Cash out. You’ve won the game. There’s nothing wrong with throwing in the towel. I haven’t a clue how long you’ve played, but if you’ve been playing since launch you’ve more than got your money’s worth out of GW2.
You’re not alone either. Many people, including myself, really only log in to read the patch notes and talk to friends online.
ANet just doesn’t have what it takes to keep the game interesting. No idea what happened to the GW1 crowd.
I think this game could of had the potential to stay very interesting and fun for an extremely long time if all the energy that they used on temporary cash shop focused events went to making mini expansions($10-30) and expansions($40-60) every 3-6 months to a year as well as some free updates. The cash shop would be ok if the money actually went to developing meaningful permanent content.
I was excited for gw2 during the pre launch times because the Anet CEO promised that they were going to focus on expansions soon after launch and that he wanted that to be a main source of income.(It was an interview on youtube where he was talking about why they don’t want a subscription fee with a member of the press inside the Anet hallway).
The excitement is gone now that I see they are focused on the living story and that an expansion is pretty much never going to happen now which is why I’m starting to think Wildstar made a right choice by choosing a subscription fee model as they will be able to create very large new and permanent content.
Can’t find much to do either. WvW is already starting to get boring being the same thing over and over with zergs.
I’m just wasting time doing the winter wonderland puzzle while waiting for some new mmo’s to release like Wildstar and Everquest Next.
A problem with the LFG tool right now is that the majority of players do not even know it exists. It should have it’s own icon on the top left separate from the social icon and also have a big orange tutorial arrow pointing at it with a description and should continue glowing until clicked on. This is one of the things that should definitely be done before it comes out of beta.
(edited by sonicwhip.9052)
They should make new resource gathering skills like skinning/fishing etc.
Fishing would supplement the cooking discipline and skinning for leatherworking and some others.
There would be a lot more new players if this game had some sort of free trial system like free to level 20 or something.
The mass of gold sellers would skyrocket to the roof.
Just make it so free trial players can’t send or receive mail, have a very low money cap, can’t use map chat, join guilds.
If there is no planned expansion for 2014 I doubt this game will be able to stand its ground when all these new mmo’s launch in 2014(Wildstar,Everquest Next, etc) and the new WoW expansion.
I really hope they are planning one but seriously doubt it.And all of those MMOs require a subscription fee, thus they are not really competitors for GW2 in the long run.
also about cantha.. we will NEVER be going to cantha.. EVER…. because the Asians disapprove.. it is why they had to remove canthans from the game entirely.. including the district in divinities reach dedicated to them.. (hello great collapse)…
because of this.. no matter how much i or anyone else wants it.. we will never see cantha again..
You keep posting stuff like this without ever supplying any proof.
They talked about having to cut the Canthan district from DR due to a situation like this, but they also made it quite clear that things may change (and I also think that the person making said decision is no longer working with the company).
There actually ARE Canthans in GW2. Majory is definitely Canthan for one.
Wildstar requires a subscription but allows you to play free if you purchase game time with in game gold from other players who bought game time with real money.
Everquest Next is F2P.
I’m actually going to find it very difficult to log back in once Everquest Next is fully released. Even Landmark itself looks like it will be very fun.
If there is no planned expansion for 2014 I doubt this game will be able to stand its ground when all these new mmo’s launch in 2014(Wildstar,Everquest Next, etc) and the new WoW expansion.
I really hope they are planning one but seriously doubt it.
I’m always excited to see what comes next in GW2. The epic conclusion to Scarlet and a whole feature update are the only info we have so far but I think that will be a great start. After the coming in 2014 blog post is when a lot more people will be excited for this next year
I would get excited for this game again if they announced an actual expansion pack with a huge load of new permanent content and new zones like Crystal Desert, Cantha, Elona, Sea of sorrows, etc coming in 2014. Unfortunately it is most likely more temporary events revolving around this Scarlet character and nothing to do with the elder dragons, I hope I’m wrong.
Is NCsoft still in charge of making extremely poor decisions? Welcome to the year of Dejavu. Oh well, maybe BDO will see a less restricted region localization.
What is BDO?
I predict the Year of the Dragon.
You spelled year of the Scarlet wrong.
There would be a lot more new players if this game had some sort of free trial system like free to level 20 or something.
I’m excited……………. for TESO and Wildstar.
Me to.

I miss the hunger royale and corruption event from the beta weekends.
And also seeing people in the world other than farming the same champs over and over in Queensdale.
