmm.” He said as he looked at the various explosives and weapons. “Ah! Yes, one trip mine. Oh and this too this too!” He spoke excitedly, his grin wide as he pulled a Rallian head from his bag. “Vulkus said the head wasn’t much good for powering his golems so he created a very nifty poison bomb for me!” Sceptus raised an eyebrow. The necromancer of the ‘guard. What a pathetic and evil creature. To think he was also Norn. He must surely be a servant of The Dragon, he thought as he looked on the Charr’s despicable new weapon.
I agree with OP. Server transfers has never been a problem. Most hardcore WvW players agree on this. Most of the people who complain about it are casual players.
The server balance has been getting better and better… why fix something that’s not broken? and ruin it in the proccess?
Are you serious? Most wvw players? If anything the truth is the complete opposite. If you are a kitten that enjoys an easy transfer-win, sure I guess it’s bad. For everyone else, it’s about time…
Vulkus Thay demands more flesh for his golem creations.
ya, whats so different from T1?
It is T2?
I have only one thing to say. Where is everyone?
If they put gear progression into the game that affects WvW, I think you will see a lot less people playing.
Anyhow, great game this week to all servers. Last night was a blast.
I don’t think anyone ever explained why TC are nicknamed “Zombie coast”
Am I missing something obvious?
We call ourselves that sometimes since a few weeks, after someone (from CD?) said that we are like zombies: even when you kill us 10 times, we always come back!
The term was given to us from Blackgate as a sign of respect for our tenacity. Win or lose, we keep coming to fight.
The Jagged Horror hobbled forward to deliver another enemy head to its beloved master. Perhaps this one would finally please him. The little demon hoisted the Rallian head high and slowly approached the Necromancer.
“Master. I have another head from the pile of Rallian corpses.” It croaked as it arrived at the foot of the table. It looked up in adoration at Vulkus, presenting the material as requested. The Necromancer was hard at work on his latest creation. A Flesh Golem made from the pieces of fallen enemies. The only piece missing, a suitable head.
“Ah, Mavrokclek. Let’s see what you have there.” His master said as he reached for the head. The little demon stood back and wrung its hands nervously as the master studied the grisly material in detail. “Perhaps. Just perhaps.” The master began chanting in a language the demon knew was from the lowest pits of hell. Adapting the Rallian head for the fleshy construct.
Not far away, and outside the necromancy workshop, two Tarnished Coastguard soldiers stood waiting for their necromancer ally. Kendrick Duskomen, ranger and one of the Coast’s greatest commanders. The Anchor Knight, Thrumdi, guardian and captain of the Coastguard. Both waited impatiently for Vulkus to finish his precious creation.
“It appears our friend has nearly completed his Golem.” Thrumdi spoke in a quiet, deep voice, filled with wisdom. He had watched with distaste as the little Jagged demon delivered the Rallian head to the necromancer. The words of power echoing out of the little cabin workshop sent shivers down the big Norn’s spine.
“Let’s hope so. Madember has requested The Tarnished Coastguard’s presence to bolster the next attack in Rallian territory.” Kendrick, the leader of the guard, hung his longbow from his back and looked over to the cabin.
“I’ll swallow your soul! I’ll swallow your soul! I’ll swallow your soul!” A high pitched voice squeaked from the workshop. Kendrick thought it sounded like a talking chicken. There was a loud crash, followed by cursing from the necromancer. The jagged horror dashed out of the cabin in fear.
“Imbecile!” They heard Vulkus scream. “Bring me a head with a larger brain! This one wouldn’t power a baby chimp!” He yelled. The two solders ducked as the window of the cabin exploded and the Rallian head flew out and rolled through the dirt. Kendrick paled. Thrumdi turned to look at the ranger.
“Guess we wait a little longer.” He mused. The ranger shrugged and began to oil his newest axe.
“Unless you want to tell Vulkus we will leave without him.” The ranger joked. Thrumdi looked at the workshop with a frown. When he looked to Kendrick again, he shook his head, no. “As I thought.” Kendrick added with a smile.

Vulkus tosses another medal in the trash bin.

Hello,
Would a member of the SoR community, commander or leader of VNG (Vengeance) please send me a private message?
Thanks!
@Hoots Medals bags farm! Farm metals bags! Bag medals farm! Farm bags and also lets not forget MEDALS.
So there!
Tactical error in SoR BL, SBI. The attack on the Vale was a mistake.
If you aren’t going to fix it, at least move the freaking karma vendors somewhere else. :P
Finally, there is a thief from TW who runs a circuit in the BLs to keep certain areas contested. To you sir, I say good job and may you rot in hell for your skills. Seriously – good job you little asuran word filtered for good sportsmanship.
/wave
I will say, you guys keep me on my toes. I think my favorite time was the previous week when there were a couple people randomly firing cannons and mortars just trying to mess up my approaches. Definitely made it more entertaining.
Nice to meet you. /salute
Last time posting for me in this thread since tomorrow is reset. Good game to all SoR and BG. It has been challenging. It has been fun. Always both and never neither.
P.S. I like the Tempest Wolves. They have good strategy and are highly organized. I just thought it would be nice to give credit where credit is due. Finally, there is a thief from TW who runs a circuit in the BLs to keep certain areas contested. To you sir, I say good job and may you rot in hell for your skills. Necro here. The only thief that even puts a dent in me is pistol/dagger. I can literally just spam scepter autoattack and go into deathshroud when needed. Finally, corrupt boon and that thief is doomed. Just saying, my build is bunker, so yeah. Necros do have problems, but thieves aren’t my weak point. Mesmer and d/d ele are much harder. A skilled thief is a tough opponent for anyone. Fortunately, there are very few of them.
P.S. Not that I don’t think Rangers and Necros don’t need some love. They do (depending on build).

