-I bought the mariner horn with my friend, and together we stood in populated zones simultaneously playing F and B naturals.
-The first build I make on any level 80 character is always a non-meta/ non-zerker build that many would consider to be a troll build (magi life siphoning necro)
-I want some form of the trinity system in pvp so there are more roles than direct damage bursting that are also effective
-When Im tired or have work to do I will occasionally sit at world boss events and tag things avery couple minutes so i get full credit. Thanks for carrying me everyone.
-I joined a large guild just for the ascended trinkets with the full intension of leaving after I got them (I ended up staying)
-I save the quagan in Frostgorge
-I run Aetherpath because I have to think
-I wish I could have joined the Flame Legion

Actually not sure about the offhand set. Wasnt sure if scepter would work because I really need some LF generation, and as I plan on staying in DS as long as possible the GM scepter trait isnt really worth it. I also considered runes of the flame legion for LOLs (but also if I dont feel like dropping a gold per consumable)

Note: I wont be able to afford this build for a long time, as the food is so kitten expensive and the idea that a whole build revolves around a consumable makes me sick.

New Down-scaling Since Patch

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: tboneking.2531

tboneking.2531

Love the downscaling buff, it definitely is progress towards making lower level areas more playable for 80 characters. As for the future…

I would love to see a rework of the dynamic event system in the lower level areas. Perhaps not on the grand scale of the silver wastes (that would be ideal however), but something to entice people to come back to these areas. An increase in reward (perhaps scaling with level) for these events would be needed in order to entice people back. But theres a large opportunity for flavorful and varied area-based events to go on and I would LOVE to see an increase in pve content that uses the beautiful open world in GW2.

One little cool thing you could do is introduce little pvp competitions in the open world maps that were on time cycled rotations, similar to world bosses. For instance, in Fire Heart Rise players could side with the Flame legion or the Charr legions to war over territory. This could go on for one hour every say, 4-5 hours so that the hearts and such could still be completed? Just spitballing. Turning the arena in Gendarran fields into a spectateable arena would be really cool (like the queens gauntlet cages).

Just some ideas!

I personally dont blame him for posting here seeing as the profession forums dont seem to get any ANET attention except to shut down insults, and moderators are on here all the time.

Necros ARE very bad in pve, as everything relies on putting out as much damage as possible within a limited time window, which necro is not that fantastic at, and prviding group support, which necro has almost none of.

So everything about the new borderland looks incredible, and I’m very excited to see what changes they’re going to bring into the new wvw system.
-BUT-
Who is even going to bother playing the other borderlands once this comes out? Compared to EotM and the new BL they’re so vanilla and boring (and quite frankly, too small). The wait time is going to be RIDICULOUS. Hopefully they update the other BL so that they’re as awesome as these other two maps that they’ve created so that the wait time is spread out a bit.

Im trying to figure out where you people get these huge numbers from. Granted I dont use a bloodlust sigil because Im a n00b but still, most I can get up to is around 5k consistently on a LB hit, and I dont even want to talk about main hand dagger.

I also think that comparing our dagger auto attack to a warrior HB is actually valid, because thats pretty much the highest damage skill we have (unless its LB. Still not sure whats better, DS crit build or spoj’s dagger one, I’ve seen a lot of evidence for both)

Banners, duel-axes, and rifles

in Warrior

Posted by: tboneking.2531

tboneking.2531

You just need to recognize the strengths of what you want to use. Bringing at least one banner for dungeon runs is standard, so youre good to go there. Offhand axe is good for refilling your adrenaline bar, but the fury skill isnt very useful because of FGJ and you’ll have 100% fury uptime from your party anyway. Rifle may be good for certain niche scenarios, but in general its base damage is lower than that of a greatsword and mainhand axe, and as dungeons are about max damage it doesnt really have a place as a regular mainhand weapon.

In PvP/WvW however I am unsure of rifles uses. In my eyes it has potential as a backline sniper in wvw, and maybe in pvp you could pressure people off points? It definately isnt meta in pvp but theres nothing wrong with trying some new stuff

Q: Glyph of storms

in Elementalist

Posted by: tboneking.2531

tboneking.2531

Honestly, It depends what attunement you were in to set up that storm. The only thing different between all the storms is the duration, But each storm comes with something unique, like Fire burns, Water chills, Air inflicts vulnerability stacks, Earth bleeds and blinds. I use this glyph in pve, creating and setting up storms. But i tend to use the air storm (Since I’m a fresh air ele, it makes more sense to use the air storm too with certain traits), because it deals increasing damage the more vulnerability stacks you can achieve. But then again that doesn’t mean the other 3 storms are useless, i use earth to blind a huge area of mobs, easier for your party and you to attack them, if they are blinded.
With that being said, all the attunements for each storm have the same base damage for each storm.
http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Glyph_of_Storms

Yeah when I said element, I meant attunement. And I assumed that because the air and water attunement varieties were damage per impact, not per pulse, that they had the potential to deliver higher damage per second. Also I was curious as to which was the highest damage without traits included. Obviously if you are traited to deal 10% more damage while in fire, youre probably going to do more damage with the fire version (if you dont switch out while its up… you get what i mean).

