If we are going on the assumption that the flavors text are correct then Warrior will have to remain a better archer as he is a “master of weaponary” and a bow is still a weapon.Wrong, Being a master of weapons means he has the knowledge of all weapons. He would be just as good with a hammer as he would be with a sword, he is proficient in all weapons aspects because he has studied and learned how to use all weapons.

I want to make a special post about the ranger sword despite having it mentioned in a previous post already to elaborate my thoughts, since it’s the strongest weapon of the ranger yet it’s the clunkiest one.
PvE
Overview
- Remove the leaps on sword #1
- Both leaps on sword #2 should ge forward
- Animationtime should match evadetime on sword #3
Current Problems
- Leaps on Autoattack can’t be interrupted
- Leaps prevent normal movement
- sword #2 too slow
- sword #2 backleap unpredictable if target is moving
- sowrd #3 unpredictable if target is moving
Proposal
- Sword #1
Remove the leaps. Even if you can evade while performing a leap, it would still prevent your normal movement.
- Sword #2
I would rework this to a double leap, same as the current 2. and 3. autoattack, which cripples your enemy if you hit him and turns into a tripple leap if you hit an enemy once. This skill would get a long uptime of 10 seconds, so you don’t have to leap immediately after your first leap to use all your charges, and a mediocre long cooldown of 20 seconds, starting after the first leap.
- Sword #3
Either the evade time has to be increased to match the animation time or the animation time has to be cut to match the evade time.
Alternatively, the animation could be changed, so you wont dodge around your target but through your target, just like a normal dodgeroll.
Risks
I can’t see any. The gameplay wouldn’t be changed much, the weapon would feel a lot smoother to use.

I am really surprised with 90% of these posts. They show that most players just do not know how to play a ranger.
Since…
- Pets are Rangers, Rangers are Pets. Take another profession if you do not like to control 2 things (the pet and the ranger) at the same time.
I can’t disagree more. Pets are a bad elaborated mechanic. Just because you can make them work doesn’t mean they’re good.
And I’m definitely not going to reroll a warrior just to play as a crippled archer.
You can have your pet, I’m completely fine with that. However if I don’t want to use it, I should be able to stow it and get the damage back.

I think spirits should stay mortal to differentiate them from warrior banners.
However, since mortality is a huge weakness, spirits should get some new or better strenghts to make up for that.

That’s the reason why I’ve suggested among other things, that bows should get a damageboost if you hit someone from above, rewarding you for your positional play.
Furthermore you could remove the damage component from pets (if you’re using a bow), so you wont lose any damage.Until we get more of commitment that truly no option is off the table, ranger is going to remain a pet focused profession. Perhaps you could work on options that improve the performance of the ranged pet help fit the image of ranger and pet firing squad.
I’ve also posted a suggestion dealing with improving the pet. However, this would require ArenaNet to switch the AI engine to the client site, which I doubt would happen. None the less, even with a working pet, you would still lose damage since the pet has to close the distance to the target while you’re already hitting it. Also, the pet could be kited, which wont happen to you if you’re using a bow.

Ranger Design Philosophy: Please keep this in mind when posting feedback.
The Ranger is a resilient profession that excels at skirmishing by drawing from nature to support themselves as well as their allies. Alongside their pet, they have some of the best single target and sustained damage that will whittle their opponents down.Allie if is isn’t too much of a bother could we perhaps get the exact definition (as the designers are using) for the terms “resilient” and “sustained” as the former is slightly ambiguous and the later is thrown around the forums without clear use.
I think the quote shows a misconception of the ranger regarding bows. You wont pick up a bow to deal sustained damage. You want to pick up a bow to stop an enemy before he can reach you. That would be possible with burst, especially if you get the drop on somebody (speaking of Opening Strike).

I still want to play an archer and still I get hindered.
That is more of a total game design issue where the developers designed the entire game to work around the sPvP system of maps with 5v5 being the ideal situation so we get PbAoE buffs and the stack on one spot being the safest option. Kind of destroys risk vs reward there.
That’s the reason why I’ve suggested among other things, that bows should get a damageboost if you hit someone from above, rewarding you for your positional play.

