They aren’t bots, and when you reply to their messages, it is exactly the same as sending an email to forums@arena.net. You will get a reply email either way.
Good luck.
Oh, that answers why I got a email about a support ticket when I replied to it ages ago :P That’s why I said that attempting to reply to it would redirect to Support.
Woot, thanks for the fix. Now we can safely double-click the proper field without reseting other fields :P Btw, can we have that minimum limit back? I don’t get why it was removed and it was useful when wishing to sell stuff to the lowest possible value. Allowing all fields to be 0 makes it hard to set it to the lowest.
Glad to see it got fixed. Thanks for it. However, can I insist in a request? Please, could we get rid of that auto-focus thing? I don’t see what’s the purpose of it and it becomes annoying when clicking a field and moving the mouse to see what’s beneath it and then accidentally having the other field focused. >.<
If you have any complaint or wish to make any appeal about anything on forums you can do that through email to forums@arena.net. Moderators usually won’t respond to PMs (no idea about the reason) and attempting to reply to it will forward it to Support.
And here we are again with this dumb feature. I still don’t get why they developed it so a player is put on the same story arc as someone else, even if temporarily. Not to mention that the window prompting to accept progression it isn’t so user-friendly. *facepalms*
Why forcing people to be put on the same story arc? Why not just finishing that story step and giving the proper credits while leaving the rest of story intact? If a player wants to keep following someone else’s story arc they can simply join them in their next instance again, no reason to mess with they story tracker. Can’t the amount of reports about this tell how confusing and user-unfriendly is it?
Well, given this is around since release and other dumb features like NPE haven’t been changed or tweaked so far, I’m not holding my breath to see it changed... *sighs*
And the DCs and sudden black screens are still happening :S
Actually, area currency usually doesn’t show in vendor windows. What it shows is only the currency used by that vendor, in this case it’s coincidentally the same as area currency. But yeah, it’s weird it’s showing 0 while you wallet shows different. But if you can purchase normally it’s just a weird visual glitch :S
Good thing, this thread is not about the idle animations.
Even though I posted this bug in there, too, the running animation should be considered as a separate topic. As I said before, there was an explanation for the idle animations, but not for the running animation. I will not post anything regarding the running animation bug in the above mentioned thread anymore. Out of respect, of course. ;-) But they still have my support.
So, I will upkeep this thread, which is about the human females running like males now problem. :-)
Surely, after I sent it I noticed that this one is different from the one I posted above but I had no time to come back and fix it. Apologize for any confusion.
I just don’t get why it would be impossible to fix this event. Does it mean that there won’t have time to fix it before it’s over or it’s soooo complex that it could break a lot of stuff? As a programmer myself I understand how these stuff works and how hard it can be but despite all I don’t think the last would be even true, this event doesn’t have any other so different mechanics from any other part of the game.
(edited by Moderator)
Well, if the game itself was that bad with such nasty behavior don’t you think that a lot more people would be complaining? From what I hear the issue isn’t with the game but something with your system.
Firstly I would suggest contacting Customer Support then they can assist you through it (https://help.guildwars2.com/anonymous_requests/new). I would suggest running some tools on your comp to check for disk issues (like “chkdsk” in Windows) as it possibly sounds like some disk failure, you also can do that test mentioned above to see if there is such issue. If disk is reasonably fine I would suggest repairing your game files as it may be some corrupted files related to that outfit, instructions for it is here: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client
And lastly, the game will never rename any shortcut or anything like. If such thing happened either you mistakenly renamed it or there may be some malware in your system (that could also cause I/O errors as it could disrupt normal operations) and in this case I would suggest running some antivirus scan or grab an antivirus if you haven’t any.
Just don’t curse the game without further proof that’s it which is causing such damage, if that was true this forum would be flooded by complaints and fury. Good luck!
- At least give experience for the kills and/or events. I mean, does it really hurt anything for occasional events like this to provide a faster way for people to level toons? If they happened every day, sure, but at an occasional interval it won’t hurt and goes a long way.
*says in sarcastic tone* Nooo, they want players to level up when they "think" players should be able to do so... *glances at NPE features* You aren’t "supposed" to level up when they "think" it’s not the time for it... :P
Yeah I was going to say there would be something wrong with your default browser (either it’s not set properly or not set at all) but since you said you are on Win 10 and I heard there is some “issues” related to default browser in it I can’t give much suggestions to help. From what I know Win 10 has some troubles when “trying” to set the default browser (it’s stubborn and keeps trying to use built-in one) so I would suggest doing as support said for now, it seems it’s something up with Win 10 actually.
- The DC issue is getting worse on some systems. It is not always our internet connections.
