Anet can’t save dead servers only players can. Get over it, WvW is not about even numbers, even fights, fair match ups. The old days of guilds anchoring a wvw time zone are long gone.
Across all the servers, how many guilds can you name that are able to anchor their respective time zones by themselves? The current list of elite wvw guilds are minimal. Curent guilds just want to nut hug and complain about uneven fights, pugs, and anet. There aren’t too many elite guilds left across the board.
Lol, you guys think CD isn’t showing up? The t3 matchup has more CD guilds showing up than the t4 matchups. I’d venture to say the Wood League fairweathers are gone. but the other alliance server guilds cut their raids short or not showing up is more exact. But there are some that are still some trying to hang in there from the other servers. Those are the ones that are learning how to enjoy fights alot more and worry less about map politics and ninja ppt.
The 3 hour+ garrison defense by CD over the weekends was epic. Friday/Saturday YB/SOS alternating on our garrison from NA to Late NA was best fight’s we’ve had in a while. Not to mention the pushes on our EBG keep by both YB/SOS to force us to map hop.
The salty whispers to us about how we don’t belong here is priceless. Because they fear glicko might send them down to t4. People screaming collusion, we’re just lmfao every raid and hope you do collude. Better than chasing down a map blob humping SMC with max siege. The map politics is strong o YB/SOS.
Do you have a 5-10 man crew that can home bl scout? We are looking to build a roaming/scout team to find fights and ktrains for us to pop and respond. i’ll have someone try to contact you.
When IOJ unlinks, the server it gets linked with will be a hot mess. Just like when ET got linked. There were probably more ET guilds that were there for T1 than Bp/Kn/Cd individually or maybe even 2/3 of them. IOJ as we speak probably has more guilds than T4 servers and perhaps some T3 individually with all the transfers inc.
Most of the nuthug fail guilds transferred to t1 already. T4 is just ripe with lolli gaggers that don’t really care about siege placement, over time PPT, map politic, etc. Otherwise, a handful of the t2-4 guilds would give more than half the guilds in t1 a run for their money.
Linking has been the lesser of 2 evils compared to doing nothing. It surely spices things up. You’re expecting Anet to predict bandwagoners. People transferring to the underdog by going up? T4 had the most action first 2 weeks.
Nah if you were really trying to play the under dog, you’d play on DH atm and try to rally it up. But most guilds that transfer around are almost ded guilds that couldn’t hold their own ground.
Stagnation kills tiers more than anything. Why do you think T1 needs to keep buying guilds?
Can Anet confirm if the t4 matchup will change this reset? if not, i need to adjust my guild’s raid times for pokemon go.

My home girl James, we need recruits to take us to t3 to play with you. let’s distribute this fairly.
It’s relative to how much work you want to put in to getting those recruits. We were guests to SBI. We were able to recruit a handful of people from SBI over. Part of it will be preparation, can you help them with transfer costs? Can you provide an environment they want to play in? Although I like fighting Mag, not everyone is all about the Magswag.
You’ll have to build your own guild identity more so with server linkings. We see the server linking as an opportunity to recruit across servers without having to transfer. Similar to what alot of the bandwagon guilds do, but we’re too cheap to transfer.
Focus on guild identity first, and server identity second. This is guild wars afterall.
Nah it’s not much about spies mate. It’s about getting to the loot bags as fast as we can with the people we want. Much more difficult to fight map queues or above average guild groups with only 50% of your comp porting into a map to respond.
We also close our squads so we can watch our own guild’s movement. So when the blue dots move, they are moving with the guild group. And not getting confused by the 3 pugs that can’t or fail to push.
I don’t think there are any guilds that care much about “spies.” Not anymore at least, remember a year ago there were a couple paranoid commanders about “spies.” but at this stage, most of CD just wants fights.

If you were following [VII] last night, then sorry about the map hopping. we have minimal scouts and when one of our reliable scouts recall us to X BL because there’s a zerg on a t3 keep/smc. CD teamspeak was funky last night too and we had to use a friend’s ts.
Leaving the BL info in a squad or map chat is a concern for us. But the priority for us to respond is to get our people into the BL as fast as possible on those recalls. I believe many of the guild groups will try to leave info in squad/team/mapchat but the primary concern is to get the core 15-20 of their comp in first and ready to fight. An example of those situations would be Bay and SMC late NA last night.

