I am actually quite disappointed in IRON in this match-up. We see IRON all the time starting play from SEA all the way to NA. And yet when ZD shows up to give you guys good fights, you suddenly stop playing? What happened to the guild that is just here “for the fights” and don’t care win or loss?

On the other hand, guilds like TW and Choo on SoR do still show-up to fight even when the server is losing, that seems to me more aligned with the “for the fights” attitude.

Just rest up for week 7, prepare to bring lots of tissue.

TC seems like an entirely different server ever since EP and KH moved out. Lots of hate towards T1s especially BG and sometimes JQ. Most of the QQ on eb map chat are from people I’ve never seen before or up-levels. They were saying stuff like BG are cowards and would lose to them if the numbers were even and that BG loves to run full map zergs.

Transfers in the short term, for sure.

It’s gonna be interesting to see what sort of impact ESO will have when it launches early next year. Am sure numerous WvW’ers will head there to see how ESO handles world pvp. Some will comeback after the free month but am sure many big name guilds will choose to stay while their GW2 playtime diminishes.

ESO will most likely have a big say in changing the landscape of the present tiers.

Should be interesting on release. The more competition the better for all of us MMO gamers

Speaking for T2, we only seek to be balanced with each other.
The human nature to stack for an easier victory is too prevalent and no one has the stomach for that level of an arms race outside Tier 1.

This is a very nice sentiment that has been promoted for a long time (mostly by Blackgate, Cheers!) but unless someone wants to be the first to dive into the water???

Could you get enough folks to do it without destabilizing the current T1 situation?

T1 is so unstable that every guild transfer (outside of NA) results in a massive swing in fortunes.

MERC (or just some of them) transfer to JQ and suddenly #3 is number 1. ZDs goes to BG and suddenly #3 is #1 and everyone is saying how JQ needs EU even though even a modest sized guild would throw the math off again.

How do you prevent a stackwagon and prevent a server implosion if it should dip to #4 for a week or two?

Here’s your problems on the tier 2 side:
TC:massive fairweather population, queues are rough and they have lost a lot of their WvW focused strength outside of CERN and PINK
SoS: Anemic NA, but if it’s NA becomes strong it will start crawling upwards in rating. Plus we don’t really have a burning desire to be T1 again (unless the nature of T1 were to change drastically).
Maguuma: The addition of OCX/SEA guilds would help them, but then they’d have to redefine themselves (can’t say you don’t PPT when you tick over 300) and there would be massive infighting between roamers and blobbers.
Fort Aspenwood:I have no idea what their problem is, but I hear there are a lot of politics
SBI: Too many lower tier transfers, won’t be ready for primetime for a while.

Continue with all the name calling, stackwagon, etc. Who really cares about #3, #2 or #1, as long as we are in tier 1, we have the best fights. And you forget how hard everyone in tier 1 fights. 1 guild can make a difference between #3 to #1, but everyone else on each of these 3 servers fight harder than in any other tier

While it is true in most cases, I would like to see the T2 servers get more numbers to promote more fights. With how thigs are right now when T1 gets matched up with anything else there isn’t much to do, the one or 2 maps that gets fights are so overstacked during those weeks that you can hardly call them -good-.

I know numbers=/=skill, but with numbers it does help people stay in WvW a lot more.

The introduction of leagues caused a mass array of transfers. This was most likely the 2nd largest income period for Anet next to opening day sales.

If Anet balanced leagues or wvw somehow their cash cow via transfers will come to an immediate end. The idea of “WvW balance” will never happen, particularly with a one time purchase free 2 play game.

Enough already with the chest thumping, accusations, etc. BG has better coverage than SoR does now. This is not about who the best is, it is about who has more people. Simple as that. That is why WvW is some what of a joke because there is real no skill in it. Just stack you server the most to get easy wins. Just that simple and that is the way it is. Until Anets figures out a way to balance WvW population, this is the way it is going to be.

The only way to balance it would be to put a system in that can control the population of the maps. So if 10 people go in one map, 10 are allowed from each other world. This would also spread people out to different servers because no one is going to sit in a que that long when fighting a lesser volume server.

So you suggesting queues like WoW? Will never happen nor should it. The imbalanced coverage is also the reason why WvW rewards will pale in comparison to PvE in terms of time sink requirements for end of rainbow carrots.

