I’d say all the classes have their use in FOTM, except Necro.

Even necro has a use in fotm.

Weakness? Chill? Dark Fields on Maw?
Please enlighten me as to which specific fractal I’d want to swap to necro over anything else.

The dark fields yeah. Speeds up jade maw a lot. But then thief can sort of do it aswell but only on 1 high cd skill.

Chill is about the only non exploitive thing necro is better than any other class at. Unfortunately its far from needed.

Why check for AP when you can just judge by seeing what weapons and utilities they have equipped when they first join the group.

Just a quick 3 things I want to see.

1) Bring Twilight Arbor Forward Up path back. Either make it a fractal or return it to TA and move the aether path to fractals and shorten it. Twilight arbor forward up was an amazingly well designed path yet it was unpopular because the final boss was unforgiving to inexperienced players. A simple despawn of spiders on wipe would of fixed this and you wouldnt have had to take the such an amazing path away from experienced players.

2) Increase rewards. As it stands I struggle to get players outside my regular group to come for fractals. The rewards are simply not good enough. The only players who do them are going for relics or really enjoy the content so they dont mind making no profit. The gold reward should scale better for higher levels. Rings shouldnt drop in higher levels (they should also be salvageble). Fractal weapons should be more common at higher levels and the selectable fractal weapon box should be implemented asap at 40+. Or 50+ if you raise the cap in the next fractal patch.

3) Rebalance dredge and other fractals. The design of the dredge fractal is actually pretty good. The problem is it is far too long. Some parts should be cut completely. Id suggest the bomb and door runs. And the clown car should be altered. As it stands the majority of the fractal is spent slaying invulnerable infinitely spawning dredge from a clown car. This gets very boring after a few minutes. And it can take about 20 minutes for the clown car alone in some cases at higher levels. Most of the other fractals are in a good position. I would however add the underwater fractal to the second tier so it is actually played (most groups roll for swamp and therefore never play underwater anymore).

I recommend path of midnight instead of speed of shadows. Simply because tainted shackles is a dps increase. But its up to you. Everything else in the video is correct.

You cant kick the host even if they dc and are completely gone. It will destroy the instance. If however instance ownership gets transferred to someone else then you can.

If the host remains offline for about 10 minutes he will be auto kicked from the party which could destroy the instance. The whole party ownership thing is a mess at the moment. Best thing to do is pick a reliable host who wont need to change character and shouldnt dc.

Necro is borderline useless in groups. A well built necro like 30/25/0/0/15 or maybe 20/25/0/0/25(I don’t know which is better honestly) is obviously better than the average staff healer guardian or shoutheal warrior. But if we assume everybody runs meta or close to it other classes are way better. Necro has no cleave on their max dps weapon. Actually they have almost no cleave at all on autos.

30/25 is max dps. 20/25 is more pug/open world viable due to better fury uptime.

I dont believe it works with dungeons. Anyway yeah fractal ownership is weird since the fractured patch. We knew if the host isnt in when it swaps shard the level can change to the next highest person (we experienced this when lvling fracs right after the patch). however we didnt know ownership changes and how it selects ownership.

The higher you go in fractals the more the gear shifts from All zerker +3-5 survival traits/utilities to balance out survivability with dps output and get as many reflects/stability/cc as possible Soldier being kinda the best (difference is like 5% in total) because of how weakness works and with 30 in SR you got your crits pretty much covered (2 toughness main power prec version of knights rings are still nice to get crit into guaranteed if you got a ranger and warrior in the party), kinda same applies to knights with said appropriate stats, and valkyre is just a higher crit damage setup that you can carry around in open pve and still compete with zerkers.

Please dont make stuff up. The higher you go in fractals the less impact defensive gear has. In higher fractals it will be cc and active defense which will keep you alive. Not vit and toughness.

The only mistlock instabilities that would semi force you to change gear are 43 and 44. But going defensive on these instabilities was even harder. It was better to burst with big hits then wait for the instability effects to die down. Condition damage was a pretty good way to spec for these instabilities but it wasnt needed.

Well i assume you use different runes and different traits. So they arent the same builds.

I went into edge of the mists the other day with my pve gear. Changed some traits so I was somewhat prepared. Got stunlocked and kitten d. I expect melandru runes or something would of helped a lot.

But I guess i can agree necro is probably the only class which has some builds which are similar enough to change between for the two different game types.

They likely have lots of real stuff mixed in with mistakes and some stuff which wont make it to the patch. Most of it will probably show up in the patch in a similar form though. Thats how its always happened. I suspect these leaks are intentional to gather feedback without outraging the masses with an official post.