SBI was the host server, CD’s wvw pop is quite low. This is more of a fairweather phenomenon for all 4 servers. Ones that haven’t tasted “winning” so to say in the ppt game for probably over a year. You can’t blame anet for not being able to account for fairweather pop.

We did with 5 for gilded hallow. Finished it by around 5am PST on Friday morning (5hours after release). We reset it after the first try when we hit 3 fails. Second run took <15mins without any fails I think.
For the most part, my scrubs do’t do much PvE. IE: I was running the wvw shout build with warhorn traits but I was using GS/Hammer. Didn’t realize it til someone called me out on it from my twitch >.>
My necro was dropping wells like an omniblob was in front of her. our sustain was a selfish ranger healing himself only. All in all, love my peeps.
It’s kinda motivating. Since we don’t raid on weekends, our KDR was much lower (0.60?) But we raid late NA and I take a before and after raid shoot. we bump it up from 0.02-0.05 each night we raided. Although semi flawed, it is still an encouraging metric. Since we know in Late NA on CD, we’re usually the only guild raiding.
However, any fix shouldn’t punish someone for being where they are.
Anything outside of the 24/7 mode is punishing players for living and having the schedule they have. For most of these posted suggestions, the mode should not be altered to accommodate poorly managed worlds at all. Building a competitive World is what the mode is about. What the Dev’s need to look at is how to empower World building. Right now they are so focused on Guilds and the expansion that they are letting World building go to heck. What’s worse is any changes they have made have in fact hampered World building.
Exactly. like I can see my suggestion as somewhat minimizing off hour coverage. But the intent is more to concentrate players to go out and fight. Since each 4 intervals would have a 2hr off period for people to go see some sunshine and recharge themselves. it’s still a 24/7 mode but with hard resets/breaks.
I am basing this suggestion off a few things. In particularl the length of guild raids and commanders staying tagged. By concentrating players onto lesser maps and into a smaller time frame, I believe it would be more enjoyable. As the fights are plenty and it’s not a prolong 6hour half kitten ktrain raid. I’m not suggesting different hours get different scores.
-Break it into 4 intervals, with 6 hours per interval.
-Of those 6 hrs, 4 hours contribute to wvw PPT +PPK, 2hrs downtime before next reset.
-3points for first place, 2 for 2nd, 1 for third per zone. total is 12 points if wins all 4 intervals/day. Variation for final points get placed into glicko.
-Garrisons/EBG keeps start with fully upgraded (t3 waypoint) each reset. Why? so it’s faster to get to the fights. Other 2 keeps on home BL’s are neutral.
This won’t “fix” night capping. However, any fix shouldn’t punish someone for being where they are. The emphasis on this strategy is based on:
-most guild raids are 2-4 hours
-A 2hr reset between rounds, gives time for people to refresh instead of sitting on an ac for their whole length of stay without worrying about wvw. 2hr intervals in EOTM are too short.
-Paper structures are what demoralize wvwers and no one wants to defend it. I’ve noticed if they are upgraded and guilds are raiding, they are willing to defend it.
-Seeing a 50k blowout lead by Monday, most just give up. Fights are not as meaningful and kinda just people kittening.
-We’re trying to concentrate players into wvw, not spread them out. Each time zone has a 4hr window to raid and refresh.
-With guild halls and gvgers spreading out wvw population. The 2 hour window can be used for gvg guilds to gvg but also enjoy wvw raiding.
-Cut the maps down to 2/3. Idea is to concentrate people into wvw but make it meaningful not stressful.

