Yeah, I experienced it last night. Someone tried to join my party where was I and a friend but clicking accept didn’t work. Then I disbanded my party and reinvited ppl but my friend that was already in the party before couldn’t join it.

Today I got a weird issue. I have been experiencing black screens dc for months now but that’s not the thing. But after a black screen dc when I tried to log in back I got a message like “Transaction in progress. Try again in a few minutes.” (or something like) just so soon I entered a char. O.o I have never seen such message before.

Gw2 was about freedom to “play your way”. It needs to get back to what made it successful before it’s too late.

I couldn’t agree more… on past months (maybe more than a year) the most of the changes seems to be against that. I believe since that September Feature Pack (yeah I look mainly at you NPE…) things began to slowly go to the opposite direction.

The problem in games, ATM, is this trend to arbitrarily remove stuff, that people have got used to having and go back to a more primitive, punitive system.

It’s just, basic, human psychology that we expect things to be added to and for things to be made better, over time.

Not for things to be removed and made worse, again.

Even if we were satisfied with the older thing(s), at the time, as we had never experienced the improvements.

That’s not to say that you can’t, say, carefully streamline things, that were clumsily designed in the first place and/or have become overbloated over time.

Like, for example, 10 years worth of added (and never pruned) abilities, or only-one-right-answer, red herring-filled, talent trees.

But, to just remove things at random, especially good things and drive people back into the dark ages of a game (or of gaming, in general) is never going to be popular with the average person.

As human nature is to gradually evolve, not to devolve.

NPE? :P I also can’t agree more with the above. And you know what? It’s a trend not around games only, I have seen several software companies out there doing the same by locking out features previously available saying it was for “streamline’s sake”.

Make it three. DX12 is restricted to Win 10 as far as I know (sorry if this is wrong, it was the last I heard about it) and no, thanks, I don’t want Win 10 for now.

Also, yeah having the most up-to-date and shinny stuff always seems to be great, but have any of you defending GW2 upgraded to DX12 considered everything involved? Are any of you a programmer or game developer? As others stated here such “upgrade” would require a lot of effort and rewriting the game engine from ground up, in this case it would be a lot easier to come with a GW3 then rewriting a whole 3 year worth of content game. Have you even pondered how much work is it?

Just a thing: the newest isn’t always the best.

How would it solve the 32bits limitation issue? What about those with still 2 cores processor (yes they still exist)? Would it make any difference for them?

It’s easy to demand stuff without thinking on the whole stuff involved and what or who is affected. Like “I want it, if others will have trouble it’s their business, I don’t care”. I want chocolate too, I don’t care about DX12 :P

There is extra information I wouldn’t mind seeing on my screen, such as world boss timers – with it being completely optional, of course. Because it needs to be pointed out to anet that features should be optional and not globally enforced).

When I read that I couldn’t avoid but put it on the light of the “new concept” that started with that shinny NPE: “You cannot dismiss them or choose other type of info because we think that these are what you are needed and have to see.” :P

I’ve been gone for a good 6 months at least.

Ah yeah, no "much" has changed. Game went F2P and HoT got launched. With the last though several stuff changed and some HoT features has been creating discussions and complaints over the place, as Palador mentioned (costs for Guild Halls, supposing "grind" for Masteries and other stuff, bugs with the new content, specializations etc...) Generally speaking, it’s not much different from 6 months ago though.

Sanctum Sprint Lightening Pull

I’m putting y’all on notice. I cannot possibly be the only one that knows this, but you can finish this [kittenkittenkittenkitteningkitten] race without resorting to Lightning Pull in any place where it will throw you over into the abyss.

However, I don’t really have an ability to make a vid, which this will probably require. Not to mention as soon as I type it, the methods will probably get ‘fixed’ ;( fixed, so that the race becomes impossible again.

So to whomever out there also knows how, you have a day to preempt me. I’m sure one of you has a video ready for youtubing.

