TKS TSS and THS specialized in killing tequatl.
Today we made history : down at 7:42 remaining.
Nicely played!
Nicely played, great video btw. Will be forever in memory to watch over and over again.
Darkhaven is one of the lowest populace servers and I wager you guys get little to no guesting just to tackle Tequatl so you accomplished this feat amongst your server brethren only. Just goes to show, a little organization goes a long way. It’s not easy leading a group of random players with all sorts of guild tags, casuals, etc. etc., particularly for a tough boss like Tequa, great job by Swifty in taking the intiative to organize….
/respect DH
Thanks Scoot really do appreciate it. I mean just look at about every thread on the forums. We were always listed as one of the servers that would never kill Teq.
Indeed. For whatever reason the complainers on this forum for Teq Talk still think this fight is all about numbers. Spamming the dragon with sheer numbers and dpsing him down, haha. They neglect great threads like this one alongside the myriad of helpful threads from other servers and guilds.
It is what it is…again congrats!
Does that mean Anet thinks there are problems with the Tequatl fight?
Not all achievements should be handed out on a silver spoon. Few hard mode events are welcome in a MMO and this is coming from someone who has yet to down Teq and believe me I’ve tried, haha.
Have fun finding a server with the number of players needed to defeat Tequatl.
And this content is not meant to be exclusive to large guilds.
Yep, this lone achievement has ruined my gaming experience forever….

This will be my last response in this topic….
If you haven’t noticed by the vibe of the Tequatl Rising forums thus far is regardless of whether or not you on a high populace server, you are doomed to fail less you pre organize a raid and most are on voip. Just having sheer numbers with no organization means nada, I should know, am on a high populace server and most of our random raids (although we have the numbers) have fail miserably vs this world boss but again it’s expected given the fact I and many others have not been fortunate enough to latch onto a pre organized raid party yet.
Read the thread of servers/raids that have accomplished this achievement and you will find the only similarity they share is the raids are pre-organized, everyone has a set role, proper buffs, traits, etc. and are all on VOIP. Just joining a random without this list of requirements will end up in fail regardless of the numbers that are participating.
Have a nice day and good luck…
If you can’t see the issue of players guesting on servers with toned down world bosses, sorry can’t help ya there…
That makes the fight fail too..
.
Looking at the thread of server accomplishments, no server group has defeated Teq without the majority being on VOIP. With or without afker’s, if you are in a random where everyone relies upon chat box typing, consider the chances of you downing Teq at 0.0000001 pct.
DH is not my server….they shared their accomplishments in a recent thread.
While I understand your pain, if Anet were to scale down this world boss due to circumstances you share, what do you think will happen? That’s right, you will get a slew of players from others servers guesting on yours for EZ mode.
Darkhaven is probably one of the lowest population servers. Here is a link for your motivation…
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B80aE_q37eU
Are you simply a follower or a leader who can rally your server?
A portion of a game that relies strictly on server coverage was doomed to fail in terms of players being kittened off. Adding leagues to a system of this sort is even worse as it creates more players to jump ship.
Nicely played, great video btw. Will be forever in memory to watch over and over again.

So i downed teq around 7 times now
Need to see all 7 screenshot kills with timestamps or it never happened…
Don’t give in Anet, it’s nice to have hardmode on occasion…
Hope you enjoy playing by yourself then, because if all the content goes on par with tequatl the funless, casual players are going to abandon ship so fast. Doubt a game that relies on monetization is going to risk scaring off their silent majority.
Agreed, it’d be poor design if they make ALL future world boss content in this fashion. As I stated from earlier post, “On OCCASION hardmode is needed in games of this nature”
Not all achievements should be handed out on a silver spoon ………..
Notice the recent posts of servers, “WE DID IT…CONGRATS” popping. Talk of 100++ gathering and joining on teamspeak to make it happen. Server pride, players gathering together to make it happen in a MMO, nothing wrong with it.

Props to Swifty, the commander who held us all together the last few days. Couldn’t have done it without him. Great job to everyone else who was on turrets, fingers, and everything else. Phase transitions went PERFECTLY.
