Anet, please change how “Friend of the Owl” is done! This is a ridiculous design having to pay or trick new players just to not mess it up – a practice that should never be encouraged in any online game.

I got Leyline Sparks from Noxious Pods, so we can.
can we really? i did mouth 20+ times. i always get tons of oil/dust. now more crystaline. dont remember getting a SINGLE spark ;/
i also played lots of TD (got most of achis from there, many gerent attempts), almost none of VB. i still have 1,5x more oil than sparks.
also sparks are needed for infused tools for guild hall, cant recall oil/dust being used for sth similar

Crystalline ore rates been updated. Good.
Airship Oil/Auric Dust you also get from Noxious Pods in Dragon Stand, but you dont get Leyline Sparks from them. Why?
Not to mention TD seems to give lowest map currency/hour comapred to VB/AB, so Chak Acid is more expensive. Whats more annoying, you dont have 100% to get spark from Cache. Crystalline Ore is now AT LEAST 1 (up to 10 if lucky)
Can we get caches updated to work same way? guaranteed 1 spark with chance of more (maybe not 10, but 3/5)? Or/and add sparks to Noxious Pods

Drop that Character model limit down to Medium or Low and your crashes should stop.

I understand that you don’t want people to hole up in their guild halls, but if there isn’t a personal bank added can the treasurer at least show items from your bank that are on the donate list? Maybe also a component donation that would hold the mats needed until accessed by someone with the required crafting discipline to make the full item?
There is a personal bank in the Guild Hall. It comes in the form of the Scribing station. Also, the treasurer shows what items you can donate towards the guild upgrades IF the guild needs it for upgrades and IF you have it in your inventory.
yeah. inventory. either list of materials should be available from guild panel, or donation npc should also detect from bank. now i got to take screenshots of what i need for what or write it down, then go to bank with this list/screenshot…

ok, please dont give us cheap answer about ‘3rd party cause crashed blablabla’
before hot i havent experienced a single crash in months. now i got RANDOM crashes. 5-10 a day. sometimes runing, sometimes killing a mob, sometiems just standing in guildhall..for no reason at all. i always click ‘send report’, but nothing seems to improve in that matter.
please..we do need it. teq taxis, wurm taxis, lab taxis…
now we got 4 maps…and to all of them ppl want to taxi to fill maps and organize meta events. finding anything in a single tab is kinda impossible.

these requirements are a joke
the hit on gpu compared to old maps is insane. drytop/sw were just a prelude. i had to really lower graphic settings to achieve 60fps, whereas in vanilla maps i had stable 60 with 50-60% gpu usage at max, around 40+ in dt/sw with 99% usage. in verdant brink its 20-30 with 99% load. for 1080p you need at least gtx960, more looking toward 970 for nice framerate and game not looking like 2005 title.
Spear of justice – it works…baad. Lots of enemies seems resistant to it. Or it just randomly doesn’t tether to target
Wings of resolve – could we get it to 1200 range? Or 900 at least. Making it leap finisher wouldn’t hurt either. or a blast one with trait
Shield of courage – ¼ is better but still..could we get instant cast? Also, it shows radius, but not boons application range.
Puncture shot – I think it should be ½ second cast?
True shot – seems ok. Unrooting while casting would make us happy for sure, but that would require increasing cooldown also as it would be too good.
Deflecting shot – still too fast
Symbol of energy – vigor is really good, but I think burning should be a bit stronger. If not apply with pulses, at least those initial stacks could last a bit longer
Hunters ward – I still don’t see it working. Almost 3second channel..its hard to catch mobs into the barrier. Forget locking players. make the animation faster.
Purification – who cares about it, very few healing skills in whole game can compete with shelter
Procession of blades – guard got too many good utility skills to pick sth that…does nothing. Damage is laughably low, and its too easy to get away from it. Maybe make it a whirl finisher? Or apply some condis / additional effect. Or at least straight damage boost.
Fragments of faith – this ones seems the best of all traps for me, and can be considered taking into bar at all. Fragments could probably last a little longer on the ground, and disappear faster when picked up.
Test of faith – I don’t like it at all and got no idea how and where it could be even remotely useful.
Lights judgement – may be useful in wvw, maybe spvp. Useless in pve. There are classes that are better at generating vuln, and as mentioned earlier, guard got more important utilities to pick.
Dragons maw – soo I planted it…smokescale triggered it and shadosteped, not being stopped for even a second. Tried few times…I think necro elite shout does the job better. And Mesmer got timewarp for slow. Also theres quickness or invuln+virtues reset to pick here. Which are better.
Overall traps: lets us throw them. Or change a trait to allow us do that. As they are now…taking even 1 on bar means sacrifice of either stability/reflect/condi cleanse/block/? Which makes them reaaally situational. Like pewpew111 wyvern from range. Maybe add boon removal to one of them?
Traits: as mentioned earlier they aren’t bad, just… boring. zealots aggression is a welcome dmg boost, hunters fortification seems nice for aegis/block build (but not sure if it should be a grandmaster). Big game hunter seems super bad. Does it mean 10% dmg more from spear or tethered target takes 10% more dmg from everything? Bulwark could take a few seconds from f3 cooldown. Soaring devastation seems out of place, it should either be super high dmg (and knockdown maybe?), add blast finsher to landing or be a supporty modifier – now its just weak. Not to mention traits are all about bow/traps and don’t synergize that good with other weapons/utilities.
Overall dh: I still don’t like guard with bow and traps, but just 90% of guardians disliking it wont change the whole elite spec and we’ll have to live with that, waiting for better 2nd elite spec. but lets try to make it as good as it possibly can get.
oh and…whoever did shield makeover, thank you!! its not a garbage now!