I have found a few “shortcuts” there that doesn’t require Lightning Pull and they are even legal, but they aren’t always available (one of them is only opened for a certain time, after then your only way is through a path with LP). Not sure if the method you say uses glitches or “out-of-way” paths but I believe there are other ways indeed. However, there is no fun using workarounds or going out of way to bypass a broken mechanic

That’s curious indeed, I haven’t seen gold sellers in the game for a long time now. Maybe it’s just one or two making their appearance atm, just report and block them, Anet will deal with them soon.

Sanctum Sprint Lightening Pull

Yeah this is still broken. Recently I tried to play Sanctum Sprint and was doing fine for the most of it, even being 1st for a good amount, that’s a thing I hardly get… but then I face the Lightning Tether for the first time and guess what? I couldn’t pass the kitten thing as it kept tossing me out of the cliff -_- So after countless tries I simply sat there and waited the timer ran out as I was unable to finish the race…

And you know what… after exploring Verdant Brink I have been wondering… look those Bouncing Mushrooms, don’t they act almost like Lightning Pull? And those Mushrooms works properly as far as I know… so why doesn’t have that kitten Lightning Pull been fixed yet? The behavior is very similar, why can’t Lightning Pull be fixed? Ah, priorities… who even plays Sanctum Sprint nowadays huh >.> Mordrem attack is a lot more important than a simply activity huh, huh /sarcasm

If it is part of the daily I will just run around at the start until the timer is over.

That just what I did after what I said above happened lol. I simply slept at the start for a whole round :P

Hmm. Apparently my post was merged here even though it was a completely different issue… I am missing my world completion Gifts of Exploration, not any mastery points. I guess they saw me mention “mastery point” and didn’t actually read my post.

lol, not the first time I see it happening. Any case, not sure if a merge can be undone but anyhow you may try to report your own post giving as reason that it was merged incorrectly. It will flag it for mods to take a look at it.

That’s curious… this event has been bugging for months (or years) now and it finally got fixed O.o Wonder why the fix came only now… :P

Yup, possibly you installed something that came shipped with malware. Never, I said, NEVER, go clicking “Next” on installers without reading stuff. As stated above it could be some malware that hijacked browsers and GW2 uses a build-in browser for Gem Store. Possibly it had nothing to do with GW2 itself, it was interested in your browsers.

To correct a thing here. The path showed in the second pic refers to a path in Anet servers or some internal path built-in the game, not your local machine (although it looks like a local path), I have seen that path before when Gem Store was having hiccups. Obviously something went wrong then the game/server couldn’t find the proper page.

Ok guys here is a thing. Firstly, it seems the game has a feature where it shrinks the inventory panel if it trespass certain boundaries (actually, getting close to screen edges or overlapping parts of the fixed UI), I could confirm it trough testing. A dev could confirm it if I’m wrong please.

Based on that, I made a few tests and reported it in the thread I mentioned above and I noticed the issue also can depend “where” the window is when closed.

So here is a thing that could help to track it: could any of you reporting it also mention where the window was when closed? Was it overlapping the “permanent” UI (chat panel, skill bar, mini map, achievement tracker, etc) somehow? Were it too close to screen edges? Also note that Inventory window boundaries can be wider than what it’s clearly visible. The screenshoots I did for my tests there shows that.

No problem. Surely I try to do some tests when I have a change too, although I haven’t been afflicted by this issue so much as I was at the time of that thread.

This is a bug that keeps popping up even though we keep fixing it. I’m trying to reproduce it with the small inventory and I’m not succeeding, is there anything else you can tell me? Are you changing zones a lot, are you selling thing from there, salvaging frequently? Any info you can give me will help me track this down (again).

Not sure if it still applies (since wallet was revamped something may have changed) but in the thread I posted above I described a few tests I did to try reproducing the issue, maybe it can give you some clue (I believe it’s around page 4 on that thread).