Interesting in regards to your disdain for t3. you are probably fortunate that none of the t3 servers have any incentive to move up to t2. King Xushin could PPT magswag up to t2 and further accelerate your decline and it might as well be SOR 2.0. that break into silver by any of the t2 servers would cause a snowball effect as your false sense of dominance in PPT is shattered. Once you realized the past couple years that t2 was t1 lite match manipulation. As the loudest and proudest pvd heroes will be the ones crying and jumping ship. Be gracious that you have the time to rebuild your community while still near the “top” of coverage wars.
Think you have a misconception. Usually it’s the PPT try hards screaming at the top of their lungs that cause the friction in a server. The ones that were once able to ktrain and pvd to glory. Isn’t that what the friction in SOS was? Their OCX pvd vs everyone else not carrying their weight?
Look there’s PPT, then PPT try hard. PPT usually encompasses somewhat of a fight. The tryhards either a) wait til everyone sleeps and knock out doors and show how awesome they are or b) a dominating time zone for X server and thinking they are Anet’s gift of pvd. EU generally PPT’s to generate fights. While NA PPT tryhards, knock a gate then sees some resistance and runs away. Where you spend 2/3 hours of your raid chasing a tail.
GvG guilds have some bad apples. But don’t go on saying, the PPT ktrain commanders aren’t full of themselves either. seems like they are congregating back on t1.5 lite. T3 is not so much glicko manipulation. It’s that there’s no incentive to go up against heavy off hour coverage chest thumping.
What classes do you play? We’re on CD, kinda in casual mode atm. Still raiding 2-3 week nights from 8pm -11pm ish PST. And how outmanned are you willing to fight against? There’s also [PvP] on CD that just hopped there. More serious raiders, think they raid more on weekends.

Tonic event- since every primadonna wvw guild thinks they’re so awesome.
-Ghost tonic vendor at spawn with a set of 3-5 colors. Allows guilds to ghost up and identify guild raids on map. Doesn’t change into a ktrain. promotes team fighting as you can see the guild members easier.
-Don’t make it free, make it like 5-10silver to tonic up each time you die. Just to spice it up and people don’t take it for granted. Each tonic lasts 1hr or until you are killed. The reason for the cost is to help reduce inflation.
-You can even rotate 3 different sets of colors each month so you can prolong the use and reuse of this event.
Tonics help reduce driver sniping, identification of own raid group, and enhances my good looks in fights without disturbing current balance
I’d recommend looking into ebay for t4. They have a couple good anchor guilds in na prime and late na in woe/cot/gh that fight pretty hard. Then their coverage collapses after that.
DH’s full status might mean it has potential for post HoT if their players return. but not sure how that’s going. They also have a fight based sea guild sorta in [sotd] but seem to be MIA for the moment. Which means they have some coverage past na prime.
HODB has some interesting rumors flying around. NSP has NA prime coverage only.
The main 8-10 guys that were RL friends are on CD but play intermittently now. Some are on archeage I believe. But for the most part they merged with [PS] on CD for the time being until Ace finds the time to run wvw again. you can contact Ohbe on CD for info about them.
You have a very complex situation to deal with. On one end, you don’t want your pvp center to revolve around off hour coverage, at the same time you don’t want to neglect groups of players. Proposal will be alot of testing then tweaking, you won’t get it on the first try. The wvw system is great, it just needs tweaking. the combat mechanics are great in gw2.
Possible Changes:
-Break the scoring into 6 hours on 2 hours off intervals. Scoring is still the sum total of each time period collectively over the week. Similar to eotm, except the duration of the thing should be 6hours (24hour day= 3 matches/day). most guilds raid 3hrs+ a day, rarely can they raid 8. this also allows them time to take a break, take some fresh air, get a life, and come back for more.
-King of the hill PPT- similar to spvp, but larger areas with multiple points of entry, and terrain advantages. PPT accumulates for area every 5mins instead of 15. As long as there is at least 1 person on it. PPT accumulates in bulk of players on an objective but needs to taper off in larger numbers. IE: 1 ppt/1 person, 5/5, 10/10, 20/15, 25/20, 30/25 etc.
-Points for kills
-Points for stomps
-3 different maps, not 3 of same BL maps.
So a popularity contest?
WvW is all about population…
not really…population and coverage is a large part. But the commanders that run during those times and how they play will set it apart. For instance on CD. Ohbe is a game changer because CD was heavily outnumbered during NA prime. often times fighting outmanned on home bl. But he’s able to to stabilize it with the assets he had and brought morale back for NA prime. Hence the game changer, a complete 180 of a dire situation.
T3-T4 is well-balanced; we get that. If there was a magical way we could get Maguuma to rebuild; we’d be perfectly happy to let Silver League to it’s own thing in perpetuity.
However, playing for PPT outside of T1 is a fool’s errand. Sitting on siege all day? Just close the game down and play minesweeper, it’s more dynamic than that.
Besting an opponent with equal (or near to equal)numbers? That’s something special. That’s the kind of experience that drew me into online-gaming. Working constructively with a team and destructively against an enemy. Dropping Earthshaker onto a fleeing zerg, watching clusters drop when you drop necro-wells, strolling through a sea of red rings because your Guardians and eles are on top of things….that is awesome.
Sounds much better than running up to an abandoned tower, pressing “1” for 2 minutes, then getting a champ bag with 1 green and two crappy blue weapons.
That can be good at times too, but it’s stale if that’s all there is. Without the dynamic fights, it’s dull.
Perhaps you can take to attacking the keeps/towers during their defended prime times? that’s a big challenge that there are few commanders take. that takes some skill to manage supplies, dividing your forces, working with other teams, etc. PvD is a whole different level of skill. Like if I’m gonna finish my ice cream before the door goes down level.
GvG is like an all star game mode where the best players/fighters come for the slam dunk highlight reel contest. While wvw is like everything, the whole game. Strategy, organization, open field, ppt kitten, offense, defense, etc. It’s the free throws, the 3 pointers, the in the paint battles, the dunks also. Neglecting any of the little game modes can screw a server over in matchup. Continuously screwing yourself over will end up in a dead team dead server. T2 marketed themselves really well and took advantage of that for recruiting. However the shift now seems to be looking for “WvW guilds” not necessarily just gvg guilds anymore.
The demands for the wvw guild has now extended to gvg and they will need to adapt and perform in both ways or they’ll just keep being free agents and server hopping.
That’s actually a really cool thing NSP did. We haven’t faced NSP in a while. Would be nice if we get a chance in season 3, but if CD is matched up against YB. We will probably be working out offensive mechanics on YB to practice.
These threads are always weird since we haven’t heard of 99% of the commanders on other servers.
If you command a lot you get to know who you’re up against. I’m saying “Game Changers” in a sense they can break opposing servers morale to blow a close match out. Often they are celebrity commanders so to say. They are usually capable of playing the PPT game and open field game which sets them apart from one that focuses over another.
But yah, sad CD didn’t get a chance to test itself out against Maguuma’s commanders like Nacho, Xushin, etc. Not sure if we had a chance against Tryron from FA in season 2, but I was usually pinned into home bl during that match. Fun none the less.
^the truth is there by chris. the two have to coexist. the moment one side discriminates or neglects the other, that’s when the server hits the fan. finding the right balance for each server is a tricky art.
No one is asking the new T3 to “become Maguuma”… in fact it would best if they did not follow that example.
No one is saying change how you play here, it’s just being said that whoever gets firmly placed at #6 (it’s fair to say the ball is in YB’s court on this one) should be under consideration for GvG guilds looking to transfer, or a spot for people wanting to start one.

