I’m from TC.

Why does there need to be some reward for defending other than what you already receive? You want to win, right? Defend your captured territory. Honestly, if we can manage to do it, why can’t you? Let’s say you win this week. Let’s also speculate that you make enough points to get to tier 2 (not likely for any of us I know, but let’s just speculate). The population, strategy, and sheer willpower to win at any cost is at least twice is bad above this tier. In all honesty, this fight as about as close as this game will ever come to being even.

You know what is even more boring? Trying to get out of the starting area of any borderland or EB that is completely overrun by the enemy. Try that once. Now try it many times. TC lost within hours to SoR. We had a whole week of just trying to take one or two keeps in our own borderlands. In that time, we were forced to learn what it means to defend against a superior force. Not just in numbers, but with excellent offensive strategies. I don’t feel that SoR was used to defending either. We held out one battle in a tower for half a day being the only thing we owned besides our starting area. Many of our best commanders learned valuable lessons about what we need to be able to do to survive an onslaught.

There is no denying that FA can mass zerg and take whole maps. You even have some great offensive strategies and guilds (although you aren’t nearly as strong as SoR was). On the other hand, you are clearly not as good as TC at holding what you take. As soon as some of you can get your feet on the ground and realize you aren’t better than us, and you need some improvement, the sooner your server will begin to kick serious kitten. If you keep coming here claiming the only reason you are losing is because of some imagined 2vs1, you aren’t going to get anywhere. It appears you are doing quite well this week so far, but if you keep this up all it will do is piss both servers you are against off and we WILL decide (even without agreeing to) that we are sick of it and just focus you whenever possible. Give us some freaking credit for playing as well as you do, at least that much. Then get your commanders together and figure out how to improve. As soon as you are out of denial mode, you will improve and can even be the best in this tier.

Finally, if there is one thing you need to know about TC, is that for the vast majority of us, we don’t care if we win or lose as long as we get a good fight. We won’t ever give up. Even in the face of complete domination as we had when we lost against SoR, we still showed up every night and did our freaking best to do something. To learn something. From what I’ve seen from FA, you folks are more prone to come here to the forum and beat your chests, insult us, or claim some mysterious (and non-existing) alliance (with some notable exceptions in this forum who are game enough to see the need for improvement on your end).

I guess if you want enmity between servers, or non-sportsmanlike rivalry, some of you are getting exactly what you give in return. We prefer to do it in-game though. Here’s hoping the moderators understand this isn’t a server bashing post. I’m only trying to give some advice here. We are all in this tier together and if you ask me, this has been the best week+ I’ve had in WvW since the release of this game.

For what its worth, I doubt they even care what I have to say. Still, I love the idea of this game, but for the last week I have played less and less, including the last two days I haven’t even logged in for more than 5 minutes.

1. Attention to WvW – this should be the main feature of the game in my opinion. It seems the developers put it low on the list of priorities.

2. Server Transfers Still Free and only 7 Day Cooldown – should cost gems for server transfer by now and the cooldown should be two weeks at the very least.

3. Class Balance – A few classes are played in huge numbers while others seem to dwindle due to lack of any real attention. Some classes have many options, while others may have only one. Some classes are just blatantly overpowered. This includes anything that can’t be killed easily by five players or more actively trying to target them.

4. Vertical Progression Added – make no mistake, this one is a big killer for me.

5. Lack of Communication by Developers

6. Bots

7. Price of Gold (Gems) is too high for non-rich folk (in comparison in what you get out of it).

8. Gated Content

9. Gear Repair Bills

10. Forum Moderation – it seems some of the moderators are bias to certain players/servers/classes and are giving out infractions far too easily.

All of these together sap my enthusiasm when I go to play the game each day. This game could be so much more than it is, but I guess it is what it is. Either way, I’ll be looking for a new title and will try to continue playing the game, but I’m not even sure I can now.

ULTD is only hackers in the sense of when people cry after they skillfully beat them. There are no “hackers” in that guild, just good players.

Hello FA. You guys are awesome. I especially love ULTD. Some great soldiers in that guild. I mean seriously, nothing but respect. Met some BT tonight as well. Your attack of the bay (in TC BL) was ruthless and effective. All of you should be proud. I would have bowed and saluted but I was too busy trying to push you folks back.

Absolutely unreal fight.

I was right above you when you took that screenshot. I don’t know how many people down below I put conditions on, but I ran around up above for about 10 minutes trying to kill everything I could see. I’ve never seen anything like it in this game so far. At one point I realized that I had to get down into the circle and from there I started to sweep around and find anything still alive. There was a long few minutes I thought we would wipe and YB would take the keep after all the hard work.