That said, let the chest thumpers have their day. Many have chosen to be blind to the politics involved with leagues and/or have not reviewed the schedule as the non significant 3rd wheel comes into play in the last week as they will decide who they choose to 2v1. Tears will flow heavy when payback comes a callin and will make it all worthwhile.

To clarify – KISS as a guild are no longer on SoR. There may be a few ex-KISS running around in IRON and elsewhere but due to a number of reasons the guild had some issues and went back to EU. KISS moving to SoR came out of the blue to most members and to SoR itself, we were neither invited or paid to transfer and we moved for the fights and being one of the few guilds left on an EU server that hadn’t already moved elsewhere.

As for SoR – I see people asking where we have gone and what has happened. We are still here, still fighting, still kicking kitten and having a lot of fun. The vast majority of us are not giving a kitten about the PPT and are just having fun. Some of the fair weather casuals or AP seekers may have moved back to PvE, GTAV or whatever but for our core it is business as usual. And that means queues are down, so good for everyone.

Anyone not familiar with T1 NA would think reading this forum it is all about animosity instead of fights and fun. Why any guild would think of transferring here on reading them amazes me.

The issue with SoR as a server is that you really have to share this point of view of the “top SoR (WvW?) Guilds” “open field fights – don’t care of winning” spirit because if you don’t you ll find very frustrating playing with people who clearly stating not playing to win and then you will leave SoR like many have done before. Don’t expect them to hold/defend do anything with any evolved tactic or strategy they are more like no-brainers repeating “OpenFieldsFights, OpenFieldsFights, OpenfieldsFights…” and well they also just hide whenever they get spank… They seek to have openfieldfights against pugs XD Then they feel the POWER

Guess all those open field battles had little say in regards to SOR moving from tier 7 back in the day all the way up to 1. If we only knew!

I know this is selfish and impossible to accomplish, but for me its way more important fighting for than ppt.

You’ve always had your own interests in mind Smokee, and as a result, it’s always had at least a little positive influence in balancing your time zone, as well as benefit Blackgate because it kept you playing. Dem was some dark days when you retired. Regarding ZDs, you’re right I think. Where else could they have gone? You’d think JQ at first, but the back-to-back-to-back of MERC —> ATM --> ZDs (not discounting other guilds/players in those time zones by the way .. just trying to keep it simple) would have probably been a bit ridiculous. SoR? ZDs —> IRON --> EST NA. Similar effect I’d would think I don’t know. I’m not saying ZDs will not have a similar effect on BG, only that the overall influence on the outcome might be less impactful than the alternatives.

In the end, perfect balance is a pipe dream. If it ever exists, it would only last a short while I think. Too much can change too quickly and off-prime time coverage balance is too delicate.

My 2 cents anyways. As always, I disclaim my posts with the chance that I’m a total idiot regarding this stuff.

I think what smokee was looking for is more competitive fielding from JQ in that timeslot, and I don’t mean it as a slight to JQ EU but there isn’t any competition from that side, you have IRON, who is a very good fielding guild and fields a large force from SoR, and basically alphabet soup from JQ. again no offense meant towards JQ EU.

There’s one small flaw in your statments, ZD’s start primetime vs no opposition, so they can cap all the keeps across all 3 bdl’s, having the highest impact of all the guilds in t1 and besides BG already has Coin + RK + HB and some handfull of EU time guilds in the field, They have the numbers to fight IRON, and don’t say you don’t cause you have jsut been running hand-in-hand the whole EU time, and when ZD’s prime is almost over, IRON is starting with 25-30 having to fight at least 40+ ZD’s, like yesterday. Those being replaced by the previous said guilds.

And we don’t run from the fights, but we do have to border hop when we are outmanned in 2 maps and ocasionally need to defend.
Anyways, as you are winning, i expect you to be fighting in the open field instead of behind towers, without having to field 2x numbers + siege.

I think it was around week 18 or 19 when you guys came rumbling in here throwing everything out of whack. But you guys had no problem doing it then, right? It was also when SoR went on a rampage and won like 7 straight weeks because there was barely any EU guilds running anywhere near those numbers at the time.