Nah, the worst thing that can happen are the GvG guilds not contributing to anything but themselves. Then leaving when the rest of the server can’t carry wvw/ppt for them and leave to the next one to claim their awesomeness. that is probably why every server in t3 and below are wary of all these “gvg” guilds. Wouldn’t exactly call DK capable of open-field… Janggun yes, back in the day, although I’d be curious to see how something the size of WM would work these days.
The term was “capable” for a reason, not extraodinary. But my primary reason to mention him is that with him playing 16+ hours/day is a game changer. although his methods may be in disagreement. Similar to there are a lot of good gvg guilds/commanders but they are less capable at taking t3 objectives with defenders. I wouldn’t consider leaving the map because too many people are defending it and coming back when the map is “cooled down” as a game changing commander. Trying to keep it as general as possible but focusing in on some individuals.
I’m just curious out there on your respective servers in the past and present, who would you consider to be game changing commander(s)? Usually they are ones I see that are capable of changing the tide of a close match up. I’ve heard and seen some and they usually have certain attributes to them:
Maybe give a little info about them. Since alot of the hype are around gvg guilds/drivers. However great they are at gvg, they may not be wvw game changers.
-capable of open field
-can draw a large enough guild/zerg
-can supply manage and strategize offensively and defensively. they can change a hopeless last stand garrison defense and stabilize it. offensively they can take BL’s at will (excluding off hour pvd, so there has to be resistance)
-good mentors for other commanders, they often are the ones training up new ones

Which may result in a t2-4 brawl and offer more variety than a locked in tier kinda thing. we already have 6 servers for t3/4 with maguuma joining the ranks thats 7. figure that’s better than the same stale matchups and same people for months on end.
