Been there, done that! The 3 most boring zones in the game.
Oi, that is a nice video. Yeah some otherworldly element could add something to the mix.
I don’t think we need much more high level areas. We have 4 but only one of the areas is good. The other three are Orr.
And believe me color blindness isn’t the problem here. The zone doesn’t stand out much, but it is ok in my book. I think they could flesh things out a bit perhaps make some color a bit brighter, but the mob variety is really what kills it. If I would have one copper for everytime I had to hear “Everyone! COME!”, I would have a commander manual by now.
Agreed as a COMMANDER of the pact they should let me into their HQ,
Oh they will let you into their headquater, they just won’T let you back to Fort Trinity. ^^
Yeah I seriously do not see why you can’t have access to all order armors as a pact commander.
No, that was pretty much it.
I point is I like this game very much. I love the view and exploration, I like the comunity, and the dynamic event system is really fun.
But there are thing which I don’t like and on a few things I can simply say. Yeah that was content never ment for me anyway. But there are other things which I would like to look into and realize that they are simply not as good as the parts of the game I love and enjoy.
So yeah this game is amazing, that’s why I even bother to post negative feedback.
This is a great game and the areas are beautyful, but I always had this one feeling when I moved through the Ruins of Orr. This place is boring!
This is not about the difficulty and you cannot solo it. I can solo it, no problem here. But it is so much less variaty than Metrica Province for example and this zone doesn’t stand out much to me unlike Bloodtide Coast which is really awesome. I just named Metrica because I started playing an Asura.
I get it there is war and it shouldn’t be a walk in the park. But that is exactly the point everything is so repetitive that it lacks any tension. I am a bit anoyed and so bored, that once I completed Orr I never bothered to look at it again. I don’t know if that is a political statemanet tht war is boring or something, and isn’T something you want to return to, but why are there 3 zones of this kitten?
What really bugs me though, it that there is a similar area in the game which is really fun to explore: the Dragonbrand. You now the violet area where all the crystalline creatures trying to get you.
I tought for a while why I find the Dragonbrand so much more enjoyable than the Ruins of Orr and than it hit me. The Dragonbrand was embedded into Ascalon. So I would fight Flame Legion, Harpies, normal Animals and that Branded.
In Orr there are mostly Risen. There are also Inquest and the Spirits bt hey are so rare that they hardly matter. Yeah I get it I am in the eye of the storm, but that doesn’t change the fact the I hear the same stock phrases and see the same battle animations over and over and over again. The Risen are lacking variety. Put some Risen Skritt in there! Mix things up a little!
We have Thralls, Purifier, Subjugator, Corrupter, Brutes and Plaugebearer; from time to time there are Grubs and Abominations. That sounds like variaty but to be honest I couldn’t tell you the diffrence between a Corrupter and a Plaugebearer. They are so forgettable and bland. I know risen is not the most interesting theme in the world, but just google Nurgle or something and get some inspiration.
And just to make it glass clear why Orr is uninteresting. Did you ever try to get your daily kill variety archivement in Orr? Did you realize how hard this is in comparison with all other regions? You have literally a metric that tells you that this place has not enough variety!
And again it is not about difficulty. The difficulty is just fine. It is the variety or the lack thereof.

Yeah I meant do not rotate O_o
That is a very nice suggestion.
I was actually quite suprissed that the players in dungeons
A) do not have more lines
B) rotate in cutscenes so that the first 2 lines are delivered by player1 and the next one by player 3, etc.
I actually never want to play Diablo 2 again… And I also do not like the suggestion. o_O
OR they could just go the opposite way and say that you use the teleport to the mist button they charge you with the waypoint cost to lion’s arch. Same goes obviously for the WvW teleports.
But that would be just mean and not very fun. I would like to see the waypoint cost completely gone. Than I would probably start to use them… ^^
That is a very good idea, Ronah. +1!
My keyboard has some issues and sometimes it does exactly this: Doesn’t read 20% of the input!