SoR has had the strongest EU of the top three NA servers for some time now. When IRON came here, they came into EU “for fights” despite both JQ (which at the time was already beginning to decline) and BG (who only had the smaller forces of RK and those in HB who were trying to get back into the game), and they continued to run rampant and kittentalk the forums until RG came in to help balance out T1. Since then SoR received [KISS], [SLAY] (who merged into IRON) [rB] who moved about 15-20 to SoR, [AFTL], etc. yet yall are still going on at that numbers talk as if it mattered to you guys when you made the jump back in May. When you guys are winning, (meaning ppl in the EU timezone) your numbers are in the kitten load column; Now that you can’t walk through every guild or pug like they’re made of toilet paper, everything starts to tank?

[IRON] has constantly talked about wanting open field fights and GvG and always wiping the enemy and never having any real competition. Well, now you have an Iron Curtain with similar numbers looking to fold you up and spit you out. Enjoy.

Actually it is funny cause during weekends BG takes time off. While we still play, we simply do not put as much overtime as we do on the weekdays. Out queue time on BG right now is like 5 min to get into any given WvW realm. This is the case till around 6p est. Yesterday we saw lots of SoR and Tc guilds fighting hard 1-2 hours prior the present time. So around 1p est yesterday there was hard fights, now there is nothing. The chatter right now, is that SoR and Tc gave up. Now this does not stand for the later guilds, just the guilds that are meant to cover this timezone. These guilds that are supposed to be covering, are failing and PvEing. What makes this even more funny, is that fact that the 1st 1-8pgs of this thread was SoR flaming, now they are just hiding beneath layers of kittens. Run and hide, thats what you guys are good at, and will only be good at. Run and hide kittens, run and hide…

Nobody really has the force to contend with ZDs during the time slot they play. Unfortunately for them, they will get bored rather quickly unless they start staying up really late to play with IRON/NA. Maybe them coming over will attract more EU to the NA servers. I doubt it though.

Based on what people have told me the only groups that can match ZDs time slot or come close to it are either German guilds or other russian guilds.

Good for BG, they did a great job recruiting at a nice PPT slot then.

Playing the spoiler role in week 7 is gonna be a lot of fun IMO when the big 3 (JQ, BG, SOR) gather for the last battle to decide the final rankings.

Sadly 2vs1 will never work with TC in the mix (no offence TC) but they’re not JQ and dont have the numbers to successfully 2vs1 all week. Can’t see TC falling for your tactic SoR, But you carry on trying to get TC on your side SoR while you take their stuff LOL

I’m told DIE guild held an hour long guild meeting while in spawn of TC border during NA prime time preventing any interested parties getting on and defending the map while we golem rushed towards bay. So the point loss was just from IRON? Sorry to be the once to tell you think but those points were lost going from NA to sea/oceanic (not blaming those guilds before you come back with that) , it was a little early for IRON. BG’s new guild is not EU either, they are russian, which again means alot of their play time is a little early for IRON. Are you sure you are on SoR? you dont really know what you are on about.

That would be that playing for fights thing we go on about. Even though your post was sarcastic you at least get what we was trying to do, being in your garrison was the only way to get a decent fight going.

Alot of your server mates like to use the SoR playing for fights thing as a reason to chest thump when you win, but its nice to see some people get it.

Please leave SoR and take the rest of IRON with you, you all clearly have no interest of helping SoR win this tournament and your 6hr karma training yesterday did the server no good. There is a time to karma train and a time to get serious but its obvious IRON only cares about loot bags. Oh becuase BG got a new 40 man EU guild is no excuse either for a loss of points lead we did have.

Sounds like they were having fun to me. Like any server each will have a mixed bag of guilds and players of whom there will be those solely interested in ppt and others who wants fights, more power to em.

Having said that, wow it’s gotta be boring being on JQ about now, they have to deal with their present situation til mid November, lol.

P.S. To the people surprised about BG covering up the gap, i have noticed that BG always takes the weekend off or lightly. It’s a good strategy though, taking a couple of days off every week.

