There’s a reason SoR is the only server to get #1 without the FULL status and the only server that has gone up the highest number of ranks to get to #1.

It takes a lot of organization and unity along with positive, charismatic, and vibrant leaders to grow a community and keep it strong.

Everyone who has played on other servers and then comes to SoR say it is like night and day, the difference between other servers and SoR.

SOR commanders quickly dissolve troll or negative talk in TS as well which is why unneeded drama rarely happens in SOR. Had an incident of two well known and active Oceanics last week where some random frustrated guy on TS started to bark, “if such and such <guild> came to help us sooner we would not have lost all the siege I placed…”

Instead of the above comment being taken out of context in public teamspeak, the commander of the guild being accused simply stated, “hmmm, I doubt it would have made any difference”. The rest of the chat agreed from both guilds and that negative talk was quickly extinguished.

So kudos to those involved that day (you know who you are!) to handle the lone frustrated gamer in a respectful manner and to prevent that incident from escalating further.

Interesting perspective. And if it is true, impressive if they’ve got the entire server all on the same page. How that is even possible I don’t know though, so many different players and guilds.

I dunno I’m still trying to figure that one out.

It probably has to do with the fact that the WvW guilds to join SoR did not come expecting to win T1. BG/JQ were the top dogs at the time and they came looking for the best fights GW2 had to offer, but of course no one knew how badly attrition would affect the top dogs at the time. SoR being #3 for so long and appearing weak in all but NA prime only attracted a certain type of player/guild, those who weren’t looking for easy wins, but good fights and good competition. They have always been on the same page IMO.

In adding, when SOR was stuck in 3rd place for months on end, we also had our fair share of individuals and guilds that simply did not care about good fights or competition so the server lost those types of players to transfers as well. In essence this was a good thing as it allowed SOR to trim the fat of dead weight. I know one particular poster here (name withheld for obvious reasons) who transferred to JQ just a week prior to JQ going under, talk about the worst timing to join them when he was probably hoping to be carried to T1 weekly dominance, haha.

I would be too. Especially if I was one of many Blackgate players consistently crying about double teams.

Double teams happen in general, but from what I’m seeing this was planned in advance. Such a tragedy to have happen in T1, but we welcome the challenge. More bags for us.

I don’t think anyone is crying especially when SoR is winning the war.
I remember that Indo in his speech asked for 2v1 fights against SoR to make this match more challenging, more so he is actively helping with recruiting guilds for BG and JQ. One example is the BT guild which if they have joined SoR it would have completely imbalanced the match. I would love to see that type of unselfish attitude from everyone to cover each one’s weak spots and coverage.
Let’s all work together helping each other to make this a better match.

Look at dragonbrand’s this week matchup, its not helping their own server that they are steamrolling their opponents. In fact, none of the 3 servers are having fun.

I hope DB’s morale is sky high and if Anet’s new matching system works as advertised, this latest faceroll should catapult them to a T1 matchup this Friday.

We’ll see if DB can walk the walk when they arrive to T1, hopefully it’s this Friday as they will have high morale coming off a T3 faceroll over Maguuma and Stormbluff….

As dwahvel already mentioned, if you are a highly respected well known commander on your server, form a large group of trusted and skilled players (if the wvw players respect and know your reputation on the battlefield you should have zero difficulty finding followers) and play for the fights and work on your tactics for future matches.

We only thought that it was ok to talk to our SOR friends but your right for no reason other than being on BG we should be banned. You can probably answer your own question. Is there any T1 server besides BG that has had the amount of WVW guilds join them in the past month? MEOW, THAI, WM, BT, RISE, etc. I know am forgetting at least several more. All these guilds transferred specifically for WvW.

In other words I believe the perception BG is stacked is based upon the frequency of WvW guild transfers your server seems to get every week. Also your server status seems to state “Full” 24/7 so kudos to you guys for being able to add as much WvW guild transfers at the rate you do.

