If you find running dungeons fun then it’s not a job. I fill that category. If not, there are many other methods that can float players’ boats.

It doesn’t float my boat I guess. Each patch makes the game more like a job and less like the game I paid for.

Short answer to your question: just because a game did it before doesn’t mean its the only way. Grinding is poor design and the fast way to keep players in your game buying from your game store.

Our poor scouting is our biggest problem right now, well, other than new PVE content that just HAS to be obtained. Anyhow, there should be a DIS push somewhere tonight. Hope PiNK has something too.

So between this, the oddly selective forum moderation, and the way this game has turned into a job with dailies, I’m about done doing business with them. This game is even worse than WoW now. The new owners are purely out to grab our cash as quickly as possible and kitten the game’s manifesto or customer service.

I edited out the part I replied to the chest-beater bad-mouthing PiNK. Shrouded is right, its getting old and it isn’t worth it. Sorry about that. Yeah, DIS has a blast hanging with you guys (TSL). I really enjoy the dynamic on TC right now. Our commanders not only work together well, but they enjoy it.

That Briar battle in FA BL last night was awesome. BT are the masters of defending the tower. I give them huge props for the excellent defense there. I’ve got a few things up my sleeve if we run into this situation again and I hope I get to try them. In the end, they built up a huge force and swept out to eliminate us. The interesting thing was, after the challenge had gone away, they moved elsewhere for more fun. You can tell they enjoy the combat of the game and a good challenge, so even though they hate us, I respect them highly.

TSL has been on TC since release. From what I understand, they are a very old guild that started many years ago. I know for sure they have some great commanders and we are lucky to have them.

DIS did some GvG tonight, and we have done duels for as long as I can remember. For some reason we stopped doing fight club. It was only 5v5 GvG though. We will likely do 20v20 this week too. Just need our whole crew on and wanting to do it. Personally, I enjoy everything from duels, 20v20 to full on zerg action. It doesn’t really matter to me.

I don’t speak for DIS. If our commanders think its worth the time to GvG in WvW they will let you know. All I see is a bunch of hurt feelings from folks who don’t like to lose and look for all kinds of justifications on the forums. You guys are better. Our players suck. We buy wins. We aren’t nice and act mean. We act “holier than thou.” So I’ll just say it straight out – you guys aren’t going to win at WvW with your forum warriors. Whining about GvGs isn’t going to score you points, and really we are quite used to this approach by now and its business as usual for TC. This whole GvG is really quite pathetic.

Yeah, that was a blast. I was following Deyja the whole time, wading through that sea of red with my guardian. I love hanging out with PiNK, always a fantastic showing and good fun. Deyja is one hell of a commander.

I’m dissapointed with some of the Kain players that are taking some nasty opinions about server transfers. Take a look at your own server.

I apologize to TC/FA if any offense has been taking. As TC knows, Kaineng has always been respectful. Don’t let the opinion of a few ruin that reputation we have with you guys.

I understand that Kaineng players have been putting long hours into WvW and are exhausted as it seems we aren’t moving anywhere like we used to. Put your efforts into recruiting more people into your guild, making more members from your guild show up in WvW. Posting positive reinforcement into our transfer recruitment thread. But please, dont sit here being negative towards another servers success. It’s putting a bad taste in everyone’s mouth.

Kaineng is still strong. Our opponents are just getting stronger. It’s amazing that in a few weeks the scores have changed this much. I love the competition. Let’s be as competitive as we can be and make it hard for TC to take first place next week.

I’m not disrespecting anyone, and considering how things have gone for us lately I should hope it’s okay to not be happy about that. Yes, Kaineng has had transfers (who hasn’t?) but I’m not wealthy enough to pay for transfers so cross-server recruitment is not something I can really help with. My responsibilities, such as they are, begin and end on the battlefield.

I know we haven’t actually lost that many players/guilds, but I think it’s pretty clear that both other servers are increasing their population (internally or through transfers it doesn’t really matter) AND getting better at the game while we are sort of stagnating. We can still win open-field fights, but we are completely outclassed when it comes to things like scouting, counter-trebbing, and placing/manning defensive siege. For my part, I’m still trying to work with what we have every day. But until those things start to improve (and I can only do so much myself, it’s not like I can scout a tower or hang out on a treb with my tag on) I may be a little testy. I’m a newish poster here, but I’m sure we’ll all get used to me soon enough. I don’t really hate or dislike/disrespect TC or FA, I just complain a lot when I think I have a reason to—and I’m not liking what I’ve seen from Kaineng’s game these last few weeks, relative to our opponents. This is part of the reason why I was reluctant to command, but people keep asking me to do it and I want them to win and be happy so I go out there and try to win at least my own map every day. Well, except today >.>

Don’t stop doing it then. People respect your command and want you to lead. It is up to you to not only command, but keep morale up. A good commander will whip his troops into frenzy and kick some tail. Everyone is human, has bad days, and complains. Most of TC won’t judge you for it, as long as you don’t judge us. We are just playing the same game and trying to do our best – just like you.