I’ve created my ranger expecting an archer.
Was this because of just the profession’s flavor text? Or because of some other game’s idea of what a ‘Ranger’ is? Please don’t say it was because Ranger has the ‘range’ as the first five letters.
Maybe because I’ve always wanted to play an Archer in MMOs and maybe because I’ve created the ranger 2 day after I bought the game?
I didn’t know what the classes where about but the ranger looked like an archer to me.
So yeah, because of the text. I still want to play an archer and still I get hindered.

If you don’t want a pet out all the time, then you should pick a class that isn’t a Ranger. If you would like to have a pet out all the time, but find that this isn’t ideal because they die too often, or confuse agro in parties, or other such reasons, then the solution is to fix those problems.
I’ve created my ranger expecting an archer. Yet the bows are pretty weak and useless in any coordinated group. Furthermore I’ve gotten a pet which I don’t care about, since I wanted to play an archer. So my damage gets not only reduced because of my pet has to attack the enemy as well, but gets nullified if my pet dies to its dump AI.

PvE
Shouts update
Shouts in general dont do enough.
- Search and Rescue has great functionality, but i often end up sacrificing my pet and utility cd to aoes without getting a rez
- Guard and Protect Me are blatantly underpowered and need reworks
- Sic’ Em is situational, but using it as a preventative measure is weak and allowing it to be a countermeasure would give it a much nicer niche
- RaO and HaO have effects similar to what id expect from a shout, but they dont have a traitable classification
“Search and Rescue”
I do like this skill in higher FotMs, however I just want to use it when I’m unable to revive my mate myself, due to heavy AoEs, etc.
Unfortunately those AoEs are as deadly for my pet as they are for me.
Therefore this skill remains most time unused.
Suggestion:
- Pet should be invulnerable or
- Pet should get a massive healthboost or atleast
- Pet should gain protection, regen and swiftness (and aegis) while reviving
- Cooldown should be cut by half if the pet can’t revive someone
- Give the skill a small range, so the pet can revive someone even if it can’t stand directly upon the downed player
“Guard”
This skill is unused for 99,9% of the time in GW2 (I honestly never saw someone using this skill).
Therefore I want to change it into a taunt, which causes all enemies in the area to autoattack the pet.
This would allow some sort of agressive tanking and makes the ranger more durable.
Suggestion:
- Introduce a new condition named “Taunt”, which will force all enemies affected to slowly run towards the user and autoattack him.
- “Guard” (should be renamed) will cause the pet to taunt nearby enemies for a long duration (~5 secs or so)
- Pet gains Protection, Retaliation and Regeneration for the duration of the taunt
In PvE this effect would still persist after the condition runs out. An exeption would be made for champs or elites.
As example: Whoever drawed aggro before, if you’re using the taunt, all enemies affected will target your pet. They will still target your pet after the taunt runs out, until the enviroment changes (New player joins the fight, new mobs spawn, etc.).
“Sic ’Em”
While the boons for your pet are quite nice, the shout could use more durability in WvW.
Suggestion:
- Activating “Sic ’Em” without a target will cause your pet to follow a stealthed player, if there are any in range.
- (OPTIONAL: And reveals him (OPTIONAL: When the pet hits the target))
- (OPTIONAL: Or the pet will reveal all stealthed players in an area)
- The pet should also “highlight” the target for the duration, which causes all arrows shot at the target to hit as long as the target isn’t out of range or stealthed.
“Protect Me”
Same as “Guard”, I never saw someone using it. Therefore I want to change up the behaviour. The new shout should focus around exchanging boons/conditions with your pet while having a relative low cooldown to on the one hand address the condition removing issue the ranger have amd on the other hand give the superior rune of the soldier some use.
Suggestion:
- Short cooldown (max. 20secs)
- Pet gives its boons to the ranger upon activation
- Pet takes all conditions off the ranger
This suggestion might be too powerful, but it should fokus around condition trading/cleansing and have a low cooldown. Another idea would be, that the pet just takes all conditions or that the pet cleanses all conditions from both the ranger and the pet.
“Ramapage as One”
RaO should be turned into a shout keeping all current stats, so that RaO can benefit from traits and runes aswell. (this suggestion was borrowed from Erro.2784)
Suggestion:
- Turn Rampage as One into a shout
“Heal as One”
HaO is pretty useless right now and only used if you need on-demand healing.
So my idea is to rework HaO the same way I want to rework RaO. Turn it into a shout, which lasts a couple of seconds and gives defensive boons and heal/conditionremove on hit. (this suggestion was borrowed from Soilder.3607)
Suggestion:
- Turn Heal as One into a shout
- While active it gives regeneration, protection and retaliation
- While active both ranger and pet get healed on hit
- (OPTIONAL: cures conditions on hit)
- (OPTIONAL: revives the pet in the beginning)
If Troll Unguent gets reworked to a warrior Healing Signet 2.0, as proposed in other threads, the active of TU could acquire the position of on-demand healing. So HaO could be reworked according to my suggestions without loosing any diversity.