Now if we want to debate Quality vs Quantity, that’s a topic for another day……

I once guested to SoR and was in lion’s arch. The only people(very few) there were from [choo],[Tsym], etc. In SoS, we have all our LA commanders standing about and complimenting eachother’s legendary weapons and culture armor. So you see the difference. SoR was in 3rd place for quite some time. That is not a very attractive server for PVE’rs since they don’t get many PVE benefits. But this should change now that SoR is undoubtedly #1 NA.
On a more serious note, I am considering transferring to a tier 1 server. BG and JQ are out of the question since they are both FULL status 24×7. And JQ, well, I hold a long time grudge against them since they were a big part of SoS’s downward spiral to tier 4. Which leaves BG, but it is FULL. I have just recently got into WvW and spend 90% of my time in WvW, but it is not as half as fun as it used to be when SoS was in t1. My question is, is SoR active during UK hours? Is it too active such that there is a que on every borderland? If so, how long are the ques?

Come guest to our server during your play hours and look for a commander with an “IRON” tag. They can fill you in.

Every militia in the game thinks SoR is stacked to the max. Why would the tick matter to them? Welcome to being the new superpower and welcome to your new battle: that of boredom, Fixeon. We, on the other hand (JQ and strikeforce) are loving it. I actually moved to JQ from SoR because I like being the underdog. It’s a role I cherish. And there’s always good fights, no matter what, from our perspective.

I wonder how many late transfers JQ got before the server morale crumbled? Gotta feel bad for them!

JQ’s demise started with that very public internal spat with an ex JQ commander and half his guild leaving for DB. For whatever reason it started a negative chain of events…….

To be fair, we had some great fights in Bay, we actually hopped to EB cause we changed commanders and thought we might have some fun on EB. If you ever see us on a map / disappear from a map and want to fight just give us a whisper

It was fine for us we where only there for another 30mins after all RK can only be active for 3-4 hours a night because we are still a small guild. Very active, but no numbers to stay active for long.

Now i will ignore offski for now because every guild have blowhards with little sens who can’t see the bigger picture of a fight.

The two best fights was the fight in between bay and garri when we where staring one another down for a bit to see who did what. I was trying to get you to charge us, but in the end our vale faint worked.

The other fight is when we went inside BAY with your forces on the Bridge and took the top of the walls. You sent +10 around back to flank.

My plan was to let your 10 get closer, charge them in a faint and then come plug op the stairs and it worked, but you where to many. At least we manged to down a ton of yours so it was all good.

Actually Waage, it’s not that difficult for the blowhards to figure out and this includes all the blowhards for any tier/server. If one comes to the public forums and falsely bashes a respected commander, expect to be trolled, ridiculed in defense of him/her.

Same could be said if you were a future target as well. I would be surprised if none on your server come forward and speak on your behalf (assuming you have a good server rep to begin with of course).

JQ, BG, and DB were all in a green position for so long which probably attracted many PvE players who wanted the buffs.

I know there were a few SOR pve small guilds and individuals that transferred to JQ just for that reason.

If anything SOR’s months long attrition hardened the server and trimmed the fat (aka pve transfers)….

In addition to the removal of culling, the meta-game for WvW has changed quite a bit. You used to see QQ posts on the forums because one server or another was “zerging” all over the map with a group of 35 people all bunched up together; that group has now ballooned to 60-80 people! At one time, this was mainly a Tier 1 problem, but since this strategy is the easy-button way to take over a map, it has trickled down through all of the servers with enough population to handle it. And that seems to be the main reason why you’re seeing more lag, more often over the last few months (there was always lag, but it used to be a Friday-night problem, or an Eternal Battlegrounds problem, and many servers didn’t even notice it.) And the part that really gets to many people is that you don’t have to be in the big 80v80 battle yourself, anyone on the same map as that battle is going to be wearing out the “1” button on their keyboard until it ends.

Again, Anet is aware of the problem and says they’re working on it, and many of us are hopeful of a solution. I would actually be pleasantly impressed if they can really eliminate lag, as it seems to be something you run into somewhere in almost any popular MMO. It is particularly annoying in WvW, though.

Actually, the 60-80 group existed way before people complained about it. They only complained about the supposed 35 group because that is all they see.

Seems like we are the new Casuals/PvE server. Wish we weren’t but what can you do. I guess Tier 2 is looking good for us. Its a shame, because we have alot of dedicated and decent players and guilds in WvW, but we are jukittenll because we have all these casuals who don’t WvW and are happy with where we are and the community we have so we can’t get many more players/guilds in who play WvW because of them. We do get “VERY FULL” for about 3-4 hours a day from what I am seeing. I hope Anet takes a more serious look at the way population cap effects WvW in the future and not just the server status component but the map and everything else that goes with WvW so that all servers can have a chance because its messed up right now.