And yes, even in that own thread (or somewhere else) a dev said that they had been trying to fix it but it was hard to track the cause. Thanks for the efforts anyhow.

I just completed Straits of Devastation but then I moved to Divinity’s Reach before opening the reward chest and bam, it was gone. Then I completed Divinity’s Reach to see if it happens again. Chest appeared above my mini-map but I transitioned to another zone before opening it and again, the reward chest was gone. Please provide me with the reward chests and fix this issue for good!

Huh no sure if it was a merge or you posted it directly here but… how does your issue have to do with the one discussed here? If it was the result of a merge then ignore this post. If not then maybe it would be better to make a new thread for that issue.

I believe there are also hubs in the WvW areas that you can access from anywhere just by toggling the WvW window, then return to exactly where you were in PvE by relogging to character screen.

I didn’t read this whole thread yet so I can’t say much about the topic yet, but I wanted to point out something about the quoted sentence. Actually, you don’t need to relog to character screen in order to return to PvE. In the WvW panel there is a button like “Leave WvW” (or something) at the bottom-right corner in the first tab. For any who missed that button, no worry, it wasn’t there since launch, it was added around one of those Feature Packs if I’m not mistaken.

About #1, well sadly it’s intended. It was (*cough* dumbed down *cough*) changed because of the (*cough* dumb) NPE. For some reason they thought that fighting in a pit was "too overwhelming" for new players or then they aren’t supposed to do it because the game "thinks" they aren’t able to do it.

About #2, I can’t say much, it has been a while I got that POI and I had no issues getting it, except that the event took a bit long to spawn.

Ok maybe there is some terminology issue here… what do you mean with “texture”? From what I know, changing textures shouldn’t block any other objects. Textures are like merely a “skin” of the objects, unless you mean that the pumpkin decorations became invisible. Also, it’s not possible to have objects “inside textures”, like I said textures are like a “skin”. However, I believe you are talking about the “geometry”, that’s basically the objects used to form the landscape, like rocks, buildings, floor, etc… the objects themselves. If so, then I can imagine how your decorations got stuck and that’s annoying indeed.

Yes. You can. Walk in to the guild initiative. Talk to the NPC. You now have a banner for favor.

Which NPC would that be? The Guild Requisitioner? He gives a message “This content has been temporarily disabled. Try again later.”

Then try again later?

Last two times I spoke with him he worked fine.

Complaining that the NPC is down for an adjustment is not the same as claiming “all my ability to use my old unlocks is gone forever”

And, honestly, every single post that parrots the same false assertion, that people can’t use their upgrades, has the same problem.

Sure, be upset that your access is temporarily suspended That’s a legitimate complaint and I agree with you. I’d like to know why he got temporarily disabled as I’ve used him as a source for banners while that horribly untested scribe is missing key components to actually produce banners. (Which, incidentally, is a far larger issue that actually blocks a production method for several things including tactics and decorations in addition to banners.)

However, this is just like when they temp disabled karma vendors or various other things. It’s as likely he’s being rewords to be even cheaper as it is he’s headed for the scrap heap. They didn’t go to the trouble of adding the NPC just to delete him a week later.

Using a temporary outage as a justification to rage against the entire system is just plain short sighted and silly.

What makes you think that I haven’t tried multiple times over different days? I have yet to see him working. There is a Reddit thread from 11 days ago asking why he’s disabled. The wiki previously listed the options he gives as having the disabled message. Now, the wiki simply lists nothing and he is still disabled.

I have yet to see proof that banners and other previously attainable consumables are still available to a guild without needing HoT for the guildmaster. If there are non-HoT guildleaders without guild halls who have been able to access the requisitioner, I hope they post so I can figure out why I can not.

You are correct that the vendor is currently down.

However I personally used him the first two mission cycles after launch for banners. 10% XP/karma banners specifically. No, I did not personally attempt to buy one of every unlock as at that point I didn’t have the favor to burn and simply assumed it all worked just as well as the thing I did buy.

