Don’t get me wrong…I’ve had a great time playing with Yaks going on 4 weeks now…. but I would really love to see if TC can take on the guys in Tier 2. I’m also sure Yaks and FA would love a chance of taking on someone new instead wondering which one of them will come in second this week :P
JK YB and FA
When sor was tier 3 they completly locked down the tier. It was never even close. Go look at the archive.
Just the way it is.
So the guy said he didn’t cheat. You say he did. no one has proof of anything. I am certianly glad you guys are not judges or police.
Am I reading this correctly? You guys are upset about achievement points?
You have got to be kidding me.
Good luck everyone. Have fun.
WvW is part of pve. Makes perfect sense to include it in map completion.
Just to make the picture clear for everyone since i noticed that not everyone is getting the point :
If enemy attackers build a siege you can go out and kill it with player attack but if defenders build a siege on top of unreachable supply depot from outside player attacks something is wrong since rest of the siege weapons are placed on the walls which make them attackable like the weapons attackers deploy outside when attacking and vulnerable to player attacks and thats why defended.
keywords : Reachable and Unreachable.
There are a lot of places in towers and keeps that are unreachable until you breech. Are you seriously suggesting that all areas of every keep, castle or tower should be reachable by enemy aoe from the outside?
I made the move from SoR to IoJ and I am very happy with it. It’s like night and day. Commanders are in the thick of it with you instead of just standing back pointing at where to go and what to do.
Anyone who decides to come on over will not be disappointed. Come have fun again in WvW. Come to Isle of Janthir.
Looks like SoS is taking it to the bank again this week.
Well done.
Ioj is the server that would most benefit from your expertise. We are weak in n/a primetime, and your guild would make a difference that would be appriciated, and honored.
Gw2 have only one god thing and that is the lvling form 1 to 80 the rest of the game is a poor game
I disagree. I really enjoy WvW.
again! Really Blackgate? Have you no honor at all?
Dreaming Bay hacked into again at 12:15 server time 28/11/2012This is getting really annoying.
Now now, you really cant say that every keep take was achieved via hacking…. Do you know that you did a 100% sweep on the inner keep ? Because im sure that you didnt.
Throwing wild accusations around just shows you in bad light
No we can’t. what we can say is “we don’t know for sure” and that is enough to taint blackgates lead. The proof is there for all to see. Make of it what you will.

It’s what they do. The rest of us have to find a way to deal with it. they want to win, and they will do whatever it takes. It’s just the way it is.
The fact that et and hod are even out there fighting speaks volumes about thier character.
What I do is look at the swords. Look at the possible waypoints for people who have died and are respawning. Choose the most direct route between the two, because people tend to want to get back to the action as fast as thier legs can carry them. Set up ambushes along this route.
It is rare that people will wait at a spawn point for backup.
If you are bg or ioj , find caedas, they usually run in small groups and they are extremely good players as a whole. You want a test, they are a good place to start.
Dolyaks. They get escorted quite often by 2-5 players. This is a good place to find small scale fights. If no one is escorting, keep killing them. someone will show up, and it usually will not be a zerg.
Far north supply camp. On the BL maps this is the most heavily guarded supply camp, as it supplies the gateway to the realms foothold area. You often have 5-10 players there, usually with siege.
Bait and engage tactic. Send 1 or two players toward a tower that has a few defenders. lure them out to your group. Engage away from siege. Players love to outnumber opponants. fool them.
just like in daoc, do not camp an area. The zerg will come take you out. If they have to constantly assess where you are, they will only send contingents to try and deal with you, as the zerg is used to take and defend points.
Scouting is key. Keep a thief out to watch for incoming zergs, they are easy enough to avoid.
Trail and kill. I have run with a faily large guild in wvw, and thier organization can work against the pugs that choose to follow them. They will usually ignore a small group that is trailing them on thier way to an objective. Pugs that do not have the luxury to be on thier voice coms will often stop to engage. The main zerg most always will be told to keep on task and not engage.
I would also like to state that I use pugs to describe a player that mostly plays by themself or in a small group, and is not part of a large guild. This does not in any way mean they are unskilled , or easy targets.
TLDR: there are many ways to fight in a small group. you just have to understand some of the ways wvw works, and learn the habits of the zerg.
Irongut.
Par for the course in any message board. Also more prevelant in a medium where competition is at the core of the design.
once the cap restriction is patched in, and the culling issues resolved, thieves will be fixed imo. No need to nerf abilities.
There is a guy you can talk to as soon as you enter orr. He advises you that it is best done in a group. That should tell you something.
Hahaha this topic made me smile
I would like a mini pet Asura for xmas this year – they are adorable, so imagine what a mini-pet version would be like! <3
I was in gendarran fields for guild assignment for wvw and this person asked for help with the etten skill point. Normally I would not have gone, but this person named thier toon Miss Adorable, when i got there it was asura. How can you say no to an Asura named Miss Adorable?
