Mounts - Feedback

I don’t mind them in motion. I do feel like the first 3 seconds while you just get on it, it’s slow and sluggish and then from there on it moves fine.

I’m sure there is a bit of tweaking they can do to it, because right now, while I do enjoy the movement, the initial start-up doesn’t have that right feel to it.

Please, my heart cannot take this anymore. Ever since I walked into Yaks Bend in GW1 all those years ago, I’ve wanted to ride a Dolyak.

Now you add mounts, and still, no ride-able Dolyaks, and you continue to tease with these desert-types as well.

WHY WONT YOU LET ME RIDE THESE SLOW LOVE-ABLE CREATURES INTO BATTLE!?

Joking aside. I really do hope they add more types of mounts, if it goes over well, or maybe skins or something, because I really do think Dolyaks would be the perfect mount to ride.

Please add Tengu, and here is why

I’ve been wanting to play Tengu for a long time now. Hell I refuse to make a theif until I can play one, because that’s the immersion I would like for that class.

Honestly though, I would take a potion kind of like how you can play as a Kodan and I’ll be fine. Hell I would even buy it with GEMS for crying out loud.

Im sure they could do what the eventually did in GW1 around the time of nightfall just before Eotn and make two variants of skills. There was a PvE variant as well as a PVP counterpart. Worked out well for both peoples because this way the skill team only had to really worry about the PVP part of it.

your in PVE? it stays PVE
your in WvW or PvP? it switches to PvP variants

Shiro for Revenant Campaign

Shiro and Abbadon to me anyway are still two of the BEST boss fights in Guild wars, Followed by Urgoz, kanaxai and Iron Forgemaster.

In GW2 it’s probably just been the sorrows embrace dungeon boss and the Giganticus Lupicus. Mostly for the fact the main ones are mostly just Dragons, and no matter how cool your dragon looks, it’s still another dragon. It’s going to get to a point in the game where we’re going to just spray a can of Dragon Raid on them and watch them shrivel up and wither away haha.

Maybe if the dragons talked or something and gave more insight to the history of the world then just “I’m big dragon, i eat magics” then that be cool.

So yes, I vote for Shiro 2015 and vote for Shiro as best dragon boss .

Nightfall CE vs Heart of Thorns

Be very careful about comparing NF maps to any GW2 maps, especially new ones. GW1 were generally light on content and had repeat value only for hard mode which was added later. Because of their small size of maps and lack of any real substance, they required substantially and I mean substantially less work work to make and develop than a GW2 map.

Take Dry Top. Dry Top alone has generated more time and content than any single GW1 map across any campaign;
- Coins to collect
- farming
- exclusive crafting reward
- an interesting and unique map mechanic
- a variety of different bosses with different mechanics
- jumping puzzles

By comparison what did Bahdok Caverns or Jahai Plains have? A couple of bosses, most of which had no discernable difficulty, some mobs, some pretty scenery confined by pathing, some non-repeatable quests. And that’s it.

You cannot compare GW2 and GW1 in terms of maps simply because the content ratio is utterly different and more time and effort goes into 1 single map in GW2. That’s why they churned NF out so quickly after Factions.

Sorry I just want to point out the reason NF came so fast after Factions was because they had 2 teams working on the games. The prophecies team started work on Nightfall and the 2nd team that worked on Factions started working on Eotn.

What gets me is if in 3 years this is all they have done with WAAAY more people on their payroll and it may or may not have the final dragon content at the end, when are we going to get to fight all 6 dragons and move onto other parts of Tyria? 12 years from now? I REALLY hope they can start pumping out more add-ons to the current world in a faster time period, they have the man power and a decent quality team.
I would rather take more add ons than small living world content that takes about 1 hour to complete, and I’m not a fan of endless grinding kind of person so those dry top armour pieces don’t excite me.

On another note, that NF:CE is awesome I have the same one. When I pre-ordered Factions I got a free t-shirt with it.

I can understand why existing players are getting upset by it.

The original GW came with 4 slots and you could purchase more slots if you chose to $10 a slot i believe.