All I really see here is alot of painting things as hopeless and inevitable and not alot of Yes or No.

This is an exercise to illustrate various aspects of stacking to determine which parts of it you actually enjoy to see if it’s possible to satisfy both sides. That’s what I meant by ‘getting to the heart of our disagreement’ before. You’re a fan of it. That’s why I’m asking you. There is no other overarching plan. This is pretty cut and dry.

It’s fine if you’re super hopeless about things. I’m not saying you can’t feel depressed. But please, vent in addition to answering, not instead of.

Maybe you could actually contribute to the discussion rather than talking a load of crap?

If withering precision has any sort of icd it will be bad in pve. Unshakeable will ruin it. Thats why im hoping its no icd. But I understand that 5 vuln for 2.5seconds with no icd might be a bit over the top….. Actually no that really doesnt seem that strong rofl. Heres hoping for no icd.

No ICD would be crazy in PVP though….you would be able to hold people around 20+ vuln constantly.

If those patchnotes aren’t fake, there will definitely be an ICD for Withering, probably 10 seconds.
Without ICD Life Transfer + Deathly Perception would instantly max out 25x vuln on 5 targets. So would Ghastly Claws or Life Siphon on a single target. Definitely too op for PvP.

Please stop suggesting that an icd would be ok. It really wouldnt and I dont want anet to get ideas that its ok to put icd on everything (its what ruins so many things in pve). There are plenty of ways to avoid it being op in pvp without completely butchering it in pve. And eles and other classes can already burst vuln like that with their 1 stack of vuln per crit. Hello fiery rush or burning speed. You add an icd to the only grandmaster version of vuln on crit traits and you instantly make it worse than the adept versions on warrior and thief.

You use pretty much what I use for that event. So you are definately on the right track.

The only changes I would make is in spite I would take chill of death instead of spiteful marks and signet mastery instead of spiteful spirit if you use SoV and SoS. SoV is actually pretty effective at nuking the husks when enough people are hitting it. On curses I would probably swap lingering curse for hemophilia. As this will effect all sources of bleeds (including weakening shroud). Lingering curse is hardly worth it. Finally for soul reaping I take path of midnight. This trait is so good for every type of necro build so i pretty much always have it. You have lower cd on tainted shackles and dark path which is really nice when you get lots of husks grouped up.

For utilities I personally used SoV for heal but consume works well aswell. Blood is power is really good so I ran that along with epidemic and signet of spite. However I didnt think about CPC so that is actually a pretty good choice instead of signet of spite. Plague is nice for the defense but i ended up running golem for the burn phases and the cc.

Carrion with rabid trinkets and rampager weapons was the combo i found most effective for regular mobs when trying to optimize condi damage. However on husks If you truly want to maximise just for them you should probably go full dire + scavenger (I dont think its worth it because even on the defense team you help with the grubs aswell as husks and having crit chance improves your extra bleed procs). Also keep in the mind the damage difference isnt going to be noticable enough so you may aswell stick to carrion + rabid. Especially as its only one encounter in the whole game and carrion + rabid would be more effective than dire in other parts of the game.

He wasnt used for weakness because at scale 80 im fairly sure you got 1 shot even with weakness and prot up. CC is incredibly underated atm. But the top players know exactly how valuable it is, especially in fractals (even now).

At scale 80 dredge fractal, direct damage is incredibly weak due to how much armour and prot the dredge have. So condition damage + epidemic becomes incredibly powerful at cutting the time down on that fractal. I dont remember the exact difference but they said clown car took about 40mins without the necro and 20 mins when they had the necro.

Bare in mind this is an extreme situation where condi damage is good and its no longer accessible so yeah.

Anyway despite my guild being a speedrun guild we dont discriminate classes, we value skill over class. So in casual runs and fractals we dont care what class you bring. The only time we specify classes is if we are doing records or trying something specific.

Im all for having fights more like fractal bosses where you cant just burst against a wall. But I dont want to see anti stack mechanics which completely prevent full melee groups.

Weapon swap can also cancel dodge.

And yeah necro doesnt have any whirl anims which would cause fumble but despite this i have experienced fumble dodges on lupi solo before. I assume it was because of lag though.

Everyone wants the run shorter and smoother. No one wants a 3 hours dungeon run.

Yeah, like those times in my dungeons runs that berserker warriors tried to skip content or got obliterated by a boss and I had to waste valuable time saving them when almost the entire party wiped.