YB – nice job on joining the fray. You folks kicked serious kittens and almost destroyed our raid. That was the best fight for me in this game.

Finally, if you see a Black-haired Norn Necro in tier 1 cultural gear (trans), that’s usually me. There aren’t many of us Norn Necros to begin with. I’m usually the one charging headlong into destruction. :P

P.S. I also took down the keep lord. Had some help, even from YB people (not on purpose either – they were trying to kill me). He downed me once and I luckily rallied. I daresay if I hadn’t rallied on that I would have missed about half the fun.

We really are.. it’s been a super see-saw couple of days and it’s so close it could go any way.

Hope the upper tier is treating you guys to a tooth and nail tussle.

The funny thing I noticed about TC when we fought you guys was , you are like the opposite of what people would think. The further behind you get , the more tenacious you get.

We are in the fifth position , and that seems to be where we belong at this point in time. We are slowly getting better though.

You folks put a beating on us. We learned from it but we never gave up. That is one thing that hasn’t changed about us.

What happened TC? I remember liking fighting against you guys because almost after every fight someone would do a /salute or /bow. It was cool. I thought you guys were cool because you won, but didn’t try to throw it in your opponents face. Now all you do is /laugh. I haven’t seen one person do anything else. I REALLY admired your server, and started following your example and tried to show my respect to those I beat. Was it only because you guys were beating us so badly last time?

(yeah I know a few don’t represent your whole server, but the same could have been said about the good stuff. A few (quite a few) gave me a really good impression of your server. Now a few (quite a few) are erasing it).

I felt the same way about your server but decided not to base my opinion on a group of knuckle-heads. For example, last night I had a group of about 12 people kill me while I was running between forts. Two of them laughed at me and stood over my corpse. I mean, really? What did they expect to happen? I took out 2 of those people before I went down. Were they mad that I didn’t just flop over and die? Anyhow, I won’t judge your server because of the above incident, but I rather deserved a /bow for even trying to fight back against those odds. The thing is, it was just one of several of those type of incidents last night.

Bottom line, most of us will bow or salute you after a fight. We despise poor sportsmanship and have no trouble calling our own players out when we see it.

You need NA players more than you need Oceanics. You are losing more points in the day and you have a huge zerg at night. Just saying, not trying to be mean or cause any bad feelings, but its my observation from playing you folks this week. What you need to do is teach your already great night zerg how to defend its territory. Add some NAs to your server and you have a tier 2 or 1 game going on.

FA outnumbers us like 5 to 1 at the moment. Better to defend as much as possible and then resume our reign of destruction tomorrow.

@Static hehe sounds more like one of our modern day real-life politicians of any party.

TC doesn’t need to ally with either of your servers. We can hold our own, just like you can. We earned our place in this tier and until you consider us equals in competition you are going to make vital mistakes.

EDIT: In addition, 99.9% of TC is not a win at all costs server. Those you will find in the tiers above us. If you want to compete there, you need to understand the difference of tactics and double-teaming. Up there, they ARE win at all costs. Judging on our equal capabilities, I doubt either server against us this week would be any better than us facing a SoS or even SoR opponent. If you want to compete in higher tiers, you need to stow these silly comments and realize that any smart server is going to make tactical choices, sometimes on the fly, about what to hit next. That usually involves hitting the opponent that presents the best long-term possibilities to our score and position.

A good general studies tactics and learns from mistakes. Poor leaders making excuses for losing instead of improving are the downfall of us all.

Another 80 Necro here. Fully geared. I laugh at thieves. Guardians don’t give me trouble. The only fight I had trouble with lately was a VERY skilled bunker Elementalist.

I don’t depend on long-lasting conditions. Instead, I front-load my damage with power and precision. I maximize how often DS will be available. It takes a lot of button pushing, and weapon swapping. Timing on DS and using it as often as possible is necessary.

I would say, if you want an easy class – go play warrior. If you want a class that if played right can melt a warrior EVERY TIME, play a necro. One final note: stability and DS. Check out Soul Reaping if you are having problems with survival and the above poster is correct about toughness.

I just want to wish a good game upon FA and YB. Both servers whom I have enjoyed playing against in the past. I hope this thread doesn’t get carried away with conspiracies and complaints. I fought some impressive guild groups from both opposing servers tonight.

Tonight was fun from the very start. My little guild really appreciated being taken under the wing of TTC tonight. We had some great small battles and it was nice to see a larger guild do their thing and be part of it.

