4 is the most important, and will tell you everything you need to know about where to be. Map feigning is a game within a game in wvw, and the most successful realms are the ones who play that game most effectivly.
1. Find out if the server you are on has a wvw voice server. Join it.
2. Advertise in wvw for a group, say you are looking for a wvw guild.
3. Identify good commanders or leaders and follow thier instructions.
4. look at the map. Think about the map. Think about what your opponant’s next objective might be. Go there.
5. Watch the contested supply camps. Watch the score tally timer. At about 5 minutes till score talley, beat feet to a supply camp held by your realm.
6. Escort dolyaks.
7. If your realm flips a tower, head there, set up siege and wait a few minutes. Newly flipped towers are ripe fruit for any opposing zerg.

SoR needs more competent commanders. Some commanders don’t even know how to ninja a keep or tower, or that you can portal golems across the map instead of walking them for a half hour. Some commanders didn’t even know that siege weapons don’t have an AOE camp and let us turtle in the lords room of the garrison until we wiped (lol?). No offense but SoR is severely lacking in leadership.
I’m just dissapointed in SoR overall
I’ll be honest, I don’t mind 2v1 or being outnumbered or any other excuses people love to cry about because it’s all part of the game but i have an honest question to Sanctum of Rall
when was the last time you actually attacked a Sea of Sorrows objective? o_O (2 supply camps don’t count and I have actually been counting the past 3 hours)
I’ll be more specific.. today we had a guild event where we went to SoS BL with the objective of flipping every single SoS objective there was.. and we did.. to a certain point. (Lake, Hills, Garrison, and basically claiming everything we can)
then SoR en masse attacked IoJ’s objectives.. instead of pushing NORTH they instead pushed East
are we at the point that people only see “fresh flip” means “easy take” so attack fresh flipped objectives to try and get cheap points??
because what happened for the next 3 hours is simply us wiping SoR as they try to take the objectives we just flipped from SoS
this is not winning or 2v1.. it’s worse, much worse. it’s playing hoping to get cheap points
I actually am a bit envious of SoS’ position right now
no, not the driver’s seat.. not outnumbering and having more coverage than both sor+ioj combined but there must be a certain relaxing quality, a zen like state when you’re in the lead position and you know only 1 server attacks you and the other server is too busy attacking that other server
anyhows, i guess i’m just dissapointed that wuvwuv’s “fun” has evolved not in seeking and enjoying fights anymore but rather hoping and trying to get cheap points.
Sanctum of Rall one day, I hope you realize, going after “freshly flipped” objectives isn’t that smart. Specially when you fail to take it and all you do is make sure the leading server gets even more comfortable
can’t play afraid in this game
eventually, you gonna have to attack the server on top
I don’t know where you are fighting, but we do it all the time in sor bl.
Yeah lets call everyone stupid on the forums, tell them they’re being outplayed! Tell them they’re all doing it wrong!, That’s sure to attract a steady night crew!
Ok how does this appeal to your sensibilities,
Everyone is doing just fine. It is great stradegy to trade a tower for a keep, even if you can’t take the tower either. The only reason why we are losing to sos and ioj is because they have more people than us, even though we have queues in sor bl.
Look, don’t worry about the 5 guys sniping our yaks, it is much more important to zerg down those 3 pve’ers out there trying to get vista’s. You guys are awsome!
What would have been epic, was around the 8 minute mark….you had stopped to harvest that tree
Silvannas, you and I play during the same times and our paths have crossed before. I don’t need to explain to you what it’s like playing against Sea of Sorrows in the early AM hours but I would like an explanation from you as to why you find it to be enjoyable…
They steamroll us the entire night during Oceanic prime, pushing us right back to our citadel where we pretty much stay until the early morning when more Americans start to log on. Once we finally have the numbers to push back, all of SoS just logs off and we PvDoor the rest of the morning.
I don’t find that to be even the least bit fun, hence the reason I and a few friends have transferred off for the week. We love the community on SoR and I feel a bit ashamed and remorseful for abandoning you guys for the week. But I’d much rather fight a 10v10 battle than fight a series of 10v30 battles until 8 AM EST when it instantly becomes a 30v0 battle.
We have been holding our own in sor bg. I would be lying though, if I said we didn’t miss those folks who have moved to other servers. You have missed some really epic fights, like our supply camp defense earlier tonight. It was a battle of epic proportion.
If you love wvw, i can not understand why you wouldn’t think beating the odds was fun. Glad you are having a good time though, we will try and hold down the fort until you get back.
Sos , Ioj.
Thank you for the fights.
I never would think of doing this. when I go down, i am too busy cursing myself for losing to think about anything but how I will handle the next fight.
most repeated exclaimation in wvw…..Ok that was dumb…..:p
second most repeated exclaimation in wvw… kitten mesmers!
I guess they figure, by the time you are at the end of your story, you have probably made a couple friends here and there.
Why create a game mechanic like this, when you should be considering whether or not you can keep the tower once you take it in your strat.
There should not be artificial benefits for a server that can not field enough people to be competitive. They should just lose rank until they are matched up more evenly. The outmanned buff should be enough.
It would take a whole heck of a lot of incentive to get people to go into wvw if their server sucks, or they don’t like pvp. Then if you did put this incentive in, the regular players would be on the forums complaining about queue’s and how carebears are taking wvw over so they can pve.
the only incentive that will ever work for wvw, is to get better and start winning.
Sounds like someone is a wee bit better than you and your friends.
look at thier messages they start with 4 random letters and end with 4 random letters, so they are not picked up as spam.
I’m trying. Really really trying.
I played star trek online , and the roleplayers all hung out at quarks or whatever on ds9. That was the funniest stuff i ever sat and listened to in my life. I never interfeared or tried to grief, but it was quite entertaining just to sit and listen. many a chuckle ensued in my office during those sessions.
Why does everyone want everything to be easy? Work hard for it and you might actually enjoy the fact that when you have it you feel like you achieved something.
I have farmed atleast 1000 badges in a month of WvW. I’m still farming and don’t mind it at all, I don’t even want the set though…
Work should never be used to describe an activity in a game.
Towers are designed to be bumps in the road to a zerg, nothing more. The more i play wvw the more I realize that by design , fortifications were made to be flipped constantly.
I am actually fairly certian I have missed more badges than I have picked up in my time WvW’ing. It’s just the way it is.
Why not just take the camp, and strip the supply.
S0 i was using an orichalcum axe on a cypress spawn, and it gave me 1 cypress and 2 ruined logs. This has happened before to me on omnom berry spawns. is there an inate chance for even orichalcum tools to fail?
people have pretty much settled into what they have decided to do end game. Alt-aholics seem to be in short supply as opposed to other games, more in likely due to the limited character slots, and need to use them as mules because of the limited banking slots. Leveling a character now tends to be a very lonely proposition, unless you do in in wvw.
Once you are max level though, there are a lot of people around.
I couldn’t wait for it to be over. I do miss the quaggan pirate though.
Badges of honor, account bound siege, and grey vendor fodder should be all that drops from anything in wvw. Then the bots would disappear and the queues would be much shorter.
Golems are fodder if caught out in the open. Gates and walls upgrade fine. I have seen sieges last hours when the defenders know what they are doing. Waypoints being able to be contested allows for more stradegy to be employed. All these things you have asked to be changed are fine IMO.