Wait…

Or those times where those pugs cant even tank with all that defensive gear so I let them wipe and just go solo the boss.

they are actually quite powerful as long as you don’t stay within condition skills only, i use blood fiend and flesh golem while having 3 wells.
the problem is that ppl focus way to much on speed cleans, as if they rather rush trough it instead of enjoying the game.
are they in a hurry, are the rewards lessened after a period of time?

No they arent terrible. My guilds old fractal 80 team ran with a condi necro because it was needed for dredge. And when my group was going through the instabilities I ended up using condi necro for 43 and 44 because it made things easier. The point is skilled players with an average build are going to be more effective than unskilled players. Condi builds arent min max but they do enough damage to be useful in some fractals and arent a complete hindrance in the rest.

But at the time of fractured release. The only top pve guild with players who went for the world first was DnT. Everyone in rT and other guilds had jobs and so on so it was pointless trying to compete. I guarantee if any of the top guilds teams had the same play time as those guys who got it first it would have been a different story.

It works because the only dmg you are supposed to do is percentage based from crystals or previously killing tentacles (dont know why they fixed this). Therefore there is no reason for jade maw to have a large hp pool seeing as all intented damage is percentage based. So he only has a very small hp pool which means lifesteal projectiles to a considerable amount of damage compared to his total hp.

Decent guardians dont take heal on dodge or shout cleanses. I was talking purely from a meta perspective. Did fractals the other day with some guildies. And we usually dont run guardians but we decided to take 2 to see how easy it was. Both full dps meta builds and we didnt wipe once. Ascalon and dredge was a breeze. We didnt need stealth we just LoS’d and dps’d every group of mobs with barely a single down. If you do this kind of tactic with a more balanced group in meta builds theres a good chance that people will lose a lot of hp and maybe have 1 or two wipes at some point in dredge due to mistakes with reflects or just bad rng.

That being said necro is another class that can faceroll dredge pretty easily but if your group is bad you will have a hard time.

Engi’s might is less sustained than warriors. Forceful gs is better than being able to blast a few times every few seconds in a solo setting. Obviously the might stacking on engi helps the group more. But engi’s dps is lower.

If Engi solo > warrior solo why does engi have a 9min lupi solo and warrior have 4min. 6u4n6m47h

It only works on lupi because necro has very limited self buffing and no real burst on beserker. Condi is really powerful for little investment and in a solo lupi isnt going to die before you can stack those bleeds. But something you will notice about condi necro lupi is that it takes 2mins to do phase 1 and 2 and then 5 minutes for phase 3 simply because lifedrain cleanses condis. Unfortunately beserker takes over 2mins per phase so even with the faster phase 3 its almost impossible to get a faster time than condi.

This also highlights that in non group content rabid and carrion are completely op and should be nerfed. The fact that they can achieve comparable or faster kill times than beserker even with issues and defensive stats is a complete joke.

In all seriousness. There should be a new fully offensive condi stat combo with condi dmg as main and power and prec as minors. Then I wouldnt be so bothered about condi specs being faster at killing stuff if they were using non defensive gear.

Actually people are not stacking when the content is harder (try to stack in lvl 50 fractal, good luck).
How many times I have to explain, that staying close to each other is not the same as stacking. Stacking is when your whole party is directly in the corner to be able to EXPLOIT bad game mechanics that allows some skills to deal 20x more damage than intended.

Staying close to each other is GOOD, you can support party members like this. That’s how we play in fractals and melee are not dying because I’m using water fields under their feet when they are low in HP. We don’t stand in one corner like brainles dummies and just 12345 like some of the bosses in normal dungeons can be done.

Stacking is staying close to each other. It has nothing to do with exploits. If a group exploits while stacking thats not stackings fault. I assume you will give the example that spider queen stacking is exploiting. But weve all grown tired of how many times weve told people that spider queen works completely as intended when pulled to the corner and she can still wipe a group pretty easily in such a situation. There is no “exploit” being used there other than forcing the group to stay melee.

You can have both moving and corner stacks. Neither is an exploit.

Wth guang. Warrior is probably the strongest and safest solo class to play. Its easily the best pug class simply because its dps is so independant from your group. You can carry your group by pure brute force. And sure warrior lacks some cc. But mace 5 is usually enough. Or you can just take gs, axe sword and have a breeze of a time with so many evades and a nice block.

If im going to pug fractals or something. I almost always go warrior because I dont want to be stuck with bad players on a class with such a tiny hp pool and unforgiving defense. Atleast with warrior i can make mistakes and still survive no matter how bad my group is (Try mossman on an ele where the pugs dont dodge a single axe).