Bella, Thrumdi, and Kendrick – thanks for letting us tag along. If you ever need us again we will be there.

I’m from TC and I find the whole idea of alt-F4ing to be silly. Take your lumps. You die, it is because you screwed up, were beaten, got outnumbered, but kitten don’t take it so personally that you have to actually restart your game.

I want to give them a chance. Maybe I will. On the other hand, I have given so many MMOs a chance to keep their promises and I always end up being disappointed. I’m not even surprised anymore. This is the last time I will believe the hype about new and different. The last time I will believe there isn’t a grind. Honestly, I don’t even blame Anet. I blame NCSoft. My guess is that Anet is being told to do this because of some bean counter that knows nothing about what gamers want.

I’d still be playing the game if I were the only person left. Yes, I’m upset about the treadmill, but everything else about the game has drawn me in so much that I can’t go back. Hell, Borderlands 2 was just a non-stop treadmill and I loved that game to the core of my being. Fact is, I’m enjoying my time in the game too much to stop just because of some extra numbers. I’ll probably end up keeping up anyway.

I would have to agree. I will play this game even if I am the last person left. I think all these issue will pan out. Once the gear is out, and people get over it. All will be fine. The game will settle eventually with a good community. I am just keen on playing and enjoying the game, and making sure Arena-net knows I thank them for it.

I read your post. I just don’t agree. I think this is the beginning of the end for this game. I hope I’m wrong. I really do.

I watched every video and read every story about Guild Wars 2. I believed what the developers told us about no grinding or vertical progression. When will game developers understand that if they make promises, give their vision, or otherwise tell their potential future customers they are going to do something, they think they can just toss those words aside? PVE Content junkies looking for the next carrot will do the content and burn out on it in a week. Then they will be back screaming for the next big item boost. What happened to playing the game because it was just fun to play?

You remember Age of Conan? Warhammer Online? Star Wars The Old Republic? So do I. They all promised gamers a new experience. They would all be the answer to bad design and be different than the rest. Guess where they all are now? How long do you think you kept these people happy for? I predict a rapid decline of players in this game. This patch is only the beginning. I told my friends I wouldn’t buy into the hype of another game. Well, you got me again. The funny thing is, I’ve been waiting for some great content to be added to the store (armor and weapon skins?) so I could buy them. Instead, you give us vertical progression and gated content.

Customers do remember and they do hold you accountable. You’ll see. When you finally realize your mistakes, it will be too late. Everyone will have moved on. I’ve seen it at least five times now.

Thank you for at least making a great looking and fun game on release. I hope you can turn things around.

Here are my thoughts:

Ascended gear went in without a word after 170+ pages of people being unhappy.

Ranger balance didn’t happen at all.

WvW got nothing.

I don’t see a reason to login anymore. Just my feelings on the matter. I’ll likely see this post deleted as well as get an infraction. Either way, no more money from me.

All they have to do is lower the stats of Ascended Gear to Exotic level, leave the infusion slot in but make it ONLY work in the dungeons. Problem solved.

Personally, I find the jumping puzzle combat to be a fun challenge. It is a WvW zone after all and siege is legal, so if people want to use that to disadvantage players from the other servers then that is their business — just go out and cap their forts or something while they are down below feeling like they are king/queen of the puzzle.

Despite all the bickering in this thread, I have actually witnessed quite a bit of amnesty taking place amongst all three servers these past few days. I’m not complaining, it is just . . . different.

Games shouldn’t need some carrot in your face to be fun. What’s wrong with just introducing the content because its new, unexplored and fun? Why do you need gear with better stats? This is totally against what was advertised for years by the designers of this game. That is why people tell folks like you to go play WoW.

It is very interesting these days how people are in complete denial until things walk up and slap them in the face. I would say an overwhelmingly large portion of the gaming populace in this game is absolutely against this mechanic being added. The advertisement for the game before it was release touted the exact opposite of this strategy. Proclaiming it a “just a small difference, deal with it,” isn’t going to change the fact of how people feel about them breaking their word. Just like the last election, if you sit there blindly thinking you are right, and then reality smacks you down, don’t be too upset if you can’t find anyone to go do your treadmill with you. Most of us will have moved on.

I think you missed the whole point. More than once it seems. ANet made it clear you shouldn’t HAVE to get any gear, except gear you wanted to have a different appearance with. If you are going to debate something, at least get it right.