It is quite anoying when you are discussing, but I would lovet wheI am drunk ingame. ^^
Seperate the Personal Story into 3 different concurrent lines rather than acts
Posted by: yandere.9176
I love everything! – except for the optional.
But it will probably never happen. ;_;
I have the most problems with the random silvers in the dungeon not with the boss. But anyway, great job that looks pretty funny ^^
They change up your home instance a bit but that’s it.
The more I think about. This would solve it:
1. Story mode
2. Explorable easy mode
3. Explorable hard mode
Story mode would be a easy thing that can be done with a PUG it would teach basic dungeon mechanics and teamplay and would have encounter that explains how to work together. Anyway you are here for the story anyway so the difficulty is fairly easy.
Explorable easy mode needs a full party and is probably about the current difficulty, perhaps a bit easier. This is about methodical exploration of the dungeon and fighting tough bosses.
Explorable hard mode is basiclly the same experience the easy mode just in hard… very very hard and more rewarding, of course. Here you have the challenge for all the hardcore people. You should have maxed out gear a well organized party this one is for the best of the best that they can feal archivement in their game.
I tink this covers basiclly all things which are needed and would have so much coding work. In fact the hardest thing about this suggestion is to design story mode that you are tought how to play these things. But yeah I think that would solve most problems.
Up the repair bills!
It is the only money sink that you are obligated to use and the only one I currently use.
I am ok with retraining costs but I would probably be a bit more experimental if they weren’t there.
The waypoint cost doesn’t bother me, because I stop using waypoints when I reach silver prices.
If you just slap the teleport price from the nearest teleport onto the repair bills, you will see the same money from me.
Also consumables! Interesting consumables like risen repels whioch would allow you to walk through Orr without pulling aggro of every mob you walk by.
There are a lot of money sinks in the game like WvW the waypoint costs are not an efective money sink because many people I know straight out refuse to teleport because it costs money.
I think it would be best to have free waypoint travel to all major cities, because Lion’s Arch is just always so full. I can’t remember when I was not placed on an overflow map in LA and it will never go away because it is the game hub.
Hoelbrak at least has Keg Brawl and Rata Sum will have Polymok. The Grove has the shortest waypoint cost to Orr, which I don’t use because I do not like Orr.
So most cities are just useless.
I just love the idea. I like the WvW maps but every time I do a complicated vista or a jumping puzzle instead of helping out, I feel bad for my server follows who are basiclly one man down.
I also do block a spot for those who want to do WvW. And since I like WvW myself I know how frustration this is not to be able to get even to the boraderlands and you have to query up.
An exploration mode where you just can walk around and perhaps have some dynamic events or spontaniously team up with people from other server seems great me and by the way I think stonemist castle is an awesome roleplaying spot.
The problem is that it sometimes simply bugs out.
You can sit minutes on top of a vista and can’t click it because the game desides that you are in combat, and the only solution I found for this is log in and out. This hasothing to do with balancing this. It is banlanced as it is right now… It is just bugged sometimes.
But if i had to get rid of one… For me Quaggan… i want to club them all.
But Quaggan likes you. o_O
fav playable : asura or sylvari
non-fav playable : charr
fav non-playable : largos
non-fav non-playable : grawl
eyup, that was well spend money
I would love to see those inconsistencies removed from the story. Like Sylvari can’t become corrupted but it is implied that the Priory mentor is corrupted etc.
Those are quite bothersome. But anyway EdwinLi pretty much nailed it for me. I can fully agree with that.
Your server has to claim stonemist castle once. When you got the skill point and the vist there, all things are easy because of the server rotation, you will end up being green, blue and red once in a while and have the oportunity to claim all areas usually associated with these colors. So it isn’t that bad.
The stonemist castle claim on the other hand can be pretty hard.
Largos! When there is ever a playable underwater race hopefully it is the Largos.
Can you even see this thing in WvW on player from diffrent server. I have never seen this before in WvW so I ask.
For me the main problem is that the dungeon in it self are not rewarding. You kill the last boss, and you think “That’s it”?