Spirit updates
I think the spirits should have somewhat better passive effects for the ranger who summoned them. Therewith spirits will get a new, distinguished role. While warrior banners would be still all about groupsupport, ranger spirits would not just offer buffs to the group but also even stronger buffs to the summoner. This change would underline the general direction I want the ranger to evolve: Beeing a lone wolf, with great selfbuff potential but, unlike the warrior, smaller teambuffs.

Pet update
This aspect is crucial for a class, which relies on it’s pet to deal max. damage.
If ArenaNet manages to switch the AI engine to the client,
I would like to see this happen:
If you’ve played FF12, you may remember the gambitsystem.
Thats exactly how I want to control my pet.
For those who don’t know what I mean:
The gambits where an easy and fast way to “programm” the AI of your characters.
They are arranged according to their hierarchy.
As example: The first instruction (gambit) will be executed as long as the requirement is given (e.g. “retreat when below 20% HP”). If the requirement is not given, the second instruction will be executed as long as its requirement is given (e.g. “attack nearest foe”). So you can not only control how your pet will behave in certain situations but also remap your F1-F3 keys.
However, if ArenaNet can’t fix the AI issues,
the damage component of the pet should be removed. I want to play an archer, I don’t care about the pet that much.

Noone has aver talked about the torch. Why? Because noone uses it.
This doesn’t have to mean the torch is bad, it just means that there are much more vialbe offhand weapons. This wont change. Therefore my suggestion is:
Make the torch to a mainhand weapon.
Torch #1:
Simply like every other autoattackchain.
It could inflict burning, though.
Torch #2:
I’ve got two ideas so far:
Either you hit one enemy which will cause him to stack burning like warrior sword #4 stacks tornment and leave a firetrail
or this attack will be an explofinisher.
Torch #3:
This one will be a firefield wich either stacks burning or deals a flat amount of damage to enemies within the radius.
The Warhorn is one of the more usefull weapons of the ranger, yet it could be better.
So here are my suggestions:
Warhorn #4:
Applies additional blind per hit.
(OPTIONAL: could be also turned into an Explosion Finisher)
Warhorn #5:
Should give 3 stacks might. Durration should be 1/3 shorter, cooldown should be 1/2 shorter.
The Greatsword has an acceptable damageoutput and kitingability. However, it could still use some tweaks to get on the same level damagewise as the sword is currently .
So here are my suggestions:
Greatsword #1-3:
Should hit 5 instead of 3 targets at the same time. I mean, wtf, it’s a Greatsword.
Greatsword #3:
It was suggested in an earlier CDI thread that the evade from GS #1 should be moved to GS #3. However, there are different opinions about this:
Pros:
- On-demand evade
- Autoattack chain could be quickened to increase the damageoutput
Cons:
- GS #3 already serves as closeup/getaway. You had to decide if you want to use Swoop either to evade or to stick to/flee from your target.
Greatsword #4
Should be tweaked, so your character will block until either the skill expires after 3 seconds or you activate the skill a second time after you blocked an attack to knock the enemy back. No more autoknockback, which could root you unintentionally while performing the animation.
The shortbow is a weapon prioritized on kiting and susateined damage.
However the weapon got some PvP related hits.
So here are my suggestions:
Shortbow #1:
Bleeding should be always applied.
Damage should be reverted to the initial amount.
Shortbow #2-5:
I am fine with the skills but it would be nice if they would deal more damage than the autoattack.
Traitlines
“Eagle Eye” should also apply to the shortbow giving him 1200 range and +5% damage.
“Piercing Arrows” should also increase the chance of physical projectile combo finisher to 40% (or higher).