You guys have the highest # of first place finishes then the other 2 servers combined, have nothing to be ashamed of. It’s hard to maintain that pace week after week.

PVE players are all about reward carrots, they love them. Am sure they will show up in force consistently once the new changes are in effect for wvw.

We’re not burnt out haha. We never did any kind of significant overtime over the past two weeks. We’re just getting double teamed. we’re cool with it though. We love the challenge. You seem to always pop out when you guys win to troll and brag. i suppose you’re from RISE?

Anyway, good fights in EB tonight. [RISE] had fun with our [JL] allies fighting against SoR and the (seemingly) revitalized JQ.

Well it is probably because RISE transfered up to bg, and instantly started kitten talking the guilds on both JQ and SoR. Many of those trash talkers are gone, but like a certain other bg guild, it was enough to tarnish their rep. That rep will stay tarnished for a while, but in time people will look at RISE like an actual guild. But until then, RISE is viewed as a trolly bandwagened guild that feeds bags.

RISE trash talk was just that. They were just trying to become a part of the community and probably jumped the gun because its a different community they have been in. No big deal. No “tarnished reputations”. Their conduct then is still better than what I see from some guilds that have been in Tier 1 for a long time.

If anyone from RISE is still running their mouth, please let the officers know so they can be promptly kicked. We don’t need that sort of thing.

Eviator brings up a good point and his scenario will happen and guaranteed there will be plenty of QQ threads (rightly so) due to peeps stuck on a border with a thumb up their kitten waiting for the cooldown.

A few posters mentioned to delete the local.dat file found where your screen shot folder is. Just remember your password/login as it will reset it.

I feel many people are questioning BG’s willingness to fight right now because they’re severely underperforming. Previously, BG showed how powerful they were with the number of guilds they absorbed. Now, somehow, the 5-6 prominent guilds they have absorbed just disappeared. BG reminds me greatly of Dragonbrand now.

Did BG have a very active wvw guild, started with a H?? I recall them being very active in game as they ran in mass numbers and many posted on the forums month or two ago and all of a sudden nada. No warning, thanks for the fights good bye messages….just flat out vanished.

Now I can see the commanders taking a break and the still active members be spotted here and there but all of them are nowhere to be found in wvw or the forums.

Anyways you should know that wrex was doing this for the laugh and trying to get some fights. Instead of the cat and mouse games.

And he chose a really poor way to do it.

You know, I have always hated JQQ. I think they’re the biggest bunch of whiners around and i love seeing them lose but the rubbish that comes out of your guildies’ mouths are pretty cringeworthy considering you’ve just transferred and already you’re acting like you carry the server while SoR had been competent to begin with.

Winning, losing, it don’t matter. I’ve seen server come and go, from back when Henge was dominating to the rise of JQ to SoS. Look at Kaineng and where they are now. Nobody wins forever. No one lose forever. The only thing that matters is how you present yourselves. Sure, it’s all for giggles. Sure it was just trolling to get the blood pumping. That doesn’t stop you from being a prik though.

There are better ways to go about getting a fight; being a forum warrior isn’t one of them.

We never ever stated we carry SoR. For all i know th reason we have it “so easy” is because SoR’s SEA and Oceanic.

But i was scouting yesterdays JQ zerg in Eb yesterday. They ran with atleast 60 players taking every BG they could consume. We even circles around the BGkeep to catch them. And we were 25 iron with 15-18 allies..
Still they ran towards bravost and stayed in. We started trebbing them. And instead of coming out, they start counter trebbing.

On BG border earlier that evening we had no competition. Thats the only reason we went to EB.

Ohm you guys brought over a massive army that no one have numbers to compete against. RK is the only active EU wvw guilds on any of the servers that have numbers close to yours and you outnumber us by 10-20 people in most cases.

This information was available to you when you transferred over. When BG goes down a tier or get mixed out there will be no forces left to fight you. We have the latest Asian going into EU. This was all known information.

I scoped out Server status yesterday at 1pm and Blackgate was top dawg in population followed by JQ, both servers stated FULL. In other words BG has the numbers online alongside the fact 1pm central is a great timeslot to tick ppt if you can field players.

