mesmers are realy bad at low lvls. Also you should pick up a lvl 14-15 green set armor off the TP to better your dps. I did that last night and cost roughly 4 silvers give or take.

Besides you are a ranged caster…ofc you will need to kite eventualy. Also it could be due to the weapon you are using too.

Im leveling my elem atm and he is lvl 15 too. Going dual daggers for the melee range casting and i like it..It’s fast and alot of aoe damage.

Personaly id take your mesmer into the mist and play around with the different types of weapons you can use and check out skill and traits too.

I used to think the same way for the cost of wp’s but then i stoped thinking like that once i opend my invo from completing 1 event while in orr. It was full. Full enough with trash to sell off to more then pay for 10 wps costs within orr. From 1 event.

As is completing any event basicaly pays for a wp travel cost itself. And dont forget the loot you can sell off to the npcs. Either way you are making money.

Only way i see people losing money is purely using wp to get around for no reason at all.

Btw if you wana save some silvers simply port into the mists and go into LA and pick a portal you want to go to……Thats free btw.

And the repair cost is super cheap imo..What isnt cheap tho is the gear getting damaged each time you get knocked down and even tho you dont die lol.

Also from reading your post seems like you need to spend some time in the mists to perfect your build on the training dummies and fightable npcs. I know some of the monsters in orr can be a pain the kitten to deal with but there are many ways to fight them.

I just prefer head on.

I dont see anything wrong with my warrior. I enjoy them 22k crits from 100blades.

If you feel you rely on auto attacks then you seriously do not know how to rotate skills. Im never standing around waiting for cd’s while i auto attack.. Seems like players that think that way are those that just smash the keyboard all at once to spend the skills.

If i was to comment on any changes id mention somthing about ranges skills. Those are relyed heavly on auto attacks due to the long cd’s they have.

Besides my GS auto attack does more damage then other proffs usefull skills lol.

From reading the comments..it realy looks like you all rather have a easy button on a profession thats allready easy to use and make it easier lol.

Go reread the skills you can use to break from all stuns, to boost any stat for dps or defense. Skills to close any gap to reach a distant target.

IMO warrior is the superior profession as it should be. Only chance the other professions have vs a warrior is to keep their distance and with skills the warrior have to use..thats going to make it real hard for them to keep away lol.

you are doing 2 things wrong. First and formost you are not reading what the skills do. They scale as you lvl.

Second most playes on these forums aim for support and or think they need more toughness to survive.

I say meh to all that nonsense and run my sigs with banner. Im pretty happy doing 12xx-17k damage with 21k hp atm. Ill have more stats as i get better gear.

You have to get out of the mindset of traditional mmo thinking where toons have roles. Theres sorta a roll..just dps/support or pure dps and nothing more.

Either one kites while they have the agro to help group then switch when agro changes to other players.

First and formost you need to figure out the play style you enjoy playing the most,…..not what others recomend. Thanks to dodge skills you can do much more being just dps.

Second hit up the mists and play around with traits and weapon types..

When i was lvling my first warrior i was all about sword/axe great aoe skills and decent damage but i knew the great sword gives more damage. Sword deals bleed damage were greatsword is instant damage and alot of it.

You may have read about how stat like precision scales as you lvl..its awsome at low lvls. At lvl 80 111 precision gives my warrior 5% crit chance lol.

Just figure out if you wana be a supporter

deal decent damage

or plow through

Either way toughness is a joke when it comes to pve crit damage recived by monsters. Ive been knocked down at 3/4 health with 2k armor roughly 1800 toughness.

My motto is kill them before they kill you.

I respect your opinion, but I actually find GW2 skill-based combat miles above “spamming a pre-made rotation with low ping while having all castbars and other babyproof systems” WoW gimmick.

In WoW every class has a precise rotation that is just the best, with a couple cooldowns to time and that’s about it.
In GW2 there is no rotation, you need to use your abilities when they are actually needed – and timing is crucial.

If you believe the WoW gimmick is better then I’m afraid this game is not for you.
To each his own I guess, but there is 0% chance that Anet will change this awesome combat to meet the needs of a WoW player.

this is the funny part..there is no need for “rotations” for this game becuase its all gear check/traits. This game is a copy of wow plane and simple. Only difference is the deves tried to be different by adding a dodge skill..But realisticaly its wow in a sense but worse then wow. Devs realy screwed up on this game when it came to dungeons and combat for this game. Im in no way shape or form wanting things like in wow.. but i wish things where more like in d2. in d2 you control your own defensive moves as well as offensives. Modern gaming they have programs that does it all…imo they fail.