When factions came out, it was a standalone/ expansion pack. If you didn’t own Prophecies, it acted like its own game with 4 slots. However, if you DID own Prophecies , it acted like an expansion and gave you ONE free character slot FOR FREE even though you could pay $10 for one.

This same thing applied to Nightfall as well which gave you another FREE slot if you added it as an Expac so your total would be 6 slots for 3 games. Since there were 10 classes at that point, they still could make money off of the extra character slots.

Even IF you were to get a free slot from this expansion that would only be 6 slots and there are 9 classes now that is still a minimum of $30 worth of slots a person can buy to have ONE of every character minimum.

So having to pay a minimum of $75 for a $10 slot added on to the digital copy of a game with some other stuff doesn’t seam to make sense.

It SHOULD be exactly like the gw1 model in this regards.

If you bought the game already for that $50 get 1 free slot. They could still make profit from it.

If you never bought the game it should come with the expasion +the game itself for the same price. Those other bundles for the $75 ($79?) and $99 should apply to the 2nd type of people with the extra slot added as well.

Okay. That’s fine. Maybe they should include a few character slots with the expansion to help out those who have no free character slots.

Whether the value is there for the $50 is debatable—we don’t know how much content there will be for the expansion.

But what I don’t get is (1) people complaining about the $50 figure itself outside of a discussion regarding the possible value of the content; and (2) that Anet’s decision to not force new players to purchase the base game is somehow offending to people who have probably got their money’s worth over these past 3 years.

Would following FFXIV’s model be a more palatable choice? 60 for base game + exp or 40 for exp alone?

I don’t get all the outrage.

I believe most of the outrage is probably the price point for the expansion itself. For myself I’m not too worried about it being $50 but it will not for sure have nearly enough content as the base game which is why I think people are getting upset.

The people who wanted to play this game, either if you were a GW1 vet or this game really looked interesting to you, probably already has bought the game. I understand Anet wants to attract new players but they’re now offering them the whole base game plus the added maguuma content, which is what it really is, added content to one side of the map.

Going back again to the first game, the stand alone/ expansions were pretty much new continents to expand upon their lore and there was a ton of new content/ features for around the same price.

For the past 3 years the most that they have worked on for this expansion is going to add onto is one side of the map as apposed to say enough content to match the base game for the same price point, which fair enough it’s their call, but to leave out an option for the people who already paid for the base game + whatever they have bought in the gem store while giving the people who probably wouldn’t have bothered playing the base game in the first place a little something extra, does seam upsetting to some people, and those people I can fully understand.

Someone did have an idea to have an option to choose what you wanted with your expansion purchase, be it the game or 800 gems ( the price of a character slot) that includes the other add on parts as well.

This is my understanding from the whole thing.

IMO too much complaining

Anyone else sad about S2 story format?

in Living World

Posted by: zityz.6089

zityz.6089

I do and I don’t

I do because I enjoyed the way they did the story cut scenes in the Personal Story format and they were nicely done.

I don’t because the “new” cut scenes with using the in-game characters and the text underneath reminds me of how they did the story cut scenes from the original guild wars.

Here’s what I say to Arena Net; Keep both. There is a good time and place for the 1 vs 1’s like when talking to Rylock for example. However when showing an overall over arcing cut scene spanning a larger sense of what’s going on, keep the “new” style and the flashy cut scenes as well.

I know in some ways the “new” style is somewhat easier but I find from an artistic stand point there isn’t anything wrong with the old way of doing it either. It only means more VO for the story character more so than art work.

Overall I would say they need to keep both, and use each accordingly, keeping things fresh throughout the Living Story.

Low-level content

in Living World

Posted by: zityz.6089

zityz.6089

Personally, I don’t think any of the new season areas should be low level. It’s not hard to level to 80 anyway and it gives you extra incentive to when you do get to 80.

It’s nice to see more 80 zones because what is the point of maxing out your gear and not putting it to good use because everything is downgraded? Besides there are PLENTY of things to do BEFORE level 80. 80’s have what? 3 zones now?

I understand you want to experience the new content, but either play a character to 80 which takes under a week to level and then experience it or just enjoy the other 98% of the game that’s already there for you.

I’m sure it has to do with the awakening of Mordremoth and all his magic is probably twisted scarlet somehow and she’s basically Zhaitan’s Eye but WAY more effective.

