He/she/it is talking about spreading out, which is basically what people suggest ArenaNet forces people to do. Which does not require anything except stuff fully available for everyone in-game.

No, they can’t queue, except for a few hours on reset night. That’s BG right now. The thought that the #23 server would change that and create insane queues is just wrong. The only thing that would change for people on the #23 server is that they would have people to play with on all timezones.
The queue fallacy must go. That’s no true anymore for more than a year now.
There’s absolutely no queue outside reset night on NA T1 servers. The population from the #24, #23 and #22 servers won’t magically cause insane queues.
The same applies to all the other merges. There’s just not enough population for 24 servers. That’s a fact.
This is like every server’s, besides T1, nightmare coming true. I’m willing to bet anything that this idea came from an adopted dev in a T1 server.
I know most are against this but what if we just did WvWvW server mergers? I don’t know how many merges would be acceptable to the general masses but I think that would be an.. idea, a solution, clearly, as is, WvWvW is not fun, for me definitely. I only get on because I feel needed. I am doing this because I don’t want Gw2 WvWvW, the only thing I do, to die, which it is. Merge WvWvW servers until there are.. I dunno, but I’m thinking 3 servers. Yes, just 3 huge servers. Remove queues, or make the limit much, much, much, larger.

Remove EOTM (Edge of the Mists) in lower tiered servers.

Well, I get on WvWvW and see less than 30 people in Eternal Battlegrounds pretty much 24/7, 0 people are on in my BL at all times. We lose, every week. Because of coverage, we have kitten good players, proof being, anyone ever fight against DUI? Not a member, but an admirer. But we have so few people. In EOTM I see 3x the numbers I would normally see in WvWvW. To compensate for the casuals and karma farmers, increase the WvWvW rewards. Make it more rewarding, because as is, I am losing so much gold and will go broke at this rate, because of upgrading. 110 g to 35 g in 3 weeks. Full time WvWvWer. Not entirely sure how EOTM works.Just a few ideas of mine, I know this probably doesn’t seem viable but I want to get feedback and refine my solutions until this is presentable. Then I’ll try to get the attention of Anet and try to help fix WvWvW and get it out of this horrendous, almost unplayable, state.
I’ve been saying that for a long time. Server merge is the easiest and more realistic attempt of a solution by far.
Merge the #1 with #24, #2 with #23, and so on. Merge their names as well.
Kaineng Coast, Blackgate Crossing, etc.
It doens’t even need to be a permanent thing, we could just test it and see how it goes. If players end up really hating it or the matches got even worse than they are now, they could just undo it.

In all seriousness, just merge the kitten servers. Of all the solutions proposed on this thread, it’s the fastest and more realistic.
Let’s just use Occam’s razor. Sometimes the simplest explanations are the best.
I stay with servers merge. It’s the easiest, fastest and “doablest” option.
Merge servers according to their ranks and rename the new server to a variation of the two merged servers.
TC + ET = Eredon Cost
BG + FC = Blackgate Crossing
JQ + SF = Sorrow’s Quarry
And so on.
I would love to see the server system gone and replaced by an alliance system, but that is unrealistic.
How about exhaustion be applied upon using supplies instead of dropping the siege? I can pretty much drop 3 trebs and waste 300 supplies under the 3 minute frame.
This guy nailed it. U should focus on supplies spent, not sieges dropped. This way, commanders can still drop all the sieges and the siege trolls can’t…well…troll?
I think it’s the best way to implement this.
It’s sure not working as intended. Killed two players at east side of SM and got nothing. If they can run to there and still have the debuff, the timer is too kitten long. They are as much as a threat as any other player, I don’t care that they just respawned three minutes ago.

Things are pretty nice in Bronze League. Just one match-up defined and on the other two, all servers have a chance to win.
I really don’t dislike it. Most of the time, when the enemy used it against us, their zerg arrived before we cap the objective, which means a lot of fun fights.
I don’t heard any of the commanders or the people in TS complaining about it as well. Seens like you guys don’t like to fight and just want to cap undefended objectives. Where’s the fun in that?

I think that make the achievements WvW events is a step in the right direction. Maybe just increase the number a bit. Any 25 WvW achievements would be a reasonable goal.
Anyway, it doesn’t bother me that it’s just 5, but maybe 25 would make the PVE people have a deeper WvW experience before they go back to PVE.

No divisions. All 24 servers fighting each other. 24~36h (don’t know which is the best) matches.
If you put togheter season + pve achievement hunters + short durations + a unique chance to fight a completely differente server / test yourself agains a higher tier server for 24~36h = a lot of fun for everybody involved and, thanks for the short durations of the matches, the coverage won’t be a big issue.
Even that, for exemple, a T7 server would still lose agains a T1 and T4 server (or maybe not…everything can happen in just 24~36h =D), they would still have a great time fighting servers they otherwise would never fight, and they can test themselves agains stronger opponents. And since the match would only last for 24~36h, there’s absolutelly no risk of a server being in a horrible one-sided match for too long.
Can’t think in a better way to make (most) of the season enjoyable for every server.
Annnd you just excluded most of the WvW players for once (all the ones that won’t be able to play for at least one of those “matches”) on top of expendint like Hell the population imbalance, giving a free ride to some servers, screwing madly others, depending on what show up they got and what day of the week those “matches” happens.
Can people STOP to want to remove the 24/7 fights for long duration in WvW already ?
What you want with all your ideas of “time slices”/short mus/short matches/population caps indexed on the lowest server pop/whatever is battlegrounds, not WvW/RvR.
Ask for a new mode that will make you happy but stop wanting to destroy WvW and it’s specificity….
There would be so many matches that I don’t see the drama of not being able to play one or two…
And, btw, the matches would be known beforehand, so the servers could prepare and make they strategy based on the opponents strenght, etc. Maybe take easy the next match against fairly easy opponents and gather the militia for the fight after that, against two stronger opponents, etc.