I so miss pvp in diablo2. thats real pvp period. Player is 100% in control.

Ive never even watched a full cutscene on the game past lvl 5 on my first toon created once i learned you can skip..Story in this game is super terribel..worse the a “scifi original” movie. Game play is close to the terribleness of their cutscenes.

silly kids and wanting to horde currency in games. Ok lets say you have the most currnecy in the game..now what? Buy all the top teir items ..ok then what?

And i agree with a comment above..its not hard to get gold on this game. Sell everything thats not a craft mat or a rare. Sell the rares on the tp and profit. Not hard at all. And yes can easly be done doing DE’s as killing mobs allways drop loots.

But if you are looking to make profits of gold by itself this isnt the game. Crafting costs you to much to actualy make gold. Go take a look at the prices of what your crafts even sell for compared to the mats to create it. Its a joke.

Getting gold in this game seems mostly about selling everything you find and slowly build up that silver to get that gold.

IF it was my first id would easly say yes i like this game.

But its not and its fastly becoming my first shortest mmo played to date. I lasted 9 months on WOW (couldnt take blizzards approach messing with the classes i enjoy playing anymore) before i deleted and tossed it in the trash. Swtor is my second mmo and i lasted 4-5 months on that and this one im only into a month on it and ready to move on lol.

When i read about gw2 i was happy with the things they where putting into the game that reminded me of my happier days in d2 but sadly 90% of the stuff i read never got put into the game and its just another mmo with a dodge skill lol.

Not into premade games with no indepth toon buildings. Game dev’s these days are just lazy and in a rush to make a money cow with dumbdown items instead of giving players what they realy want. Depth.

I lasted years playing diablo2 online and offline becuase its super fun and very indepth with building your toon.

A way better idea. Remove the Auto aim system and let the player side step to avoid the attack instead of the roll/dodge feature.

Dont understand why all mmos goes with the stupid auto aim lock on target crap.

You will get a much better competitive players in pvp and more people wanting to pvp or pve for that matter because they dont have to use the only 2 skils to dodge an attack then eat all the rest of the damage until they can roll away or find objects to LOS the attacks.

Only reason why i dont even bother with pvp matchs. As is i find it tough for me to even want to do wvw cause i know im just going to die from the zerg fest.

What's the point in having levels?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sixfeetunder.6508

sixfeetunder.6508

The higher levels give higher rewards, if anyone after a few mins where ‘max’ level, they would all move to the end zones and the middle zones would never get used.

The whole point was make the rewards uniform. If the rewards were the same, wouldn’t you go all over? Added bonus, you can just scrap DR.

ironicaly at some point they are the same rewards. Ive have had the same multiple items drop from the pack of monsters i killed in 1 spot. Greens and blues too.

I agree witht he op..whats the point when all you do in the end is pvp on this game and when you join at lvl2 you are 80 in the zone with all traits and skills lol. Ontop of that you get free gear and weapons in the pvp zones lol.

The pve aspect of this game is pretty kitten boring.

I got my 60 bucks worth for a game.

Learned i only like 2 profs out of the whole game to play as the rest seems to gimicky and squishy. To top it off theres no skill tree. You’re given premade skills depending the weapon you use and some the profs dont even get weapon swap.

Traits imo is a terribel excuse for “skills” because they actualy dont offer much to the player that even uses them. Much rather recive points to spend into attributes as i see fit and not be forced to spend them as a whole into traits.

Skill slots are a joke imo..They should have named them buffs and not skills as the majority of them are complete junk. And the elites are worse lol.

Basicaly for the 60 bucks i paid to play this game, ive come to realize i dont like mmos. Just 1 big huge premade. They all seriously lack uniqueness when it comes to building your toon.

ok mr half glass is empty tying to be witty, ill explain it to you. Pre lvl 70 you have the quests and events with everything else. You develope a sense of direction ontop of the super boring of runing to get to those spots needed for leveling. Underwater Combat: The issues I have with it

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: sixfeetunder.6508

sixfeetunder.6508

I cannot stand, I CANNOT STAND underwater combat in this game. Whenever I enter a zone with more than 20% water I cringe and get discouraged from playing. And unfortunately because of the story I unwittingly built I’m in a lot of water zones.

Not only is the combat clunky and boring, but there’s 3 game breaking issues with it.(Things I assume to be bugs.) I’m in the Straits of Devastation right now. And I can’t progress in the watery areas (i.e; 60% of the zone.) Can’t do it. I’ll tell you why I can’t do it. Because mobs respawn after 35 seconds. Because 70% of the time when I’m fighting a mob they bug out, reset, and turn around and finish me, because I’m weakened from the 3 minute scrap I just had with that veteran, and it isn’t. And because when they bug out for some awesome $%^&ing reason it pulls every other mob in a 100 yard radius, and I get obliterated.

