Have you considered 20/30/0/20/0 for EA? You dont lack crit chance. You still have vuln. And you can eviscerate for extra dps. 10% + eviscerate surely > 15% and no eviscerate?

I would argue that they’re making customers extremly angry about it, so maybe it’s not the safest option after all. Unless you consider that you can get people so angry that they’ll leave, after which they don’t have to care about them.

Personnaly, I wouldn’t say it’s the safest option. It’s more like the most cowardly one. And telling us they would think about we felt, then 2 months later telling us that this matter was solved back then, seems to imply they just wanted us to shut up about it, thinking we would forget about it after a while. That is not a way to address an issue your community is talking about.

Think of it this way. No matter what they say they wont be able to please us. So bringing up the topic and encouraging the discussion just makes things worse. I think they would rather keep the minority of us annoyed rather than trying to respond, failing to satisfy and making us even more angry and maybe bringing other customers into the arguement. It just doesnt make sense to engage with us in this situation. I know you disagree but thats just because you are letting your bias get in the way and assuming everyone else well be satisfied with a simple apology. Most people arent that reasonable, so no matter what anet do they will get flak.

You cant go wrong or make things worse by not doing anything (sort of). So its definately the safer option. But yes it is cowardly.

Well for pve its better to have consistant dps. Which is why you should avoid deathly perception when being optimal. For wvw and pvp it doesnt really matter. You can burst pretty well with both types.

Anet may have never expected or intended players to go as high as they did so soon. But they advertised fractals as endless. And the use of ingame items or quirky tricks to survive the agony from jade maw is far from exploiting. The players used these to get as far as they could before the required agony resist was released to tank it. Thats completely fair and none of them were banned for it so its pretty safe to say its not an exploit.

Just ignore the fact that theres boss fights in every fractal which dont involve constant trash mobs. The only exception being krait which noone does anymore, mossman and sort of volcanic.

So it seems you are saying its good because its good for trash mobs. Trash mobs are generally not what you should build around.

And in higher fractals you should be using cc and soft cc for them. Which means you want to have warhorn and offhand dagger to debuff and interrupt on cd. Staying in DS is going to be unreliable especially as piercing doesnt really work that well as a cleave and you will get kicked out of it a lot against trash mobs anyway (especially if your group doesnt cc properly).

This is assuming standard tactics which means stacking and LoSing. But I guess thats where your weird ideas come from as I seem to remember you think those tactics are exploits.

So… I’m glad you are all letting it go. I’m jealous of your ability to brush it off. I hope you all can move forward and have fun with your future guild wars endeavours.

But after being lied to, blatantly, I just can’t. I’ve been working really hard these past couple months, defending our dungeons, our community, being Loud for the attention the dungeons and fractals deserve, and it has brought us to this point.

I can’t invest as much energy as I have in something that is going to be swept under the rug. I invested everything I had in this. But now there is no point. There was no reason to anxiously await this CDI as I have done. The glimmer of hope has extinguished. I’m done.

Im not really saying let it go. But we wont get anything, I can be 100% sure of that. So just keep it as a constant reminder to the devs that this kind of thing cant happen in the future. Essentially, never forget!

And as Stooperdale said. Its not a good idea for the devs to provoke more arguements and controversial topics. So they kind of have to sweep it under the rug whether we or they like it or not. Its the safest option for them and thats the way many business’s deal with these things.

Dredge is by no means hard for a half-decent group, but the stupid clown car is a waste of time! There is NO challenge to it, you just sit there and press 1 to win. No challenge, no glory, just time consumed. Granted, the loot is decent, but I would rather skip those 5 minutes of boredom and move on.

The loot isnt decent. Its better than other fractals simply because of the amount of miners bags you get. But for the amount of time you spend farming those dredge its still not time rewarding. And dont forget even if you get 40+ miners bags you still might get sweet f~ all from them. Its more like 15+ minutes of boredom aswell.

Well I doubt its 4/5 of the fight unless you are playing flawlessly. And if you can play flawlessly you may aswell go for better dps 100% of the time in melee.