Q: Glyph of storms

Which element provides the highest dps for the glyph? At first glance it appears to be either the air or water attunements, seeing as the air one has the most impacts but water has a larger radius for its impacts (and fewer compressed into less time, so maybe same dps?)

Racial Tensions (race specific skills)

I understand that, and I also dont want the a specific race/class combination to be superior (asura ele >sylvari ele). But I also feel like a little room could be made for some improvement on these skills without making them requirements for certain classes. They could just be another opportunity for build/character customization, and provide an opportunity for players to become even more attached to their character.

I won’t argue that they could use tweaking, but that’s a very fine line to tread for the people doing balance. I’m sure it’s just easier to make them slightly sub-par so they don’t run into that issue.

Still, I’d rather they keep addressing the existing profession based skills first, and new skills that may be coming, over tweaking the racials. But that’s just my preference.

Your priorities are definitely in the right place haha, race skills are not more important than profession ones. But IF they could get a little attention it would make me happy, thats all Im saying :P

I know this might sound like a bad idea and Im not sure how it would be implemented fairly, but Id really like it if racial skills were kind of good/ semi viable options to take in pve/ wvw content (definitely shouldnt be allowed in the pvp setting). I just currently feel like racial selection is a meaningless cosmetic decision (an unfortunate decision if you choose a charr). Id personally like it, for flavor’s sake, if racial skills got a little buff so that they could see some more use. As is they feel like dead space in my hero panel

Roaming build for WvW/ harder pve content

in Elementalist

Posted by: tboneking.2531

tboneking.2531

Just made this build the other day which focuses on guaranteeing that Fire Grab and Churning earth crit every time they are used and bring up the dps, while incorporating some survivability elements of pvp builds to make for easier roaming. Any thoughts on how I could streamline what Im trying to do here are appreciated:

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fFAQJAoYnMISJDWzA+MAdEIACQItb0GhHCUe4xmA-TxBHwAgV/BoyPAnAADPAA17PERPwTlgAA-e

The basic idea is that fire and water 2 now quickly regenerate my endurance for dodge rolling skills, and also stack 12 stacks of vuln when coupled with Arcane Power. It also conveniently works out so that Drakes Breath and Fire Grab are a total of kittens, so all of them apply 3 stacks of vuln and crit with Arcane Power (makes for a big crit with fire grab). Then I swap to earth, get the sigil of intelligence proc, and crit with Churning Earth (even bigger crit than Drakes Breath). I tried doing an even faster combo by using Burning speed to apply the burning, but the persistent fire field tended to eat up my crit stacks from either Arcane Power or Sigil of Intelligence.

Thoughts?

I don’t know the direct answer to this, but it would most likely be whoever normally has a large segment of their damage come from auto attacking, as haste wouldn’t help with reducing cd times of builds who’s damage comes from the use of skills. An ele with a lightning hammer would probably be good, as would a necro in lich form, warrioRS probably would get a lot too. Can’t speak to other classes too much as those three are my main ones

I did make a point of comparing it to the difference between Japan, China and Korea though.

While when just comparing stuff on its own it might not be considered very similar, but when comparing to something that is much more different it becomes somewhat similar.

I would also not be so swift to join Eastern Europe and especially not Turkey to the “western world”.

How is Japan more different from China than say Germany is from Spain?

And what I meant by the “blend of Western culture” comment was that blending cultures is not a bad thing. We mix all sorts of Western influences together, and nobody has a problem with it. Even though I know some Germans who still feel past history loom over them, or European relatives who are still bitter about 20th century events.

But that is just the thing: We don’t have the same kind of culture, issues and history as the Asian countries, and as such it is a much bigger deal for them than for us here in the western world.
It is also the fact that most western countries are actually rather similar compared to the difference between Japan, China and Korea.

