Possibly your ISP may be throttling your connection that can cause issues with online games. ISPs are used to do so then what I could advice is checking if they are doing such thing.

Played this when it was the daily this past week. My methods for avoiding Lighting Pull still work.

When it is the daily I simply start a race, dance a little bit in place and get my daily.
Or I fall in the water and get my daily. Or do nothing and get my daily.

Lol, once I entered a race when it was about to end, then I got in practice mode. But then I got frustrated by not passing through a Lightning Tether that I stayed sitting near it and the race restarted due time over. When it started again I stayed dancing at the Start line for almost the whole next race :P

I’ve not had any trouble finishing this. It’s definitely wonky — Tizlak follows you around, but you have to head to the right spot, which is marked with a harder-to-read-green circle than usual.

What is even interesting… HoT has some mechanics (Bouncing Mushrooms and some other I can’t recall) very similar to Lightning Pull and they work properly there. Why can’t the same mechanics be applied to Lightning Pull? It has completely spoiled Sanctum Sprint for me and I was used to enjoy it

Yup, the page looks broken for me too. Browser console reports an error in a file:

Technical limitations? In this case then the item should never have been implemented at all until a better solution is found. If it was merely a fixable bug then makes sense having it available, but if it has “technical limitations” is should never go live. Theoretically it can even sound like cheap excuse saying it won’t be fixed because of that.

Simply solution for now: remove the item and refund anyone who has it. It’s simply a dumb move having a broken item available as it would simply generate more and more complaints. It would save support and devs’ time (and ears :P) by simply not having such broken item until those “technical limitations” are overcome.

It simple.

If you want your char visible, you start viewing vista unzoomed.
If you want your char invisible, you start viewing vista zoomed into first person.

Thanks but that doesn’t answer my question :P I asked why the model is kept hidden in the vista cinematic if you trigger it while in first person view.

“First person” isn’t really an actually first person view. There’s no first person models.

It’s more like “inside-head camera”. Since your head would be in the way, while in ‘first person’ your model is no longer rendered in your client.

So when you use a vista, as your model isn’t being rendered on your side, and since the client won’t get you out of first person before playing the cinematic, your character won’t appear during the cinematic.

If you ever see your character in a cinematic while in first person it’ll be because the cinematic takes you out of first person, or because the cinematic hides the character and uses a ‘double’ of your character instead.

Now that answers my question and it’s what I thought, thanks. However I was just wondering why it wasn’t made then the model is rendered during the cinematic. I know that while you are in first person your model isn’t rendered, as you said, but I just thought it could be rendered “temporarily” during the cinematic, unless there are other technical reasons and that’s what I was wondering. Possibly it would consume unneeded resources to render it temporarily or have a “double” as you said, I dunno.

The best you could do in these cases is reporting it via in-game tool. It will provide devs with exact info about what instance has the stuck event. Usually stuck events fix themselves after a server/instance restart. However, in case an event gets frequently stuck for days then it’s better reporting it here yes.

So far (at least that worked for me) the only way to finish that instance is choosing the other path. Be ready for a tough fight if you are alone though.

Last weekend, I was part of a group that killed the Champion Avatar of Balthazar HP in Auric Basin and, shortly after grabbing the HP, I get the message “Due to inactivity, you are no longer participating in the event”. Well, he is dead and I got the event participation/completion reward; how can I “participate” when there is no event?

Lol yeah, it has happened to me a lot. I just finish doing an event, get credit and stuff and seconds later.. “you are no longer participating in the event”. Well,, yes because it is “over” :P

Hey, so quick update. My web browser was having troubles loading web pages today, so I called the ISP and they had me flush the winsock cache or something. I went into the CMD prompt in Admin mode and put in the command “netsh winsock reset”. After that, my web browsing went smoothly and I haven’t had any issues on GW2. Have you tried that?

Hmm, that’s new to me then no, I haven’t tried it. However, as I have mentioned in that thread I have done a complete reinstall of OS recently and I had been having these issues even before that, then not sure. But I’ll give it a try and see how things turn out. Thanks.

Sometimes people just need to calm down… servers occasionally need some maintenance huh. They have been working on that and it will be back any time soon. Be patient.

Did you have 303 gems before that happened, or you noticed that amount after it happened? No idea what it could be as I have never seen gems being rewarded that way. The only time I have seen the game rewarding gems was through that AP chests but that’s after opening them, not when acquiring them. Really odd. Any screenshoot?

There is not much you could do as it seem to be connection related. Reinstalling won’t help as I have just reinstalled my whole system and the issue persists.

Are you sure the items shuffled and not the inventory window resized? There is a known bug where the window resizes itself out of nowhere and it causes it to look as items have got misplaced.

Well, to help pinpoint what could be the issue… what’s your level? Below 80? Is it in PvE or WvW? Do you mean it only happens when you get that glittering effect from the notifications at right to the XP bar?

Yes, lack of response not always means they don’t care. It took them months to reply to several issues and stuff but at some point they fixed. People just need to be some more comprehensive at times :S

I’d guess it’s because ‘backpacks’ like Spinalguard and Wings, and such, or weapons would end up halfway through the ground when sitting. Or should you ‘salute’ when holding an axe or mace, sword, whatever, you would stab yourself.

Then, there would be just as many, if not many more, lamentations about clipping/odd animations when using emotes, likely.

