Hammer is usually more for team fights, that’s where it shines the most, that’s how the old meta was if I’m correct. Teams like orng knew how to run this type of setup very well, usually hammer guard requires good coordination with a team or at least a partial premade, that’s why it might not be the best soloq build compared to other ones due to pugs not focusing the same target most of the time for example, but it does have good potential in a more structured coordinative setup.
Looks fun will give it a try.
I rather see bunkers than the stupid double dd ele cele meta.
Guild Hall and one person don’t mix, maybe you need to ask anet for player housing but not a guild hall, if you want to explore the guild hall then join a guild, explore what you want to explore then leave the guild once you’re finished simple as that.
I disagree, core guardian still going strong, dragon hunter just added more build variety to the guardian. Guardian is probably those few professions who’s core builds still remain strong. Burn guardian still going strong, medi guardians builds are still a threat to deal with, bunker guardian seems like they are doing okay maybe not as the others but still able manage the new HoT era. Guardian has more build diversity now. Almost every revenant is running herald.
Depends you can’t go wrong with either one. I’m enjoying guardian in PvP at the moment, guardian has a lot of PvP builds that are actually good and strong, is one of the reasons why I’m enjoying it at the moment, builds that are actually good for example you can play as base medi guardian GS with sword/focus or hammer which was one of the ex meta builds in the past, you can go as burn guardian which still is going strong in PvP, or as Dragon hunter who are very strong at the moment, you can even play as bunker guardian. Guardians in general are in a bright moment which is why I’m trying to enjoy it as much as I can. The problem with revenant is how you’re forced to go into herald for pvp, it seems like there isn’t much variety hopefully anet will buff the other stances, even for pve it seems like herald is just too good to let go.

Soloq is a must, you can’t always play with your team due to real life stuff, specially if you need 4 more players, so during that time you want to still play competitively and the answer to that is soloq. Competitive games have soloq, also streamers need soloq. Duo queue also works because you need one more person which is not hard to find. I would vote for soloq just because the PvP population is still growing but in a future duo queue with solo for sure.

Classes changed so much? What!! Gw2 classes feel the same just slightly balanced with some specializations added to it, I like it more this way. Play WoW now that’s an mmo that changes classes completely with paladin being an example from wotlk to current paladin.
I play in zerker just fine. Buddy I think it’s time to use actual blocks and defensive abilities and not play full signet builds while hitting 1 and double random dodging things.
Balance for WvW? Good luck on that will never happen, you can’t balance something that isn’t too structured, unless you’re talking about roaming.
They are not op, they are weak against condi pressure depending on build and their heal can be countered just don’t hit them during glint heal and you should always initiate the fight aggressively so they go defensive mode and force their defensive cooldowns.
Unranked is where you would test builds properly that is where top players would go unless you’re totally new to the game and have no idea what you’re doing then the browser would be best choice. Personally hotjoin for me was a joke I couldn’t test my builds properly due to leavers, the dumb autobalance thing and servers full of trolls.
I don’t know why anet tries to invest time and resources on the story part specially if they are not going to put effort on it, leave that to the RPG games. As an mmo player I rather see anet focus on other areas of the game.
I want a GS for Rev, I mean a heavy armor class without GS feels strange to me.
It depends condi pressure would easily kill a druid than a DD ele.
I hope this means they are working on something like a 2v2 and 3v3 actual death match game mode WoW type and not that joke they gave us.
Guardian has always been the warrior of the game, even the old medi hammer ex meta build still is better than any current offensive warrior build, I love warrior but sometimes there is no choice then to reroll.
My main is warrior and I’m playing revenant right now and guess what it has everything I ever dreamed off that I couldn’t have on my warrior plus it’s way more fun. If anet wants to fix warrior they need to start from scratch and remake the whole class.
