Thats a big only. 250 precision, 10% damage modifier, vuln on crit, greatsword cooldown reduction and might on crit. Very big only.

Yeah ive said this before. Traits are far more important than gear when it comes to being effective. We did a naked arah p1 a few weeks back and it was slower and more unforgiving on the skips but we still killed the bosses with no problems and faster than the average group.

You cant dodge into the bombs because that sets them off and makes them disappear. You need to run inbetween them and position yourself so the champ walks over the one you walked around. Dodging through them is almost as bad as just kiting in a big brainless circle.

This is why people fail these things. They arent aware and have no observation skills.

I must be lucky since we pinged not only defiant but the skill we wanted to use when stack are removed….and aso planning when (ex lava shaman phase).

If you can t communicate with players you can’t “work with pugs”.
Also its not i force them….the best part is Learning many tactics for each boss…some are more optimal some are less…some are easier some worse……

I think if you haven t experienced that, you don t have the right to complain about endgame…

Please read my post again. Im obviously saying balancing around pugs is not an option because most pugs arent remotely organised. Your groups arent pugs if you look at the level of coordination involved therefore you asking for stuff to be balanced around pugs is asking for it to be balanced around groups you dont play in. So you are in exactly the same boat as us….

This infact is not a zerk nerf thread.

Its more about bosses that walks straight agaoinst a wall to eat firey GS in the aoe of warrior sbanners with players full buffed by a guardian.

Elitist thinking they are the only “organized” party are silly….
Pug coordinates and communicate….
First reason for booting in pug is infact people not listening/answering…..

The average pug doesnt communicate very well or even need to. Thats why i say it should be balanced around organised groups. Meaning coordinating burning of defiant stacks and so on. I wasnt talking specifically about zerk groups either. You can clearly see that in my post. Im fully aware that many casual guilds have organised groups that clear dungeons and not all of them use voice comms. But they do communicate because they know each other.

The average pug will always have an issue so you cant balance around them. You have higher expectations in your pugs so you are in above average pug groups. Which is pretty much the same level as organised casual groups. Which is fine for anet to balance around. But I still feel difficulty should be raised and even well coordinated pugs should have a hard time. Dungeons are meant for organised and well coordinated groups afterall, so they shouldnt be so easy for pug groups of any kind.

Your fault…
This is a mmorpg…..in a mmorpg you are expected to pug…..
And balance team is expected to balance for pugs and not for you being the exception.

Pugging is challenging and less straightforewarded….playstiles, party compositions, tactics are often different…if i played with the same people forever would be boring as cof1 speedruns.

You do realise explorable paths were designed specifically for organised groups? That doesnt mean pugs. The paths are just too easy and have been around too long so pugging is possible. But dungeons should not be balanced around pugs.

And they shouldnt be balanced around speedclear groups either. They should be balanced around coordinated groups (ignoring gear choices). This means making cc, communication and adaptation important.

This has been a major issue for me. I tried to follow previous CDI threads. But I couldnt keep up or stomach the amount of walls of texts individual regular posters were contributing. Its not necessarily a bad thing but when certain individuals basically take control of the thread and drive off other people who cant keep up, the ideas begin to focus around what the regulars want and not what the majority wants.

The horizontal CDI thread is a perfect example of this. I saw some really cool and awesome ideas that a lot of people mentioned early on. They mentioned them in concise clear posts. When the thread started to focus, people started to post huge walls of texts about player housing and so on which completely overwhelmed the concise ideas. Im not sure what the actual numbers are but Im guessing most players would rather more meaningful content than something trivial like player housing (a matter of opinion obviously). Unfortunately those opinions arent able to speak loud enough to make themselves heard over the essay writers. I certainly dont have the time or drive to contribute that much. But does that mean my contribution are less valid? Ofcourse not, but thats how it tends to get filtered.

A simple solution would be to use less broad subjects in the future. And final choice of the subjects discussed should be given in a simple poll with possible choices selected by anet. Preferably accessible in game if possible. This way we can contribute to the area we are passionate about and avoid conflicting directions.

If you want to go condi use rabid carrion mix. Otherwise go beserker. Rampager is a really weak stat combo at the moment.

Have you considered buffing rampager to be on par with beserker and nerfing rabid/carrion? I dont think its right that gear with a defensive stat has such high damage potential compared to other sets. Especially as rabid seems to do more damage than rampager which makes no sense when comparing the risk vs reward of the stat combos.

All gear has the same major/minor distribution, this probably shouldn’t change.

The damage mechanics lead to precision being an ‘underpowered’ stat, that is, if you choose gear with x points in power you will get a higher increase in damage then by choosing gear with x points in precision. If you choose gear that places precision before power you loose damage but you get a higher chance to trigger on-critical effects. It’s a matter of choice.