A Quaggan Mini
A second Quaggan Mini
A free hat, obviouzly
Some quaggan plushy
A GW2 expansion
A Golem grinding for me
Ascended Gears removed
and… uhm… a third Quaggan Mini?
Quaggan pirate mini! me likey.
Being from SoR and fighting against TC, I will say that you will probably have quite a bit of fun there, if you enjoy RP, and aren’t afraid to go toe to toe with another server on the battlefield.
Now if they only allowed people to sit down in chairs :p
Oh geeze, an asura toy maker….i hope my posable Kir skagalkin action figure doesn’t blow up in my face.
They explained this already.
judging from the past, I would say some items will be found in bl chests.
A lot of people have asked for this, I am glad they added it. Hope they make a ton of cash off of it. It is often the small things that make the biggest difference.
I get obstructed when fireing at a gate in wvw.
If it makes you feel better, and you would like to be truly convinced, it was never arena nets intention to release ascended gear exclusive to one dungeon. It has also been confirmed in the Chris Whitside AMA that it sure as hell won’t stay this way.
Who’s intention was it?
It would be nice never to miss a bag.
Hey I am from IOJ (ND). Just out of curiosity, can I ask why SoR loves Pangloss when they should not get it…? I mean they always try to steal it from us when they should get other towers or supplies. I would understand if it is strategically right but.. I think they always just want it for the sake of getting it.
Zergs use supply camps to fill up on supply on the fly. that is why they normally just hit it, drain it, and leave.
My position is the exact reverse of yours. I’m an intense WvWer, got my 500 badges before I even reached level 80. For most of the part, being out-manned actually made obtaining badges even easier, and being in a low pop server was no deterrent at all. Now I’m hitting my head against the wall completing dungeons and trying to get map completion, which I just find completely boring. I’m being forced to waste time in low level areas which I have absolutely no interest in exploring.
However, the requirements for the legendary makes sense – this is a major end content reward, a long term goal you aspire to by mastering the entire game. It’s a simple skin, no one’s forcing you to get it and you won’t be worse off without it, but attaining it is a symbol of your awesomeness and it therefore has to reflect that in terms of its requirements.
I feel your pain. You enjoy the PvP. I do not disagree. You should not be forced to play my preferred PvE play style no more than I should be forced to yours. There should be distinct Legendary PvP and PvE gear. DCUO did this correctly in my opinion.
Lets stop acting as if this is anything more than grinding. There is nothing about the game play that makes these items so legendary in my actions. I already pointed out the easy workaround. Joining the dominant side server will easily make the JPs more accessible, and farming them past that point is simple enough once you know the JP well enough.
The point is should the placement inspire this sort of actions. Should I as a player who wants the Legendary Skin have to switch server to the dominant side server, because lets face it these are lopsided battles in most instances, in order to grind for mats?
It’s just the way it is. Do it, or not. Arguing with people about it nets you zero, and costs you time. It’s not like this is the first time someone cried about having to wvw for legendaries.
Suck it up or do without. If they change the system to where it only takes pve to get a legendary, then it’s power should be reduced to show it was achieved half arsed. The only thing stopping you from achieving a legendary is your own attitude.
week isn’t over yet smokey. SoS FTW
Just don’t ever give up!!! Fight to the death!!! I just really want to see a SoS, SoR, SBI, TI matchup hehe
We don’t have the coverage for t1. That is the plain and honest truth. We have big hearts in SoR, we just don’t have enough of them.
We (SOR) had a good 20 minute fight at the tower east of IOJs spawn last night, with mostly [SPQR] defending to the last man, making the invader work for every inch.
I was there, Ioj has always been a good fight. As with any wvw player, I hate to lose a fight, but the last two weeks I have not been so effected by it, as I accept that I am facing players who are at least my equal.
I got 17 badges from that fight, and only gave up 4 at most. That is a trade off I can live with.
I admit I had my doubts, but I understand what they have tried to accomplish with the ascended gear.
I wvw, it is what I like to do. I can barely stomach pve, in any game. This does not mean I don’t recognize that there are players who feel the exact same way about wvw as I do about pve. Those players need a reason to log into the game every day as much as anyone else.
It would not suprise me if they implement a trade up type of system for ascended gear. Like an npc that will take a piece of exotic gear + a few mats in exchange for a piece of ascended of the same type and stat configuration. For instance in WvW you could trade a piece of exotic + 350 Boh + 42,000 karma to upgrade to ascended.
This type of trade up system would give wvw players a goal that is not so far away that they lose interest. The same could be done for pve dungeons 350 tokens + 42,000 karma to upgrade a piece of exotic dungeon gear. For those who love open world and De’s they could simply add a type of badge that drops from de events and then require a fair amount + karma to upgrade to ascended. For those who like to mix and match thier experiences, they could make it so combinations of badges can be used to upgrade.