well, i agree with most of what was said here but…anet will pretend to be deaf/blind to it. they sure know that majority of guardian players hate it. yet all they respond in is: longbow need better sound effects. its sad, but true.
i mean, whoever created this… abomination called dragon hunter… im sorry for him/her.
its terrbile and number tweaks wont fix it.
they wont admit their mistake and at least apoligize to guard players that they failed to deliver us something interesting…after over 2000hours past 900days on guardian..i feel extremely dissapointed. and am looking forward to amazing reaper or herald. who knows what forge may bring?
the best ‘how to fix’ is
1a for hot, if you main guard, change it to any other proffesion if you want to play elite spec
1b if you dont need elite spec, just play core guard. for now, every single trait line and weapon is better than drogonhuntur
2 wait for 2nd guard elite spec and hope itll be as good as reaper/berserker/chronomancer/auramancer(aka tempest)/passive boon machine (herald) (or who knows what medium classes will get)
its kinda too late to make it good. tweaking numbers may make it strong, but strong doesnt really mean good. i hate the very concept of it. its sluggish and boring. not one bit interesting. after seeing what other classes get, its really super underwheelming. it got the worst traps among all classes that got em. maybe after making bow faster it wont terrible anymore, just bad.
check forums, reddits, youtube comments…id say that there’s more ppl that dont like it (or even hate this whole thing) than those who actually like.
and anet seems deaf to our complains. cause someone had a brilliant idea ‘lets make guardian a ranger. but weaker, slower and overally worse’ and is super happy about it.
even basic ‘its too late / we dont have time to make something better, but 2nd guard spec will be really amazing’ would be better answer than none

the further we go with game, the worse it works. they just keep sticking more and more stuff on screen without doing anything with engine, and it kills graphic cards. my gpu is on constant 99% load on new map in beta, and i experience drops to 20 fps even without many ppl around (on old maps its constant 60fps with load at around 40-60%. fotm or dungeons i got stable 45+. it started getting worse with drytop, and even worse with SW. now it gets to the point of unplayable)
in gta online with full lobby in my sight range, i dont see fps going below 45 (with most settings maxed). witcher 3 stays around 40-60 most of the time (with mix of medium/high).
and ofc new specializations means even more glowing crap on screen, with 10 players around im not able to tell whats going on, there’s no point to even try looking at mob and trying to tell what itll do – just particle overkill. and still no particle slider.