Excited for 2014 because of Wildstar and Everquest Next(Landmark).
No offense but I remember your name.
A little while ago, maybe a week, you posted about your ban. I was unable to read it becaise every second letter was kitten. It was quickly deleted, which everyone commemted in knew it would be and all felt that you were probably banned for good reason.
Its good to see you with a more respectful tone, but the problem is it is too late.
I wish you good luck in your gaming and hopefully a lessoned learned.
I wrote that minutes after finding out I was permanent banned, it was in the moment.
again I did not attempt to bypass the filter.
Dear Sonicwhip,
I am under the strong impression you are not truthfull here. I will explain the reasons. You are complaining bout an IP-ban and taking a big ‘I am the victum’ role on you. You keep reacting to people who are commenting on your suggestion. But you do not react to the fact that your story just doesn’t add up!
An IP-ban is a very very heavy meassure that is not taken by Arenanet unless you (or in this case your claiming your brother) did things that are extremely wrong. I’m not talking ow he called someone lesbian wrong. I’m talking bout being a thread to the game and the community wrong. Massive botting, Hacking cheating, RMT-ing and morelikely all of that then just one thing.
As a brother you should take more responsability.
You are asking for a second change and you will get one (assuming your personal account has never been used for bad things). That is to throw your borther out of the house (or if your living with your parents to move out yourself), taking distance from him and what he does. And take up a new internetconenction and a new associated IP-adress. If you follow the rules and your brother isn’t using that same IP-adress Arenanet will have no trouble with it at all.
As for your suggestion itself. This is a bad plan for the simple reason that there are bad people (like your brother) who do anything to cheat. They even make caluclations bout how many accounts they have to hack. Giving them ways of tracking how long a hacked account for example is usable makes them utilize these numbers in their advantage to plot bad things. Besides that, there shouldnt be an amount of times you can break the rules, you jsut dont break the rules. The fact that people are given a second, third, fourth, etc. change isn’t a right. Nobody has the right to break the rules.
If you ask any Anet employee they will tell you my permanent ban was for 100% chat related incidents only.
Edit: I meant that suggestion only for people doing minor things like inappropriate language. someone who is a hacker should get an automatic perma ban.
There doesn’t need to be a “progress bar for infractions”. Why would Anet implement a system that tells people that they can be bad for X amount of infractions? Wouldn’t it be better for Anet not to give people a specific number so those said people will be afraid that they just incurred another infraction and they think they will get banned if they do it again? Anet’s system works. It keeps people (some people) from insulting, cussing, or doing other bad things and makes them think twice about it. If you got ip banned, it was for a reason. You must have received lots and lots of infractions, because I’m up to about 20 and haven’t received a single ban.
Also again…..gem sales. banning people who are not harming the game will hurt it in the long run…I myself was planning to continue buying them and I would want them to avoid anything that could potentially hurt them knowing if the profits start sliding they may meet the same fate as City of Heroes in the near or far future.
Well anyway I’m sort of beating a dead horse here I know even if I promised to purchase a million gems every year for the rest of my life they would still rather keep me out…I’m sure they may one day begin to consider giving anyone else another chance sometime in the future but just not me.
remember not to say bad words in wild star !!!
thanks for supporting ncsoft again via wild star !!!
I’m most likely gonna settle on The Elder Scrolls Online I would just remain here if given another chance but that will never happen.
Why did you behave like that in the first place? I mean we act like total idiots in guild chat as it’s private and all but we usually keep it clean in say or map chat.
Sorry for your loss but it seems you brought this down on yourself.
A perma ban is not appropriate for someone who is doing no damage to the game itself.
It would of been fairer to have been permanently muted since I was still psychically playing the game like anyone else, and no I would never cheat or bot…I specifically when out of my way to report them when I use to play runescape, that sort of thing really bothers me.
You get an increasing suspension length each time you break TOS. First offense is 72 hours, next is either 7 days or 2 weeks. Not sure how much longer you get after that but if those first two didn’t teach you that you needed to watch what you typed, what makes you think that some bar would?
Because I assumed permanent bans were only for people hurting the game like bots, etc and knowing there was a block feature and an optional language filter never in all my years of playing mmo’s would I imagine they would justify a permanent i.p death for inappropriate language and I would only direct it towards people who are not offended and would never attempt to bypass the optional filter.
