The super Adventure box is aimed at people who enjoy having a little fun who don’t take life to serious all the time and can appreciate some creativity out of left field. The thing is and GW1 was like this as well, they had your lore and all that for the “serious setting” they had their little puns, then they had stuff like this.
If you really want ERMAHGERD SURPUR SURRRISSS gameplay go play EvE. On second thought, don’t. Wouldn’t want you complaining it’s too hard for ya know would we?
Seriously, have a little fun now and again.
This is about as gamebreaking as roller beattle racing in GW1…
Seriously no pleasing this community what-so-ever.
Yes video games are art. If it takes a creative mind(s) to create something out of ones own mind and thought onto some form of “canvas” for others to enjoy or interpret, then yes its art.
Is Writing art? Yes
Is Music an art? Sure is.
Is Drawing/painting/ visuals an art? Yup
Are Movies art? For sure.
Videogames are a sum of all of these. It’s just more interactive that’s all.
I’m sure when movies came out people scoffed at it saying it wouldn’t amount to the same thing as proper theatre…
Yo dawg Y u gotz no orcz or elfz in dis gaem? Dis gaem weeksauz
You get continue coins from jumping puzzles for a thing that’s a jumping puzzle… Crazy world we live in huh?
Think of it this way, your practicing doing jumping puzzles to get a little extra reward to do a jumping puzzle that will probably require a little bit more skill then what for the most part is currently out there.
I’m also sure, according to what the coin says it grants you 5 lives, so which means 2 things. 1. This puzzle is going to be tough and 2. you get so many tries depending on if you make it/ how often you fudge up.
If I had a million gold I’d buy you a monkey. I betcha always wanted a monkey!
If they do bring it back, I’d rather not it be a dungeon but a full explorable area with DE that if done all, unlocks the ability to fight an end boss. Also have the boss in the game and not 2 years later :P
If you were to fit it into the lore it would be able to take place after all the dragons are dead or something trying to break out of the underworld into tyria and we need to find a way to contain the threat. Simple, generic, and a cheap easy excuse to visit whatever insane amazing stuff the art team and programmers toss our way.
As for armour? I wouldn’t want it insane to get like GW1 but maybe some tokens and 20 ecto for each piece and make it look like a set that gives off a misty-like smoke off of it.
What would be nice in all major towns and LA is a notice board where you can run up to the notice board and it’s the same idea as the gw2lfg site. Doesn’t require you to tab out and helps the other 75%est. of the population who doesn’t know about the website to be able to participate.
Who know’s could work out well.
Blueprints
and to make all mini’s non soul bound.
Dye’s would be nice but I don’t see it happening. They would lose value and you need 250 un-ided dyes for 1 part of a legendary. Making them account bound I could see dropping the price in dyes which would be great but yea I don’t see it happening.
Yea that’s unlucky. I think you can still get at least in a week on average 21 ( that’s if you do 7×3ecto off 1 -3Rares)
Since they added in the Bonus chest you have a chance at getting 2 golds per meta event. That right there can net you a max of 6 ecto if super lucky.
Some people have their whispers turned off because people don’t want spam either.
I don’t think it’s rude. It would be more rude if 18-19 of those people told you to kitten off.
There are days when I think the GW2 community may be a little TOO entitled for a game they don’t pay a monthly fee for, but overall as a whole in game it IS one of the better communities in an MMO i’ve played.
Or at least one of the most helpful 50% due to gameplay mechanics and 50% due to people not being total jerks.
Best 3 names I’ve seen?
A male Sylvari named I’m Old Greg ( still makes me laugh)
Female Ranger named Pika Bookah
Male Ranger named Throbin Wood
They also didn’t do St. Patrick’s Day either. In GW1 they dropped clovers and I believe there was green ale.
Maybe next year?
Stuff like Zodiac or Oni or any of those things wouldn’t make sense to have in the Gem store or game at the moment considering they are tied to Cantha, and we cannot access that yet. ( if ever )
Stuff like the storm bow and chaos axe would be great but instead of them being in Gem store I would rather wait to see if they release some content to get into any new form of Fissure of Woe or Underworld, because while paying for those is fine. It wouldn’t bring much to the game besides just added skins without some kind of lore behind it.
Besides. We should know by now if they DID do it it would be in Black Lion Chests with a low % drop chance to obtain them.
Yea guild wars 1 was WAY more serious. This pretty much sums it all up.
Im sure they will eventually but the Oni weapons from factions were some of the best made items in any game.