Is this the same Swifty from WoW? Congrats btw…………
Yeah this part kind of worries me. Even if it’s a long time before other world bosses get a similar make over there’s no way that the Tequatl fight is sustainable in its current state. I mean, once the next living story comes out people will be flocking to that making the 100+ manpower requirement impossible to achieve for Teq. If they don’t change it so the fight scales down once boss week is over I seriously doubt anyone will ever kill him ever again.
that’s okay. Not all achievements should be ez mode….
…endless SOR rant snipped…..
mikal.9502, seek help immediately, enroll in the next Doctor Phil episode man….HOLY COW BATMAN look at your post history!!
1) Funny thing about SOR……….
2) everyone but you seems to be aware of the trend. SOR was 1…….
3) How can SOR care about the fights and not the PPT
4) Keep it up SOR, T2 is getting closer and closer.
5) The score is no surprise as SOR doesn’t even try to win anymore.
6) That leaves SOR ………..
7) Why SOR will lose again this week.
8) There is no communication in SOR at all.
9) still wating on SOR.
10) SOR doesn’t belong on the same battlefield with JQ or BG.
Yup, I avoid all PVE for the most-part because I find it extremely boring and not challenging. Finally we have pve content that requires a community to band together, and fight in an organized manner in pve. I hope there is more content like this coming.
Good job Anet!
Agreed, this world boss fight is pretty amazing.
Don’t give in Anet, it’s nice to have hardmode on occasion…
Funny thing about SOR. Two weeks ago it had an easy match-up and you had to wait like an hour to get into WVW. Last week it was back to fighting Blackgate and JQ and SOR losing and you could get into WVW no wait anytime. This week another easy match….and the hourly queue is back.
SOR sure does like to beat up on the little guy and when a fair fight shows up, they run home…..
I just looked at your posting history… Jeezus Christ Batman, your obsession with SOR is a bit out of whack there son, in fact you are giving the other SOR troll, Stealth a run for her money. Good job, it’s nice to have fan girls on our server!

I used to spend hours running supplies, upgrading, and building siege, because I thought it was useful. But when a zerg PvDs into a T3 in under 10 minutes, those hours feel completely wasted. So when our commander tells us to not bother defending because “we’ll flip it later for wxp”, I have a hard time arguing with it anymore. Frankly, it makes it seem pointless to try and defend anything, and if there’s no reason to defend, for me there is really very little reason to capture either, since I don’t care about wxp.
Agreed, and there are also gonna be times one does the dirty job and sits at a keep for hours on end, call out an incoming well in advance only to hear the commanders on map chat say, “Let em take it, we get it back later”. Well you basically just wasted hours watching it, haha….so yes in reality more “rewards” are gain re-flippin, so let the opposition grab and join the crowd to retake it later.
Aside from being bored out of your mind, there is none. You get more gains re-flippin objectives so let the opposition take it and reclaim again.
Matches are already determined mid week….
Friday night resets are good as hardcore WvW’ers can play GW2 not only late into Friday but do a late night gaming session Saturday as well after coming home from the bars/clubs.
I still haven’t heard the reward system for this league. If it’s equivalent to the present rewards of basically a virtual gold medal pat on the head and percentage buff in resource gathering, etc. who really cares?? Most of the avid GvG guilds of present and past like Sacrx and Red Guard aren’t really gonna give a hoot if they finish first or last in these leagues as they are gonna be looking primarily for good battles.
If you made it buff supply instead of stats it would be very worthwhile.
7% more supply per area held on you Dolyaks and in your supply camps
Therefore, holding that buff will make the buff very tactical. Holding all 3 would allow you to fortify your Garrison or SM 21% faster.
This is actually a good idea.
They play in upper tiers because they want to feel like they’re winning. Some people actually enjoy the huge zerg fighting. 30-40 is a healthy number imo.
Actually lots love upper tiers because there is constant action 24/7. Can you say the same for your tier when you log on at 3am during the middle of a week?
Skill lag makes WvW unplayable !
Fix it Anet or u will lose more players..!