Server transfers are part of the game. Those getting the transfers are happy, and those that aren’t are mad. I’ve been on TC since beta weekend 2, and I really don’t care who goes where. I’ll show up for the fighting one way or another. I remember a time in T2 when we were competitive with SoR, and they get a huge amount of transfers literally overnight. We were smashed flat. I also remember a time that KN got transfers and Fort Aspenwood got transfers. A lot of people from FA bad mouth our server constantly. They twist what we say into something we didn’t mean, and they find new ways to insult us every week. We continue forward and play the game and nothing you say here is going to change us and stop the fun. Peace.

EDIT: For what its worth, TC got where it is without big transfers for a long time. We gained DIS (which I joined recently and is a great guild), and lost a big guild that went to a lower tier (a guild that was formerly a T1 guild!). Other than small transfers, we haven’t really gotten many. So yeah, we have been on the bad end of the transfer game many times and I’m sure we will again. I don’t really care about which tier we are in, as long as there are people to fight and fun to be had.

I’ll detail how the movie ends:

Curly Bill Brocius – Can’t hit the broad side of a barn with a pistol. Shot dead by Wyatt Earp.

Ike Clanton – Coward ran away, dropped his “Cowboys” sash. Later shot and killed like a dog.

Johnny Ringo – Supposed slinger got owned by Doc Holliday. Shot between the eyes.

So yeah, TC may get down and out once in a while, but in the end we come back strong.

Just to make sure you guys understand, and clear up some of your misconceptions, I have no problems with my ranger or how he performs. I actually love the class. I have four other 80s that are geared out (Guard, Mesmer, Necro, Engi). I know how to play the game. I know my stengths and limitations. I’m not here to complain about the class. I’m complaining about the PERCEPTION that our class sucks and are easy bags for everyone. I mostly do WvW.

The goal of this post is to get the attention of the developers. This isn’t about the problems our class has, but it IS about the perception of our class in the game.

Our server is in T2. We have a lot of hardcore players. Its pretty sad that you can be on the server voice chat (yes server, not just guild) and everyone is laughing and making fun of rangers. I usually have pretty thick skin, but it happens every night. Even if I was the best ranger to grace this game (I’m not), it would be hard to hear this over and over. No matter how good I play the perception of just about everyone is that we rangers are just free bags.

Folks can make as many excuses for how good we are and tell me I suck at playing my profession or I’m doing it wrong, but it doesn’t change the fact that everyone else thinks this profession is garbage. Its to the point that people don’t even want to play with rangers around.

I paid for this game just like the guy playing the elementalist, thief, guardian, or mesmer. Fix this kitten class or give us something to change the perception so those of us who stick with it through all this crap talking can enjoy the game too.

I love the build, and I have all the gear for it, but it doesn’t execute very well in WvW. I’m not saying you said it would either, but that’s all I play. My experience so far? Pet dies in seconds. I was fighting 2vs2 and they just killed my pet right off the bat. The AOE alone was too much for my pet’s low HP and regen wasn’t doing the trick. I spent most the fight running for my life after the pet was dead.

I tried this with my rabid set, then half my PVT set. It may be better with a full PVT set, but I’m thinking its not. Honestly, I’ve just about given up on the profession altogether. My engineer puts out more damage and has a higher chance of survival because of his many utilities. Using an even less tanky engineer than my ranger, I was able to come back and fight 2v2 again and walk away without an issue.

What good is a pet if your enemy simply avoids all of his attacks by running out of range? What good is it if the pet is dead almost as soon as the enemy realizes this is a BM build? About the only thing it was good for was being laughed at because it was so easily defeated.

Huge respect goes to RET on FA tonight. Your defense of bay has been fantastic.

So what do you expect would happen? TC and Kain didn’t really team up. They just both happen to hate FA. TC and Kain do fight, but they just fight FA more.

I expect them to still fight when running into each other in the field. Its sad that the score is as close as it is between TC and FA with both servers focused on FA all week. There has been many times I’ve been attacked by both TC and Kain and when I would go down instead of fighting each other they would both go different ways with out ever taking a swing at one another…. Ya they are not working together at all. Everyone in T2 right now knows whats going on.

You allow 1st place to keep points and make sure 3rd place doesn’t get them. You’re right – that is a strategy. That’s exactly how you “win” 2nd place. Looking at TC’s match history, you’re very good at 2nd place.

Honest question here….. Why do you care about maximizing PPT? If you aren’t playing to win, then I’m pretty sure the score doesn’t matter. Why not just look for good fights?

No better trial by fire than having to command in FA against a guild that is as good as ANY guild in T1. That guild would be BT. I salute you and have much respect. DIS has great commanders, so don’t judge us by what you ran up against on that night. For what its worth, we did fantastic against the non-BT groups.

All new stuff in dungeons is going to be hard for the first few days. We see it all the time with new content – people fail and get knocked down when they aren’t used to that sort of thing, and they claim it is too difficult.
Give it a week or so for everyone to develop strategies, learn encounters, and build fundamentals, and they will claim it is too easy. Trust me when I say this, the numbers are punishing (but less than they were before), but knowing the mechanics will greatly mitigate the danger.

New mechanics or not, you made it ridiculously hard and frustrating now. The graveling knockdowns are just too much.

Don’t even want to know how many hours I put into team fortress 2, sure it isn’t single player, but it didn’t cost me a dime. In fact, I put more money into this game than I ever put into that other MMO. Exactly as they planned.