Weapon updates
The most weapons of the ranger aren’t really satisfying damagewise. The sword reaches the highest dps by far. However the sword gets hindered by its clunky playstyle. My suggestions aim towards smoothing the gameplay of the sword and strenghen the other weapons.
Detailed version:
General suggestion
- Increase damage of the most weaponskills by 3% – 10% (exept sword, greatsword #2)
- Give ranged weapons a damagebonus if they hit their target from above
- All skills who are currently rooting you while channeling should be changed, so you can slowly move while channeling
The sword is a very mobile weapon with 4 leaps and 1 evade on 3 attacks.
However the gameplay feels very clunky due to the long cast-/aftercast times and the uninterruptible leaps on the autoattack chain.
I want to keep the mobility of this weapon but also make all of its skills on demand.
So here are my suggestions:
Sword #1:
Remove the leaps on the 2. and 3. autoattack and replace it with some thing else.
I don’t want to have a simple 3hit combo, but I don’t know what would fit to the kit – room for suggestions!
Sword #2:
Hornet Sting is neither instant nor predictable where you will land in the heat of battle.
I would rework this to a double leap, same as the 2. and 3. autoattack now is, which cripples your enemy if you hit him and turns into a tripple leap if you hit an enemy once. This skill would get a long uptime of 10 seconds, so you don’t have to leap immediately after your first leap to use all your charges, and a mediocre long cooldown of 20 seconds, starting after the first leap.
Sword #3:
Serpent’s Strike got an evade and is an instant ability, which is both nice. However the animation is too long. So either the evade time has to increase to match the animation time or the animation time has to be cut to match the evade time.
Alternatively, the animation could be changed, so you wont dodge around your target but through your target, just like a normal dodgeroll.
The axe is a short range ranged weapon which can do lots of things but outshines no other weapon. It got a pull, a reflect, a slow, pseudo AoE and lots of finishers.
However the damage is rather pitiful.
So here are my suggestions:
Axe #1:
Change the autoattack to melee with higher damage output
Axe #2:
Combine old Axe #2 and #4, so you got an AoE pull which pulls all enemies hit.
Axe #3:
I’m kinda ok with this attack.
Axe #4:
This will be the old axe #1. So you can choose between melee and ranged attacks.
Axe #5:
It’s ok, but it could be stronger. The reflected damage could be doubled, the cooldown lowered or the range increased.
If you don’t like the suggstion of the mainhand melee axe, you could switch axe #1 and axe #4.
The Longbow has one of the longest ranges ingame but due to the damageloss of the pet and the range combined with the fact that most classes in PvP or WvW can simply blink to you, the weapon is nearly useless.
My suggestions are focussed around durability, so you can atleast hold your distance to your target.
Longbow #1:
This should be an attackchain like any other melee weapon autoattack.
The 3. attack should cripple your enemy, so you can maintain your distance.
Longbow #2:
Should be a channeling shot. As longer you channel, as further the arrow flies, as more damgae it deals and roots or knockbacks the enemy.
Longbow #3:
This needs a massive damage increase. Since stealth is pretty useless in PvE and the damage is below the weakest autoattack, there is no point where you want to press 3.
It should also apply Revealed.
Longbow #4:
I’m debating wether it should be a root or a knockback.
The knockback is a nice way to get rid of defiant stacks. However the root would synergise more with other weapons. Should have the opposite effect of the LB #2.
Longbow #5:
This attack is ok but it would be nice if you could cast it while running.
Another nice idea is that you can cast barrage without groundtargeting, so you can shoot it over walls in WvW.
Traitlines
“Piercing Arrows” should also increase the chance of physical projectile combo finisher to 40% (or higher).
I didn’t meant to remove the groundtargeting on Barrage but adding the possibility to use this skill without groundtargeting.
As example: If you hold your right mousebutton, your character will face and shoot in the direction your camera is facing. So if your looking in a 45° angle upwards, your barrage will go down at the maximum range. If you looking straight up, you will cast barrage upon you.