That could be the reasons yes. Better having it vanishing temporarily than having complaints about clipping issues and stuff.

That has been this way since release I believe. Anything that’s not part of your armor set (those 6 pieces like headgear, gloves, etc) are hidden during emotes. As said, weapons and backpieces are hidden. No idea what’s the reason for that but it has been this way for a long time and although it looks weird I believe that’s intended.

(However, once I did a tricky that caused my backpiece being visible while sitting, then no idea about the technical stuff regarding this).

Yes, it’s a bug. Old one btw and not restricted to those maps. It can happen anywhere. I have experienced it a few times but I can’t tell what exactly triggers it (if any).

@Kampilan: That could be some connection issue at your end then or some latency. For me when black screen happens there are no signals of connections issues, like lag or unresponsive stuff, it simply drops the connection and screen goes black out of nowhere, not even a simple error message. In the thread I linked I put some details from log showing what game does when it happens.

Certain firefox extensions put increasing load on the program (adblocker+ and noscript among them, depending on settings). I periodically close FF, to reset it.

Oh, that makes sense. I use both extensions here and I also close it occasionally to resets some memory usage.

Well, based on my own experience since I started playing it years ago… Firefox is to blame. Yes, verify if Firefox is having high memory usage or processor time (yes, I have caught it using above 50% CPU time), that could affect GW2’s FPS somehow.

However, since you said that other softwares running wouldn’t cause that then I’m not so sure if your case is like mine. I just know I have avoided running Firefox and GW2 at same time for a while now.

I have heard that Win 10 is kinda stubborn about the default browser, no matter if you set it to some other browser some actions will still bring up Edge. I can’t say for sure as I don’t use Win 10, I have only heard about that. Not sure if they changed that but third party browsers had been mad at that some months ago.

A bit off topic but did you take a pic of your char yourself or was someone else? I ask because as far as I recall you aren’t able to see your own nameplate and in that pic your nameplate is visible. Just curious.

This was an old old bug in WvW that was fixed, but it appears to affect the Guild Hall Arena now.

I think that what Illconceived meant was if you see that happening on someone else’s clones or on your own clones. However, given the fact that we can’t see our own nameplate (then being able to compare clones with player) I would guess that you mean on someone else then.

Actually, I had never used such accessory but I also figured the effect because I have seen people all yellowish, purplish and such running around and I was like “huh?” until I would select them and see that buff in their nameplate, similar to the one you had in the screenshoot.

I feel your pain and here is a fun (maybe not so fun) fact that even happened to me: long time ago, when I had been playing the game for almost 1 year I got a precursor, yes a pre, that dropped from a lvl 20ish drake at Caledon Forest and it was my 3rd or 4th exotic that I got dropped in the game. My Magic Find at that time was around 60%. A friend of mine that had been playing since launch (for 1.5 years when that happened) “never” got any precursors. At that time to I would regularly get a rare here and there.

Nowadays, my friend still have got no precursors, my MF is at 170% and I hardly get a single rare from drops. Exotics? I can’t recall getting any on past year.

So yeah, that’s luck and honestly MF seems to make it even worse. As I’m used to joke… “Magic Find is a lie” :P

Well, actually support can’t do much regarding bugs other than guide you to how workaround it or inform you if they acknowledged it or what not, they aren’t the ones who fix stuff. Support is meant to help you with using the game/system and a with few known issues.

The best way for reporting bugs is through the in-game report, as the Support itself tells as showed early in this thread. Through that tool the game sends the most details possible about an issue that helps them to investigate what’s going on. However, as said before you won’t get a response for bugs sent there.

Other way to report is through forums like this thread, where you can even know if it’s a known bug, widespread one or even an isolated case. However, it can take a while until it gets an official reply or it can even get none, but it doesn’t always mean that they aren’t aware about an issue.

Also, looking at your first screenshoot from Character Selection your char doesn’t look “pure white” for me. I see it with a light shade of green, what color did you pick up for its skin? Also yes, as pointed out above you are under an effect that changes the color of your char (see the purple square with a sun icon above your skill bar).

No problem and yeah I know the feeling. But well, better one being caught than none.

So, how do I go about and report these people? Via bug form there is no option to report hackers and I don’t see anything else in the UI that allows me to do this?

Did you try right-clicking their name from friend list? I can’t state for sure but maybe there won’t be a report option for people on your friend list (it wouldn’t make much sense huh). In this case, you can do as I just posted above: add them to your block list instead. There I’m sure there will be a report option.

Edit: Ah, if you mean the options in the Report tool, you won’t find options like “Hacking”. The closest you will find is “Booting” or something like. You can pick up the one that’s closest to what you are reporting them for. It will be investigated anyhow.

Yes, name and shame on forums isn’t allowed and discouraged. The proper way to report them would be via in-game report tool. However I know at times it’s hard to do as you have to select the person before reporting, then in these cases I could suggest contacting Support, they could help you with that and point you the proper way to report if they can’t do it.

This area of forums is for reporting bugs and issues and there isn’t any forum area for reporting players. Your best bet would be doing as mentioned above.

A hint I could give in these cases is quickly taking snapshots when you spot them, this way you can capture the character name at least. And then, add that character to your block list and from there you will get options, like reporting, easily. You can remove the person from your block list afterwards (or not, it’s up to you :P)