trick or ilusion…what does it matter. lots of players like more details (even if its just a trick). witcher 3 got it, and i bet most of players got it at least on low there to get image crisper. resize screenshots? you mean enlarge them? it’ll always be look terrible, no matter with or without filters, and who’s doing that?
they could also add some reliable aa otehr than fxaa, but it’d eat lots of gpu power and result in superlow fps for many ppl out there. here’s cheap trick, that doesnt affect performance one bit

i think title says all. without 3rd party shaders (sweetfx) we got to either choose:
aliased/jagged image (fxaa off)
blurred vision (fxaa on)
supersample helps a bit with fxaa on, but difference is small. and it can eat 10-20fps (at least on my hd7850 2gb)
yet there is a simple solution. sweetfx lumasharpen. you can smoothen the aliased edges with fxaa, then sharpen final image. no jaggies + crisp image = win
if you balance settings well, you can actually get much more detailed image (but got to be careful no to go to crazy and ruin dof) than vanilla without fxaa with supersample.
the problem is lots of ppl do not know about this or do not want to mess around with any 3rd party add-ons. adding sharpenninoption in settings could greatly improve overall visual experience.
im not really a game designer, but i believe it cant be anything hard or timeconsuming. simple switch with off/low/medium/high.
below screenshots with only lumasharpen enabled (through reshade framework, strength is 1.15, clamp 0.05, pattern 2, offset_bias 1.0 and show_sharpen 0). and those are just static images. in action difference is much bigger. also for ppl interested in sweetfx, comparison with few more filters on (my daily settings)

fractals are great idea
just need some tweaking (loot/rewards/instabilities)
they don’t have good drops because of reward balance or some such

You want players to skip less / kill more mobs in dungeons?
You want ppl to stop complaining about fractal rewards (most of players can tell that lower scales give better loot than higher ones. thats just plain stupid)?
Get rid of Elite mobs in dungeons/fotm and put higher level Veterans in their place. Or update their loottables to veteran level. Simple thing. Requires almost 0 work.
Right now there’s absolutely no reason to kill most of mobs in dungeons because killing them is not rewarding at all. And they are hell annoying (either cc spam or ridiculous damage). MMO players like shinies. IF they give shinies, some ppl can consider killing them.
Bigger problem is in fractals. On higher scales veterans are replaced by elites for no reason (why not just higher level vets?). This leads to getting MUCH WORSE loot from scale 50 (where hard hitting, higher hp mobs make it harder) than for example 10 or 30. Experienced it many times myself. Only reason for high scale fractal are fractal skins and asc boxes but…they’re purely rng (but thats different topic touched many times and still ignored).

But could be you played 9 times as much of course that would be 56 hours a day then… you must be from another planetHe simply salvaged magicfind from blue and green items, nothing odd having million salvages using that method
uhm i do salvage not only blus and greens, but yellows and exotics (for insignia/inscription) too and repeated it just 321 times (x200=around 64k)
though i got ‘only’ around 3k hours since launch

You guys are aware that most of the games that have DirectX 10-11 support also support DirextX 9, right? And that people on Windows 7 and 8 will be able to upgrade towWindows 10 (which have DirectX 12) for free during the first year after Win 10 release?
Not everyone will be able or even want to update to Windows 10 though. Also keep in mind that Windows XP is still listed as minimum requirement for Guild Wars 2. And Windows XP can’t get the free update, nor can Windows Vista.

things about dungeons for many ppl is play how you want idea
ive got time, i call 4 guildies/friends/randoms and play it. everyone is important in that team, and if key member (liek guardian) dont time skills right, its fail. you msut be focused.
open world on the other hand:
- timers. world bosses. what if on 1 kill im asleep/at work, 2nd i want to spend time with my family, and 3rd i must go to sleep to wake up to work next day? dungeons dont have they problem – play whenever you want
- depending on huge pool of random players. you jump in sw/dt. even if there are players, they dont have to push map progression. you must either somehow make them do it (which isnt easy) or find instance when they want to do it. again, if you cant play in peak time, you’re screwed with empty maps / afkers. for current instanced content you need but 4 others, not 50 or 100 and you can actually decide who you play with.
and yet again. players that ask for even tiny bit of dungeons – we dont say anet should stop developing open world FOR YOU. they do and they will. why are all of you so much AGAINST instanced content, that can be played anytime you want, without timers and luck required to get in the right instance
its not that we necessarily need DUNGEONS. we want content that force you to stay focused and actually require more than just spamm one in your pvt gear following tag, can be played when we want, not when timer tells us. and rewards adequately, not with 0,00001% rng chance for skin (fotm / aether path).