If they put a gear grind in, that will be the last day I play the game. I don’t care about what everyone above says. I’m not reading it. This game was supposed to be different than the other game I shall not name. It is looking like the developers are just making another game like that. Don’t let us down ANet, and don’t listen to these PVE kittens from the other game. They can go back to grinding gear and reputation in the other game for all I care, but if you put in a gear grind that requires PVE, I will simply move on to something else.

@Honnor – I’m not sure why as a YB commander you brought this to the boards to make it a controversy. I’ve personally never seen that player you mention, but I have played with a lot of EP folks. The way you have colored this person is unfair, and the bad reputation you are trying to give their guild (one of the better guild on our server to be honest) is unfair.

This IS a game about a three-way war. It isn’t just about slinging magical pixels at each other. The developers absolutely intended politics and intrigue like this to happen between the servers. Just because you did not agree to such an alliance, does not make it a dishonorable thing to do.

In our (TC’s) current situation I think you will find 99% of our players are just fine with the completely even three-way war that we have right now and wouldn’t want an alliance with either YB or CD. This is the best WvW match we have had thus far. I don’t give a kitten if we lose at the end of the week. I can tell you as a fact, that this was not an agreement server-wide, and I doubt it was even guild-wide from Everything Purple.

Still, I think it is wrong of you to come on this board and bad mouth a whole guild and try to color them or this individual who reached out to you as if they are dishonorable. There is also indication that you are bad-mouthing our whole server.

What exactly do we, Tarnished Coast, have to do to earn your mutual respect? We have battled our way up this ladder the same as you, barely benefiting from transfers and the like. Our core players are all originally from this server. We play with honor, for the most part, with some bad apples just like any other server.

We will continue fighting, and enjoying, the game. See you on the battlefield.

Can we just have a good match and keep the insults to a minimum? All three of these servers are very evenly matched. Finally, we are no more zergy than CD or YB, and in fact YB may have more players than we do, at least in this timezone (current NA primetime).

We were just trying to kill that treb and cata that you guys got into the no siege deploy zone. I’d like to hear about how you did that though.

After those were dead he just threw some cows in the invincible area, which if that counts as spawn camping rather than just wasting time, well I’m not sure what to tell you.

That makes sense. I think we should refrain from posting things condemning other servers (from any side of this) in the future and just concentrate on ending this week on a good note. For what its worth, I have nothing but respect for CD (and HoD for that matter, whom I sympathize for because of all the ship jumpers. The people that are sticking around must be a great core of players).

@Scyntrus – Many of us don’t agree with the type of gate camping in your first screenshot (I would argue that the second screenshot is not camping at all). Personally, I was there when we pushed CD back into the north gate a little while ago. I made it clear I don’t like camping gates and mapped back. Obviously some of our players took it to the next level. All I can say is that its going to happen on every server even with the best intentions. Keep fighting and good luck out there.

EDIT: Stay on your server and build a community. Transferring to improve your WvW game is really just taking advantage of a good feature put in this game for PVE players. Learn to lose. Learn to win graciously. Quit watching the score and just play the game.

TC player here. I despise poor sportsmanship. There are exceptions though, when I think an emote or two is appropriate:

- Thief targeting you and only you over and over because he killed you easy once – you dance on his corpse – face it he deserves it

- Corpse spy giving intelligence over a long period of time. I usually sleep with them.

- Vengeful enemy that comes after you because you had the gall to kill them once. They appear in a rage and die over and over. I usually kneel to them or cry.

To be certain, I never gloat. That is terrible.

Also to the [LORD] guild gentleman above. Yeah, you guys are pretty kitten good players. I have faced some of you this week. I’m the necromancer that helped push you back all weekend long. A certain warrior in dragon gear really didn’t like me and kept going after me. I had a lot of fun with him. I think you guys are pretty tough no doubt, but your body twitches in the dirt just like the rest… evil necro laugh

P.S. Phantom for President and I think CD is one of the most honorable servers we have faced, both in winning and losing.

the free transfers also frontloaded you out of t-2 with those massive 700k wins over the smaller servers and giving the bandwagoners the massive ego and trash talk that you legit guys are paying for now. as soon as they saw that SBi was winning… most of those that posted the trash talk on page 1 and 2 of the sbi vs jq vs bg part 1 thread bailed out to another winning server. sorry it happened to you. they need to change transfers. if you havent found a home yet. you should stop playing the game and learn social skills.

Brutal and awesomely true post. I’m an SBI fan from TC. They talked tons of smack to us when they beat us. Telling us to stop whining about the transfers and that they only did it to be competitive. Like you folks, our core players are original TC members and we won’t ever leave. Win or lose we are in it. I wish people would stop abusing the transfer system or it would just be closed permanently.