Im actually going to have to disagree with you on the whole “western nations are similar thing”. You can see significant differences between most regions of Europe, like Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, the UK, and Sweden/ Norway/ Finland. And thats not even BEGINNING to touch on the actual eastern European Countries or Turkey. And I would argue that we in fact have very similar issues of political strife, occupations, and religious persecution.

The tail clipping is a problem across multiple REGULAR and gemstore ARMOR sets, its not a surprise and its going to keep happening, does it suck? yes. but its not going to go away. i have 8 Charr characters, 8, i love charr, but they have so many clipping issues that sometimes something like a tail clipping isnt so bad, at least it has a flap that covers the tail in this case, and it doesnt clip through the entire coat.

Why the kitten would you make 8 charr characters. Why. Why would you do that to yourself.

Those are not hints of cantha.
This is for chinese client which our clients were merged with so when china gets an event we get it too.

Some are and some aren’t. There are definately parts of cantha in this game, especially references to jade, and names of many of the ascended trinkets are references to parts of cantha. I also believe that the zepherites, although they had members from all over the guild wars world, originated in cantha, hence the junk boat sails and paper lanterns. I’d also like to point out the artifacts in the priory library from cantha, like the wurm encased in jade

You can say exactly the same about teasing Elona. Don’t hype yourself, you’ll be disappointed and nothing else.

There was a boss in gw1 referencing to Zinedine Zidane. Does it mean we can play football? No.

Oh believe me, I wasnt saying that we were getting a Cantha expansion, I was just correcting that person and saying that there ARE in fact Cantha references, not just Chinese cultural references. Even if a Cantha expansion IS on the planning board, at their current rate of releasing expansions (1 every 3 years by the time it actually releases most likely) it has to be at least another 12-15 years before they cover what is currently on the map we can SEE, but can’t yet get to.

Believe me, no hopes for a Cantha expansion have been raised here haha.

tboneking.2531

First of all: I doubt this will happen so I’m not going to talk about if it SHOULD be a part of the game. That aside:

I’ve always thought that slight pvp in the open world would be entertaining: however there are a number of barriers to this, the largest of which being the level difference in starting areas- lvl 80s could just camp and make players lives horrible. So the only way that this would really work is if everyone way on even footing, which you then get on the subject of “how is this different from wvw or pvp”. I think the real problem here is how current wvw is set up (rolling zero blobs with unchallenging bosses) And the lack if easily accessible dueling.

I have always personally thought that a faction based kind of pve would be entertaining (the final charr conquest of the humans!) But without fundementally changing the way that gw2 works I don’t see it being possible. Especially as upon account creation the only binding “side” you choose is your server, which pretty much limits faction based pvp to wvw.

Even as I’m writing this I keep trying to brainstorm ways that we could impliment it, because there’s a certain amount of thrill associated with the potential of being attacked at any time and having to be on your guard (I’m a fan of demon/dark souls and the mix of challenging content and a blending of pve and pvp). But without a map decending into a giant bloodsoaked pit of free-for-all chaos I don’t see this happening :/

Minions are currently only good for fighting certain NPCs as a meat wall, other than that they’re bad.

As for why they’re bad:
-Most of the time they glitch and idle in place.
-Most of the minions do not regenerate after a battle.
-Enemy players will focus you and easily bypass minions.
-When hit they sometimes engage in battles when you just wanted to run by.
-They keep you “in battle” until they die or you run extra far until they appear beside you.
-Their DPS lacks.
-Some minions die the moment you go into water.
-Using certain abilities kills all minions instantly.

Wow, there’s some really bad misinformation in here.

in Necromancer

Posted by: tboneking.2531

Technically there is no decrease in stats because the game automatically equips your mainhand weapon from your first set. You do technically lose out on a sigil slot, but if its a static sigil like force which should be in both sets anyway it doesnt matter. Axe has a very terrible auto attack- and the 3 skill doesnt really have a use in pve and also results in a dps loss. The only good skill on axe is 2, and is a good burst skill, but after that has been used you are left with a lot of downtime where you can only use the auto attack which is very poor despite the vulnerability stacks it provides. Axe is really only used in DS builds (which is what I actually run) because of the quick life force generation between axe/focus, and because Spite XIII increases the axe weapon damage by 10% which is used in damage calculations while in Death Shroud.

Flesh Golem Activation time?!?

I can’t tell if we’re debating something, or actually agree on what we’re saying but are differing on terminology… I think that the activation times (time before the ability happens) should remain, but the cast time should be removed (time I personally spend channeling it). Essentially the minion takes on the cast time.