Reward update proposal
The current fractal rewards aren’t satisfying compared to the dungeon rewards.
Goal of proposal
- Increase the amount of reward obtained in fractals
- Lower the inducements for griefers
Prposal functionality
- Increase the amount of reward obtained per level
- Reward should depend on fractals finished
- Reward should depend on monsters killed
- Reward should depend on the fractals your teammates have finished
- Reward should depend on the fractal difficulty (from swamp – easy- to dredge – hard -)

Depends on what hotizontal progression we’re talking about. If they just add 30 new armorskins, I would be happy but I wont call that progression by any means.

okay in real i think only ranked pvp players and experienced wvw commanders should have the right to discuss about balqnce suggestions instead of players who have less knowledge about balance.
I’m totally agaist this. I’ve played over 1500h on my ranger, thus I would call me relatively experienced. However I’ve played not a singel PvP match so far and I’ve never took the lead in WvW. So I can only say by rumors that the ranger is good in PvP and useless in WvW. However I can say that in PvE the ranger performs underwhelming but not completely useless.
And according to your proposal I should not be heard because I’m not matching your beliefs of an experienced player?

I have no problem with the levelcap beeing raised. However I do habe aproblem with the resulting grind to the new max. gear.
I have created 8 characters with a special armor or weapon in mind they would get.
This mindset turns the grind to lvl 80 to a painful issue and it’s getting even worse with the maps beeing boring if you have to complete them over and over again (I want my characters to have the map completed).
So if ANet just raises the levelcap to 100, I’ll be really kittened.
However, ANet could do some things to prevent the raise to become grindy.
One way would be to introduce armorpieces, which would adapt to the level you are. So if you’re lvl60, your armor would have lvl60 stats and if you’re lvl100, your armor would have lvl100 stats.

Warrior gives up the most advantage by far out of any class to be able to scrape out max DPS. The best a warrior can do is drop mace (sacrificing 5% damage and a bit of vuln) for warhorn or shield, and drop FGJ for a stun break or a condi cleanse at the cost of 3 stacks of might and 33% fury. Any more than that and you’re not really DPS anymore.
I dunno how you play but in PvE, which we’re talking about, I’ve done every content with the standart berserker build whithout any problem. I had no problem on my guard either, but it was painfully slower.

This is the code they added when the game released. It is trying to identify and avoid botting. Basically, if you act very much with same acts in a long time, the system would identify as “botting”, and reduce everything you would get, including karma, gold, loots, ect. The solution of it is, only, just go somewhere else, and do other stuffs, such as do a dungeon, and then get back, if you really ant to farm those. Also, beware use more skills and dodge movements while farming, this would help system identify you not as botting.
It identifies “botters” based on the area you’re in. So if you stay 30 minutes in LA, you will get hit by DR. This is pretty ridiculous in view of the fact that you have to stay 1 hour in LA.

For all those that think warrior is the most popular, your wrong. That url is to a survey done by gamestatistics.fr and if you scroll down towards the bottom you can see the class percentages. The most played is guardian at 18% and tied for second place are warrior and elementalist.