Here is a FAR stretch, but maybe Mordremoth has the 6 eyes and maybe Abbadon somehow knew about this dragon (He was the god of secrets) and so he probably modeled himself after Mordremoth long ago and the Margonites thought they were modeled off him but in actuality are modeled off of Mordremoth .

Now I understand in this game being different as it is you need money sinks. And sure you can re-trait whatever spot of your traits you need to or just the whole thing if need be but honestly THIS? You want people to pay for something people used to do for free to begin with and instead of not being a lazy kitten and go to a town or outside in Queensdale and just purchase?

I can’t wait until they release the “skill build token” that lets you save and swap skill builds on the fly for a nice 300gems….

I would say that world 2 over all IS TOO LONG. What made the first world so great was it was short quick and straight to the point. some hidden things here and there. World 2 is honestly a group of dudes overthinking the whole thing. I love the concepts and how each look but I honestly never want to bother with world 2 again. Too many mini bosses in between other mini bosses and some interesting stuff (Q-bert nod) that I think could have been used at a later date.

World 2 LOOKS better than World 1 but World 1 is far more enjoyable to play through.

I did it on infantile mode myself because I was just getting too bored trying to go through it and even then I felt like I spent a good solid 2 hours or so by hopping on clouds.

That boss could have done without the wizard part completely. The dragon was cool but after fighting that p.o.s. Yeti for no reason just to fight the wizard( which BTW whoever thought it was a good idea to put the clouds in a way where they’re IN the way? I hope your running coffee for the rest of the Dev team for the rest of the month) and then having to fight the dragon.

Overall it’s a 5/10 for world 2. Bummer really because SAB was the best Living World add on stuff I enjoyed.

Oh well. Can’t win em all.

Wouldn’t it just make MORE sense to just ADD 20 levels no matter the level you are? So if your 80 you get 20 skill points. If your not it should add 20 levels to that level 50 you have sitting on the backburner…

So Being 1-Shot is meant to be a Challenge?

I think some of the problem is not being one shotted but being one shotted before animations trigger or you have any idea why you were down in the first place.

Ex. fighting Sierl(sp?) the one where you disable her shield. I will be fine, disabling her shield using the dark for the buff to not get hit, then BAM I’m insta down, her blast shot THEN animates THEN her shield goes back up.

If this is permanent I think I shall wait until it’s not total lag city in the area before trying it out. Or until they fix a few things to offset animations.

As a person who played 6 years of GW1 I’m kind of glad Kiel won. To me it’s a win-win situation. I’ve got a lot of backstory and lore about the gods from GW1 and as a fractal, I don’t think it would have done something like that justice. Since this is GW2 I’m curious into the lore of THIS GAME. If they would like to put stuff in about the gods and such, great but maybe at a later time when the crystal desert is open to people.

That’s also a thing. There is no CD in this game yet so the people who had never played gw1 didn’t get to experience it’s mystery. Even IF Evon won, it would show the battle over the CD but a lot of people probably would wonder why they can’t access this place yet.

I’m curious to know more about the Elder Dragons as they PRE-DATE the gods themselves. Clearly magic existed before the gods and it had to have come from somewhere. I would love to know more about that, no matter if it’s asurans or not.

So in my eyes I figured Evon was going to win anyway. So I voted for Kiel, because hey if she won I get to experience this lore, and if not I wouldn’t be disappointed because “hey, pre-gw1 lore, that’s fine”

I think it’s cool we’re getting something either way. However I wouldn’t mind knowing what the Asuran Cities looked like before they were driven top-side. If GW:EN beginning story mission was any indication. It would be cool to see.

I’m voting for Kiel for 3 reasons.
1. I played GW1 for 6 years. Amazing lore and all but that’s GW1 where that lore should stay. No matter how they make that fractial, it’s just not going to live up to peoples’ over-hyped expectations.

2. Because of point 1. I would like some more GW2 lore and more lore into the game that can do both show some cool lore towards the now AND the past at the same time. I’m more curious into what we DON’T know as apposed to what we do know. Anet is not going to tell us where the gods went after they left. Nor will they tell us where they came from with this fractal, but this is just me.