Either that or you are doing fractal 10 or something. :/

Might as well throw in my 2 cents:

1. Stop dropping uninfused rings above level 20-30. It’s just ridiculous to finish a lvl 49 fractal and get an uninfused Melaggan’s Whorl.

2. Make the cash rewards better. Something along the lines of: PR 1-10, 1g; PR 11-20, 2g; PR 21-30, 3g; PR 31-40, 4g; PR 41-50, 5g.

3. Get those pesky fractal weapon chests up already! Fractal harpoon is nice, but it gets old after your 3rd. And no matter how kitten I think my warrior is, he will simply will not dual-wield shields! Even if they’re fractal shields.

4. Get more rewards for the Pristine Relics, rings just don’t cut it no more. And 15 relics for a pristine one is a joke.

Basically this. But make it so rings dont drop at all in 30+. Also improve boss chest loot. And make the chests in say dredge and cliffiside have much better loot than chests in swamp and underwater.

I have now decided I want the tormented staff on my ele. This is going to be an expensive few months. Light of Dwayna, moot, sunrise and tormented staff. :/

On the plus side. After I have those completed, I can safely say my warrior and ele will have their finished looks.

Theres nothing they say which will please people. So they kind of just have to avoid it. I dont like it, but I understand why they are doing it. You guys should probably just let it go and work on improving fractals for the future so this kind of fiasco doesnt need to happen again.

And if you think about it. Theres no reasonable compensation they can give and its so late after the reset now they probably dont even have the data to be able to compensate those players anymore. Its basically pointless to ask for compensation at this point. The best you can do is make anet understand that this kind of reset cant happen again especially without months warning and compensation for those affected.

22~24 from stats (depending on which tinkets you go with), 20 from fury, 6~8 from banner or for the poor man spotter, 50% from DP..

The problem comes that in regular dungeons its too easy to keep pretty much the optimal dps stuff and make it work.

+1 on this. It’s the fact that full zerker is too easy that makes every other setup so obsolete in comparison. I don’t mind it being the most efficient way to do things; but it just also needs to be the most punishing way to do things to compensate.

I should clarify. Its too easy. But its still easier to tank in clerics. And its only made easy because experienced players can make it work with utilities rather than being force to change to another weapon.

Still dont understand why people think theres no support or control in the meta. We use it more than the average player. Because we actually know how it works. We understand defiant and when to interrupt bosses and when to strip those defiant stacks. We understand when to position mobs. We understand when to soft cc and kite. We understand when to use debuffs and buffs to reduce risk and speed up kill times.

Im not just making this up. I run full meta but I wont shy away from using a hammer on my warrior in fractals in certain situations. There are plenty of places where you should adapt. The problem comes that in regular dungeons its too easy to keep pretty much the optimal dps stuff and make it work.

That’s why I’ve been saying the new Tier system does not work. Have an ability to pick 1st fractal, whatever it is you want it to be to cut down the tedious rolling and leave other 3 completely random, hence keeping the meaning of fractals true.That way you can have your speed clearing, and we can have our fractals the way they used to be.

I quite like this idea. It opens up the possibility for competition by using the first pick and doesnt completely remove your forced variation. Its sort of a middle ground between no randomness and completely random. But we would still need to make rewards scale better for specific fractals. Because as it stands noone is going to pick dredge or cliffside first.

So basically im in full support of going back to the old system but with the improvement of vote to pick the first fractal rather than needless rolling.

This is turning very fast into “turn fractals into speed clearing dungeons” discussion. I don’t see that being an evolution at all. That being said I don’t have anything against speed clearing dungeons, because it’s profitable.

Fractals is a whole different area. Making fractals into speed clearing dungeons would make them boring and tedious just like the dungeons you’ve been clearing. Because once you can pick what you want to run, you’d then run it over and over again for best time. How is that engaging and evolving? It is challenging, but at the same time it’s not evolving fractals in any way. Rather it’s stripping fractals of what they are based on: Randomness.

