I’d recommend neither.
For HOT, wait until Christmas for it to hit 25-50% off at authorised retailers.
For FO4, wait until June 2016 for it to hit 25-50% off, most likely at Amazon or Steam.
That’s what I’ll be doing.
In the meantime, you can enjoy some of the games currently on sale at Steam. Or, if you’re an MMO nut like me, play something else until HOT goes on sale at the end of the year.

Dear Anet,
I’m sure its just me, because I didn’t already see this on the forum, but how hard would it be to let my pet names be stored with the pet?
Actually, Rangers have been asking for this since August 2012.

I use mouse turn. Perhaps I should replace “responsive” with “loose?” Maybe it’s a screen wobble issue in Tera which does not happen to me in GW2. Maybe it’s not the controls, maybe it’s some issue in how the games render rapid scene shifts. However, it seems that its due to rapid turning. I just know that I had issues in both Tera and in ES:Ob and don’t in GW2.
Sounds like a mouse sensitivity issue.

Seems a lot better than mine, a 2010 Acer Aspire 4820TG. I run GW2 on low, no problems so far.

Movement and camera controls feel very similar to other MMOs I’ve played, minus those mouse=camera ones like Neverwinter, TERA.

I have tried to NOT read anything about the trait changes but no matter what I seem to do I keep finding out more about them and IT bothers me that it is starting to sound like the same crap Blizzard did to WoW and Bioware did to SWToR ..
I disagree that it’s crap. Their old talent tree system has its fun parts, but it’s too easy to be a trap for players. Also makes future content hard to balance for the lowest common denominator. Things like this create further divides in the playerbase, commonly called elites vs casuals. WOW/SWTOR’s current system is pretty good, everyone has the essential tools they need to function, and they still get to make meaningful choices based on their survival/utility preference. When you can’t mess up the basics of the class, it becomes more of a skill test between everyone.

Leveling a class to 80 is no longer fun for me after the April 2014 trait change, which locks all traits away behind completing tiresome things. I level through daily logins now. If you can wait, wait for HOT to come up with the new trait system. If you must need someone to tell you what to level, go level a Ranger. Best fun I had leveling (pre-April2014).

Proudest achievement: My first character, an Asura Ranger, was leveled 1-80 without using any level boosting items (Instant20, Level+1, Level+0.05) (I don’t remember the item names).
This remains my greatest achievement, when I was enjoying the leveling process, back then near launch. Since then, my second 80, a Mesmer, used the Instant20, about 40 +1s and as many +0.05s as I could get. My upcoming-80, a Guardian (currently 41), is the same. It’s mainly because I really hate how the traits are so troublesome to get while leveling, post April 2014.
I’m really looking forward to the trait changes come HoT.

On my first character to 80, the speed was just right, maybe even a little fast, compared to other MMOs I have played before.
On my second character onwards, it’s much too slow.
Working on: Engineer
I am excited for it!
Working on: Engineer
Although the first step when it comes to lag is to run a trace when it is occurring and see where it is actually happening.
Yeah. The problem might be with you, or your ISP, or any of the potentially dozens of hops in between, or ANet’s servers’ ISP.
Of which, only one of the above applies to ANet.
Working on: Engineer
From personal experience…
The Secret World has the best community.
But GW2 is pretty high up.
Working on: Engineer
I’m absolutely looking forward to the DH!

Bow, check.
Traps, check.
Pet-less, check.

I AM IN LOVE WITH THIS REVEAL! Totally unexpected and unconventional! Well done ANet! <3

There’s a day/night cycle in GW2?

Quincy.
It’s a Bleach reference.

RNGesus demands more sacrifice!

You can always wait for a sale/discount before deciding to buy HoT.
Working on: Engineer
It’s RNG, you might get the portal on your first drop.

Longbow #4.
Every time you knock back a target, it removes a boon. You hit the enemy so hard that a boon falls off! The closer they are, the further they are knocked back, and therefore the greater the number of boons removed.

Have you tried flipping a coin?

If your goal is open world exploration and only playing dungeons with your guild, Ranger is actually a very good choice.
Working on: Engineer
Sounds like Engineers
Working on: Engineer
My Acer Aspire 4820TG from the year 2010 can play GW2 on low settings with constant 30fps (unless in a massive EOTM zerg). I’m sure if you buy anything with a proper graphics card from 2011 onwards you should be fine.

Ranger: male, maximum size, head largest. Was going for a super exaggerated look.
Guardian: female, just slightly bigger than medium.
Working on: Engineer
Ranger pet names saving properly.
Zero impact on PVE/PVP too!
Working on: Engineer
I like being the cleric more than the paladin, just sayin’.

Necromancer

We should have a different sale in the Gem Store everyday at 50-75% off!
Working on: Engineer
I liked how the Hunter pets handled in WOW, no complaints there. So for me, it would:
1. Major damage reduction against AOE (maybe only in dungeons?)
2. Instant activation of F2 skills. Press→Execute.
Working on: Engineer
As long as you’re farming for gold for chara slot, remember: Always wait for a sale.
Working on: Engineer
I would prefer they remove the cast time for the pet F2 abilities. Let them path to the enemy as it is now.
Working on: Engineer
And if they are, do you have any good classes to recommend as “beginner” classes?
Warrior, Ranger, Necromancer.
Working on: Engineer
Warrior, Ranger, Necromancer.
These 3 are hardy, and have comparatively simpler class mechanics.
Perfect for new players just starting out.
Working on: Engineer
Ranger. It even has the word “range” in its name!
Also, you are never alone.
(Meaning if you afk, your pet can help you fend off easier wandering monsters)
Working on: Engineer
I use:
E 2 3 4 5 (weapon)
X (healing)
C altC Z (utlities)
altZ (elite)

I’m from SEA, I don’t mind having SEA servers. But I would prefer a strong RP community, which SEA servers/games are not known for.
Working on: Engineer
I would find something else to play.
Working on: Engineer
I want a server in SEA too.
Working on: Engineer
I can name another MMO which has (IMO) “Great music, Fun Gameplay, good design &” a masterfully-told main storyline, but I can also name other problems which plague that MMO.
No game can ever match up to our full expectations. As long as the game is good enough, that should suffice.
Working on: Engineer
If ANet can spare the man hours, I think they should add this option, along with race change. Charge real cash for it would be good too, although I suppose a case could be made for gems.
More money for ANet is always good.
Working on: Engineer
GW2 runs pretty well on my PC and my 5-year old laptop. No complaints here.
Working on: Engineer
I have gotten every name that I wanted, so far without fail.
Perhaps you need to think of a less used name?
Working on: Engineer
I’d be a human Ranger who protects his small piece of land and family.
Working on: Engineer
Asura, of course.
Working on: Engineer
We are Rangers, we don’t need appreciation from anyone.
Working on: Engineer
Reintroduce the holy trinity, but make it so that every class/profession can fill in every trinity role in their own way if they are specced for it. So for example a thief can be a healer by getting healer gear and choosing healer traits, but then you can also have another thief who is a tank with tanky gear and tank traits. They’re both thieves and both have their thief abilities, but both play in a vastly different way and fill in a different role of the trinity.
Then design content around the trinity where a dedicated tank, dedicated healer and dedicated DPSer are required.
This is what I was hoping for when GW2 was starting its hype train back then.
Working on: Engineer
I will spend money for this class.