Yeah, I know right? :S I’m struggling with it for some time now (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Wth-Constants-disconnects-and-losing-credit)
Aaaand, they acknowledged it was a big fail: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Mordrem-Invasion-Update-11-September-12-30-PM
The good thing about this event though is a random wandering noob can get smacked down from the mordred’s cheap mechanics (they really are suited for group play with their CC, high HP, healing, homing bugs, and charges) before a vet zerg saves his kitten . Sometimes uppity noobs need a good smackdown. If a vet speaks you listen son. If a vet says don’t complete an event so that mobs can keep spawning you listen.
How to identify a noob: they will have starter and common dyes usually and lack an expensive skin on their weapon. If noobs want to earn their place as our equals they should have electro blue dye and a legendary or at least Mystic Forge weapon. With electro blue they either bought it or earned it as their third year gift so either way it’s a sign of a not noob.
Remember you also was a noob once and possibly did the same mistakes as any other noob usually does. :P Never forget your beginning :P
It makes me wonder if ArenaNet understands their player base, especially the F2P players… but it wouldn’t surprise me. They’d hardly be the first or only developer with that degree of disconnect.
Do you wonder if they understand their player base? Well, I believe that NPE thing answers that pretty well :P (off topic, I know, but I couldn’t avoid it)

Repair appending to the exe doesn’t work. Windows 7 gives a “file path is incorrect” so I deleted the older caches from a year ago instead. It is really excruciating how slow the TP is now.
Uh oh, too bad the suggestions given didn’t work for you. Wondering why Win 7 would throw that error though. Anyhow, I couldn’t give any other suggestions without further investigation :S Good luck.
Edit: oh wait, after I re-read your post I started wondering… how did you do to repair it? Appending “-repair” to path I suppose and then did the path have any spaces? If so did you enclose the exe path within quotes properly? It could be dumb questions but are easily missed.
E.g: if the path for the exe is C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe you have to make sure you use proper quotes when appending parameters. It should be like..
“C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -repair
..if using…
C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe -repair
..will fail as Windows will try only “C:\Program” and see “Files (x86)\Guild Wars..”
etc as parameters. So I would suggest verifying if it’s that way.

If it’s not a bug, then they really should mention it in under the list of restrictions.
And they should consider treating /emote more like /say rather than /map in the first place.
Yes, that’s how I said, since emote acts like map chat it possibly was included (intentionally or not) in the restrictions. Also yes, emote should never be map wide so a “simply fix” would make it like it was supposed to be: limited to “say” range, so no restrictions needed if it was the case.
I believe that’s a bug somehow tied to map chat restriction. For months (or years) emote has kind of worked like map chat, your emotes would be viewable for anyone in the map even far from you. Possibly that’s the case so since map chat is restricted it could have been unintentionally restricted too. (If so, yay, finally a reason to fix that kitten wide range emote :P)
Soooo? I just learn that stats increase are now given almost at each level, as it was before NPE... (no more stat burst it seems, yay) Then, are we going to get some other "features" of this **** NPE rethought too? :P
I’m still curious and looking forward to see what some F2P players would say about their first experience...
If I recall right contested waypoint doesn’t prevent you from discovering it, then adding it to your map completion. I can’t recall for sure then I don’t know if it’s this way, but I remember discovering contested waypoints on past.
That wasn’t quite what I meant. The event is bugged out right at the end, and I’m speculating that it’s removed the contested waypoint, but failed to replace it with an uncontested waypoint as part of ending the event.
Ah I see what you mean, but even so it’s weird. It would make sense if it didn’t bring the icon on map back after being uncontested, but contested waypoints aren’t removed from world (you still see that floating stone and stuff) then I think it would be still triggerable but I also don’t see any waypoint at that pic. O.o Weird.

Uh oh, wondering if an old bug is back… O.o
Try cleaning cache as I suggested above. Things tend to become laggy when cache gets big and old, same thing can happen with any browser per example. Try that and see if it would help with your case too.
After clearing the cache and repairing the client it looks like it has improved.
Glad to hear it worked for you
Thanks, shadow. You deserve an award, as my toon likes to say. Doing both the things you suggested has improved it a great deal.
Woot, also glad to hear it worked for you. And you are welcome.
Pro debugging tips shadow, couldn’t have said it better myself!
None of this sounds like TP-specific issues and seems more indicative of general computer slowness/difficulty running GW2. Due to how the BLTC dialog works it’s more susceptible to computer resource starvation than other game UI, so it’ll often be the first place you notice slowdown.
Hehe, thank you. I’m a programmer myself, I’m used to debugging and stuff :P
Thank you so much, Shadow. Truly above and beyond the call of duty.
You are welcome. Let us know if you got your issue solved or at least lessen.
Hmm, that sounds like something more than TP. Hero panel shouldn’t take more than a 5 to 10 secs to open.
