If you mean the issue that happened a few days ago, it wasn’t “fixed” actually. What seems to be broken isn’t the NPC itself, but the activity it’s linked to, then when the reset hit the NPC started working again (yes I was near it at reset time and I saw it).

It looks like Crab Toss is to blame. The first issue happened when it was put back in rotation with latest patch and now it seems it was its turn again (http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Activity#Daily_activities).

That’s something that was used to happen at Black Citadel a while back. Depending on the angle your cam is part of the geometry would just disappear. It was fixed months after I noticed it and it seems to be a glitch in the game somehow.

Had finished both PS and LS on the toon in question, was looking for the last poi on a VB map and was going mad trying to locate it by hand ( well…eye). I’ll admit in the cold ( and sober) light of day that I made the initial post in a kitteny moody. Not my finest hour…

It’s ok, that happens. Btw, a hint about finding map completion items: if you hover the icons at the top left all the missing items will be highlighten on the map.

oh and btw, choosing ‘hide events and personal story’ option is for the content guide only, and it very much works. selecting that option causes the content guide to only direct you towards map completion goals. it has nothing to do with the green text at the side or any event text that pops up.

^ This. That option is for Content Guide (see the text in front it), which is that thing that points you toward an objective and as far as I know it’s working correctly. About the Personal Story step (the green text at the top) it cannot be hidden but it goes away once you have finished Personal Story or Living Stories.

Mini pets keep being unticked

Yup, but if I recall right usually culling will hide minis for that reason but not uncheck that box. Currently, the mini won’t come back when switching maps (that should cancel the culling).

I belive it had been like that. If your char is facing like, north, and you cam it toward south, if you simply hit walk key your char will walk forward to where it was facing (north in this case), however I recall the cam reseting and just turning around at times when it happens.

But, if you hit walk key while holding Right button it will walk toward the direction the cam is facing, the cam will stay and your char will turn around.

I remeber accidentally falling off edges because of that as I forgot to hold right button before walking :S

Well, we shouldn’t resort to alternative ways to bypass a broken skill. Also I never said it was “impossible” and I can see how I would have troubles using your method (even Dash is glitchy at times, let alone pressing keys simultaneosly) :S

And I see you gave some alternate paths there and I’m aware about them (usually I use them) but there won’t be always an alternate way on all moments where Lightning Pull is required. In fact, there is a point past the halfway (I can’t recall what checkpoint) that I get stuck as it keeps throwing me off a platform and I haven’t found any alternate way like bridges and stuff around there.

Yeah, that issue has been around for a while now. It has been a long time since I was able to even pass through the second half of that race :/ Once I got so annoyed that I just sat at the edge of a platform waiting for the timer to end :/

And then when the reset hit and daily changed… it started working again as it changed to Sanctum Sprint. I believe it wasn’t the NPC that was broken, but the activity for the day was unavailable.

Oh now I think of.. yeah… at Lion’s Arch it was showing Southsun Survival as activity but according with Wiki it was Wednesday’s activity. Yup, simply the activity was locked (a warning like “This content is unavailable” would have been good and make more sense). :S

Quality of Life
There have been some long-standing quirks in PvP that have been cleaned up in a quality-of-life pass to create a more enjoyable experience:

  • Players are no longer teleported after the spawn doors close when the countdown begins if they are already inside the base. A small effect plays when cooldowns are reset.

the problem (and what OP was reporting) is that there are some areas outside the doors that wont teleport you, and as such during the last 8second countdown before the match starts you can be left outside the gate and run around the map

The “cash banner” seems to be a glitch with the NPC dialog, as others pointed out you can even hear the dialog’s opening and closing sound.

Last night the NPC looked “normal” (icon and stuff), however when interacting with it the dialog would pop up and vanish in half second, what made it impossible to enter the activity.

It’s ok, it was getting deep into forums anyway. And yes, I would be all up for an option too. And as I said there, I agree that the option should be global for consistency’s sake. If it says “All Players” it should be “all”, either you are in squad/party or not. But also having an option to show it in squad while hiding others could be good, as some people use it to see if party/squad members need some help.

I’ve noticed this lately, as well. I thought I must have somehow come in contact with said events, but I always get Gold rewards, and now I’m not so sure.

Mine may be different, though, as I often play as a Ranger. /shrug

If your pet is in “assertive” mode, they will engage foes who try to harm you. This happens nearly every time I traipse just about any foe-dense map (unless I remember to toggle the pet to “clueless”) — and that’s plenty to get silver or often gold credit, depending on the event.

Yup, for several times I have seen pets engaged in combat with foes while its master was somewhere else doing their business.

As I see it, for ages the option wasn’t doing what it was supposed to do but people got used to it as "feature", then when they finally "fixed" it people started complaining. *shrugs*

May sound silly but were you in a party somehow? If I recall right you get credit if party members participate in events. (I had never noticed that but one day I and a friend in party had just done Vinewrath, they went ahead on the champ train and I stayed behind, occasionally I’d see Event completion thing poping up even before I could reach it)

For the OP, possibly you were affected by that bug sometime ago and it got “registered” in your account, even though you finished it. It’s just a guessing but that could be. Also, that NPC is related to Personal Story and has nothing to do with HoT or LS Season 2.