Until a red name posts that he is headed for the scrap yard, there’s no reason to assume that its anything more than a temporary outage born of some exploit. There are quite a few other things they disabled temporarily due to discovered exploits.

If your argument is, literally that this functionality doesn’t exist and never existed, I’ll say again that’s a very different thing than being upset it has been offline for an unreasonably long time.

For the record I agree with you. It has been offline for an unreasonably long time. I have excess favor piling up, I’d also like to use it like I had been previously, and I’ll be just as upset as you are if the vendor in question is in fact permanently removed.

Right, but my understanding is you own HoT, since you mentioned something about your guild hall. I said for non-HoT users. I thought my statement was pretty clear about that. I wasn’t making “an argument.” I’m asking if anyone who does not own HoT has been able to access the requisitioner to get banners. If you do not own HoT, sorry for that assumption and could you confirm whether you are HoT or non-HoT?

I’m just trying to find out if this functionality ever did work for those guildleaders who have not purchased HoT.

Ah, that’s something I couldn’t verify for you as I had preordered HoT, and thus never walked in to the building before HoT release.

I do know he’s present in the guild initiative, and everything in there with the notable exception of the expedition npcs (for obvious reasons) works without HoT though. I’d be interested (and kinda kittened) if the NPC they built specifically so that guilds had access to their old upgrades before getting a guild hall didn’t work for people who couldn’t actually claim one.

Be a pretty dumb NPC in that case for sure.

Yeah. Just hoping someone would know. I mean, when he comes back up, I can work around it by passing leadership or getting the right permissions to one of my family members (3/5 of our accounts are HoT), but still annoying and I get kitteny on principle about functionality taken away and tied to an xpac.

Maybe this would help to clarify this…

Guild Halls

  • The Guild Initiative Headquarters in Lion’s Arch is now open to guilds.
    • Have a ranking member of your guild with the Purchase Upgrades permission speak to the guild registrar to unlock your grandfathered upgrades in the new progression. You’ll also be rewarded with one or more guild hall decorations to commemorate your mastery of the old guild system.
  • Guild upgrades* *are now purchased from proprietors—special NPCs in the Guild Initiative Headquarters and in guild halls. Speak with the notary at the Guild Initiative Headquarters to start purchasing new upgrades.
    • Influence has been retired but can still be spent at certain vendors in the Guild Initiative Headquarters and in the guild hall to give a small boost to progress through the new guild system.

Although it’s mentioned under Guild Halls section it says the NPCs will be available at Lion’s Arch too. It doesn’t explain why the NPC is currently disabled but it shows that theose NPCs were supposed to be used for purchasing upgrades.

About it being available to those with HoT or not… well, I don’t see a reason for having them also at Lion’s Arch other than making it accessible for those with no Guild Halls, either due not claiming one or not being able to claim one (not owning HoT). I think it makes clear that those NPCs was supposed to be used for those not owning HoT too.

However, that patch notes aren’t clear about what requires HoT and what doesn’t. I can’t state for sure if the first time I interacted with those NPC was before I got HoT, but I can state that I could use them normally the first time I interacted with them, that was a few days after HoT came out and I didn’t pre-purchase HoT.

Yup, it seems like there is a pattern here. Once again after a black screen the last items in the log shows “Auth server returned response 14”, differently from the whole log that now and then shows “Auth server returned response 0”.

Yay, here we go again with this dumb “feature”…. Seriously, I still don’t get why they thought that messing up with one’s storyline for co-op’s sake was a good idea… -_- look how many threads about people puzzled by the “sudden” change in their Order (even if temporary). >.> That’s really stupid. If one would like to continue playing together they could simply join others in their next instance, period. No reason to mess with their storyline… What if one don’t want to do the next step from someone else? They have no choice and are doomed to follow someone’s else story for a few more steps.