Actually, all files needed by the game lies in a single file: GW2.dat. Possibly that file is very fragmented and it could cause slowdowns when loading the UI, I have seen it heppening before. I haven’t had issues with it then I don’t think it’s an issue with the game. And yes, the UI graphics are loaded after you use one of them for the first time.
Maybe try to repair your game files as well defragment that file, it could help. In case you don’t know how to repair, see the instructions here: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/28148006-Repairing-the-Game-Client.
In case of TP, maybe clearing its cache could help. TP cache lies in your Temp folder (if in Windows type %temp% in the Windows search box) in a folder called like "gw2cache-{bunch-of-numbers-here}". Just delete that folder while not in game and restart the game. I hope it helps.
The TP UI can get worse or better than the whole game UI because it uses a different technology. The TP is a webpage shown through a built-in web-browser, then why it can load differently than the other parts of the game UI.
Almost a year ago the NPE has been implemented - and I still don’t get, how it is supposed to be useful for new players.
To be more precise: If I would be a new potential player who just got informed about the f2p-model and decided to give it a try - I would delete it after the first few levels. It feels extremely generic and disposable. As soon as I start a new game, I want to be involved in a journey. In something remarkable. Instead you will be confronted with level grind until the story starts. A friend of mine has been repeled by this recently.
That was just my point in the post before yours. I wonder how many F2P players will stick if they feel frustrated by this. Btw, in 16 days this (*coughs* dumb *coughs*) system completes 1 year. Congratz! (nop)
shadow — You are right, there haven’t been a lot of updates on this topic since the OP. I just wasn’t sure if you’d see the “We’re aware of these things” part. If so, my apologies. And yes, for the most part, changes to NPE are still on the “to do” list. But there’s no lack of understanding by the devs. For instance, our narrative director, Leah, posted about changes that need to be made in relation to the Personal Story.
Farm Flats and Havoc — Have you posted in the Traits thread? You’re welcome to add your thoughts there, as well, if you care to do so.
Zera — thank you and understood. The mods merged your post into the main thread to keep things tidy, concise, and easily reviewed. Thanks for sharing.
naisonod — If you did that on a phone, I’m impressed! And to your point, I can promise you that we do play our own game, so changes made are made with game experience, not on a whim or without a full view. I take on board you don’t care for the changes, but I did want to clarify that things aren’t switched by people who live in a vacuum.
And this was the last red post in this thread… 8 months ago! Gaile, talk to us pweeese? :P
I’m also curious if any of this mountain of concerns is going to be addressed when HoT launches, or are they going to continue pretending that the NPE is universally adored amongst the playerbase like they’ve been doing for the past year.
Yeah, I’m wondering that too. In fact, I believe that with core game going F2P the NPE system is going to have a real evaluation now. If a paid account player would feel frustrated by this they hardly would give up, they must try to make their money worth. But free account players has zero to none reasons to stick with it if their are frustrated by their first experience.
Based on https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/95982157-Account-types-Free-Core-HoT I don’t think F2P accounts are denied to get Laurels, they just won’t get Login Rewards and this isn’t the only source of Laurels in the game, if I’m not mistaken.
Working on this, sorry for the delay.
Yay, thanks for taking time to reply indeed, it’s appreciated. And sorry if I was too tough in my previous posts here :P Again, I would appreciate if we could get rid of that auto-focus feature and if that minimum value thing could be brought back (that when it wouldn’t allow you to set less than the allowed value).
Yeah, sorry to tell but it’s working as intended. Old story…
it’s merely a HTML page with some Javascript, how hard is to fix it?
That is a good question …
Yeah, in fact some Javascript could be hard to fix but comparing with the whole work related to programming a MMO a HTML page with Javascript wouldn’t be that challenging.
Love how mods merge threads not so related between them >.<
The thingh is that we didn’t buy only the game but also we contract a service (every mmo is a service) and here is the problem in the moment we bought the game the say to us that the game was b2p but now is a f2p.
I’m not agaist new players but I’m agaist what Anet is doing the things
And your service is still valid, you bought the service to play the game forever without paying again and that’s what you got, that never changed.
But the value of the offer has changed drastically. You pay 60 dollars to go to a show, and as you get there and get seated they announce that because 50% of the seats are empty they are letting everyone else in for free. Outrage will insue for anyone that values money and carefully chooses the things they enjoy enough to invest in. As somone who is physically disabled and has to manage my money carefully I made a very active decision to save the money to pre-purchase gw2 because I love the title and the company despite many of my posts on this forum.
And contrary to popular belief I am in no way shape or form unhappy with that investment, even knowing this would happen (I would be less happy about it) but I would do it again, and pay the 80 bucks up front. Now that being said this does not discount or change the feelings of animosity or distrust built by both the secrecy of this deal, because you know they knew this was going to happen and could have told the community earlier than yknow… the day they did it… nor does it change that I am upset that our consolation prize yielded to me no real value of any sort.