Anet can resolve it by going with 8 bit Nintendo graphics like WoW. Minimize # of players allowed in WvW by half and adding in queues and dummying down the computations needed in battle, aka no food buffs, trait buffs, runes, etc.
If you have a bad commander, call them out on it repeatedly and find someone else to lead. People will stop following them.
If you call players out on map chat, all that’s gonna do is cause a lot of unnecessary flame wars and chat drama. Best thing to do is Shaddap and just not follow the guy/girl. He/she will soon get the message.
Skill lag will always stay. Think of the server having to keep up with a multitude of players all in one area, spamming skills, dodging, computing food buffs, trait buffs etc. Server has to compute all this information of a mass of players on screen and send it back to you in real time….lol. Frankly am surprised the engine runs as good as it does.
Don’t need Anet to install more artificial handcuffs when it’s such an easy fix by you having the will power to just not follow them, hard concept I know.
Commanders on each respective servers earn their reputations, good or bad.
Remember this one commander a month or so ago fighting on the bridge on the way to Hills getting easily flanked over and over resulting in the group getting wiped. After the 2nd wipe he was at the spawn point and typed in map chat, “Hey!, where did everybody go?” hah!
(edited by scootshoot.6583)
Why? (I don’t do GvG.)
Is it because they don’t contribute to ppt and cause ppt players to be stuck in the queue and thus hurt the performance of their server?
If this is the case, GvG players would do well to move to the lower tiers where there are no queues except possible for a few hours on reset.
Everybody wins in this case. Low tier servers get some population and GvGers can GvG.
It’s just the vocal minority barking on messageboards, nothing more nothing less. Peruse through all the other MMO game forums and you will no doubt feel the same vibe…………
Mad respect for Indo and crew. These boys and girls originally were on Jade Quarry during its peak of domination when that server was reeling off gold medal T1 wins week after week for months on end. Rather than stick to the Gravy Train server they transferred off to the underdog realm (which not many players and guilds can say) of SOR which at that time had Zero T1 victories.

What happened to SoR? Did they all just give up after they lost the lead? :/
Nothing changed with the participation level on SoR. We aren’t going to pull an “all-call” just to combat your “all call”.
There was no server wide “all call” this week. As far as individual guilds I can’t say though, our NA turn out has been fairly nice this week.
GoF done an all-call but that influenced other people to play longer therefore causing an unexpected server wide all-call
I don’t think it was that simple, although I would agree that GoF lit a fire early this week. It just happened and picked up some steam. There are many variables that will determine the winner now, but in the end it really boils down to the server that is the most interested in a win any given week. Participation is down across the board in T1 by my estimation, but it feels like T1 is more balanced in terms of average numbers than it’s ever been, which is a good thing. Who will win next week? Whoever collectively cares the most throughout the week. That’s where things are it seems, and I’m cool with that. My 2 cents on the topic.
Pretty good summary Liquid. GW2 is a year old with no sub fee so one does not feel pressured to login for extended periods 7 days a week to get their monthly sub fee worth, hah!
There are some long awaited titles on the horizon as well. Recently released FFXIV am sure has grabbed attention from a few GW2 gamers, Grand Theft Auto 5 is being released in 10 days! Blizzard has another cash cow on their hands with the upcoming Hearthstone……….
SoR is the underdog during SEA, both JQ and BG have fantastic guilds and numbers during this timezone. If you are looking for a challenge to fight some great guilds while also working with some fantastic people within a strong growing community, SoR is the place for you. But be prepared to fight against greater numbers and test yourself daily.
This ^^
Choice is yours. Pound on vacant structures for hours at a time or are you the type of player/guild looking for a challenge and want to be the difference maker….
where’s the tacticall depth, are we all forced to play the meta to compete or is there any chance on adding tools to deal with play 2 win in outmanned situations.
As a month old nub to GW2 back in the day, I used to think just smashing button #1 and following a zerg ball required no skill nor tactical play. That is until you come across competent commanders on teamspeak and your opinion will change. You will quickly come to the conclusion the commanders tactics and discussions on the field pretty much make or break the morale of the troops he/she is leading and no two commanders are alike as you will find a few to avoid running with at all costs, haha.