You can’t get anything from your opponent’s bag as it is today. What was the last time you got some Koi Cakes from an enemy’s loot?
As said before, the best way is to get a C-O-P-Y of a NON-MAJOR item from your opponent’s inventory, like a small amount of food, or a booster ou some silver coins. Nothing drastic, just something to make the WvW loot a little funnier. Noone would lose anything.
People these days can’t handle Ultima Online kind of loot system. But would be cool to have a chance to get a “copy” of a non-major item in the opponent’s bag, like % of the stack of food, boosters, etc.
why everybodys assume that the voip servers needs to run on the same servers that the “worlds” run?
And all that people moving would be prime time players. That would do jack about the coverage problem.
What difference does it make to lower the population to 50 per side when outside NA prime some servers has 10 people on total and the other has 50 on each map? It wouldn’t even come close to solve the coverage issue.
All this idea does is to generate huge queues on prime times.
It’s like in gold league: 3 servers will fight for the 3 first places and the other 3 servers will just be steamrolled for 4 boring weeks.

Noone would be a “guest” in someone else’s server. It would be a complete new server, with a new name and everything. I think it would be cool if the names were merged also.
Merging the servers would balance the population and still keep the pride to fight for. The merge should be the first ranked server with the last and so on.

Sever loyalty is a joke. Every PvE area is already megaserver, EotM is EotM, and WvW is full of people coming and going everyday.
You would still be with everyone from your home server, along with new faces that I’m sure everyone would like to see. More people = More fights, More defense, More roamers, More Fun. What is WvW without people? A PvE zone. If you want to ktrain go to EotM, and if you want to flip camps over and over and over and over and over you will still be able to do it!
Right now there are no blobs outside of t1. The largest groups are around 30 man SoS zergs which only are spotted at prime time. Seasons will act as a temporary fix, bringing in PvErs for the four week span. After that though they will cause even more decline in populations, as we have seen happen after seasons one and two.There is ZERO reason to play on a dead server. If you are in it for the ppt night capping ruins all your fun, if you are in it for the roaming server merges will provide more duels and small skirmishes.
People keep acting like higher tier play is simply blobvblob, which simply is the case anymore.

Every server would be “T1”. I don’t know what people think about T1, but it’s not infinite queues and zergsfests everywhere. I know because I was in BP for almost a year and have been in T1 for 3 months now.
I’m primarily a roamer, and it’s so much better here in T1 than it ever was in T4~5. There’s action 24/7 and room for every single aspect of WvW. U can solo roam, u can havoc, u can follow the tag ang get into zerg fights. Only time we get long queues is on reset nights, mostly on EB. Beside that, you can just log in and play.
People have a really wrong image of what things looks like in T1. As a former T4~5 player, I can say that the T1 population and sense of an alive world (no more deserts maps besides NA prime) is what WvW were supposed to be.
It would be nice to hear a devs opinions on this. Even if it were to say “not gonna happen”.
Having played on every tier except 8, I could probably write a dissertation on the subject, but I’ll try to keep it short. There is a reason a lot of players have taken to having multiple accounts with one on T1-3, and another T6-8 or so. It’s an entirely different experience with pros and cons to both.
High tier advantages:
-More larger scale combat if that’s your thing.
-More players familiar with GWEN balls, again, if that’s your thing.
-More coverage in the off hours.
-Sometimes at least, a higher level of organization
-More opportunities to fight guilds in open world and GvG (increasingly the one undisputed advantage).High tier disadvantages:
-Coverage disparities are exacerbated. Everything gets papered on a daily, sometimes hourly basis when you don’t have coverage.
-There’s more of a need to be playing ppt, which often means flipping a lot of paper stuff very quickly.
-Skill groups can’t zerg bust a 50 deep hammer blob all wearing PTV gear.
-Roamers and small groups tend to run very boring bunker builds and group compositions.Low tier advantages
-Less emphasis on ppt around the clock.
-Most servers don’t have a major coverage advantage with EU / OXC / SEA.
-Waypointed keeps are harder take because it’s rare for anyone to have a 30+ group trying to flash grab.
-Offense tends to be more methodical when there are defenders, because a response group often isn’t coming.
-You get to know players more on an individual basis, even many enemies with frequent opponent servers.
-More a DIY experience if you like doing things yourself.
-More roamers and small groups that play high risk builds.Low tier disadvantages:
-Frequently only 1 commander between all maps, if that.
-Organization is sometimes severely lacking, particularly when you need to defend without siege humping to victory.
-If you can’t handle yourself solo, you’re going to have a really awful experience.
-When a server does have a coverage advantage, they will sometimes paper a whole map, or even every map virtually opposed.
-Orange sword level battles are fewer and farther between if that’s what you’re after.

They can balance the game though… there’s just too many servers for just a few players. Merge the first ranked server with the last and so on. Rename the servers to avoid childish complaints.
It’ll sucks for YB or DB if they get stuck on Gold League.
I remember Mag stemrolling BP back in the time when I was there because of their superior coverage, so I never really liked that server. =P

Faction vs Faction has a queue problem as there are more players that want to play WvW then can reliably fit in the server. Also it does not solve the stacking issue. See Luxons vs Kurzicks in GW1.

I will gladly pay 300g for an account unlock for ALL my characters, than just one. I specialized my characters differently; defenders, attackers, supply runners, etc. Now I don’t have to spend more gold for one character to have the defender tag, more gold for one to be the assaulter, etc. One price, full account unlock.