A huge turn off for me are that they are anvils in the dungeon and you can rally on waypoints.
When I did a raid and even some of the harder quests in DDO I got through there without death, because of methodical exploration and a team that coullearn through the game what it ment to play together. And if we got wiped by t last boss and our efferts were for nothing, well, this wasn’t really so bad, because we fought our way to the boss.
The idea that you can rally every time you want and that a stratagy to beat some encounters is to run in die, rally and run in again, kills every sense of acomplishment you could have had. I new I was so happy when I finished the dragon raid in DDO for the first time. We toke screenshots, we jumped around like crazy, we got poor loot but that wasn’t the problem it was done and you got the feeling it could be done again that’s what mattered.
The first dungeon I got though was just… Never again. I died so many times. I didn’t really got an idea how to get though this dungeon witout a single death and there were no puzzles nothing to think about it was just "Kill the next mob and the next and the… "
I had no desire to run these things again, and no reward could bring me to this.
Before you say I should go back to DDO. Well no, this game is much better, but DDO has better dungeon design. But this game is pretty backwards anyway, about usual MMO interests. I don’t like PvP and I enjoy the PvP in this game, I am the typical raider and I am really not interested in the dungeons.
I have playing an engineer by myself and I can tell you… This just happens. You deploy a turret and than you simply forget it, Most fights can be solved with spamming 1 so you explore the map, and than you realize wait my turret… Why can’t summen my turret, oh why I forgot it somewhere again.
Seriously this is not necessarly griefing.
This may sound strange, but stop playing this game.
I’ve got the same problem with half life and than I broke down infront of my computer. If you are reacting physical to a game and you can recreate this, don’t play.
Seriously it doesn’t matter how good the game is. Not worth it.
Well, to the the points.
1. I don’t play SPVP so… yeah no clue.
2. Dungeons are just frustrating. I raided in every MMO before, DDO in particular, which had an awesome dungeon design.
3. World Bosses: The greater the boss, the easier they are. And boy the big ones are boring.
4. I like my community on desolation, so yeah. This is not really a valid point for me.
The problem is that you are Sylvari, and therefor you know Trahearne. Only Sylvari know him before this quest. But yes it would be nice, if your character would respond something like: “we already know each other”
Because your Mentor don’t know on this point, that you know him, so he introduces you.
Well, I choose the Vigil because from the Sylvari representatives, I thought the least annoying one was the vigil girl.
The problem is tha the vizier tower is one of the two vistas which are also jumping puzzles and therefor hard to reach.
And yeah this one is also hard for non-disabled gamer or at least for me…
The problem is that the current system doesn’t scale properly with your level. At least not how I play the gaem.
Yes, I believe there is a system that calculates the cost based on level properly, but I think this shouldn’t be there at all, because with higher level your travelling distance also increase.
On low levels I used the teleporters because I just have to travel across 1 map and that is really a small fee I have to pay.
On higher levels when I want to travel from Lion’s Arch to Mount Maelstrom, I just walk, because porting is to expensive.
Seriously I want lower travel costs or speed buff mounts. I love walking around the world but the places that are far awy from major cities are very anoying to reach.
You get the Vigil banner after the first vigil act, when you are promoted from recruit. This is about level 40
Well, the pale tree said something that can be interpreted that he/she died.
Anyway, this would be a great line for the character on the funeral. You see all the charr and whisper agents who mourn his dead and the character has the choise to say: “He is not dead, I refuse to accept it.”
So mayby it is interesting not to recover his body after Retribution to let this question open. ^^
In part VI of the personal story “This Far, No Further”, your mentor dies and Trahearne is introduced. Well, this is not a we all don’t like Trahearne thread because I like him.
What is important in this thread is the mentor! I would love to have a funeral for my mentor after The Battle of Claw Island and be able to recover his body after Retribution. Why? Because he asked me to tell others about his legend.
I later meet Apatia, who is a norn, too. She also dies and I travel to Hoelbrak to mourn her death, but I didn’t do it for my mentor. A missed oportunity in my book.