And yes you guys did do the nightfall armour for the wars in the cash shop. Having one for every other profession specific would be amazing. I would JUMP on the chance for some alternate GW1 mesmer armour thats’ for sure.
It does not impact a single thing. Here’s why.
5 dailies nets you at most 3 silver. Now unless your are going to run everywhere in the game, all this does is allows you to save at minimum ONE trip via waypoint. So there for no real impact. ( traveling to the closest waypoint at 80 is anywhere from 1S 30C to 4S)
Mystic coins. Now let’s say EVERYONE is selling them on the auction house. The way the game goes is the more sold the less the price of the item for people to buy. However unless your NEVER going to spend money on ANYTHING in the game selling a few mystic coins isn’t going to net you any major money because there are many money sinks in order to counter your profits. Also not everyone is selling mystic coins because they are needed for legendary weapons.
Jugs of Karma are just that, karma. They are used for items that really do not impact global economy what so ever because most items are account bound/ soul bound/ used for items to craft ( which can also cost money)
Every once in a while you get ONE basic transmute stone “Yea take THAT gem store!”
All and all just because your not getting that .5% extra whatevers for doing the daily doesn’t mean your being impacted. It’s not going to “inflate” anything and sure as heck isn’t going to destroy the economy.
What dailies are extra things and ways to help get your characters some extra little stuff on the side. For example. I do dailies with my alts to help give them the extra karma and XP while I save my laurels for the ascended gear for my main character. That isn’t going to effect jack squat.
Just really comes down to using “common sense” on this “issue”
Destiny’s edge has tons of backstory. In fact I believe they made an entire book based off of them as a prequel to the game.
I think Anet really improved upon the dungeons and if you ever played gw1’s Eye of the north it really shows.
In the first game tons of dungeons were recycled, few were really borring to run through and most of the time people only did them for certain weapons.
In this game at least there is some story are varied game play within each dungeon not to mention no two dungeons look alike and that’s an improvement.
One of the best things about this game is that there is no Tagging. By tagging I mean if someone needs to kill X things and you need to kill X things you can both get credit for killing it instead of having to tag the enemy in order to claim credit.
Despite all the rage and insane hyperbole and entitlement people are tossing around in the forums I too have a hard time trying to play any other MMO.
Anet really did improve upon gw1 in some aspects and yes there are still some more things to improve on but I think in a few years time GW2 WILL be one of the best all time MMOs that will have ever graced the genre and I’m glad, because honestly while some games look nice, the actual play becomes stale.
This game with the good and the bad isn’t stale.
This game doesn’t have nearly as much grind as some other MMO’s do. Heck the ascended pieces aren’t even that bad. Just do what you do, do some dailies that take what? 10 minutes to 30 minutes a day? just doing what your normally doing in game for the most part and you’ll eventually get them.
Stuff on the auction house isn’t all that pricy and ectos are NO WHERE near as hard to acquire in this game as they were in GW1.
The Fissure of Woe Armour or Vabbi Armour was more of a grind than 95% of anything in this game.
That’s my opinion at least.
Best part about going to the dragons for me now a days is popping a cauldron down and watch as 6 people + bite and costume brawl…
Then watch as a few people run at the dragon as a moa. Good times.
That’s fine and all. I mean even before we bother looking into Cantha, Elona and onwards ( the entire world of tyria is disgustingly huge) we still need to kill the other 3 Elder Dragons running amok within Tyria still.
After that is said and done we’re taking over Cantha! One festival at a time
I would say remove all types of currency’s needed for that dungeon. Instead, have a specific item drop from the end boss chest in each dungeon. Make it a chance instead of a garentee. This way when and If you get said item you can exchange it for any type of item piece you want. Each dungeon would have its own specific item needed to acquire in order to grab it.
This way it will make running the dungeons still doable for the chance to get that item. When you DO get that item you can spend it on any weapon/armour for that specific dungeon.
This removes currencies, keeps the excitement for a chance to get it from a chest at the end, and lets people still do whatever dungeon they want for that specific gear, armour piece.
Only things that should have a currency is Tier Culture Armour, Karma Armour and Laurels.
Welcome to WvW. Not to sound like a complete kitten about the issue but this kind of nonsense happens in RvR like gameplay throughout MMO’s that have RvR like gameplay. It’s happened in DaoC, Happened in Age of Conan and Warhammer Online. Sadly it’s going to happen here.
People call it “politics” I’ve been calling it childish BS for a long time but the problem is it won’t ever go away.
You’ll either have to ignore it and be the bigger man as a collective and move on and just play the game or like some have said move to a different server.