(edited by sonicwhip.9052)
I have been permanently I.P banned(friend tried logging in his account on my computer) for saying bad words in the in game map chat and also from my gw1 account which I invested over $200+ a few years back because I have linked the accounts for the HoM benefits and they have already told me via email that they will never as long as they are alive reverse the decision and they will ignore any future tickets I open or just set it to be automatically closed the second it is sent. I’ve already sort of gotten over being sad and depressed knowing I wasted 5+ years of my life obsessively waiting for this games release.
I just wanted to make one final suggestion before I leave this forum forever. I suggest that they implement some sort of account infraction progress bar. how Runescape has it that every time you get banned/muted it ticks up a little and gives you a final warning before you are permanently banned or muted and an account is either in the green yellow or red.
I just wanted to suggest this before I leave to help people in the future since they will behave better if given a final warning before a permanent ban and it will be better overall in the long term for the game and gem sales if people who are not causing internal damage to the game(like bots, hackers) and are playing as intended can avoid permanent bans.
Well…this is all I really had to say in my last post, I’ve had a lot of great suggestions that I have been working on in Microsoft word for many months now and have never gotten to posting them yet because I really was developing a passion for this game and just wanted to take my time and keep adding to and improving them before Anet would read them but now I have just deleted them all along with some fan made gw2 music videos and free advertising videos I was planning to upload on youtube soon after some more polishing.
Goodbye and just also wanted to say to Anet sorry for not being able to control my speech in game I know I’m an immature idiot who gets carried away sometimes when anonymous behind a keyboard and just also hope my suggestion gets taken into consideration before this thread gets buried or deleted and before more people get a permanent ban hammer for in game swearing.
I will be supporting this game indirectly through NCsoft once Wildstar is released.
The only thing more frustrating than siege equipment timing out would be trying to attack a tower with 20 arrow carts in it.
OR tkitten lord room that would end up with 50 AC’s…
It has to time out or the game won’t be fun for anyone. IMO.
20 AC on a tower is fair game. the attacking server will have to plan and think with talented commanders on using counter siege weapon and a strategic ground attack instead of blindly rushing the gate, charging in and taking it over in 1 minute with little or no communication…just a mindless zerg.
Are you mad? In beta we planted 20 arrow carts in front of the enemy spawn and they couldn’t do anything about it. What would you do about that?
proximity restrict siege weapon being used to spawn camp.
It is really discouraging to keep spending a lot of time and money on WvW now for one reason.
I spend a ton of money and waste a lot of the servers supplies to cover keeps and towers from head to toe with defensive siege weapons(cannons, arrow carts, trebuchet, ballistas, etc) only to see it has all dissapeared the next morning I log in to check on the keeps, this was very angering and frustrating after putting enough defense to repel a huge army it all just dissapears?!
This has been discussed by a dev during the betas saying all siege weapons dissapear after 30 minutes of nobody using it, this IMO is very unrealistic for a “next gen mmo revolution” I was trying to build up a strategic detterence so that we can make enemy attackers go through all hell to capture the place and make them really have to plan and think together and attack from far with trebs instead of blindly rushing the gate and actually keep some of our buildings instead of playing a never ending ping pong. If the U.S military were to build a mounted machine gun on a base in the middle east to counter any future attacks from the Taliban or Al Qaeda will that gun dissapear in 30 minutes if nobody uses it??? A next gen realistic mmo should use some real life examples instead of following old console game mechanics.
Request: make all siege weapons remain on the battlefield indefinently until destroyed by an enemy server counter siege or ground fighters and who the kitten cares if there is to many siege imo this is fair game…if someone is willing to sacrifice supply they should be able to have it there until it’s destroyed, its like a kid spending money for a kittening toy and it will disappear if he goes 30 minutes without using it!
wtb Dragonite mount w/ hyper beam… 10k gems please.
yea, dragon mounts is something they should focus on as well, would be cool if they added that in with dragon bash but its dont think they will have time for that now.
ps: I think they should make fishing as the fourth resource skill alongside mining, chopping, and harvesting. and let us fish in certain spots of water that are glowing or something, and that would probably supplement the cooking discipline more.
We could have a good lore strong endgame that does not require good gear and anyone who is level 80 and has finished the personal story can enter. it could have a really good progressing story line where people can’t wait to see what happens next kinda like in wow where people are anxious to see what will happen to garrosh in the next patch.
Anet can also make a new pvp endgame zone where only level 80’s who have finished the story can enter and anyone can kill each other and they can also incorporate some progressing lore into the pvp zones. and also the new endgame lore content should be a direct sequel to the personal story.
also something that could keep people from leaving more is if they finally release all the minigames we were suppose to get like bar brawl and the DR shooting range and dueling in certain areas only like the pvp lobby, the WvW safe areas where enemies can’t enter, and some areas in pve away from monsters and events.