Oh one can say “but they can choose if accepting the progress or not”. But well, the prompt asking that doesn’t warn about what’s going to happen and if one chooses to not accept they will need to do that step again, then why to bother playing together? Confuse huh?

Yup it seems to be a known bug. I remember I read somewhere a dev saying that that recipe was “removed” as the item it produces wasn’t supposed to be craftable anymore. It seems some leftover was left behind…

Was HoT launch also supposed to give us chests for Southsun, Dry Top, and SW 100% map completions as well now?

I don’t even have those rewarded to me retroactively either. And I have some of those maps 100% on 2 characters. Just before typing this out, I just finished VB on Yumiko Emi Ishida, so I got no chest or anything on VB at all either.

Yes, those maps were suppose to give you rewards too after HoT launch, but it seems they are also affected by the bug.

Ok after all this time I can have some clue about why this black screen and sudden disconnect has been happening…

I have finally tried the command switch -log just for curiosity’s sake to see what had been going on and here it seems what’s wrong:

During all the gameplay the log registered things like..

I mapped Verdant Brink to 100% completion on one of my toons a few days after launch and reported it in game since I didn’t receive the completion reward for it. However, I never received an email, as some players have, regarding this issue. Since then, I have gone out of my way to not complete any of the new zones out of fear of not receiving the rewards. My wife, SunyaGoda.8625, has had this issue with two of her toons after completing Tangled Depths and Verdant Brink.

Just wanted to add how much I LOVE HoT. Thank you for such an awesome expansion!

I believe that you can be mistaken, the issue where some players received an mail and they had been fixing this week was a different one (that was about maps reseting and getting undiscovered). Map completion rewards issue still hasn’t been addressed although they are working on a fix.

The material wall is extremely high.

That seems to be the major complaint actually, and I tend to agree.

The game has moved on, you can complain all you want and demand for things but deep down inside, you know that it is not gonna happen.

People have been complaining and demanding like an expansion, as well Guild Halls for years, don’t they?

I’m just sick of this kitten in games, lately.

I’m sick of being expected to beg for things we had previously and that were removed for no good reason and to the detriment of the game, as a whole.

It’s NOT OK and it is also not the job of people like me to have to try to make developers see sense, when they appear to have lost the plot entirely.

This is not why we play games.

I feel your pain and I totally agree… devs everywhere from every game or software, not this game only, seems to be messing up stuff and making things non-sense and complicated instead “progressing” or “evolving” and calling “dumb features” as “modern way”. It’s a trend nowadays unfortunately… (no offense directed to anyone btw)

Hey Gaile or any other dev, please could any of you post a reply in https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/bugs/Got-100-map-completion-on-VB-no-reward/? Some people seems to not know to check Dev Tracker or don’t want/wish to scroll back to check quotes and keep complaining that no response to that issue was given, also it’s weird the response was given in several other threads but not in the one actually discussing it.

Sorry if it has been asked here already, too lazy to scroll back this thread :P sweet irony lol

There is no option to turn those info on or off as far as I can tell, and there have never been any. I have experienced it during Shadow of Behemoth event a few days ago, I believe it could be a bug yes. It seems to be merely a graphic bug though, the event could be completed and credit was given as due.

I am literally disgusted by the fact that 19 days and 600 posts later Anet has still failed to even comment on this issue in their OWN FORUMS.

Once again… they DID, but not in this particular thread though. Check Dev tracker and early posts in this thread and you will find quotes and posts from them about it.

Map completion still not fixed.

The map completion issue they have just been fixing is about maps being reseted, like getting undiscovered again. The map completion rewards issue is a different issue and no fix has came for it yet, as you can see in the thread posted by smithkt.8062.

Yay, du…. NPE strikes again!

Yeah, since around 1 year ago with the NPE thing the story arcs are now unlocked at each 10 levels, you won’t see the next step until are the “appropriated” level. You can play the next step only when the game “thinks” you are ready for it. >.>