You should take your frustrations out on your server mates for standing on the sidelines for so long and rally the troops! ;D

So when did SoR decide to stay up late/wake up early to push us at SEA? Let me say now not taking anything away from SoR just asking some questions. I am noticing alot more SoR on at SEA time and its guilds that have been there before IRON was there. Btw don’t try to tell me that you have same numbers as 3+weeks ago when FOO and friends were dominant. All that aside not trying to start something but asking the question. Where did SoR get the SEA force they have atm? Either way props to you guys. And GL in upcoming battles.

Our SEA guilds, AFS, NYS and SAHP are now in full force. With the addition of IRON, a few NA and some small guilds, we’re finally able to have a bigger presence in SEA time and provide some huge resistance for Waha and Jang Gun.

Indeed. What the aforementioned group does (/respect) is prevent Waha’s massive forces from ticking 550++ PPT for hours on end which they used to do quite frequently at that timeslot.

I guess I am one of the few who thinks that playing against the same servers all the time is a good thing. I actually thought that was how it was going to be back before the beta weekends started and I was disappointed when they made the matches so short and temporary.

It allows for a healthy hate to develop, the kind you get during sports playoffs. I mean, even if the servers DO change…what will change for us out on the field except the nameplates over the red heads? So yes, I will readily admit to having a “healthy” hate for every server SoR has ever played against (with a special place reserved for Dragonbrand).

In spite of that, I have to give Cuddlestrike props; one of the few (only?) posters to be unrelenting in terms of politeness. I know for a fact I can’t be as polite (I’m far too volatile, far too easily annoyed and way too much of a smartazz) but I think if we all tried to be more “Cuddlestrikish”, the forums would be a nicer place.

Rivalries will still happen as it sounds like only the rotation of opponents will be quicker so SOR will eventually meet JQ or BG again.

Based on the vibe of this board, am sure JQ would love to meet DB sooner rather than later (and vice versa) on the battlefield. That match should be pretty epic as there is plenty of server pride, hate, rivalry involved due to the transfers.

Also recall several DB posters a few weeks back were putting salt on SOR’s wounds as they were pretty much predicting at that time SOR would trade places with them so if SOR were to meet DB……..well ya know.

@ Esqi, JQ Asian squad led by Waha of FOO has been bringing it all week. They knocked off almost 10k ppt between 1st and 2nd place just last night. Unfortunately for JQ once they log off things start to go down hill.

JQ started to tick well under 200 when Waha logs, then decided to see what your population looked like at 1pm CST. OUCH!

If only you guys can get at least 20-25 pct wvw participation of your FULL server during the early afternoons (which is a huge advantage) to continue the momentum of what FOO had left behind…..

Most probably don’t buy em due to cost. Am sure it will be part of the random loot table for the upcoming changes to wvw achievement reward chests Anet mentioned a few days ago.

It’s pretty amazing JQ hasn’t dominated this week as many from sor and bg can’t control objectives for extended periods this week…many in TS just refuse to zone there, hehe.

As for Maguuma, PYRO (by far largest guild in Maguuma, fielding a good 33-50% of their total wvw population every night) is moving to a tier 1 server (BG or JQ) this week. D/ERP might move with them or they might stay (these 2 guilds are pretty close). Not sure why anyone would consider them stable right now. Either way, I am glad to see tier 3 having a chance to stablize. The total domination by Maguuma every day is not fun for anyone, winner or loser alike.

people actually believe that rumor? Why would 2 guilds that love smaller scale battles go into overpopulated tiers to fightarge scale battles? Say what you want but our community is pretty stable, I’m not saying we are the most stable out there but a lot of the players on this server love maguuma, and even if there guild transfers, a majority of their players won’t go because they have made this server there home for quite some time now, and we are not doing anything other then playing the way we always have so us ‘demolishing’ the tier isn’t because of us but because of lack of other servers participation however this does not belong in this thread, but in our matchup thread, my apologies. Can’t edit now though since I’m on my phone and I can’t move around easily. Continue.

It’d be pretty kitten to transfer now with the impending changes to the ranking system anyways alongside all the other numerous changes coming to wvw. I do realize however many players don’t bother reading developer posts or patch notes, haha.

Have to feel sort of bad for the recent BG transfers in Rise, WM, Meow, Thai, etc. They definitely did not transfer to BG for “PVE” content as that could be had anywhere.

All that gold farming to pay for transfers and look what it’s gotten them. BG, NA “FULL” server has basically given up for the 2nd straight week.