SoR player female sword and shield [Fate] just north of water supply area in TC BL just now…
Laugh all you want. I think we know who really won that fight.
Hehehe. I gotta say, pretty classy.

For some Blackgate players:
I honestly do not know why Blackgate server want to ruin their reputation leave T2 with such a bad impression. It has been fun all along, fair play was there until Tarnish Coast joined T2. For some unknown reasons you are helping them out. I know this because I was there when IoJ was there and this never happened.
I do not know enough Tarnish Coast so maybe this is their tactics where ends justify the means but I do know that BG is better than this.
Hopefully you care enough to do the right thing, no more crowbars to the knee cap please.
Do you realize how silly this sounds?
By the way, does anyone have any tinfoil hats laying around?
Let’s keep it clean in here. All three servers deserve to be here. They are all good Tier 2 material (or better even).
I do want to comment to the gentleman talking about taking TC last night from 40 defenders. That was well done. There are some things you need to understand from our viewpoint on TC.
1 – We spent most of the night defending from two very powerful servers on each side of the map. Often at the same time. It is extremely hard to defend from both SoR and BG NA primetime on TC BL.
2 – After a long defense at Bay and Garrison, our supplies and forces had dwindled.
3 – Our leadership was tired and some of them had already gone to sleep.
I’m not taking away from your accomplishment at all. Especially since you did give us credit for holding out so long. The credit should actually be given to the crew that defended the Bay from both BG and SoR repeated assaults on both outer and inner.
We know how to handle the portal bombs and stacking. A level 17 Elementalist can alone cause those strategies some problems. Throw in the rest of our forces now fully aware of them, and you will find that we have learned a little bit about it this week. I still think it is a silly strategy and the only success on Friday night was due to some of us being ignorant on how to avoid it. Consider that fixed!
The other thing is this continued push to get us to focus SoR or BG from one person or another. I’m sorry, it just isn’t possible (and if it was, I doubt we would do it unless one or the other server did something so bad that we were angry at them enough to do it). A major reason for not being possible is that SoR or BG is constantly attacking us (as they should be) with no quarter given on our home borderland. Don’t ask us to stand down and then bring a zerg to our Bay or Garrison. If you want us to focus on one or another, then use your own strategy to maneuver us into doing it. Brute force isn’t going to do it. Use your strategy to change the turn of events to your favor. Or, you could bring a zerg to Bay for 5 hours straight. That is squarely in your own hands, as it is in ours when we are on other maps. The more likely turn of events is that SoR or BG will see weakness because one or the other is attacking soandso area in our BG and attack us in another area because they don’t think we can defend both. A good strategy if not a predictable one, and a very hard thing to defend.
So just keep in mind, in our own borderland, we are fighting for our lives tooth and nail to defend what territory we can. There is no bias or preference and any tactical decision on who we attack is squarely based on who is attacking us and where.
Thanks to BG and SoR for providing one of the most exciting nights ever last night.
/salute