I dislike when games get to that state of affairs when it comes to competition, but thems the breaks sometimes.
As long as the next area is in Cantha then yup.
28 here and I enjoy the game. GW1 still holds as one of my all time favorite games, and I believe in time this game will have even way more content then that game had. Plus they ’re keeping in the holiday events which is awesome!
Guild Vs Guild matches were awesome to watch in the first one. They would make for a good “e-sport”
I’m sure though they are working on guild halls. The irony in the name now without actual “guild wars” is funny. I’m sure thats what TPvP is for now but…
Something that's been bugging me about Minipets since they were first introduced in GW1.

@Gummy.
putting in a slot would be unneeded as if you double click it it pops out and runs along with you. It would be the same as eating any food item but it would only be out for as long as you have it out.
Since you only can have 1 out at a time it wouldn’t stack.

When mini pets first came out in GW1 they were all the rage. People wanted them and flashed them out whenever they could.
However in this game I don’t see anyone care about minipets period and for the big reason which is the same reason in the first game; they don’t do anything.
Sure they’re collectible and all of that but spending 300 gems on them just to say “hey look” seam kinda not worth it.
However I had this idea since the first game what if mini came with a perk or mini buff?
Now they don’t have to be OP or game breaking and since you can’t bring them into PvP and since you can only have a max of 5 people per party or dungeon, why not have mini perks for your pets?
Ex. Mini frost elemental -2% chance to cause 33% slowdown when a skill is triggered.
Other ideas would be 2% MF 2% gold find chance to remove conditions. +2% dmg buff to everyone. +2% karma during events.
Small things that wouldn’t change much but are there for extra benefit. and of course the more rare the mini the more +xx or % chance you’d get or specific 1 of a kind sigil or rune or buff. Exotic mini’s could have party buffs as well.
This way there’s more reason to show them or have them out. more reason for people to want them and people to buy them in the gem store for a chance to get the ones they want.
Just a thought I’ve had kicking around since I received my first year mini pet back in 06 that would apply more to this game than the first one.
Would anyone else want a small buff on mini’s?

As a Mesmer, I thank you for fixing the clones issue. Seamed like my sword clone would barely ever trigger at the right range. Said 900 but i’d have to be WAY closer than that. So thank you for fixing that issue.
What a lovely post
Happy Anniversary!
Sure I miss GW1. It’s still tops on my list of all time favorite MMOs and the deck building was great fun. But this game is not that one. I’d find it just as valid comparing The Secret World or SWTOR to GW1, as I do comparing it to GW2. Different games, different mechanics, different intended experience.
However, I still mourn the loss of true Mesmers. No other class, not even the new and improved GW2 version, can ever compare. All rational arguments aside, I wish we still had Mesmers.
I hear you on that one. GW1 Mesmers would destroy a GW2 mesmer.
Wait…hold the phone. There is more than 1 level 80 area?
;P
Ironhart. If you mean the Jotun, they actually used to be a great race, highly intelligent and used to rule over the shiverpeaks a long time ago long before the events in GW1 I believe, until they had a falling out and became agressive with one another over power which made them essentially fall from grace to how they are now.
The Ogres in the game aren’t super stupid, they just crave power and that’s all they desire.
Ettin’s on the other hand…
Playing GW1 for a long time. There is a LOT of things I miss from that game that are missing in this one. Skills, Heros, UW, FoW, Guild Halls/Guild Battles, Mobs on the radar, Finding Elites from bosses, Boss Weapons (greens) etc.
Most of those (minus heros) was in the first GW BEFORE factions.
I enjoy GW2 and what they’ve done with it, but yea I find it a little restricting in some ways and I miss a lot of “if it aint broke don’t fix it” idea they put in the first one.
There is a TON of armour in this game.
8 dungeon armour sets(24 total sets)
3 tier’d culture armour for all 5 races (45 total sets)
3 42k Karma sets
3 Durmand Priory Sets
3 Order of Whispers sets
3 Vigil sets
3 PvP sets….
FOR BOTH MALE AND FEMALE!
That’s way more armour than all of gw1 combined, and if you don’t find 1 of those armour sets to look good? You sir need new eyes because yours are broken :P
EDIT: This is not including the beginner sets, the first lvl35 dungeon sets and the karma sets you find along the way throughout the game.

GW1 Vanilla only had 4 character slots and 6 professions. So I was happy when they made it 5 this time.
One thing the dungeons at least need is a Mob counter on the Map like in the first guild wars. It’s quite tough sometimes to explain something while drawing on the map if there is no mobs to circle around.