3. Because Kookachoo is not running for counsel, and THAT folks is a crime in itself.

I did it yesterday with a 5 man party and was surprised how easy it was. We only lost 500 out of the 2500.
Party was a Ranger, Warrior, Guardian, Elementalist and myself (mesmer) and all we did was camp at their spawn point.
When one game out we attacked it but didn’t follow. Waited for them to grab loot and come back then DPS them to the ground. Lots of slowdowns and knock backs and stuns are the key to these guys. When a Mortar guy popped up we took care of it while the dude was grabbing the loot.

As for the tons of Veterans , we would also focus on them while the looter was spawning/ grabbing loot, yet we never followed them into the middle and we attacked only who came close to us.

It’s a bit on the “cheap tactics” side but it worked and I think it was easier than Tier 3 just because we didn’t use that strategy.

Hopefully this maybe helpful to 5 man groups.

As a person who loves the GW1 the fall of abbadon as a fractal does NOT do that point justice. I would rather have it as a proper dungeon that you access from the durmond priory than just another level in a fractal. Not to mention it would have to be a very high level fractal to get to so even if it was to get people who love the lore into the fractals your not going to see it for a very long time.

Also, if speculation serves to be true, the story now will get a bit more interesting with Kiel behind the counsel.

As far as the chests are concerned, the only good item I’ve ever received was a permanent bank access item. I can open up my bank anywhere I need to, at anytime, without being in a town.

I’d rather vote for Kiel than Evon as evon knows how to run a business and not run a council. However Kiel is in good with Logan which is good with Jennah. I can just see bad things happening with Evon in council.

Theory Time!
Maybe he is Mr. E. and maybe he’s the one who is behind all the attacks. If he gets in he could possible trigger some attempt at killing Queen Jennah so that Caudicus can do as he pleases. The Charr/Human treaty goes out the window, and Evon makes a “killing” off of the profits from people buying more weapons. Nothing funds a businessman more than war.

/End Theory Time.

The problem is I think Anet is making Evon purposefully win. His addition to the Fall of Abbadon Fractial is too enticing not to vote for, even though fractials are at random? (I’ve only managed to do 4 so far) and didn’t Colin say that these dungeons won’t be ready until the end of the year anyway?

Also, if we do get the FoA, wouldn’t someone have to play Dwayna? who was basically the monk? so if there has to be healing (cause only a god can hurt a god) someone would have to play that role.

These are just things that are going through my head. Meanwhile, 4 other eldar dragons are destroying the world slowly as we speak…however that matters not because elections are around the corner! YA! fistpump

It can’t be dyed yet but there looks like a spot that could. I don’t mind if the TOP glow can’t be dyed, however if you look at the bottom half of it its a “separate” piece and I figured the underside of that can be dyed which makes sense.

I’m thinking this is a bug at the moment because the preview thing is bugged as well. So who knows. Maybe if we keep mentioning it they can get on it

Also glow “could” be dyed. The Chaos Axes in the first game were pure glow and they could be dyed to a point. Problem with this is that this game has 100X more dye than the first game so mapping all the glow colours could be troublesome,. Plus some could look really bad (Abyss Dye glow anyone?)

Just in regard to your last paragraph, even if glowing stuff could be dyed in the previous game..The radiant armor is not unique like this in gw2. I mean there are plenty of other examples of glowing or whatever things in gw2 that can’t be dyed (speaking only about the effects). Like the flames of CoF armor can’t be dyed…the gauntlets from the Flame and Frost living story can’t be dyed on the glowy orange part.

understandable and I think it’s really just because there is way more work involved in the dye system due to colours with the effects, and some of those effects just wont work. I’m perfectly fine with the glow as it is it looks nice. It’s just the underside that needs the fix

Too Much Temporary Content Can Only Harm GW2

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

zityz.6089

If done right this can be the better way than an expansion. Now if they release small bits and pieces at a time while they work on bigger pieces to add into the game that are permanent while maintaining a story it will work out better than an expac.

