fps drop is here as well. and it seems to be connected with gui (when its off, fps is like it was before)

I don’t know who you talked to, but outside WvW (which indeed doesn’t use GPU for some reason) the game uses mostly the GPU and not much of the CPU. If players actually TESTED their claims, it would be better, but most players just post what others post and what they read somewhere.
Open your task manager and it’s easy to see the GPU is getting way more usage than the CPU, of course that depends on your CPU/GPU, if your CPU is terrible and your GPU is a monster, it might not be the case.

and if expansion maps will be even more detailed / bigger than southsun/drytop/sw, for lots of players gpu change may be neccesary to get decent framerate, even if we’ll be stuck in 2005 with dx9I play 95% WvW, and i can say that my GPU is woefully under-utilized, mostly sitting at 15-20%. I Have tested my claims, I simply am in a different community (mostly wvw) where CPU dominates. I dont really spend any time on the new maps besides to unlock them and get WPs in every corner. I simply wanted to know if there would be any optimizations that would improve resource management.
It doesn’t really affect my gameplay at all – my CPU can handle all of the processing that needs to happen in full settings, but I had a glimmer of a hope that maybe Anet would bring the game into the right decade.

I wouldnt call existing dungeons easy.
They are boring and smooth for many of us because we did them hundreds if not thousands of times. Once we see new dungeons they will be challenging but half year later they will be farmed with daily manner as old ones. This is totally natural.
well i wouldnt say arah p4 or fotm 50 are farmed daily (at least not by majority)
and since ferocity patch, anything below cof can be easily done even by newbies that dont know the path, cause mobs are weak

Um, dungeon ranger is 1 spam. Most of sustained damage comes from 1 spam, like warrior mainhand axe. Thief does cnd>backstab every other while and in the revealed debuff spams 1. Necromancer is 1 spam, from dagger to deathshroud to Lich elite. Once ele has his might stacks and has used meteor shower, he just spams fire ball in between lava fonts.
hmm..without timed dodges/blocks/blind/projectiles defense it would be wipe in like 10seconds. try snowblind boss/grawl shaman/mossman(on land, not underwater glitch)/mai trin at scales 40+/hotw bosses with just spamming 1 stacked and not touching other buttons.
and you know: just because most of current dungeons/paths are easy and bit boring (most 80- ones, jade maw), doesnt mean they couldnt make new ones with more complex mechanics, more challenging.
and i dont see it possible to do open world content player skill based, its just a matter of working out how it works (check teq/wurm – impossible at the begining now regularly killed, without much effort from players, only need to follow commanders. vinewrath is just supereasy mode marionette, which was easy too and failed only due to REALLY BAD players that couldnt understand simple mechanics (or i should say – didnt want to learn and wanted to just 111 through everything and be rewarded for no effort at all. and it lead to fail and insult on chat))
why play a game that offers you no challenge and rewards everyone for quite everything, even if the activity can be completed by 5 year old kid
i dont mean do offend anyone, its just my (and many more players) point of view – games are about challange, not necessarily very hard challenge, but challenge

Technically, these dungeons were less buggy and offered more interesting challenges/puzzles than the AC I run daily.
The fact they got re-integrated in fractals because of community lobbying should tell you how appreciated they were.
Less buggy? I wouldn’t say so. Mai trin’s cannons phase is probably one of the most prominent bug in fractals and everyone complains about that.
Also, a lot of people don’t like time gated challenges.
What’s buggy about the cannon phase in Mai Trin?

Can’t wait to see how it moves when they introduce even more detailed maps like they plan to in the expansion (maps are now even vertically detailed). What use is to have a beautifully drawn game (art) if most ppl will auto-set it to low settings in order to get above “slideshow” FPS.

as for the cores usage…well, playing gw2 i got 4 of my i5 cores often loaded around 70-80%, so i think it can use at least 4 cores/threads.
gpu however (hd7850), likes to get to 100% in southsun / drytop/ silverwastes and i wonder if itll produce at least 30+ in new map(s?)
- no bows for guard (axe/offhandsword/rifle please!)
- no scepter / focus for warrior (melee staff maybe? offhand dagger?)
- no mace / hammer / scepter / focus / staff / longbow for thief
- well, engi gets hammer..and only other weapon that may fit someday later seems to be mace
- ranger gets staff..not sure how to feel about that. for sure no pistols / scepter / focus / hammer / mace

They had dx8 in the original campaign and updated to 9 for fractals. They could do the same. The argument of being more accessible for older machines is null since you can usually just switch between the two renders like in WoW. Dx9 is extremely old and it’s a bit ridiculous not to have the option for at least dx10.