That survey is far from representive. They’ve asked 6500 Players, which is a minority of the playerbase of GW2. So you can’t argue at all upon this survey.

Warrior by a mile. They have been the most played class the last time we got numbers and they only got stronger. No reason to play anything else beside a warrior, unless you get bored.
Oh look, another typical player who thinks Warrior is the best at anything.
Warriors are only useful until both Banner of Discipline and Strength are taken. After that, either pick up more reflections, or a higher damage profession.
But @OP, Warrior is the most used class for the wrong belief they are the best damage (they are not, Thief, Mesmer, Ele and even Guardian are all higher in PvE).

Which is warrior. Which is the best PVE profession. Which is why you have so many of them. Which is why I posted it.
Let’s look what a base warrior offers:
Highest HP
Highest toughness
Highest armor
Highest mobility
Highest damage
Highest condition removal
Highest weapon swap time
Highest healing without even healingAll at the same time.
It is hard to fail in PvE as a warrior.
Fixed that for you.
Check your facts before you spout nonsense.
Oh yeah, if we’re already comparing:
Ele can get higher dps giving up any other advantage.
Guard can reach higher dps but only in bursts and giving up all their toughness.
Mesmer can reach higher dps but only in 1v1 situations in PvP.
Thief can get higher dps giving up any other advantages (same as ele).
So yeah, warrior may not reach the highest dps but compared with their toughness, their healthpool, their conditioncleansing and all the other stuff, the outshine every other class by far.

The things I’m going to contribute are shout suggestions, weapon suggestions, some outlining suggestions about the pet and some traps and the role of the ranger as archer and his role in a pseudo trinity.

I cannot for the life of me understand why so many people are hating on G+. And actually when I think about it I have never read a valid reason either – never happened to me to see someone say “Arghh I hate G+ because they’ve done this thing so bad I can’t wrap my head around it.” It just seems that every1 is raging about being forced to use it( which I can understand ) but no1 actually seems to try to use it for more than 2 minutes. Idk if you ask me G+ is far better than the other social sites like Facebook, it’s much more user-friendly and I love using it.
I hate it because they kitten YouTube for pushing G+.

Because melee is always going to be better than ranged and our only other melee weapon makes combining raw DPS and dodging/kiting impossible because it roots you on the autoattack. GS looks good because we have no other alternatives, not because it actually is good. Try the GS on the warrior or Guardian and you’ll see what a “good” GS feels like.
Guardian GS isn’t as good as ranger GS imo.
I also agree on the stow pet thing…it would give us a chance to be more useful in situations where the pet dies too easily. Maybe put a timer on it so we can’t switch too often ?I nearly spit my coffee on my monitor when I read this. What exactly is better about Ranger GS than guardian????? Guardian is nearly attached to its GS its so useful
Rangers are pretty attached to GS too for the same reason of useful. You have our only constant source of cleave, our strongest hitting weapon skill, a mobility skill, and our only block skill.
Er, I think those Rangers are attached to GS because they hate the sword AA?
That’s exactly the reason I’m using the GS.
The evade is pretty nice tho.

That’s the reason no company in the world wants to say what the maybe doing next. Because everything will be taken seriously and gets demanded if not released after the announcement.
sometimes you, as a company just have to commit to dates, and be held responsible if you miss said date. Cant always say nothing in fear of people expecting things
There are way more important things to do than adding a precursor hunt. Fixing the balance as example. I’m happy with them starting the CDI threads now. In fact, I’m way more happy about the CDI threads than I would be about a precursor hunt, not to mention the fact that the precursor hunt would also turn into a grindfest.

We are playing a fantasy genre mmorpg and you have concerns for realism, please just get out now as realism isn’t going to be a part of the design.
It is so far realistic that it doesn’t bent the physics too much. Water still floating downhill, Arrows still get blocked by obstacles. But they don’t get blocked by someone screaming at them.

The weakness of the warrior used to be no access to defensive boons or high conditionremoval. Thanks to the updates and his high basehealth and -armor, those weaknesses are gone and there had not been any comprehensions for that. Thus, the warrior is overperforming right now.