This type of system allows everyone to do what they enjoy in GW2, and still be able to reach the goal of full ascended over the course of next year, without it seeming like a grind.
In summary, do what you like, get ascended gear
Is it only me, or is Chris an extremly slow chatter?! I mean, if this would be a conversation it would be over after 5 minutes, concerning the answers he has given so far in over 1 hour.
I am sure he is not alone in this. each question is chosen, the answer carefully crafted, and then delivered. This takes time.
it would be more immersive if they took out all of the land-based walls between zones, and made tyria a true map. when zoomed out in the world map, all i can see are the dark outlines of zones. i don’t know of many RL places that have such borders.
i don’t like the brown outlines of tall mountains to separate each zone. it should just be one continuous map to play in/on, to save on loading screens. these “mountain walls” also assist in immersion-loss, because if i am running from mobs, all i need to do it think, “if i can make it to the portal to the next zone, i am good”. if the walls weren’t there, it would make things more exciting.
Erm…everyone would love this but, of course, it’s not remotely feasible. The zones don’t exist for cosmetic reasons, they have to be there. No current game engine could have an immensely detailed landscape like GW2 and be one huge zone with no walls. Comps would either freeze or fry upon log-in with an entire server population in the same zone.
Vanguard did it.
Honestly, I think people like fighting more than not fighting. Even if there was an alliance, I don’t see it working for long. pvp minded people just can’t help themselves when they see red.
There are always people to catch out in the open alone or in small groups. you must think. where are they fighting? where is the nearest port they have to release to? what is the fastest way to get back to the zerg? Also you can try killing yaks, they will eventually send a small group to stop you, and then you get a good fight.
A new dungeon that gets harder as you go. 3 pieces of new gear with higher stats. a new island with some new events.
I made a warrior this weekend and got to level 20. Got no dye drops to play with at all. I had to steal money from my mains sold items in the TP to buy some dyes for it.
I don’t think it’s specfic to just dyes though. I’ve even had to start buying karma items for my warrior too because the drops were so scarce. When I first played through my main at release I was getting reasonable amounts of drops allowing me to change my armour and upgrade my weapons fairly regularly. Now it’s mostly what the Merchants themselves call junk that drops. And if you actually have junk drop from a Veteran or a Champion consider yourself lucky because I normally only have my desire to fight anymore drop after killing them.
I heard there was supposed to be a drop increase but it seems to have gone the other way. I’ll see how it goes but the the reason I’ve uninstalled and shelved Borderlands 2 now is because the drop rates in that were abysmal too
I hear tiny tina is looking for you to come to a tea party.
I can see the reason why someone would want this, but I think it would even further hamper getting groups. If you have 5 characters , and they all have to start at 1, then it widens the field for groups. Just my opinion.
You have 5 slots, my recommendation would be to play the 5 you have the most interest in up to around level 15. Start in different zones by making different races and see what tickles your fancy.
My new GW2 mantra is “It’s just the way it is”
Since the only control I have is whether I log in or not, This is what I must accept if I wish to continue playing.
Fractals is easily the most fun dungeon in the game. It also has decent rewards. However, on Tarnished Coast I still see plenty of people running story and explorable modes for previous dungeons because they want those gear tokens. Same for events in Orr to unlock karma vendors: yes, it’s happening. Could just be your server.
I’m on a server that has queue’s for LA most all the time. orr is completly contested , and has been since the opening of FoTM. Hopefully that will change in time, but as long as the best gear and the best gold is found in FoTM, I don’t see that happening.
After giving it a week of trying to get any ascended item doing both lvl 10 and lvl 20 fractals and the pure random nature of who gets the privilege to progress in the game and who is stuck in limbo forever, I’m uninstalling this game. The wow kiddies who demands Anet now listen to can have it. The fact that a daily chest is the only means to progress and the drop is not 100% is horrible design. Can’t wait to start seeing infusion items in the gem store just to keep the casuals happy and complete the transformation of this game to a F2P P2W Asian MMO. Manifesto was a lie! Is it to late to get a refund?
It’s just the way it is. Wish I had some kind of wise, mmo guru explaination, but there just isn’t one. Anet does not seem to be pushing back against refunds, unless you preordered and are beyond the 6 month mark, which is to thier credit.
Poll is already invalid because the choices are incorrect. Ascended gear=Legendaries and most of the people complaining don’t know that. They are arguing a easier step in gear because the whiners don’t know themselves
How do you know they won’t add an even higher tier?
made my day, thanks
Not saying anything bad or good about the forums, but it would have to be ingame to really get a proper accounting of attitudes.
It’s where you find it. If you go to a club, and sit off in the corner drinking you won’t be rewarded with a whole lot of social interaction.
It’s a done deal now anyway. All this arguing isn’t going to change that.