I know this is probably too much and a “wouldn’t it be cool” type of thing – but wouldn’t it be cool if each server had it’s own custom BL which follows them throughout the match ups?
Home BLs with different layouts and aesthetic that fit their server names (ex: Dragonbrand’s would look similar to the Shatterer’s zone, etc.). Most server names are based off of locations in Tyria anyway. This, coupled with the new matchup system would ensure map variety in every match up.
Just a thought
edit: Didn’t see capmasterflash’s post. lol.
to design every borderland to look like the area the servers name represents?
yes that would be awesome and amazing but I think its to much to ask right now.
This is a cool idea, to make it feel more like a “home country” kind of thing. Perhaps there could randomly be just a few allied soldiers randomly walking along the road that attack invaders (they should be weaker than the control-point guards) just for some flavor. Alternatively, there could be npc villagers that walk along the road that will give a buff to home-defenders if you talk to them (could be 5 supply, or a speed boost, or something of the kin).
Perhaps even something as simple as having the centaurs/skritt be allied with the home-server, and only attack invaders.
On the funnier side, there could be a maniac that breaks into forts occasionally, starts yelling about “invader pigs,” and smacks at their set-up seige until killed. He should do minimal damage (unarmed) and be there more for flavor, just to make the invaders feel unwelcome by the local populace.
Yea that also would be nice if they made it feel like you are invading on a native population and they just don’t like you and keep wishing for their army to come and liberate them, they could use examples like in Afghanistan how the civilians throw rocks at our American invading army.
I hope WvW gets major upgrades like this but I don’t expect them to have it done this year it wont be fair knowing how hard it is to develop an mmo, hopefully in 2014 things will look and feel like that.
did he mention not making siege disappear anymore after long time of disuse and it stays forever until destroyed?
if not then he should add that.
GW1 was an awesome game. dont know if there are still people doing pvp but the storylines were really good. you should also look into the bonus mission packs where you can play the storyline of Gwen and 3 other guys.
I don’t mean anything like completely revamp all 3 borderlands or anything just make it feel more like you really are defending your own home country or invading another country. If I was working in Anet I would have suggested something like to get to a borderland that is not of your servers you and a group of people have to fight to make it into the map through a bridge connecting all 3 borderlands instead of just spawning in there and if you make it in you fight to secure a base or something.
That would be incredibly difficult and lagalicious. There is a reason why there are four separate WvW maps, as well as different zones for PvE.
or whatever they can do to make it that you fight your way into another borderland while they defend and try to keep you out.
If I where to go into another borderland it is not gonna feel like I have just entered a hostile nation and I am invading it since I’m already there in the middle of everything.
I think its better as character based. its things like the dye system that should have stayed account based as they originally said in a blog.
but the WvW rank system should be for characters.
I don’t mean anything like completely revamp all 3 borderlands or anything just make it feel more like you really are defending your own home country or invading another country. But I think there is still the possibility that gems appear out of nowhere when you buy with gold. I think I saw a conspiracy video on youtube about ncsoft or something.
I just wish a dev can actually confirm they all come from players.
but it kinda seems like the only major new permanent content we have gotten was the fractal dungeons, everything else was either more minor or temporary.
I think this is an issue that should be improved in WvWvW, when you are in your own servers borderland as a defender there really is nothing different than the other borderlands it does not feel like you are defending your own home or country from invaders or if your in another servers borderland it does not feel at all like your invading another persons country, all three borderlands just feels like a random map where you gotta take over stuff, I suggest they just make your own borderland feel more at home and the other borderlands feel like a strange place and you don’t belong there.
also they should have added some lore to WvW it feels like you are just fighting for a color, they could have used all the guildwars stuff that happened before the events of the first game guildwars: prophecies and made it that when you enter WvW you are going back in time or something. well I hope in the future they begin to incorporate some lore into WvW and try to differentiate the three borderlands a little.
ps: also just wanna throw this in…would be nice if the siege could have a warning on them when they are about to disappear so I don’t feel like an idiot running to a trebuchet and its gone when I get to it.
They do exist, they are called rebreathers, but I believe they only last a certain amount of time.
Yes but that is larger scuba gear I mean just a small mask that goes over the face like it actually is in game when you go underwater.