Maybe it’s the axe autoattack that needs nerfing more than cyclone needs fixing?
Warriors are flat out kittened. The warrior offhand axe skill 5 still does about double the damage of a ranger’s whirling defense, you can move while doing so, and in fact if anything most warrior weapons except for mace need damage nerfs considering how far above everybody else their damage is.
No class except the thief can do the sustained damage of a warrior, and warriors are the one class that gets away with playing in knights gear.
Warriors have nothing to complain about. Have you SEEN the offhand axe Ranger skill 5? Thought not. Also, damage-buffing Warriors, whether it would make them OP or not (even though every other profession knows warriors are OP anyway) should be the last thing on the devs’ priorities list right now.
Ranger axe 5 is actually one of the best skills ranger has, considering the massive amount of utility on top of the damage it deals.

MASSIVE UTILITY INDEED. THAT’S WHY SO MANY POWER RANGERS ARE AROUND.
That’s exactly what we need. Nerfing one thing to make another look appealing. And just like thief almost everything in a warriors kit is built around doing damage, it’s what the class was built for. We don’t have great boons, or aoe, or illusions, or stealth. We hit things and that’s about it.
Thank god you’re not in charge of anything important. Once again, what other classes have or do not have is completely irrelevant to this topic.
Warriors don’t have boons? What a load of crap. With the signet elite you pretty much have perma fury/might stacks and high uptime on swiftness,. Warrior has the most ready access to the offensive boons.
Damage is the most valuable asset a class can bring in a game with no trinity, so DUH the two classes with the best damage skills are going to govern.

P.S. Warrior isn’t even the strongest class as far as dps goes. At least 1/4 the classes in the game do it better.
This argument again. Yes a guard can burst more than a warrior can, yes a mesmer may have better 1v1 damage in PvP and yes, ther may be a built for elementalists that outdamages the warrior. Yet all those builds are highly situational and the warrior is still the best class to maintain a high sustained dps while eating a crap ton of damage.
And yeah, lets give the warrior protection so he can still deal as much damage as he is doing right now and tanking even more. Cool idea. I can really see the point behind this. Not.

The reflection radius is 90 units, that’s too small to be effective. A projectile AoE landing next to you will hit you. Retaliation is bad and it’s dps is laughable. And the self root is … no! The only good it’s for is a bit of lulz againts Mai (Though GS is better, straight up block it). If the radius was larger (untraited) then yeah it could be useful, as it it now not so much.
So much this! If this is the most usefull skill the ranger has to deliver, you may also delete the class entirely.
PS: First time I used this skill against mai, it made me laugh so hard that I got killed

I at least exclude the word “think” from my statements and have fundamental rules written out regarding how GW2 combat is optimized.
Ok. To put it simple, just for you:
I do want to play ArenaNet’s game. I do not want to play your game.
Those people, hundreds of programmers, designers and others, where sitting there, for I don’t even know how long they developed GW2, and tried to figure out a balance, which they thought would turn out healthy. And now you come along and try to convince us, that you can deliver the ultimate balanced game.
I don’t think so. At the end all ends up in opinions, that’s the reason why this game gets called unbalaced. Because the majority of players thinks differently about this game as the devs do.

that would leave rangers without any mechanic and pretty much a gray area between thief and warrior, what would replace pets if they got rid of them? or what should? a while back we discussed and preparations we felt was a good option… make suggestions on things to replace if you would rather it be removed
That would leave ranger as archers, which I would completely fine with, if they’re effective.

Whats stopping you from playing any other class the way you want? You seem to have set up for yourself a definition of whats good and what isn’t and that’s your own problem.

And it would not become a 1 hit kill instagib fest. Because warrior can’t do that now. Unless you’re trying to say they can?
They are indeed able to wreck opponents very fast.
While 1hit kill might be hyperbolic, you would still end up in a meta in which one mistake can kill you.