dungeons/fractals got consumed and ppl that liked them and dont like open world / get bored of open world content quickly (like farming 1000s of badges / geodes is soooo much fun. repeating zerging events much is soo fun) left for other games that offer some challange for organized group of people / stopped playing / login only for dailies
all gw2 got lately was casual open world content.
i know, anet target are casual players but ‘challenging content’ (words that they use a lot in all the interviews..) and ‘open world content’ dont come together, at least there’s no such thing after 2,5 years (no, evolved wurm isnt hard, its just random ppl that got no clue what to do and dont listen to commander (or funnier – thanks to megaserver – dont even understand english) fail the thing)
WvW has long had a problem with GPU utilization, maybe with the new borderland they will fix it. Or rather, use the same system in WvW that they use anywhere else.
It’s the same everywhere. It is simply amplified in WvW due to the nature of how WvW works. When I’m in PvE, particularly the boss train, the same exact thing happens.
In some instances, Maw for example, I get about 15/20fps with 100% CPU utilization and about 50% ish GPU. Clearly, the game engine cannot cope with what’s going on and starts dropping frames because it cannot get free CPU cycles to deal with what to even send over to the GPU for processing.
Like I said earlier, the game is computationally heavy, not graphically heavy. It it feels far from optimized in that regard when there are big groups of players in close proximity to each other.
seems like we play totally different game
my cpu get to 90s only at teq, mostly sit at 30-70 (dungeons, pvp, open world, fotm)
gpu gets to 99% easily
i dont care about wvw, its too boring for me so that may be a thing
stop about that ‘you dont need gpu to play gw2’ nonsense
on a mere 1080p my gpu im often at 99%. the gui issues with latest patch made it even worse, opening inventory can cause gpu usage jump by 20% and lose 10fps (what is that, on some old flash?)

I’m guessing that only a small percentage of the playerbase regularly does dungeons. I sort of suspect that the living world wouldn’t be the living world if everyone were ignoring it and doing dungeons.This is the part of this argument Dungeon runners do not want to admit. I’m not saying a mode of the game you love should be ignored, but resources should be put where a majority of players are playing.
Before asking Anet to commit resources to new Dungeons, how about we ALL ask them for some statistic on what percentage of the player base do Dungeons regularly (or EVER)? Prove to everyone that the resources would be well spent and I have no issue with the Devs spending them.
I think the fact that only a very few additions to Dungeons have happened since release gives a clear indication that the Dungeon regulars are a small percentage of the overall player base (say less than 10%….certainly less than 15%, but hey, I could be wrong).
I’m guessing Devs are reluctant to release actual numbers as there is enough division between the groups now and it would just fuel these forum spats more.

Yelling won’t help anything. Also, they are already aware about it and I’m sure they are working on it, just things don’t get fixed with a “snap of fingers”. And don’t expect response for each issue, just look back and you see they hardly give responses about bugs, mainly when there’s too much. Better they spend time fixing them than answering in forums.

Yah, because it’s fairly obvious that it’s the rewards that are the most important thing, not stated desires for complex mechanics or challenge.
Put the rewards there and the people will be there also. Put a challenge there and it will be deserted without a big enough carrot.

harder content, better rewards. and since max stats we got are ascended, unique skins that could be aquired ONLY by playing the content, without rng involved (dreams, i know but…tokens worked in dungeons at launch)…
its anet casual favorizing hurting this game – they feel that for 1111 they should be rewarded same way that good players are for completing challenging content
aetherpath is broken cause of rng included. if it just had its own tokens for which you could buy the skins (convenience, not kitten luck!) that would be accbound on aquire, ppl would play that. noone (or minority) likes to play lottery/ sure there would be path sellers, but they are everywhere, even selling fotm runs

the thing is, ui eats lots fps but…cpu/gpu isnt affected at all. why my fps drops by 10-15, while gpu usage stays at 30-40% (and cpu similar) in a givent moment?
i see some problem with resource management there
i get that ui is probably a 3rd party, but its not a reason for some 2d elements to cut our frames so badly, while its not utilizing our hardware
under 30 frames i find it barely playable (in pvp or more intense pve, like 40+ fotm), and while the visuals of the game havent changed at all, id like an answer why they tell us to upgrade our specs. like ‘hey, game still looks the same, but you must buy 2x faster pc, just because’