I understand speed clearing community needs new and more challenging content. But making fractals into another Arah would turn down many new players that are slowly getting interested in fractals or want to try it out.

Best scenario I can think of is making those Leaderboards you so crave go along with another mode. Let’s call it Time-Mode or something. Where you can pick your level and see how fast you can beat it. All while leaving fractals what they are. At the same time “Time-Mode” would be a great place for players to learn each level one at the time. And it would allow people like me to take my guildies that are having problems with a particular level in that mode and guide them through without doing a full set of fractals hoping to get the said level.

Proper speed clearing isnt profitable in the slightest. You spend hours restarting the same dungeon path until you get a smooth run with no mistakes just to beat the current record. We do this because its fun and competative, not because its profitable.

I dislike randomness as it limits possibilies and since the tier addition to fractals ive felt like fractals are the same each day (we almost never get volcanic anymore). And we choose to start on swamp so we never get underwater. Old system we could get both which felt really good.

If I could choose what fractals then I could pick one that we havent done in a long time. Or we could pick ones which were more rewarding if we felt like it. Or if we were short on time then we could pick the easier faster less rewarding fractals. If you remove rolling and random picking of fractals you would have to fix rewards to make the much more challenging and longer fractals much more rewarding. But I think thats the right way to go personally. You could always add a random button where the game chooses for you. I think giving us choice is the real key here. Randomness just drives players away. And yes I do like variation but at the moment the randomness is reducing my variation. If I could choose myself I would certainly get a lot more variation.

I wouldnt worry about it unless you are perma chilling. This is pure speculation but I believe its because the kick doesnt have a cooldown so it isnt effected by chill. But the grub and spawn locust moves both have their cooldown increased while lupi is chilled. So theres a larger gap between those moves which means lupi is more likely to have time to fit 2 or 3 kicks inbetween.

Bare in mind tank anything doesnt work in gw2 because there is no threat or guaranteed aggro mechanic. If you tank mobs you dont actually stop the boss from hitting teammates. Therefore you arent actually helping the group in anyway. You are only helping yourself.

I think its safe to say the meta community or more specifically the speed clearing community would prefer less randomness. This allows us to actually use fractals competatively which is one of the ways we keep ourselves entertained with old content.

Personally I never saw the point of instabilities or random selection of fractals. But if it must be random then make it how it was before the fractured patch (completely random). Some instabilities are challenging and interesting the first time but once you’ve reached a tier you just want to do your dailies on a simple one (49 or 38). Obviously the old scaling has its flaws, eventually it becomes the same difficulty no matter how high you go because everything 1 shots you. But personally I found this more fun than most instabilities. The best way to increase difficulty would be to add more mechanics per fractal in higher tiers (like tier 0 to tier 1+). Obviously that would be a lot of work so I can see why it was only done for the first tiers so far.

Tormented weapons was kind of the “End Game” weapons in gw1, zodiacs were meh.

They were still elite dungeon weapons. Its the same principle. Its just tormented weapons are more popular/more prestigious?

I kind of expect every new skin to be gemstore. But i really hope if anet ever get round to elite dungeons, they add some exclusive non tradeable skins into them.

Zodiacs are just another skin set. A really nice one but not important lore-wise. Tormented you could earn in GW1, through many gameplay runs of a hard difficulty endgame area called DoA.

Last time I checked urgoz and the deep were also endgame elite dungeons?

Seems to be a well rounded alternative for a hybrid, especially as i heard rumors of them going to buff celestial equipment (only heard it once in another forum post so dont rely on this). It may be a very expensive alternative, especially when used with traveler runes, but it could be worth a thougt.

No. Just avoid celestial. No matter what they do with it its going to be bad. And more than likely it will be even worse off even with compensation after the feature patch.

Is quite functional on Guard and Ele tho.

Not in pve. :/

And techniquely everythings functional on every class, that doesnt make it good. Ele is the only class I feel that gets a good use out of celestial but I would still never recommend it for pve.

