I don’t like having to beg others to carry me through content. If I can’t do it alone, then I just won’t do it.
But you don’t have to beg.
It is an mmo, not a solo game.Going on to main map, and saying, ~want to x dungeon, first time in it~ Is not begging, you’ll often get a couple of other who, it’s also first time for. And maybe one or two, that like the idea of running through it with noobs, who will often take it easy and take their time or what not.
I think by not involving other players….you’re missing the point of an mmo.
If I have to engage other players to help me do content that I’m too weak to complete, that is, essentially, begging for a handout. It doesn’t matter how neutral the request is worded, it’s still begging. I would rather endlessly fail or not even participate in the content than to kiss the boots of four other players. I like seeing other players in the game world. I just don’t like grouping with them.
Thats a really depressing mindset. :/
You can learn about the group content via videos and then you should be more experienced than the average player. So you will be carrying them. :P
I thought all casual up paths were sub 10min?
I’ve had them 20+ lol
RP?
Only explanation. xD
I thought all casual up paths were sub 10min?
executioner halloween costume.
Might be possible with exec axe and defiant stance. Not sure.
Definitely not if you don’t have any other mobility/heals. Maaaybe with bull’s charge as well but I don’t think so.
Thats what i was thinking. Exec axe goes further than rush doesn it? So with bulls charge and defiant stance you might just be able to make it.
You can always buy a portal device if that doesnt work though.
Might be possible with exec axe and defiant stance. Not sure.
Its more damage than knights. Power mainstat makes a big difference.
Nice work. The real challenge is to have nobody participating in the event. What server you are at? >_<
Guest to certain dead servers late at night. Probably cant do that on NA though?
Wow I see a whole lot of stupid crap here with a very obvious solution….
Start with staff. Use empower. Switch back to greatsword. How is this so hard to grasp? If you use that swap cooldown to swap to the greatsword, you get the best of both worlds…
You obviously didnt read did you.
Btw zealots will be 3rd highest dps set behind zerker and assassins (ignoring condition sets cause they are useless for general pve). So if you really want to build some healing power into a pve build then this is the set to go for. Id never recommend that personally. But ill count myself lucky getting zealot pugs instead of clerics or soldiers.
I could be wrong. I seem to remember it was discussed before when comparing and finding rotations. Pure sword always feels a lot weaker than gs in my personal experience so it kind of makes sense.
Camping sword auto is worse than camping gs btw. You shouldnt go pure sword.
Theres no reason for any class to waste a stat slot on healing power. :P
Depends on the context. In WvW, I know a guardian build that makes well use of HP for example.
As far as ive heard healing power in WvW is just as bad and its old fashioned. Which makes sense because the best healing you can get is spamming blasts in water fields. You dont need HP for that.
Because you cant fit 2 gs2’s in the rotation that way.
Necro is really bad at clearing burrows even when built properly. Also if you see a necro spamming lifeblast its a good indication that they dont understand the term dps.
The thing is, I’m actually quite certain that some of these achievements are in fact actually bugged. I’ve had several instances where I’ve gone in and avoided being hit by the High Kick attack and had the chain be severed and not had the chain click over. Its discouraging.
Same thing has happened to me and some friends on multiple occasions. For one of my attempts it was down to me not loading fast enough and getting stomped while on loadscreen. But the others I loaded instantly, yet still no achieve.
4 bad warriors + 1 good guardian in pug = win
4 bad any class + 1 good any class in pug = win
Theres no reason for any class to waste a stat slot on healing power. :P
Well ok, but why minions in fractals. And why 20 traitpoints too buff them?
With 20 Bloodmagic u get a bit more dmg, and u can heal yourself a little bit.
Seems much better then wasting 20 points to buff 1 kind of bad utility skills. All other traits in Death Magic are weak. With bloodmagic u can switch traits too support your allies a little bit. And u can use all other utilitys. With 20 points in DM not.
I don’t think you get it at all, it’s not because you think that minions are weak , that they actually are. You have to try around and practice on playing with them b4 you know how they are.. If you are a MM you won’t swtich to other utilities in most cases, almost every fractal can be done with full minion run.. The role of a necro is not to heal your allies, it’s to DPS the mobs down while you can survive (unless you want to run a supportive well build, but offensive would be way better in fractals) , with minions you can easily survive + they deal damage to & got some nice abilities aswel
It’s like this: if you’re really good in a way of playing (in my case MM+Condi Dam) and you can survive + able to damage the mobs then you’re fine, doesn’t even matter what build you run o.o
Dem. I love those little braindead minions, I dislike playing without them these days..
If you dont switch utilities you are no better than a signet guardian. All classes and builds should be changing utilities to fit the situation. Every run can be done with MM just like every dungeon and fractal can be done without dodging. That doesnt mean thats a good strategy.