Rampager has precision as major, it has this to increase critical chance, which increases the chance that on-critical-hit events occur. It pays for the increased effectiveness of the on-crit triggers with a lower damage. Expecting that it additionally maintains the same level as damage as gear that sacrifices critical chance (and thus on-crit events) in exchange for more effective primary damage.

You can’t have your cake and eat it.

I know this. But rampager could actually be decent with condi or power as the main stat and well I dont know how they would fix rabid in comparison but it really shouldnt be stronger than rampager.

Yeah they stopped the damage from killing tentacles. So it is now even more of an afk fest. The good thing about it before was you could speed it up legit by killing tentacles so you didnt completely die of boredom. Or you could use dark fields and life steal jade maw in seconds. They fixed both of those and made it the simplest, most boring and worst encounter in the game (not that it wasnt already).

The invuln phase is the most boring mechanic they ever implemented to a boss. Mai trin wouldnt be too bad if they removed the barrage phases or made it so you could speed them up or do something to damage her during that phase. I do not want to see more boring timegated invuln phases on bosses. Every phase should have counters and approaches that can be used to continue to fight the boss.

Boss fight in mmo are meant to take a while to kill. Maybe 10 minute is exageration but a boss typicaly at least need a good 30 second to at least start becoming challanging.

On a normal run lupi takes 30 seconds to over a minute to kill in an organised dps group. The 7 second kill is a speedkill purely for a record. It is by no means a realistic way to play. Plus it took hours of attempts before they finally managed to get it done.

You really dont need to think this much about what you take for marionette. Its completely faceroll. I tend to afk at the top of the lanes waiting for my turn on the chains and then i just dps. Nothing special.

Yep its still up to date. Yeah if you do use axe a lot you could swap chill of death for axe mastery. I dont recommend using axe primarily so thats why I didnt mention it. But if thats what you want to use then axe mastery would definately be better than chill of death when using axe.

All previous lupi records were done under the lupi thread ruleset. It would of been pointless to change that just for this 1 kill. Besides the new boss ruleset makes every record in that thread invalid so im not sure why most guilds agreed to that.

The records will all be invalid when ferocity gets introduced anyway so it really doesnt matter. This is either an all time unrestricted record or its an unofficial record. You dont have to put it on gwscr. We didnt submit it to gwscr so we dont really care what you do.

This was done under the lupi speed clear thread rules. Were not too bothered about it not fitting gwscr rules.

Personally I would prefer them to change to first damage though. Otherwise for boss solos without consumables classes with instant teleports or stealths are going to have a slight advantage at the start.

The real interesting thing they introduced in this patch was the husks on the wurm event. I was part of a 3man condi necro team on deso for an attempt on sunday. I usually hate playing condi necro but it was actually quite fun having a non brainless role and being relied apon by the entire zerg to clear those husks. I actually have a reason to take my necro to wurm instead of warrior thanks to this idea.

I wouldnt mind somemore of those mechanics coming into play in the future. But they need to be careful. Its ok in zerg content because you are bound to have some condi damage and even if you dont you’ve got 50+ people. In a dungeon the armour would have to be low enough for non condi specced people to still kill the blasted thing but not so low that people stop taking condi when trying to be optimal.

Something to note. Its better to go for 10/25/0/10/25 instead of 10/30/0/5/25 most of the time because shout cooldown can really help with dps if you are using Save Yourselves. This is particularly important when using reflects (eg. lupi solo).

Yes Anet did well to split up the zerg for marionette. It makes people running condition specs less useless. So basically anyone with some form of dps should do well. The real leeches are the cleric staff camping guards and bearbow rangers.

Stun beams are too high tech, let’s go with old fashioned collapsing ceilings where you need to skip trash!

On a more serious note, this would make a good boss fractal, but as it is right now it relies far too heavily on zerg mechanics and less on individual skill. This would require a heavy rework to make it actually playable in 5 man instances. You could keep the champions, and keep the gimmicks, but just lower their health, damage and armor so we have a fighting chance. I haven’t even counted fractal level scaling. As for opening the portals, uh… I’ll have to think about that one.

You dont need to reduce the damage, hp and armour of the champs. They are already scaled perfectly for solo to 5man groups. They are very low hp already. Only champs that would need to be changed are the first 1 so it can be solo’d without the use of pets or minions and the last 1 so it has slightly less splits and slightly less damage.

You can avoid most of the blossoms until you get into the tunnel. And you can use staff for clearing them anyway. Theres a blink spot to skip straight up to the bridge and then you just run along the edge dodging the knights until you get to the tunnel.

I guess you could have a boss that has 5 separate phases. Each phase is the different champ. Would be ridiculously faceroll though. The only reason its hard in open world is because of brainless zerglings in cleric staff builds.

They should still be fine for the forward skip. But I never understood lods use of mesmer in up path. Its faster to just have the whole group rush through the first blossoms and mobs than wait for the slow mesmer to portal people.