Anyhow, maybe a good thing would be to contact Support, since their “fix” could have gone a bit out of control possibly.

EDIT: since threads got merged this post may not be so relevant anymore and the “OP” I mentioned is somewhere else now.

I have just noticed it early but I was in a simple party, not a squad. I have Show All Player Names checked and I could see their nameplate, but the health bar was hidden until I hovered them. >.<

Bump for this bug report. Though I already filed a bug report yesterday ingame, I hope this thread will get some attention.
No matter if this change fixed an unintentional bug or invented a new one, there needs to be the possibility to permanently have someones partymembers names on screen while having all others not showing up.

And my opinion remains the same. If it doesn’t bother you, good for you, but it does bother others. And as long as there’s no official statement that the former far more convenient behaviour was an unintended bug I expect the newer, totally inconvenient behaviour, being the bug that needs to be fixed.

Yup, I don’t disagree with you, I was just trying to point out a possible explanation of why this has happened. And even though I don’t mind about it I’m also all up for having options and stuff. And as you even said, either it was an unintended “bug” that was seen as “feature” and now “fixed” or not, only an official response could tell, otherwise it’s nothing but guessing.

This could explain why that:

Spectator
Spectator-mode polish improves the viewing experience by removing clutter from the screen and creating consistency across machines:

  • Titles are now hidden while in spectator mode.
  • Guild tags are now hidden while in spectator mode.

  • Player nameplates have an increased size in spectator mode and will truncate when they’re too long.
  • Party names and health bars scale up based on resolution.
  • All player names show through walls in spectator mode.

Hey guys,

Your materials will still be in your Treasury. The treasury only shows items that a guild meets the prerequisites to build. When you regain the level from our bug fix yesterday, the upgrades will be able to be donated to again and any quantities held previously will still be in the Treasury waiting to be used. I apologize for this scare this caused, but rest assured – your donations are still there.

Oh I just wanted to point out that I haven’t said that the “cause” for your crashes and stuff is due your system being 32 bits. I just meant it as a “possible cause”. If you still experience issues I would just advice you to contact Customer Support as they can help you through it.

Also, They didn’t drop support for 32 bits system and they haven’t stated that they won’t support it because the core game runs fine in 32 bits system, it just has issues with HoT maps as they seem to be more demanding than core maps.

Issues like that are hard to troubleshoot and I have been just guessing what’s happening. I understand you may be upset and stuff but maybe you better contact Support and see if they can give any help or official response to it. You most likely to get a quick response through Support ticket than on forums actually.

my UI is showing all the colors of the rainbow, and I can’t even read it.

Usually, colored textures mainly if a blue/green checkboard means missing/corrupted textures or some graphic card failure, but the former is usually the cause. Try to repairing the client and see if you get rid of the wonky UI.

I can’t help but wonder when they put this disclaimer at the bottom? probably right when they released HOT:

Note: Due to potential changes, system requirements may change over time and you may be required to upgrade your current system (or obtain a new system) to continue to play the game.

That disclaimer had been there before, possibly since release. I remember seeing it even before HoT was announced when I tried to bring a friend into the game.

The Germans came to the conclusion that the HOT update was causing a need for more than 3GB of ram or something like that. You can find their posts with google translade just look up “1450 error nv4 mini sys”

Well, I wouldn’t say that Window XP is old and unsupported, despite several companies stopped supporting it, and as far as I can tell GW2 still “works” with Windows XP. However, all my bets would go to the fact about 32 bits. GW2 had been running fine on 32 bits systems for a long time but it seems that HoT maps requires more than 4 GB of RAM to run smoothly and, as you know, 32 bits systems can’t handle more than 3ish GBs.

As you even pointed out, the “cause” lies in HoT maps requiring more memory than 32bits systems can handle, then why they have came out with a 64 bits version recently. This had been an extensive discussion when HoT was launched and it’s still controversial in some aspects though.

A while back (that was months before HoT came out) I had been using a 32 bits system (Window 7 though) and occasionally GW2 would crash “out of nowhere” around 1 hour or so of gameplay. After some testing I noticed that it alone would be using more than 2 GB of RAM, plus then all other stuff in the system were taking around 1 GB what would get my system near the memory limit and GW2 would be the first one to suffer as it couldn’t use more memory. After I switched to a 64 bits system (still Win 7) I haven’t got any of that crashes anymore.

In fact, if you haven’t heard about the 64 bits version before my advice would be that you try it, although you may know that it would require you to reinstall your system from ground up. And if you do so I would also advice you to take the opportunity to upgrade to a most recent version of your OS. My personal choice would be Windows 7 (yup, I hated 8 and 10 :P) but if your machine can handle it you may try even newer versions (however be aware that in Win 10 it may have some issues unique to it).

Based on what I see I would just assume that the items are just hidden, since the Treasury panel only shows items required by the current or next upgrades, then if an upgrade isn’t available yet the slots aren’t shown. Anyway, I would also suggest sending a Support ticket or just wait until the guild reaches that level again (if possible) and see if the slots will be available again.