And now we speak about Trahearne. I think it would be great if he would comfort the player character during the funeral. Perhaps tell a story about how he met the mentor of the PC and what a great person he/she was. Something that gives some emotional bound between Trahearne and the PC.
I wasn’t sure where to post this because this is a suggestion as well as a discussion about the personal story.
Yeah I would love to see this…
Sorry Nurvus but your argumentation doesn’t work, because…
Eles and Engineers are broken! They only need 1 weapon set instead of 2, so they are fully geared sooner than other professions. This is basiclly the logic conclusion, of what you said.
The rest of what you said, also doesn’t work, because Warriors and Thieves already can do all this. They only need 4 weapons to do so, so if they have these 4 weapons they are already broken without the suggestion.
So we can agree Eles, Engeneers, Warriors and Thieves are broken… With or without the ability to swap the main to the off hand and vice versa.
Imo it is a very good suggestions, so +1.
Yeah I thought about that, but somehow I always get the Norn spirt thing in my head but courage fits too… :P
There is so much win in this thread ;_;
Sorry I just had to get this out out the system… O_o
Caithe: “Nature!”
Rytlock: “Strife!”
Eir: “Spirit!”
Zojja: “Genius!”
Logan: “Fate!”
Destiny’s Edge: “Go Tyria!”
Trahearne: “By your powers combined, I am Marshal Trahearne!”
Edit: I realized that I wrote spite instead of spirit, that was probably some autocorrect mistake. O_o
(edited by yandere.9176)
I think those 4 would be my favored:
Pair of Claws/Fists (two-handed)
Polearm (two-handed)
Whip (one-handed)
Well, I felt quite misunderstood myself. So we have things in common I guess… :P
It is only the monthly achievement nothing of worth is attached to it.
My son once asked my why my character wouldn’t use his hand to climb up there…. This question haunts me everytime I get into a jumping puzzle.
GURPS and WoD I already considered. I don’t know if the marvel one isn’t a bit progressive for this one, but it is an interesting idea. I don’t know dream punk, but I will look into it.
Perhaps making an own RPG wouldn’t be such a bad idea. I consider making a project out of this, we could use the GW2 wiki (my user space) as platform to gather ideas how to create a tabletop for GW2.
So may I ask, who would want to join in something like this?
I just saved your map to my hard drive. May I upload this baby into the GW2 wiki?
Oh, don’t be hypocritical. You were the one you claimed to speak for the players. And I cite: “The players want the story to be about them.”
I never did this. I talked for the only person that I can talk for. I talked about my opinion. Perhaps I didn’t make this crystal clear, but I never wanted to talk for anybody but myself.
I see that you have a diffrent opinion. Of course, I do not speak for you. But when you state something like “the player wants this, the player wants that”. Well, I am playing this game, too. And I certainly want diffrent things than you. This isn’t trivialising your concerns and issues, that is just a diffrent opinion that you don’t like. And don’t hide behind some grey mass of people you are speaking for. You are speaking for yourself, just like me.
I never actually told you that your feelings were wrong. They are of course right, just like my feelings are right. I just have a very diffrent point of view and from my point of view, things aren’t this bad.
Ok, rant over, but you just ticked me of a little bit.
On a emotional level we have diffrent sight, so let’s try to make things a little bit rational. I want to understand why people are having such problems, because I seriously don’t.
You see, when I look at the plot. I see “the hero go out to slay the dragon”.
This is a basic fantasy plot and that is ok. My point is it is about you, you are the protagonist of this plot. So now you can tell me, I am wrong this. This isn’t the plot of the story. Which is fine, I can live with that answer.
Or you can tell me, your feeling that the story isn’t about you, not because the plot isn’t about you, but…. and here I would like to something more specific, than “Traherne happens”, because this statement has as much information as “The story isn’t about me”.
And I say it again, I am only talking for me and I seriously do not wish to offend you in any way. The point is I am not native english speaker, so chances are things that I write sounds harder than I mean them.