You are right about offense being important in fractals. But what you fail to realise is that minions are not the best offense. They are more useful in defensive builds especially as you decrease your own dps by traiting them. For many fractals they die too much to be useful. They also dont cleave so they are pretty useless for trash clearing. Even if you dont trait minions and run the highest dps build 30/25/0/0/15 running full minions is still less single target dps than taking other utilities. Plus its much less aoe damage aswell.
A wells build can still deal max dps while also providing support. You dont need blood magic to do this. If you do take blood magic you lose some dps but aslong as you keep trait points in curses and spite and put 25 in blood your overall dps is still pretty decent.
Im not saying dont use minions. But you should be aware of the flaws in using them and be aware of how you can be a lot more useful without them. Traiting them pigeon holes you quite a lot. Which is something I would never recommend for a fractal build.
Necros dont have a place in proper dungeons so they make do with dungeon threads.
Something people are leaving out is that at 10+ fractals you start to take agony damage. This requires agony resist on ascended gear/trinkets to survive (gear check). These are lvl 80 only types of gear. So yes fractals is designed for lvl 80’s. Im not really sure why they made it scale you up, it causes confusion and discomfort for players like yourself.
Thats why I suggested it. Its more flexibly and gives you some better options. Personally if i wanted to run a supporty build in fractals I would go 20/25/0/25/0. Otherwise I would use 20/25/0/0/25.
Try another class and come back. Games rather stale if you stick to one class. I go through phases of which ones i prefer to play. Few months ago i was playing warrior all the time, then ele. And now i like switching between guard, warrior and necro.
Means nothing. The xfire top ten is completely different. Different communities use different things. Example; cod4 and cod2 are placed 2nd and 3rd on xfire because the competative communities of those games rely on xfire to communicate with each other outside of IRC and ingame. Neither raptr or xfire are accurate at judging overall popularity of games. Same goes for steam.

Well of suffering for the superior dps and vuln. Plus it clears locusts in phase 1. Signet of locust helps you get out of aoe life drain faster, can also take spectral walk for that. Signet of spite for increased dps. Blood is power for increased dps. Spectral grasp for emergency lifeforce generation if you are playing condi and the chill always helps. Plague form is good for emergency stability on phase 1-2 switch and if you get caught in a bubble. Both consume conditions and well of blood are fine for heal.
When i solo him I take pure dps utilties because I dont need the extra safety.
Why use them if you can use better utilities?
I mentioned solo because its more important to not take useless utilities in a solo. In a group your teammates can probably out dps any lifesteal lupi gets from your minions. Plus its easier so you dont need anything special.
I’m using 20/0/20/0/30 DS LB build, but with minions to tank and overall make fractals a lot easier. Not optimized at all for good group play, but makes grouping with pugs a lot easier.
Just a suggestion. But you would probably be better off with 20/0/0/20/30. Gives you more support options and minion lifesteal. The extra hp on minions isnt going to make much difference in fractals. If they survive well enough with 20 in death magic they probably survive well enough without.
Anyway to answer op. If were going for a flexible build for fractals and dungeons you could have a look at my guide. You can build it a bit more tanky if you need to and use different weapons to suit your play style and experience. You can also adapt it to a more supporty style if thats what you want (20/25/0/25/0). 25 in blood magic gives you plenty of lifesteal sustain and lower cd wells which helps keep you alive and support your team at the cost of a bit of dps.
The focus in dungeons and fractals is dps so you always want to keep your damage as high as possible. Condi dps is very lack luster and suffers from many problems. Even with a full beserker group you will struggle to keep the bleeds. Warrior, mesmer, engi and necro all stack bleeds passively with their beserker builds which will ruin your damage if you spec condi.

+ Until phase 3 you can use minions AT THE RIGHT TIME n.n the only kittened thing is his healing 360 absorb thing if you got minions up.. Just use some that can be deposited when needed
Or just take useful utilities that are helpful in all 3 phases? Only minion ive bothered with when soloing lupi is flesh golem for phase 1 + phase 2. But it ended up not really being worth it because I had to save it for phase switch and he died too often in phase 1. The cast time to resummon is huge.
You wouldnt take minions for any phase of lupi. Doing that is just stupid. This was just a showcase of why. Also yeah it was proof of that build sucking aswell.
Optimal mesmer build depends on the dungeon. But for standard its still 10/30/0/20/10.
Edit: Nvm 0/30/0/25/15 is standard.

That path isnt available anymore so theres no point removing it. Its an archive record and unrestricted you start at first npc interaction. That was first interaction back before aetherpath replaced tafu.
its not like you’ll be unable to do something because your DPS is too low
Not strictly true.
http://youtu.be/458qBs7fIG8?t=28m
If they hadnt of tried to chill, poison and avoid the aoe lifesteal as much as possible they never would of been able to kill lupi.