I know we are probably far off from something like that but soon it might be actually possible, so they should just go ahead and take a patent out on it.
Hi, I have just always wondered if anyone thinks the aqua breathing masks will ever be able to be created in real life…I know most likely it won’t have unlimited air and be like 10 minutes or something but something this small and compact that can replace the huge breathing masks that are currently in existence is bound to be very popular.
Even if it can’t be made right now I say Anet should put out a patent on it just in case the technological capabilities ever arise that could allow this invention to happen.
If one day in the near future this can be made it will be wanted by millions of people since diving is an extremely popular sport everywhere, and Anet can own the idea completely and put the gw2 logo on all of them.
All gems available for sale in the Currency Exchange were, at some point, bought by a player for real cash. Players who buy gems with cash either spend them directly in the gem store (which makes them disappear), or they sell them on the Currency Exchange for gold (and those gems now become available for other players to purchase with gold). While you’re not directly supporting ANet by buying gems with gold, you’re not “taking business away from them” either by doing so, since ANet profited at the moment the gems were originally bought with cash.
But what if at some time not enough are selling their gems for gold and someone wants to buy a crap ton of gems with gold and there is not enough.
What message will it say if there are no gems available in the currency exchange or will it at that point generate gems from nowhere to accommodate people buying with gold? and I’m not sure if the currency exchange is between all servers or just yours.
Hi, this is just a very huge question that has been bothering me since launch and I have asked before but have never received an official ArenaNet response and only rumors from players.
Now I just want to know that when you buy gems using in game gold using the currency exchange feature do those gems just appear out of nowhere or is it originating from a player who has bought it with real money? I have heard people say they just appear out of nowhere or that 50% of them are from nowhere and others saying that is not true.
This is something that I would really like to know because it would be awesome to see that for every fun box or custom arena that is up or a person riding a broomstick that ArenaNet has gotten support from it.
Is this some sort of sensitive subject that the devs or the in game economists can’t touch on without losing their jobs?
I think Anet really deserves as much support as possible for all that they give us for free every month and it would be nice to know I can financially support them without even spending real money(even though I do purchase gems a lot)
So if I were to start up gw2 right now and spend some gold on gems where did those gems just come from…out of thin air or from another player who is selling them to make in game money, it would be nice for a dev to explain and hopefully say its all from another player.
(edited by sonicwhip.9052)
Don’t know why I didn’t think of this but also….horses that you can change and customize appearance and color.
I would seriously drool over more non speed cosmetic mounts like all I have mentioned and purchase a bucket load of gems for.
Just thought of something also like water mounts, things like surfboards, jet skis, boats that can be equipped when you’re surfaced in the water, or like riding on top of some big water creature that can also swim underwater and has some sort of visual effects on the skillbar and also two person cosmetic mounts for ground and water or something where a huge amount of people can ride on at once and anyone can hop on.
even if it wont have speed boosts things like that would be awesome to have. I would buy a lot of gems for all of these things. and I hope if they ever do make this it wont be some one month better hurry and buy now before its gone thing, I hope it will be forever in the gem store.
ps: If these things ever happen, they should get their own entire section on the gem store like a riding section idk.
(edited by sonicwhip.9052)
I hope they make dueling but I would not want it in the open world where the events are happening.
it should be limited to the spvp lobby and friendlies dueling each other in the WvW safe areas. and maybe in the open world some dueling designated areas to keep away from the events.
sometimes when nobody is home I fill my bathtub with a inch of water tie my legs and hands together. Then flop around and pretend I am a beached whale.
Roller blades. But only after they add those speedos to the gem store.
Oh nice. that also makes me think of things like skateboards and skis that work in snowy maps. and maybe they can have some sort of tiny temporary speed boosts that lasts like 5 seconds and happens only once a minute or something lol.
They should make a mission where you enter a dream or something and you control a gw1 character and are in gw1 prophecies pre searing and you can’t jump.
Or give us spvp maps from gw1 like conquest in ascalon city or elona or something.
(edited by sonicwhip.9052)
Okay, I just want to say that if Anet adds more non speed cosmetic mounts like the riding broomstick from the Halloween event I will spend more money to get them.
Can we get stuff like riding giant monsters, dragons, cars, airplanes, vehicles, pogo stick, unicycle, crazy outrageous things the possibilities are kitten endless!!! we could even have something like being able to ride a fully sized dragon like the shatter, tequatle, jormag, or the karka.
lol why have they stopped at the riding broom?
What would you the reader suggest for more non speed cosmetic mounts?