They did provide us with some garbage royal guard skin that looks like something that got downvoted too many times so they couldn’t greenlight the release on the trading post… however to many of us, especially most of us that will never ever use such a horrendously disfigured skin, this feels like a cop out, or at the very least gives veteran players (and this has happened many times before) the idea that we are worth next to nothing. That our continued support and promotion of their game is to them, worth whatever they found in the bottom of the barrell… They couldn’t dare to part with 15% off the expansion? Or even to generate a few in game gems to let us purchase something of actual use? Gems are an unlimited currency, they could have provided consolation compensation and chose not to. This is why most of us hardcore veteran players with 1101 days played are a little bit sour over this whole deal.
Also to many of the people on this forum this anger and unrest is being redirected at the new guys coming into the game because they are easily accessable and it will only cause problems in the future, fracturing those who play for free and those who don’t. You will see free to players getting kicked from parties, us vs them mentality. All because Anet couldn’t part with something other than a skin that looks like a beatleborgs halloween costume to placate a disenfranchised mass of veteran players who have been at the lesser valued end of pretty much every deal since the initial purchase. Veterans are not respected. Anet is a company that as a company is much like a shark, they know about time investment, and they know that as a company they don’t have any need to placate players that already exist because we stand to lose more than they do if we stop. They already have our money. This is the overall idea behind this whole fiasco.
A post or two from the red names and perhaps something of actual value would settle down the veteran players and really help to smooth the transition of these new guys into the game. Personally I am happy to see new players, I am unhappy that I was not given consideration in the method that they chose to aquire them.
Wow, I can’t agree more…
Totally ready for the noobs
Great initiative but if you are up to help new players it would be a good thing to not call them “noob” :P Some people doesn’t being called like that.
Btw, great initiative with this thread and it’s appreciated all effort to make new players feel welcome.
But too bad F2P players won’t be able to answer here :P
The word noob has two meanings. To some, it is just short for newbie, ie, a new person/new player. Others use it as an insult.
I have even been called a noob at an event I have done countless times, usually running the show lately. Yes, I found that being hurled my way hilarious after coordinating things that day (and stressing which things were more important than others based on past experience) without being told the battle plan by other commanders.
To echo another thread we REALLY need a place where new players can post.
Yup I know that and that was what I meant, we never know if one would take it as insult or not then best thing if wanting to be friendly at welcoming is avoiding use it at first.
I’m even shooting cake at them and nothing. Put out a bobblehead lab and nothing.
Just a remind that based on (cough dumb cough) NPE mindset, new players aren’t suppose to deal with bundles or interact with stuff on ground :P
Totally ready for the noobs

Shouldn’t we be speaking Brazilian if we’re welcoming the new F2P players?
Firstly, it’s Brazilian Portuguese ;P And secondly, yeah I know the bad name that certain groups has got but it doesn’t mean that all brazilians neither all F2P players are that bad. Btw, I have been playing GW2 for more than 2 years and brazilian here :P
-Authentication before mail even after fully purchasing the game, this would annoy me to have to authenticate every single time I sent a mail.
No, If I got it right you just need authentication once to get that feature unlocked. You won’t need authentication every time you send a mail. Same for being able to use some TP features.
- This is part of the NPE but it bugged me: You can’t do hero challenges until you get to level 11 but as you’re mapping on a fresh character you find them out in the map in lower than lvl 11 areas. The dialogue box you get when you interact doesn’t tell you hey come back at lvl 11. If you want to fully complete the zone you then have to backtrack after you get to a high enough level.
Yay! Dumb NPE strikes again! :P Actually, I wonder how NPE would be evaluated by these new players. There is already a long thread of complaints about it but they don’t seem to listen. I believe F2P players would be a real evaluation of that system. If a paid account player would get frustrated by that crap they hardly would give up, their money must worth. But for free account players, what would they lose if they give up because their first experience is bad?
- Dailies: To get daily completionist you need to do 3 daily options. You only get 3 options until (I don’t know what level) sometime later. PvE daily…easy. PvP daily…easy. WvW daily?….not possible until level 60 on a F2P account. So until you get more than 3 options you can’t complete the daily completionist.
O.o Good point.
/wiki command should be demonstrated to new FTP accounts in game during tutorial time.
Tutorial? What tutorial? Initial instance and starter zones are very far from being a decent tutorial. Tutorials are meant to teach you stuff, not tossing you into an area and leaving you to find stuff on your own. But good point, /wiki should be told to new players somehow indeed.
Yeah, already known issue. And to take advantage of the opportunity… GET RID of the crap auto-focus, let us CLICK the kitten box! Lol, I’m not used to yell on forums but boy.. that thing is annoying as hell. Yeah I agree with StinVec, it’s merely a HTML page with some Javascript, how hard is to fix it?