Honorable was the wrong word. I changed my post after I read it. It’s about the fun. No I don’t have a problem with portal bombs. Technically, the number of players should be smaller, but I don’t consider it to be game changing. On the other hand, there are a lot of people that think they should be removed. Who knows? I just know that the clumps we fought tonight weren’t fun. Come beat us to death! Most of us on TC will come and compliment you. but, ugh, tonight it just wasn’t and if it remains like that the game will get ghostly real quick.
First let me say, I have nothing but HUGE respect for your guild. Choo. You guys have fantastic tactics. Please don’t take what I’m saying personally. There is clearly a high level of cooperation in your guild.
The problem is that these tactics are not a FUN way for your opponents to face you. These type of things do matter to TC players. We will take our kitten beating and come out for more. That’s not a problem. My point is this clumping thing is just dumb. It isn’t even close to a realistic comparison of warfare tactics, especially with the firepower that exists in this game. In reality, those Greeks (you) would be blow to bits. We worked pretty hard to get into this tier, and we have faced these tactics before, but still, it isn’t a fun way to fight. Your opponents will grow bored, he’ll even your own members will grow bored.
(edited by sceptus.9415)
It sure feels like there’s more focus on BG from both sides than they against each other. By the way, someone was in SM earlier wasting supplies on useless siege. If someone happens to know who it was, if it was something done from a guild or some such, just let them know that’s not very cool. :<
Point update:
BG: 86,464
SoR: 54,467
TC: 51,326Come on TC, focus on SoR and go for second and stop taking Rogues Quarry from BG every five minutes! :p
While I understand your frustration, I do recall tonight in TC BL that BG spear-headed an attack against our BG with large numbers and moved all the way to Longview. At the same time, we were trying to stop a very determined SoR crew from taking Hills and both servers attacking Gods (North Supply). If that isn’t being double-teamed… But it wasn’t intentional on your parts. Just part of the game. We can’t let up on you, BG. You won’t let up on us. SoR won’t let up on Us. We can’t trust either of you as far as we could throw you. Hence – we fight to the death!
We fight like we have 50 and you guys die like we have 50 but at not point tonight have we had 50 in stack except at the begging of the night when we originally took your garrison.
I dont see how you think its a stupid tactic though. Was it a stupid tactic for the ancient Greeks to put their shields together to make an impenetrable phalanx?
Yes, actually, because the Greeks weren’t blocking shots from giant siege engines, and fires burning all around them from explosions and spells. A phalanx protected them from arrows. The Greeks also didn’t stand still letting hell rain down on them for long periods of time.
Out Numbered? We had less than 25 people in our stacks in fact our lower numbers are why we are doing it. Broken Game mechanic? Stacking, Retaliation, confusion, might, and feedback through out a group is a broken mechanic?
It is broken. Trust me. I’ll be surprised if it isn’t patched soon. The main problem is the limit of AoE and 5 players. You know as well as I do how the mechanic works. Now flip some of the abilities you mentioned above around. And yes, you did outnumber us by quite a large margin on some of those fights. You could have just as easily just bum-rushed us and taken the keeps/towers. This is what I don’t understand. Don’t you want to FIGHT for it? Is winning worth standing still for 20 minutes?
Judging by how your borderland has been all night. Its a decent tactic
Its not a decent tactic – that is just an attempt to socially justify it. You folks already outnumber us by a good amount. Or at least have even numbers. Are you afraid to fight as the game was intended or do you just need this silly broken game mechanic to assure a victory? I’ve seen guilds on TC do it too, but I still think its stupid and honestly just not fun.
Finally, this isn’t about losing. Kick our butts! We love a good fight. I think TC has proven that time and again. I’m not kittening about you winning, I’m kittening because it isn’t FUN to play the game right now.
Explain to me why excellent guilds are leaving this game? The ones in the top tiers even? WM.. Unlimited on FA.. Because this stuff is broken and NOT fun.
(edited by sceptus.9415)
1. Remove the stupid stacking that completely ruins combat and tactics in WvW (you know where the bright guys who love this stand around in a little clump and autotarget everyone while blocking with mesmers and guardians).
2. Lower portals to 10 players. This mechanic mixed with the above tactic has made a fun mass combat game into a boring game with no real combat. These two problems are the BIGGEST problems.
3. Remove free server transfers and limit paid transfers to two weeks at the very least.
This game is losing players on a daily basis because of the above problems.
Its really not rocket science. You folks could have just overpowered us by force so many times tonight. I can’t understand why you think that is even fun?
@Folie – exactly my point. WvW is designed for big groups to FIGHT. I’m pretty sure the designers didn’t intend 30-50 players stand in one big clump for 20 mins without moving five feet. There is nothing “tactical” about it. It is simply a way around the intended game mechanics. Honestly – this tactic makes the game 100% less fun for people who actually want to have COMBAT. If you don’t like THAT, perhaps you should go play something else?
I don’t want it answered. I think its silly, but yes, confusion bombs destroy. Guardian sanctuary destroys it. Hopefully this will help those of you having any trouble.
@spartanx – it was fun. No doubt about it. Good fights!
the stacks fall but we also farmed your badges for what 15 minutes in the garrison before we fell? We had 24 people in our stack to your 40+ We never thought we would out last you but we are not going to just give up the garrison either haha.
I didn’t die once. :P I just stood back at a distance of 1200 and spammed my aoe. :/ Still, I guess people would die if they foolishly run into that mess.
Haha TC, enjoy fighting the stack of Choo in garrison?
It was particularly yummy in GL :p
I’ve never collected more bags, and this is NOT chest beating. These stacks go down in piles to my confusion mesmer.
We win or we lose, but we don’t fight for second. The winner will advance to tier 1 either way.
1. Gather
2. Gather everyone reallll close!
3. Stack
4. Spam target nearest enemy
5. Spam your attacks!
Is this considered good tactics? What happened to actually fighting? What is even funnier is once you figure out the gimmick, it is easily defeated and sent packing. Is this what you folks fought so hard to get into a high tier for? I totally love the portal bombing, but the stacking thing is just terrible tactics.
I must say, in one week BG and SoR will be introduced to MF finally. We have been on a break for over a week due to the holidays, and it is going to continue until next server reset. I cant wait to engage in combat with BG and SoR. If you thought Pink was strong, MF is just as good. Ask FA/CD/Yaks.
I can’t wait until you folks get back. We have really missed your presence.