For example, there an underwater skillpoint here (Out of probably 6 or something) that I cannot get. CAN’T DO IT. Why? Because there’s a veteran Risen guarding it with an insane amount of health, summons minions, deals a quarter of my health in damage to me every time it hits me (As a warrior, with 17k health, building toughness and vitality primarily), and bugs out and resets every time I get him to about 20%. Lets not forget the fact all the crap around him respawns every 30 seconds to a minute, AND THAT HE SUMMONS HIS OWN kitten MINIONS.

ARE YOU KIDDING ME WITH THIS? I realize the game is new, bugs are to be expected. But what I’m experiencing with the underwater combat right now is inexcusable. If the mobs were intended to respawn every 30 seconds, making it impossible to 1v1 a veteran and win, whatever. Thanks for the challenge. But these issues with the resetting and getting aggro on everything within a mile of you are things that should have been fixed well before the game went live.

how is it your warrior only having 17k health being lvl 70 or more? My lvl 60 warrior has 14.7k hp and around 1400 armor and she is dual weilding. Sounds like you need to upgrade your gear..Ive been doing that every 5 lvls or so ill get a couple new items and every 10 levels ill do an overhaul and replace all my gear and weapons if they are an upgrade. Also you should go back and reread the skill points you have. I had to do that at lvl 50 on my warrior..kept getting beatn up to easy until i took the time and read the skill points and redid my points and traits..now im a wrecking ball.

I used to do the whole range and kiting in the begining of my warriors life until i learned how to do more and get alot from traits and use the proper sigs. Now im a wrecking ball. Which is great because my female warrior’s name is breaking balls.

Only time’s i use my rifle is a single target while im running to an event or just moving through the zones and feel like killing things along the way. By the time i even get into melee range they are normaly dead from my rifle. Realy good to use vs them non friendly to melee boss fights.

This is the only class that can kill people in literary 2 seconds. Same old.. Backstab, Cloak Dagger, Heartseeker/Steal whatever. In WvW with all the lag, a good lvl80 thief with upgraded gear will kill you before you can press a single button. Sometimes, you will be on the floor in downed state before you see anything hitting you.

It’s absolutely ridiculous. But hey, can’t win em, join em.

Why are you even here posting this about a prof when you clearly answered your own problem. You lag alot. When lagging you are able to see actions being done by other until the lag passes then bam!

Go back to wow and complain there.

Its becuase of players just like you that cant learn how to play a game screams for nerfs is why 90% of games turns to crap in such a short time. Becuase eventualy more people like you start to say the same thing in a long drawn out circle of stupidity.

And yes learn to play.

Sure i havent pvp’d yet but for the way pve is going..pvp isnt going to help at all. Thats my opinion.

you’re not exploring the world. if u were, you’d see the amazing amount of detail they put into the PVE. im actually blown away by the quest variety. i guess you have to have a certain kind of mentality to enjoy gw2 long term, i.e. be immersed in the world. or you have to love its pvp, like myself for example. it just may not be the game for u.

this may not apply to you, but people who have voraciously devoured 300+ hours of content, and are not enjoying the “endgame”, should probably…leave…instead of plaguing these boards with drivel relating to self-entitlement, instant gratification, lackluster rewards, etc. it’s a fresh MMO, end game will be sketchy because it would naturally be undergoing tons of tweaks. you should be ecstatic to have gotten so much endgame from such an ambitious game. not to mention all the amazing pvp =S

ive been playing a week since launch. Taking my time to take in the game..weeks laters ive come to realized how lame this game is. Every event/quest is the exact same. defend, kill or gather. Ontop of that npc targets can 1 shot down you no matter what hp, or defense you have..I so hate that. ill be in a fight then for no reason at all im on the floor tossing rocks…….

I remember the days back when I was playing Everquest 1&2, everyday I was so eager to get off work as early as possible so that I could rush home to play them. GW2 does not make me want to do that.

1) The graphics
It is very cartoonish and everything looks so colorful and bright. All characters look like some out of proportion Japanese animated prince and princess. Arts is very subjective and everything come down to matter of personal taste. So it is neither good nor bad. I just need some time getting use to it.

2) The controls
I spent the first 10 days in this game trying to figure out the best key binds for moving around and combating. Since combats are usually fast, everything can come and go in split seconds, I can no longer do it the old ways by clicking icons on the screen with the cursor. For a fast action MMO, it could be a real challenge for me since there are just way too many keys I need to worry about. It can be quite frustrating at time and I find this part of the game… not fun at all.