Can we hardcore players enjoy our content? You casuals already had your fun for 3 years, now that content is challenging let me enjoy it, too many selfish whiners. Anet better not nerf anything but instead they should mimic darksouls playstyle. Let me ask a question to all the whiners why have a good combat if the content is not challenging? What is the whole point of an excellent combat system if players don’t use it to it’s full potential, hell they even gave us action crosshair mode, I am glad content is challenging now, combat makes more sense now.
dungeons have been garbage for so long who cares
I agree, dungeons are one of the biggest diseases of this game and I’m am glad anet is taking actions. These were the main reason the berserker meta was born, with lame exploiting tactics like stalking in one place and hitting 1 just for gold farming. It is time people start to learn how to play this game the way it is meant to be, I’m glad to see raids being introduced.
Also I forgot to mention, GH arena could definitely become a really big thing, just imagine large guilds hosting tournaments, group of players who want to participate line up and pay a small fee 1 gold for example and spectators paying a small fee as well. Guilds will be able to grow and make profit while being able to host a good quality event. I can even bet anyone something like a 3v3 deathmatch sandboxed mode could probably bring more viewers on twitch than boring conquest.
unfortunately, it will be using PvE gear and stats.
real kittened.
I know it sucks. I can see pvp guilds getting around with this like incorporating a set of rules for example only allowing players to wear greenies or something like that in order to prevent the spending of ridiculous amounts of gold and that way players who spvp can give it a go, could be a temporary solution until we pressure anet to incorporate spvp stats into the arena.
I agree with this. 2v2 and 3v3 Deathmatch could be a thing with the GH arenas, just imagine huge PvP guilds hosting these events and having their own customized arenas with a lot of expectators involved. In this game PvP guilds are so tiny of a fraction it’s not even funny, if anet wants PvP guilds to grow and become a thing then they should consider this.
I used to be a Wow hardcore player 2400 rated and GW2 wins for me, combat is superior, the only thing this game needs is arenas with a rating system that is all I’m asking from anet.

Just go play and enjoy. Playing ranked doesn’t matter right now, I would actually advice you to play ranked in preparation for leagues as they will arrive anytime soon, that’s what everyone who is new but wants to be competitive should be doing right now playing ranked. Leagues will come and you will be ready)
leaderboards are currently frozen, season was over long time ago. The new season will start just a few weeks more.
High ping is getting out of hand
I am getting high ping and it’s not my internet did a speed test.
I really hope druid becomes a strong healing specialization, it would benefit full glass cannon builds in a team composition.
I’m getting high ping as well.
You make a really good point on lack of healers ruining a big aspect of pvp, you either go full damage and burst someone down in seconds, or go full sustain and win due to attrition; there’s no middle ground. Dedicated healers are there to keep both these issues in check.
I also agree with @raxx.8914 wholeheartedly, there’sa lot of room for improvement regarding clarity.
The major problem with having dedicated healers is they prolong the fight, sometimes even too much. The healer is obviously a top priority as a target. Using Silverwaste as an example you’d much rather go after cheapo teagarrifs or trolls first, teagarrifs have an OP charge where if you dodge back you’ll get hit, but if you dodge forward you’ll land in a damage field, move your mouse in a direction then dodge and your back is to the thing. If you hit the thing you’ll notice its health regenerating, because three little healer things are there.
Funny to use a PvE example for PvP, but the principle is the same. Healers simply mess up the kill priority due to their ability to keep players alive, so you can’t focus on the big CC and condition people or those with cheap abilities other than the guy able to bring someone to full health just yet.
I agree to me dedicated healers belong in PvE, what pvp needs is a boost in healing support and more viable support builds but not over buffing it, a good balance in support so cannon builds can feel the synchronization similar to what you see in mobas for example, also adding or buffing the healing elites. At the end you can play as support but still be killable not like the type of healers you see in WoW or other mmos.
add dueling to heart of the mists, boom. Everyones happy.
I agree would be nice if they add dueling to heart of the mists or any of the main cities. Just imagine dueling outside of divinity’s reach that alone would give me the Orgrimmar nostalgia back to the old dueling days I had back in WoW, my memories would return.
This video might help you answer your question https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hGZ3LjqcKOA
This site is useful if you’re new to pvp
http://qqmore.net/
Swifty used to play until he saw how pvp was still in beta so he left.