Actually, yes, it is possible. People use their own keybindings, and some key bindings make it impossible to do a dodge jump. For example, I use left shift to jump, and space to dodge. The keyboard doesn’t register these two keys at the same time, thus making a dodge jump impossible. I had to reassign my keys just for that one dodge-jump in SAB.

That one doesnt require a dodge jump.

I remember Josh saying they made sure every jump can be done without dodge jumping. Some of them are a lot easier if you can dodge jump though.

I also dislike puzzle mechanics. Sometimes they are bearable and I dont mind them (Wisps in swamp and the stairs in harp fractal). But other times they just really irritate me. The new aetherpath fractal is my least favourite fractal (ignoring dredge). Its so boring and its such lazy design. Basically its just a fractal filled with a few trash mobs and a ton of tedious stupid traps which can be trivialized by one class.

Puzzle mechanics can be good when they arent overly impactful or longwinded or timegated. But for the most part they should be avoided unless implemented to make a fight more entertaining (combat puzzles). The boss fights of thaumanova and aether fractal both use puzzle mechanics to make the fight more interesting and I like this. But the rest of the puzzles in aether fractal are really dull.

You could also count the final bosses of cliffside and dredge as having puzzle mechanics. These are good fights. Mostly because the bosses are well designed, but the seal and lava bucket mechanics add something extra without annoying the players. The one boss fight i really hate is the mai trin fractal, the barrage phases are just timegates and really boring once you are used to them (im glad you shortened them but its not enough). If something was added so you could still dps mai trin in the barrage phase or you could use some mechanic to speed up the barrage phases I think it could be a lot more entertaining.

Another culprit of tedious annoying puzzles is the aetherpath in TA (another reason I am annoyed about the removal of TAFU for that path). The old TAFU had one puzzle section which was actually quite good (bees) and the boss fights were all challenging and fun. So why did it have to be removed in favour of a path with huge timegates and tedious puzzles? Keep in mind I actually quite like the boss fights in aetherpath but ive avoided repeating that path because the puzzles and timegates are just too much for me to stomach. TA aetherpath could actually be pretty fun if you remove the pointless puzzles, remove the unskippable cutscenes and tone down the timegating with excessively long dialogues. But even if you fix aetherpath I still want to see TAFU come back. I really miss it and I know a lot of other players do aswell. :<

Allright it is finally time to ask the fashion police for help, I never thought I’d end up in this thread.

Glad you did, I’m going to help you. Here is my 3-step-manual on how the become a fashionable mesmer:

1. Buy a total makeover kit and go female, with dark (perferably short) hair.
2. Buy a nice armor and add some violet and black (not black, midnight ice) parts to it.
3. Equip Infinite Light with some glowing focus and either Bifrost or two Infinite Lights as secondary set.

Dual wielding infinite light is an unholy crime in sandy’s eyes.

Can y’all word it so that it’s a bit more clear about what the bug is? Might be easier for a developer to understand what you’re saying. If it has an unknown cause, that’s fine too.

For AC path 3 the final boss can be killed. But no end reward is recieved. The daily bonus chest appears on boss kill. But the final cutscene doesnt trigger and the xp, 20 tokens and silver end reward doesnt appear. Essentially the path doesnt finish despite all objectives being complete and the daily bonus reward being received. Unconfirmed cause (possibly due to fast kill).

there’s a bug I forgot to include earlier. and this one really, really, really annoys me. it happened to us 3 times in a row last week.

if you kill the last boss in AC p3 too quickly (we do it by pulling him around behind/inside the pillar then 4x FGS him), you dont get end credit for the dungeon. the daily chest with the 1.5g appears, but the cutscene and the “Dungeon Complete!” message with the 26s and the 20 tokens never happens. we waited 10 mins at the end just in case it was delayed, but nope – it was definitely bugged. the fact it happened to us 3 times in a row shows its not just a freak accident – its definitely a programming error.

Im not sure thats the cause. Weve experienced that bug when doing it with under leveled toons and a really sloppy final kill.