Problem with expacs are the fact that not everyone will have them/ afford to dish out extra cash to experience content right away. Not always the case but a case still. If they can flesh out the idea with making all of this stuff happen in real time ( which seams like what they are doing) while still being able to make enough money through the gems store to keep the business afloat

I would rather them do that than have them make an expac for $40-60 and not have some people be able to play it or cant join your dungeon from a different server because “whoops don’t have that extra content”. To me it makes sense.

About the “hardcore” and “casual” problem? that’s a ‘simple’ fix. GW1 had a solution to this and GW2 could as well but it will take a lot more programming. They called it “Hard Mode” as dungeons are now, make them a bit easier but reduce the amount of rewards you get. Want better rewards? or the reward of finishing it? HARD MODE, its a tougher challange and you get better rewards.

Normal mode Title= Dungeon Master
Hard Mode Title= Legendary Dungeon Master

That’s an example. They could add Hard Mode to other things later on if they wanted to. Hard Mode story missions if they desired. Give it time. I think that’s the best solution for everyone. Keep world stuff the same that can be the middle ground.

Once you feel comfortable and enjoy it get into some sPvP less people but more structured. However a zerker war probably wont be your best option in sPvP because you will get merc’d. Colin has also said they haven’t decided one way or the other on Expansions.. The whole “No expansions ever” has been widely misquoted and the context forgotten. The dev who said this initially was trying to say that they want to explore the viability of the living story and hope to get it to a point where it can actually replace the function of expansions. By having content released every two weeks they could actually uncover parts of Cantha in a meaningful and realistic way for example. But honestly I wouldn’t be surprised if an expansion is in the works…

Something I just thought of: Even if they can release Cantha/Elona areas through living story content, what will they do in regards to the world map? Do you think they’ll expand it or will it be another map entirely? If the latter, do you think it can be done through Living story content? Thanks for your contribution.

Well what they did in the first game was with Cantha it was a boat trip to a new island. Since they already have the boat mechanic set up for going to southsun/ cliffs I can see them doing it this way. With living story it will be possible. With Elona they will just make it a separate map again, even though it’s the lower have of the crystal desert area and is apart of the main Tyrian map, it sections it off because it’s its own country.

To be fair though as much as I love Cantha and -somewhat- Elona. I would rather worry about the rest of that large map we have now to be filled in. Until we have finished fighting all 5 dragons, seen fire islands, crystal desert, isle of janthir and the northern shiverpeaks (where the HoM is currently located) The inclusion of Tengu playable race and maybe the inclusion of largos, then we can worry about what then crazy kurzicks, luxons and palawa joko is up to these days.

I hope they make it so you can dye the underside of them. Right now you can’t and it’s a bummer as it doesn’t match my colour scheme.

I have let people come in first a few times now. I know I’ve earned my achievement, and if others get first and do the same thing they’ve basically earned it as well. Sure this is “PvP” but its trivial. It’s a mini game. If they wanted it to be that kind of PvP they would have made it 1st to 3rd only rewards and they wouldn’t have put in the light travel, because there are 2 places on the track if you hit light travel you can go from 7th to 1st in no problem so might as well take that out.

So to those who have let others pass just because, your all awesome people. To those who think you need to “earn” your “title”. Your in the wrong place, because titles for the most part are not hard to get.

Besides, unless you have “God walking amongst mere mortals” or any of that title track personally, your not impressing anyone with your “elite status”.

This is no different to roller beetle racing in GW1. It’s just super laggy at parts because tons of people are in the area that’s why. Give it a few more days and it should level out a bit more. It happens with everything else.

I do agree some of the movements are a bit off with the #3 skill but you can get around that in sanctum spirit with a little timing.

These stories are not fantasy at all

The OP is right. This isn’t fantasy at all!

I see floating Air ships in the sky all the time! I can’t go to the beaches anymore since they’re infested with giant mutated crabs from all the pollution in the water, also let’s not forget the current issue in Norway right now where tons of people are being fled from their homes by giant Norwegian cat people in hazmat suits with flamethrowers torching homes. Apparently they’ve teamed up with some crazy underground Russian coalition.

I want real fantasy I want people riding dragons and talking gibberish all day long. No magic though, because that’s not fantasy enough either. We all know that Harry Potter is based off a true story and well we were all taught in History about the real life journey of Frodo Baggins…

"New Destiny's Edge" Theory.