I understand in the main town but for dungeons it would be nice.
Underwater combat in this is probably one of the best underwater combat systems in a MMO.
It’s way more fluid than you’d think, you just need to get used to it.
Go try something like Champs online and try their underwater combat… Actually, please don’t.
Mesmer Elite Skill: Mass Chaos Armour
for 5 seconds all Allies in the area have Chaos Armour (same properties as normal chaos armour)
Recharge 210seconds
Make it so.
:)
No it’s like that by design. You can travel through them later on in the game. It’s to prevent players who haven’t reached that part in the story or whatever to travel to that spot because it’s near the end of the game.
Only 2 things.
Please fix the mesmer downed skill Deception. In it’s current state it’s is an utter joke and I’ve NEVER been in a situation [PvE, WvW, PvP] where that skill could potentially save my life.
Most of the time it puts me right next to my clone or closer to the enemy I’m trying to get away from.
My solution would be to make it more like the theif’s Shadow Escape where you have a target you can move around. I don’t care if its a smaller area to target, just anything then what that skill is now.
2nd thing is the /Resign command from the first game. I know it’s not as important in this game as the first one, but I still think it can serve it’s purpose in Dungeon Explore mode.
Thank you.
Yea I’m thinking there had to be more to it or something. It was very anti-climatic for what they lead it up to be. The lesser dragons were more of a threat then he ever was.
Here’s the thing. Now I haven’t had a chance to do the Arah explorable missions due to no one being there or someone doing 1 thing wrong and everyone just peacing out, but during that fight once all is said and done on that ship, if you open the map there is a uncovered area that is labeled Dragons Lair with a PoI in it. However unless it’s in explorable mode, I wonder if we were supposed to fight the rest there.
I say this because that spot is the ONLY uncovered spot while your that high up on the map and it’s pretty darn large circle, I mean there’s no other part of the map/dungeon below uncovered but who knows.
If it is bugged or fixed or whatever I figured we were supposed to fight the remainder of the boss in it’s lair? got me.
One thing they do need to fix in that mission is how everyone is there on the big ship with exception to Traherne. Yes I know he finished his purpose, but being Marshall and all you’d think he would want to see the beast go down instead of “well I’m gunna hang back here guys…hope everything goes well and ..all… that …stuff welltakecare!”
I’m sure they’re aware of the situation involving that last mission, everything about shooting canthian fireworks off in the dragons face until it died from pyrotechnics is VERY deflating and anti-climactic. Also, I hope they’ve learned how to deal with the other 3 Elders from here on out because if they’re all that bad well… let’s say glint and kunnivang was more threatening.
I’m still enjoying it deeply.
It’s different in it’s own way and I’m glad it is. I know there’s a bunch of people who won’t like it, but that,s fine different strokes for different folks but I’m still enjoying it and be exited to see more.
On a separate note. I’m also enjoying the large about of whining going on in the forums. Makes me chuckle.
It depends on your goal I guess.
Myself I hit 80 little while ago and my goal is to finish all the dungeons in story mode then go back and do the dungeons again in explorer. Play some WvW, get some Badges of Honor for 1 piece of gear I want from it. Work on getting at least exotics for all my main characters gear.
Then I want to obtain at least 3 pieces of armour from the crucible dungeon and have all my gear slotted with grenth runes.
Oh then 100% the map (94%atm) and work towards my commander training (100g book)
On top of that I have rolled at least 2 other characters I’m working on to play through the story on their parts so I can unlock the Durman priory and the Vigil.
That seams like a ton to do after 80. Not to mention fighting dragons from time to time for loot to sell and salvage.
Mesmer 80
Single Play-8.5/10
-1 for the cloned down skill ( they should make traversal while downed like the thiefs)
-.5 for most of my elites suck (+.5 save for Mass invisibility being one of the best/helpful skills I’ve used throughout the game)
Group Play -9.5/10
-.5 for still having the skill problem, but with groups at least i have a better chance to survive while being down lol.
Late game they do have exotic armour karma vendors that give out some nice gear, but it’s 42,000Karma PER piece. It’s up to you really. Ive been spending a little karma here and there and I have about 40,000 left so I’m working on getting a piece of the armour set I want.
Midnight Olive is pretty blackish.
I agree with the mesmer having a pistol main hand. I think it’s funny how your clone can fire off duel pistols yet you cannot. This must mean your clone has a higher intellegence to use 2 pistols and your character is too dumb to figure out how to hold 2.