(edited by spoj.9672)
Hes designed perfectly for who he looks like.
Does the Arah P1 record still count?
Just wondering, since the ooze was killed while standing on the coral.
Still valid for unrestricted.
Unless coral is fixed?
Mesploits.
So, I’m a guardian who pugs, and because I have a staff I’m usually only welcome in TA
kitten roll a real profession that ain’t a bottom feeder and has some real party support man.
I agree. Something like a MM necro should provide your team with some serious support.
Dem minions are OP.
Yes!
Skip to lupi and witness that lupi support. ^^
Haha np. I really like the new site and layout.
Im guessing we post in the other records section for solos. TA solo time
Seems fair. Btw when you say for ac p1 spider queen tactic conflicts with current rules. What do you mean exactly? Obviously the harpy feather spam was enough to invalidate that record.
Edit: Im guessing anything with harpy feathers is invalid still thanks to the nerf?
(edited by spoj.9672)
I dont have the video for reference so I didnt know thats what they did. :P
AC:
Story mode – Multiple use of nerfed consumable(s)
P1 – Multiple use of nerfed consumable(s). The spider queen tactic used also conflicts with current rules.
P3 – Tactic used at spider queen is deliberate disabling of the boss via positioning.
?
Am i missing something here? Spider queen isnt disabled when LoSing and bursting in the corner.
Once you’ve worked it out its clear. But before that its incredibly unclear exactly what it does. Its also almost impossible to explain properly to someone who doesnt know anything about how it works. Therefore its not clear and this bug fix will clear up some of the confusion. Yes its a nerf but who cares. Lets just hope they address our finisher shortage somehow later down the line.
Im inclined to agree with what dub has been saying. They claim its a 10% dmg decrease. But thats probably for the average beserker build. For those of us who run in optimized groups it will probably be a much larger nerf. About 30%. Im hoping dubs wrong.
Noones come and attempted my necro trial for rT yet. :<
Near to death is fine. It could of been implemented in a different way sure. But its fine as it is. Only issue is weakening shrouds nerf was weighted a little too much on the assumption of using near to death. But thats easily rectified with a 1 second buff to the weakness duration. The other flash skills were balanced around old near to death (50% cd reduction). So actually flash builds were already hit quite hard months ago.
p3 p4 jp was fixed. You can no longer solo brie so that stops selling on p2 somewhat. You can still skip lupi and go underwater for p2. :P
It was always like that. I assume they just fixed it so it no longer displays a blast message when placing. And no longer double triggers when being set off.
False. I tested it in heart of the mists. I’d align it so it blasted but did not hit the enemy, it’d put a 4 sec weakness on the dummy. If I did both blasts it was 8. It did what it showed.
It doesnt produce an effect unless the mark gets triggered. This has always been the case. Ive tested this numerous times trying to get might stacks out of combat. I even tested it with aoe weakness. Didnt work.
Im guessing it worked for you on the dummy because you placed chillblains on the dummy and it caused a weird sort of memory trigger.
I used chillblains -> putrid mark, it gave 8 seconds of weakness. To make sure I wasn’t mistaken I used Chill Blains -> Putrid explosion, half the duration. Numbers don’t lie. I did it like 8 times in a row to make sure. Worked every time as it showed.
My point is you havent tested it without having something trigger either the field or mark. It doesnt work if you place a regular field down and use it in that.
You made several very big mistake in your calculations. First, you ignored the time factor. Obviously, the longer the fight lasts, the more damage you receive – or you get more points of failure when dodging oneshots. Second, you ignored the fact that lot of oneshots are really oneshots – working equally well against bunkers as zerkers.
Basically, you assumed that the worth of ep and ehp is relatively even. It is not. Currently, damage is worth way, way more.I could say the same thing. First of all, you forgot about healing skills as well as sustain that actually matters, especially when you’re tanky. Next thing, a lot of oneshots are not really oneshots. List all of the oneshots and I’ll list all of the non oneshots and we can make a percentage to finally end this myth that oneshots are everywhere.
Wraithlord crushers slam and alphards bomb. So many oneshots!
Edit: Oh wait we proved alphards bomb doesnt even oneshot when stacking sentinels and clerics.
Anything that works consistently makes sense once you understand it. I used to understand the incredibly arbitrary and overly complex minion aggro because it was consistent, that doesn’t mean it also wasn’t stupid and needed changing.
It made no sense that the skill stored a blast finisher and then could blow up an extra one. It just did that. It is obviously a nerf, but it isn’t a nerf to something you could control well. I’d prefer they make clarity changes like this at the expense of a little bit of balance (which, technically should be made up for later) than keep in every little esoteric mechanic.
Agreed.
Still wish it worked without triggering though. I need to be able to stack might out of combat.