Either the last hot-fix broke it again or I don’t know, but it’s still broken for me.
Attached 2 pics, the first one showing me in party with my wife in TD (see red squares), but her nameplate doesn’t show up. On the second, I manually hovered my cursor over her avatar and her nameplate shows up.
Before the issue appeared (see starting post), same settings always led to the 2nd pic result, no matter where my cursor was.

Well, as I said in a post early in this thread, what happens in your 1st pic seems to be like it was supposed to be before all, even though that how it wasn’t before. For consistency’s sake unchecking “Show All Players Name” should have hidden it, no matter if in party or not. However, that wasn’t the former behavior and possibly it was a “bug”, but as it had been there for ages people just got used to it as “feature”. Possibly the current stage is how it “should have been” and then it was “fixed”. I’m just guessing here, I don’t know if it was the actual reason though. The previous state with only a health bar might have been a “failed” attempt to “fix” the “bug”.

What do you mean exactly? The option in the setting affects only armor on players’ characters and as far as I know only for WvW. It just tints players’ armor with the respective world’s color. Team colors like Blue and Red in PvP cannot be turned off as far as I know.

TP refreshes after all crafting

Actually, the TP was used to refresh itself every time a change occurs in your inventory, either you got or removed an item as when you simply moved it to another slot. To use your example, refining Mithril Ores to a full stack means that you are putting 250 Mithril Ingots in your inventory, one at once, that would cause the TP to refresh 250 times as well.

The last update to this bug tracker is April 8th. Only 2 fixes in all of April so far.

Is this bug tracker thing dropped already? I keep checking for progress, but don’t see much beyond the initial spurt of activity.

Well, that list is a curated list and kept manually. Then not all issues and changes will be there and not as fast as one could expect. :/

Having this in a static location really does offer the ability for us to have this now. To make it movable and customizable like would have needed to add a few times more devs to the project and a LOT more time to try to make it work and that may have meant that it may not have been deemed worth it to include at all.

I don’t think it’s sneaky at all. Of course they want people to purchase HoT. Name one business that doesn’t try to market their products? It’s the entire point of being in business. A business that doesn’t market doesn’t stay in business for very long.

Btw… all these things just sounds to me more like a sneaky attempt to push people to purchase HoT or spend more time in HoT maps. I won’t go further on this to not derail this thread though.

Players get awesome stuff like a free 80 boost and shared inventory slot, and ANet gets a boost in business. Sounds like a win-win for everybody to me.

Maybe using “sneaky” was a bit too much lol. And I didn’t say it was a bad thing, I just meant that it was an uneeded thing that nobody asked for and I don’t see any other use for it except pushing players to be able to play HoT maps (tell me about being “stuck” in Silverwastes in a “level 80 trial” while not reaching 80 lol). Why rushing with leveling? First NPE and now this… I miss enjoying exploration while leveling :/

And GW2 is one of the very few F2P games that doesn’t have pay to win items on their cash store.

That’s a thing I like about this game.

Yes, I am. I see this in every game. And Anet has a history of doing more nice things for it’s player base than any game I have ever seen. In GW1 the player base was much more appreciative of it but GW2 just seems to have the whiners that WoW used to have. At some point when people do nothing but complain when they are given things for free it will make those who give the free things away that there is no benefit to them making that special extra effort.

I was just teasing you, although I also don’t see this thread as a complaint but more like suggestions. Also, not everything is really “free”, some of them may have things or intentions “behind the scenes” O.o I tend to discord that people here aren’t appreciative, I have seen another threads where people thanked them for features or even fixes.

People also need to stop and think about how complex an inventory database is. These shared slot are shared across all characters on an account. To make them movable isn’t nearly as easy as moving a bag from one slot to another as some posters seem to think. To make it movable the code would have to take into account hundreds of more variable such as one character may have 8 bag slots, another have only 6 while another may have only the minimum 5. There is a potential to have a lot of things break by adding in that customization into shared inventory slots that is much easier to do on an individual character. And if past experience has shown anything it’s that the ones who demand that their little wants are met will be the first ones to yell if what they want introduces a bug.

Well, I tend to agree with you in your last points. This feature seems to be somewhat more complex than the inventory itself, not to mention the inventory itself suffers from a bug that devs haven’t been able to fix for 2 years now that comes and goes all out of nowhere.

What means that “one time”? it will disappear if i use the 80 boost?

Being at the top makes sense as it’s designed for things to be used across all characters, such as bank access, merchants, TP, etc. Being at the top makes it easier and faster for the items to be accessed.

Just amazes me people can always find ways to complain about being given something for free…

Some people have things organized differently on their characters. There is no one correct way. Some prefer to have everything on the bottom and there’s nothing wrong with that.

For weapons and such that are character specific, yes, I can see that. I do that myself with invisible bags. However, putting things like merchants in the bottom just adds more work to scrolling down to get them.

Besides, we are still talking about people complaining about something given to them absolutely free. If it’s so inconvenient for someone, ignore it. They literally are no worse off than they were before.

And are you bothered by people’s complaints? Just ignore it. :P Nobody asked for it, getting it for free doesn’t mean we wanted it or will have use for it. :P