Great thing about the chest thump threads (not stating yours is one) is the 3rd wheel (SoR, BG and JQ) as it stands now is gonna have a huge say of deciding the Kingmaker of season 1 as week 7 has the 3 Tier 1 servers squaring off again. Guaranteed there is going to be lots of QQ posts, politics, azzzz kissing, etc. in response to whom that 3rd server decides to rally towards so expect that thread to be loads of fun to read!

hehe. Yah that thread and week 7 match is gonna be pretty epic. The top 2 servers will start with lavish praise at the 3rd slot finisher hoping to schmoooze them. The thread will most likely be the most positive it’s been in months with everyone getting along of which will undoubtedly soon go downhill as #3 starts to dictate who takes gold.

Trolling aside. Are you able to confirm or deny that the major reason that SOR lost so much PPT last night was because many of IRON had homework to do? This is the rumor I have heard, so I was wondering if it was true or not is all.

It is bad, but at the same time it is completely impossible to do anything against so we simply have to accept it.
Even if they blocked whispers in WvW it would still be possible to use 3rd party programs to communicate.

All about convenience. 3rd party can be used but that’s assuming every random commander is using same software and/or they are able to log into same BL as you.

Leagues should have removed party chats of opposing servers alongside up levels being able to queue as level 1 on a second account to use as spies.

Buy a throwaway 2nd account. Log into level 1 alt to troll the server, once the match change hands, delete the level 1 and create another garbage toon on the new opponents server, never have to buy transfers ever.

What is Anet gonna do as punishment? Ban accounts? It’s not gonna happen. IF they had issue with it, all they need to do is remove the ability to invite an opposing player in wvw to a party and talk with them

JQ SEA had 4 map queues before leagues even started. Last I heard a couple more oceanic and sea guilds from BG transferred there as well. It’s gotta be boring to be on JQ side for the next 3 weeks during that time zone.

In summary the OP’s suggestions are queues to get the numbers even for more fair matches.

I kindly ask some of you to visit the WoW battleground forums where all their matches are even numbers due to queues but they cry more than this board, lol.

Pretty sure that’s why they made wvw 3 different servers. Although pretty much every matchup were going to have this league there will be one server that can easily beat the other two combined.

Some commanders are better at initiating ingame diplomacy then others.

If Anet had issue with it, they would not allow one to invite party an opposing player in WvW and freely chat with them.

Long term Tier 1 servers of JQ / BG / SOR does not have this problem, particularly with league season. Every structure has at least 1 player watching and calling out incoming.

In fact, TeamSpeak Commanders ask for volunteers running on 15 or 30 minute rotation and at least on my server no difficulty finding one and based on the scouts I see on JQ or BG, doubt they have any issues either.

If your server needs artificial carrots to entice a player to stay back for 15 minutes usually means you guys have far greater issues.

For each tick you own a structure, the more points it will be worth the next tick. This would encourage defense, as rather than trying to run around and capture points .

Love or hate leagues. Anet made a nice chunk of change due to players and whole guilds transferring to and fro. Some guilds on T1 are on their 4th and 5th transfers, lol.

Next to the opening day sales, I bet this was the 2nd biggest month for Anet in terms of cash flow.

In the end we all win as it will allow them to continue supporting the game………..

But in other news relating to Smokees post, BG is the server to go to for having the best fights because out of SoR/JQ/BG They have the shortest queues by far

For the short term yes but that can change in a heart beat. At the end of season when a pct. of WvW players on JQ realize they don’t meet the season requirements for their carrot and/or get tired of waiting in queue even during off peak NA hours guarantee a chunk of them will transfer off JQ.

Jeezus, if I was a long term JQ player who logged during Oceanic / SEA time I’d be peed off. Their queues at that time were already bad to begin with.

I feel your pain OP but there are gonna be many in those high populated servers that won’t be able to meet the league minimum requirements to be eligible for end of season awards due to sitting in queue and/or maps completely favoring their servers colors so there is little to no properties to flip.

In fact there are a few high profile guilds in Tier 1 NA that have transferred off already or plan on dropping to lower tiers due to the above issue and am sure there will be more transferring as season 1 winds down.

In other words, Grass is not always Greener…

Last Sunday a pve commander with his tag up had his auto run on as he lodged his charcter up in a corner wall section. He was there close to a hour hogging up queues on EB. He probably had to step out or something and didn’t want to re-queue but this sort of behavior is very inconsiderate to his server mates. That particular guild is a longtime resident as well so was disappointing to see.