Oh my, I just re-read that… sorry, I have a 20h flight behind me and my concentration is lacking: in Guild Wars 1 Prophecies they ran DirectX 8 and for Factions they updated to DirectX 9.
You can choose between DirectX versions in WoW since a couple of years (at least you could some time ago, haven’t played in a while). This would be an option, too, if poeple have older machines.
while having multiple renderers for the same game is possible (see WoW, Civ 5) it requires the game be built with that in mind from the get go.
if you haven’t built your game from the ground up with this in mind (usually to have a DX and OGL renderer) then it is ALOT of work convert it.
im not sure if wow was built with dx11 in mind

it just works bad. almost as bad as gta4 was running at launch (no matter the pc – performance was fully random – and patches helped just a bit)
iam playing this game since beta.. and i dont remember my game ever crashed.. i got a lot of DC.. but never crash.. if u want more fps.. u need to get better GPU.. basicly any intel quad-core CPU is enough and more cores or OC will not give u more fps..

so at work i got i7 4790k @ 4,4 with gtx760 OC 2gb (ok, its not the fastest one but again, considering gw2 age and what it offers visually – should be more than enough)
i dont see it running any better than at my home rig – fps drops to 30-40 are regular thing, no matter the settings (im not even commenting performance at teq or wurm…)
I wouldn’t say GW2 is GPU intensive, even mid-tier ones are perfectly capable of running it at max settings with supersampling thrown on top with the CPU still being the bottleneck. All MMOs have the same problem, WoW on a good card has no problem pushing close to 120fps at max settings while questing, then you go to the Highmaul entrance at raid hour and you have a slideshow…
it is. on hd7850 2gb (runs much better looking games smoothly) at max settings with native rendering, its constantly at 90-99% load, fps dropping often to 30 or less, while my 4690k @ 4,2 is rarely going over 70% load. thats about regular playing – world bosses are barely playable, regardless of settings
and stop that bs with amd making bad gpu – in many and more title they far outperformthe green cards (unless nvidia pays $$ to developers to make their games work worse on amd products. latest gtx970 problems and the gsync joke perfectly fit with that)

Yeah, the point is that GW2 doesn’t look good enough to warrant the kind of system it demands to run it smoothly. This means it is poorly optimised, which is something that needs to be fixed.

enlighten me, how much more gpu must calculate for player than for npc? i play shadow of mordor that looks 10x better than gw2 (models complexity, huge textures, all the effects), having insane ammount of enemies at screen and..its stable high fps. i know, its mmo, it works differently…but still load on gpu is jsut too huge, when my i5 is just dying of boredom. and as they announced even bigger map, the performance may be terrible as well (dt/sw need more power than sc did. and sc is still much more demanding than vanilla maps)….
A lot more. Mostly because in a single player game the hordes of enemies are mostly identical to each other, whereas in an MMO every single player model has not only an unique mesh but also unique textures (demaning absurd amounts of VRAM to be able to keep from mem swapping). Modern GPUs are quite good at calculating identical or mostly identical objects in masses, like blades of grass, or hordes of identical enemies.
That’s why GW2 runs fine when there are no other players around, but starts to choke when there are more players on the screen. Drop your detailed model display count to low or lowest and you’ll see huge improvements in your FPS.
Again, show me an MMO with 100 players on the screen, looking as good or better as GW2 and running better.
you mean that 1gb of vram is absurding? thats the most ive seen in use while playing gw2 (got 2gb on my gpu..)
also the new maps: on old ones i got stable 60fps with 50-70% load. on new ones (started with sc, but on dt/sw its even worse!) its like 30-40 with 99% load. so they are actually making the game more demanding. maps look great and better than old ones? probably. would players – that are not oh-look-i-got-super-expensive-gpu-and-all-sliders-further-than-you-loosers – prefer stable high framerate with slightly worse graphics? i bet they would.
and after HoT announcment it’ll just get worse, as they plan to release even bigger maps. it will be beautiful, no doubt. but at the same time, for majority of players unplayable in higher settings, and on low the game looks just TERRIBLE
the game engine is old. making more detailed content that can give even most powerful rigs chokes without touching the engine isnt the best idea.