3) Combats
10 days into the game, playing about 2 hours per day, I am now OK with my key bindings and I can fnally put that aside and start to actually enjoy the game. Combat in general is quite easy. For any monsters close to your level, you can just stand still face tank with auto attack and win. For anything higher than your level or an event mini boss, you just die. However, there are still ways to defeat them. If it is a one on one battle, I can just auto attack while running around the monster circling very close to his body and win. This method works like 100% of every battle with a red named monster. But the first 30-50 battles were like: cool~~~ after doing it the exact same way for a 100 times… things start to get a little… hmmm…

4) Rewards
I can not get anything that I can use for the first 12 levels. Every pieces of armor and weapon I got form mob kills are not useable by my class. When it takes a bit too long to take down mobs and things are getting a little dull, I bought full upgrades from the trading post and I keep wanting to do that. It is like, I am not killing monsters for gears and upgrades, I am killing them for coppers and silvers to spend on the trading post for stuff I want. The basic idea behind RGP is somehow twisted here. It does not feel right and it does not feel rewarding. As a result, it is not fun.

5) Questing
Personal quest is a very innovative idea in MMO. I enjoy playing this part of the game very much. A job well done here. However, the rest of the generic public quests are just the same thing over and over with different location and theme. Pick up those apples on the field, pick up them branches, gather me some grapes… and the dynamic quests are the same thing keep repeating endlessly, protect this wagon from 10 waves of bandits and monsters… bamb bamb bamb… big skill spamming feast one after another, no plan no tactic no feeling of excitement and no feeling of accomplishment.

I can not complaint too much for a buy to play no monthly fee game. It is just that I read so many overwhelmingly good reviews about it, the angry jo reviews was the trigger point for me to buy it, people keep saying GW2 is the next generation of MMO, the graphic is stunningly beautiful, the ideas are so fresh and innovative etc etc etc… well… maybe it is true for some… but just not me.

You define the word handicap.

What are you 18? This game is super easy and should be even more easy for you coming from the games you mentioned. This game isnt doing anything new and the ideas that are in it are older then players want to admit. Not a bad game but boring. Turning into d3 bore fest like im starting to not even want to log in boring.

How long do you see yourself playing GW2?

couple more weeks…my warrior is 60 now..once i hit 80 ill see what gamers are complaining about and agree as im allready seeing boring stuff at my current lvl..and has been boring since lvl 40.

All the quests are the same thing. Same thing different zone. Devs got real lazy on the leveling aspect of gaming imo. Now if killing monsters yeilded decent xp then it would be different seeing how main xp comes from completing events in such. Heck crafting nonsense gives more xp then killing mobs.

Sure i havent pvp’d yet but for the way pve is going..pvp isnt going to help at all. Thats my opinion.

I would give my endgame feedback but...

Well, I hit level 80 on my first guy. I loved the levelling experience immensely, it was an incredible amount of fun. It was immersive, interesting and well worth the money I have spent.

Now that I have hit 80, I am finding the game a bit less fun. It’s not terrible for me, just not very satisfying. I really would like to give Anet some feedback on why I am personally not enjoying this part of the game as much as the levelling.

I’d like to give it in a constructive way, sharing my positive experiences and my negative ones. I know that this is EXACTLY the point and purpose of forums – to give feedback, share views and make suggestions – which helps Anet get an accurate picture of how the customers are finding the game. I know this is what Anet want.

I’d like to do all that, but I can’t

Why?

Because every single critical post in this forum is highjacked by the same few posters and torn to shreds. It is ruining any decent debate.

I have a read through of the code of conduct and it does say

•Avoid frivolous and duplicate postings.

but there is a small core of people laboring pretty much the same point over and over again in almost every post that dares to suggest something they don’t agree with.

I really enjoyed giving feedback in the beta, and I would really enjoy giving feedback now but at the moment the forums are too intimidating and quite frankly I’d rather go bare knuckle against Tequatl.

lol my feelings are the opposite..i stoped enjoying leveling around lvl 40..currently 60 on my highest lvl toon since i got the game.

Things are boring..same quests everykittenzone. Gather, defend, kill…thats realy all the quests are in a nutshell. currently having a bugged class quest is so much fun…not realy.

Ontop of that toon skills are solely based on weapon in hand for skills..bad idea imo. Gives me that lame typical mmo feeling..pound keys 1-5 and rotate……why i stoped playing wow years ago.