Scouts need to be rewarded more, they do a crucial job, but it is going to be very, very hard rewarding them in a way that won’t be abused by other players…
Given that being a scout often involves standing around doing nothing…
Just do a 15 – 30 minute rotation, problem solved.
Best WvW I’ve had in this game was last night on SoR with Wrex and then Djins commanding, nothing short of epic !
Djins wanted those noodles so bad but the noodles kept running away… my ears had a hangover after it all
Those are great, excellent, experienced commanders, yes, but BEST WvW? Oh Dear, I feel sorry for you having never experenced a pressure situation without having Kakine command for you, and your saying Dgjin better than FEAR lead commander Ace too? Boy your priorities ><
Chill Jr. That particular posters views is highly dependent on what commanders he gets to roll with at his given play time.
If they fixed server lag WvW would be so much better. I know its possible because other MMO’s have thousands of people on a map with no lag.
Those others MMO’s probably compensate by using 8 bit Nintendo graphics like WOW or utilize near basic combat.
As an example, aside from the awesome graphics, animation and the like. GW2 also has a huge variety of effects, not just via weapon and trait skills but the near endless array of enchants, rune effects, food buffs, etc. The server basically has to keep track of all this information of a mob of players doing their thing and process it back to the user in real time. Frankly am surprised it runs as well as it does, haha.
Free transfers would have been fine for a few weeks as people got settled in but Anet allowed it to happen for way too long. Believe it was close to 2 months or more…
I have a thief, doesn’t mean I like playing it though. and there are some things you cant counter.
thief insane damage + nonstop stealth regen and chain blinding being one.
Name of Thief and server? Based on your post, no you don’t have a 80 thief
OP, roll a Thief.
I realize getting kittenganked and getting outplayed by a certain class suxxxor and it’s in your given right as a consumer to kittenrage quit and post here soon after. That said, just roll a thief as it will give you a better perspective of a certain classes strengths and weakness.
There’s just no way to create a fair scoring system, one which determines the victor by skill over numbers. .
Did you play WOW? A game which rewards points to attain gear and of which the numbers are always equal due to queues so mostly it’s decided by skill…and how did them forums look? It’s been an endless QQ fest on those boards since release, haha.
No different here… online gamers will always have something to gripe about…it’s what we do.
Working as intended. Next topic!
Drunken commander link was funny stuff, thanks for sharing
Risen Thrall … 20, 244, 620 player kills (and counting)
Over 23 million caravans destroyed in WvW ^.^
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/guild-wars-2-the-first-year/
Look up Red Guard GvG videos on youtube, they facerolled a lot of top guilds running 10-0 streaks on several of them.
Let’s talk all things zerg busting shall we.
I want both sides of the coin though. So I zerg bust frequently with my guild. We generally run 15 and take on much larger numbers. Yes we wipe because let’s face it wipes happen.
I wanna get the perspective of ppl who get busted and the feelings you experience.
Finally lets talk about those totally RANDOM encounters where 2 zerg busting groups collide in let’s say 15v15 or 20v20 fights.
/discuss
Although they are retired, perhaps you can find Sacrx of Red Guard and ask their secrets. These bad boys seem to know what they doin. Look at them bust those red blobs with far fewer numbers, they seemed to enjoy hunting for the biggest blobs they can find…..
We have had discussions about this type of thing
it certainly holds promise
It’s a long-term goal of ours to
I can’t say how that will play out eventually, nor when.
Devon being Devon again..
Devon would make a great politician, that’s for sure.
Thieves need the ability to run around in perma stealth with no timer like WoW. Would also like to stun lock peeps for 6 seconds when enough adrenaline/combo points have built up.
Do you know how to code cause I wager changes of this nature will be a huge timesink.
Go learn C++ and send your resume to Anet.
Yes, how foolish of me, to suggest changes that require a development company, to you know, devolop something.
Perfect answer. That type of opinions are so annoying, it’s like some players do NOT want ArenaNet developers .. develop.
Am just being realistic. Wholesale changes to this part of the game is not gonna happen 1 year into release, particularly in a Free 2 Play model when Anet has already hit their sales peak in terms of retail boxes / digital download sales.