Yes they need to do something about it after almost 3 years.
I’ve just built a new pc with a GeForce GTX 970 and when encountering world bosses it evens drop down to around 20FPS…
And that is what I get with a GTX 660ti on world bosses. This game really need some performance improvement…
Yeah the game never really had much GPU issues, this is why nvidia rep has stated multiple times that the game is very CPU bound and thats why they were not releasing any driver optimizations for the game back when it launched.
i experience it other way…my hd7850 is at 100% load most of the time, while my i5 4690k got load around 50-70% on cores at most. on vanilla maps thou i got mostly under 80% gpu load and stable 60fps (limited). on new maps (sc/dt/sw) fps like to drop below 30 and get my gpu crazy hot. id like to know why….

Eternity will not be account bound when it comes out of the forge even if your sunrise and Twilight were bound to your account. Jus make sure you equip them before crafting the eternity so you can get the points for your legendary collector achievement.

Ok, title may be a little confusing, but so i am confused.
I got Sunrise right now, and am close to crafting next legendary. If i craft Twilight then make Eternity :
a) bounded Sunrise + not bounded Twilight
b) bounded Sunrise + bounded Twilight
will my Eternity be bounded after crafting?
i dont really care about stat changing or Eternity itself. i’d like to unlock Twilight skin, sell Eternity and grab another legendary.
TL;DR
my experience with ff: downloaded. started. boring starting cutscene (oh noes, pirates..or whatever). it was unskipable or the button was well hidden. when i finally was through it, i was running around city, clicking all these ‘!’ and ‘?’ npcs, scrolling their walls of text, trying to find anything on that useless minimap, getting rid of constantly popping up windows that try to explain something, but fail hard at it. after around 40minutes i closed and uninstalled it. in that time i had no chance to even try battle, cause i got bored. sorry – i felt like in other 100’s generic korean mmo’s, just with FF in title. oh and GUI. its terrible by all means.
gw2: you create character, start with little explanation of story and are already in the heat of battle (ok, the last feature pack seriously ruined leveling experience if you ask me – glad ive leveled my alts on old rules). then things are slowly explained to you while you progress. GUI is simple yet good looking. no need to go into details as its gw2 forums and everyone knows details.

Once upon a time, in a galaxy far, far away..playing a game and unlocking cool hard to get skins was what drove the players to do the things in game to get items that had a sense of accomplishment. You could look at a player, and by looking at him you could tell where he had been, what he had accomplished by the armor he was wearing.
Now its just insert ten dollars and you can be that uber leet guy.

uhm…sorry, but farming gold is just boring. we’re doing it for over 2 years already. they could be bought for bandit crests and however boring farming them is, at least it would keep ppl occupied in new map. now there’s barely any instance where players care about doing events. gold farming still means tp/dungeons/tp flipping.
During season 2 we have gotten 1 full set of weapons (the bug ones) in-game.
During season 2 we have gotten 1 full set of weapons (pact ones) in-store.At the end of season 2 we will have gotten 6 full armor sets in-game.

the main problem are tendrils ranged attacks. they spam ridiculous dmg with like no cd…and for story parts, useless npc are the annoyance. no aggro, no dmg, no utility. actually even worse than ranger pets.
Actually overall I think they have added MORE skins in-game than via the gem-store.

5) the ugly, totally forgotten by everyone around ambrite weapons (really, i run open world/ dungeons/ some pvp…dont think ive seen anyone with any of them)

Rangers are great, but people who play ranger suck.
Most of the time you’ll get ranger without spotter or FS, and they will camp LB.
So yeah most of rangers will be kicked for that, the thing is, people don’t know ranger can be good, so they won’t bother checking if the ranger has a sword and the required utilities.
aahh this LB stereotype..tell me..in what shortbow or mainhand axe are better? lb is actually good switch for cripple+vuln on fight start, then swap to sword (or even gs if you cant manage to stay alive on sword/whatever)
the biggest problem, that dont want to go away is warrior mentality. lfg is full of 3-4 warriors parties (when 2 is acceptable maximum, best 1 with 2 banners) that i dont even try to join, as its mostly disaster. and noone mentions this on forums

Yes, sorry. I had all things that cover metal on heavy armors in mind. Its annoying on both males and females. Coats are major issue for medium (dagger clipping on norns…) and dresses for light (same problem – daggers go all the way through it)