3v3 would be amazing. What GW2 PvP lacks the most imo is the synergy in teamcomps – in conquest you can’t expect 2 or 3 people to stick together 24/7, therefore synergy between builds grow weaker.
In 2v2 or 3v3 annihilation we could finally start creating real team builds and comps!
But CTF would be a waste of rescources, it would fail with GW2’s combat.
I agree with this, I played a lot WoW arenas in the past and one of the things I miss a lot is the synergy, being able to to determine a CC chain, when to peel, when to burst, when to play defensive and restart fight, how you can connect with your teammate, the viabilty and ect, the combo system in this game feels like it randomly happens rather than planned.
Spvp needs to be almost a separate game if anet wants to have the chance in bringing the PvP to top tier esports I’ve said it a lot of times and there were also threads on making spvp free-to-play in the past. Now that the core game is Free-to-play this is already a huge step in a good direction but there still is a long way to go. Balance needs to be addressed, pvp in mmos fail a lot because of this, separating pvp balance from pve would be the best choice to do, anyone with half a brain would know this. If the devs don’t do anything about it this game will end up being remembered as the game with the biggest potential of becoming a big pvp game but failed miserably and will be looked at and studied from future mmo developers.
Game went F2P and with the new league system, would be nice to see soloq again.
Please anet soloq once and for all listen to the community.
Arenas would be nice it would bring WoW players into the game without having them to pay, would be a great tactic from anet if they implement arenas.
If anet wants this game to be competitive, f2p players and anyone should have these unlocked by default in pvp, this isn’t pve, that’s why mmo PvP ends up failing because of stuff like these.
Soloq is a must in a league system.
This game needs soloq, finding a team is not always easy unless they make this game 2v2 or even 3v3. Even if you have a team you can’t play with your mates all the time.
This is great news, I did a post about this a few days ago about leagues and the relation to F2P. A big step in the right direction, next step is now to separate pvp balance from pve.
I agree with mistsim if you want a balanced pvp game play a pvp game like mobas. I believe Smite is the closest thing to mmo pvp you can try that. GW2 made me not play mmo’s for pvp anymore, lesson learned I will never purchase a mmo for PvP. Takes 6 months for a balance patch? This is a big joke, guys don’t be blind, the league system won’t change anything if the mentality of the developers doesn’t change, the problem needs to be fixed from the root, there needs to be a cleanup, inspiration and dedication for pvp development. The solution for this is to cut this mmo into two pieces making it almost into two separate games. What I mean by this is to make spvp a free to play game just like you see in mobas and make it separate from pve giving PvP seperate spells, their own seperate balance with a dedicated balance team, make spvp like if it wasn’t a mmo. I know anet won’t do this but future mmo developers should take a note of this problem at least and think why mmo pvp sucks is not hard to figure out.
(edited by tico.9814)
Mmo PvP will always be like this, builds with good sustain and damage wins. This is no different than trinity pvp mmos why not just bring the trinity system to gw2 at the end mmo pvp ends up being the same zhit.
TDM 2v2 should have been implemented since launch, to find a team would be so easy you just need what one more person lol no need for soloq and that means better matchmaking. Conquest 5v5 punishes games like gw2 so hard because of population, finding four more players would include pain in the kitten plus awful matchmaking and fighting the same people once you reach the peek and on top of that leaderboards that were fail because of the same reason, that’s why I’m not hyped with the new league system.
I wouldn’t be surprised If this league system becomes a grind fest and fails so hard. Sorry to be negative but there is no good reference to use from the past what 2 years of this game, all the past PvP implementations from anet they have been total fails. They gave us a beta spvp game from the start that already says a lot on how they are awesome at hyping things. I can’t be hyped this time, why would I be hyped if they did it from the start of the game promising a great pvp game and the expectations were high but gave us disappointment at the end. Maybe this time they might get it right who knows but for now I’m off the hype train.

The problem with berserker roles is that they rely on good support I mean healing type of support. Buff support healing.