I had a thought about this. Since after the defeat of Zhaitan and Destiny’s Edge members getting back together, we have been (so far) introduced to a few new characters.

Since the other Elder Dragons are still running amok while we’re busy worrying about the Molten Alliance and those pesky “sky pirates” The living story has been introducing us to some interesting characters. Bhram, who’s the son of Eir. Roxx, who want’s to follow in Rylock’s footsteps, and Kiel, with help of Kasameer and Majory have been able to take down criminals interfering with everyones’ fun.

So far that’s 3 out of 5 people. (1 younger Norn, 1 younger Charr and 1 younger human) and all 3 of these characters so far seam more than a one off character that may play a larger role. How Majory and Kasameer play larger roles later on is to be seen but I think so far we may potentially see a few more characters that may band together for the next Elder Dragon, be it Jormag or Kralkatorrik and having Destiny’s Edge passing the torch onto the new generation of heroes with you being the “leader” of the group now instead of being the “apprentice”.

Question remains if the new few living story’s will bring in anymore new characters, Asuran or Sylvarian. Heck even a Tengu as part of the new group could work to make it a total of 6 members leading up to the next big dragon fight.

Would be interesting if they went this way but this is just a thought I had.

I would because I like steampunk/ cyberpunk looks in stuff… but I main a female light class.. No way would I ever wear that look.

I think the medium armour set and the heavy sets are 10x better looking but once again…light class so no go on that.

One thing I would LOVE for them to add that they had in GW1 was the green weapons. However instead of green weapons, just make them unique skins that drop from champions and legendary only. Would make farming the event bosses non dragon more meaningful with people than just some xp and a little big of copper/silver tossed your way.

Would be cool.

Aether dungeon needs radical nerfing

I would say it needs a bit more balancing. The pull on the golums is fine but not on the 3rd phase. I think dodging both types of lasers while hoping you don’t get pulled in randomly INTO the lasers is a little much. Everything else about the fight is fine.
1st and 2nd phase. Pull is fine 3rd phase can do without.

The fight with Mai is okay. Somethings need to be looked at though. Like dodging out of Horeks blast radius just as Mai shadowsteps to you and can 1 K.O you seams a little odd. Aside from that part its fine. The cannon blasts are a little too much on the 2nd phase. They should only fire that many during a last phase of that fight. Aside fromt that really it’s a fine dungeon.

So not much nerfing. Just a little balancing more-or-less.

Mesmer. I played one launch day in GW1 for 6 years. Same with GW2. While they’re not AS complex as the GW1 mesmer I still enjoy how they play overall. There is still a little bit of thinking involved when it comes to the GW2 counterpart and overall I enjoy it.

Now all I need is an Echo skill to let me copy any of my skills in slot and I’ll be set.

I’d say something more like Q-bert. You have 1 minute to change all the blocks from one colour to another and each block you change a bauble pops up.

This is defiantly a joke post. I don’t know why you would need to have pointy ear tree hugging humans in the game when we already have non pointy ear tree hugging humans. Unless of course you have an elf fetish or something.

Also. This may blow your mind… but WoW isn’t original either. Warcraft is based off of Warhammer.

He’s tough at first until you learn the pattern then it’s super easy.
Solo mode way:
When you get on the pad, smack at the giant jewel until one pops out. Don’t grab it yet because it’s going to stomp the ground with a left or right ( watch the eyes).
After he stomps then grab the jewel and head to a rock and stand there wait for him to open his mouth, toss the jewel in.
After he’s down start smacking on him and as he is getting up this leaves a few seconds for you to hit at the jewel again. One should pop out.

Rinse repeat until dead.

2-5 players
Same as solo, except 1 person does the jewel grabbing, everyone else stays on the rock until frog goes down. All hit him then rinse repeat.

Easy.

Came back to GW2, it's empty.

I’m on maguuma and it’s pretty darn full. Go to Wayfarer foothills in the begining area 1-15 if you want to see where people are at.

In any MMO ive played ( played a few) the middle ground areas are never jammed packed. It’s always a handful of people here and there.
